We offer courses that form part of the RYA national powerboat scheme:

"To provide a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats".

In practice the Level 1 course is ideal for people wanting to gain some initial training in the use of powerboats. The course covers all of the important areas relating to boat handling together with an introduction to some of the theory.

Students between the ages of 8-11 will receive a Certificate that is endorsed- " The holder should only use powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult on board the craft"

Students between the ages of 12-16 will receive a Certificate that is endorsed – " The holder should only use powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult"

* Note: It is Company policy that children and young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied on the course by a parent or guardian.

"To teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats".

This is the most popular course, widely accepted as the "standard" for people using small (up to 10m) powered craft for leisure. The course covers all aspects of handling a powerboat at low and higher speed together with the relevant supporting knowledge necessary for a safe passage.

Successful completion of the course also enables candidates to claim the relevant International Certificate of Competence (ICC), a qualification required to use small powerboats in many countries around the world. There is an additional fee for the ICC.

This course can also be delivered on your own boat providing it is suitable, please contact us for more information.

Students between the ages of 12-16 will receive a Certificate that is endorsed – The holder should only use powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult.

"For experienced powerboat drivers"

This enables candidates with at least one full season’s powerboat handling experience to obtain their Level 2 Certificate through a 3-hour assessment.

"To teach powerboating up to the standard required to complete a short passage by day".

The Intermediate course builds on the skills and knowledge gained at Level 2 enabling the student to plan a longer coastal passage requiring more detailed planning and use of GPS equipment. On the second day of the course, students will navigate to a destination in the Solent using their own passage plan.

It is recommended that students hold a First Aid and VHF Certificate before attending this course.

"To teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters with which the candidate may be familiar".

Candidates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate with a thorough knowledge of navigation and chart work to the level of Day Skipper Shorebased Certificate.

Because of the need to complete part of the course during darkness, timings will vary depending on the time of the year. Please give us a call for details.

It is a requirement that students hold a First Aid and VHF Certificate before attending this course.

"A 1-day course and assessment required to legally operate marine radio equipment".

This is a full day of learning, where we cover the necessary theory but concentrate on giving you hands on experience with our Training Radios. We’ll make sure you can send all of the necessary standard messages and get the best from your DSC marine radio.

We ask you to learn the phonetic alphabet before joining the course as this saves time on the day.

Powerboating offers the best of both worlds, the leisurely pace of a gentle cruise and the thrill of zipping across the open water. RYA training will give you the confidence and skills to handle the boat safely and make the most of your time on the water, whatever your pace.

As well as courses for recreational boaters, RYA powerboat certificates are also used by professional open boat skippers who need to prove their competence or require  professional qualifications  for work.

The National Powerboat scheme is comprised of a series of one and two-day practical courses that can be taken either onboard a centre’s boat, or your own. There’s something for all ages and levels of experience. 

A one-day introduction to simple boat handling and the use of safety equipment.

A two-day course to get to grips with powerboat handling.

Two days of practical pilotage, passage planning and navigating by day.

Two days of planning and navigating more challenging passages by day and night.

Two days of hands-on recovery and fleet management techniques for dinghies and windsurfers for those operating in a training or racing environment.

This two-day course builds upon Level 2 Powerboat Handling skills, focussing on short-handed operations, passenger safety and comfort. Designed in consultation with the Professional Yachting Association (PYA).

A basic introduction to navigation for new skippers, crew or anyone interested in getting out on the water.

Why do a RYA Powerboat Course.

So what are the Powerboating qualifications?

RYA Level 1 Start Powerboating – Age 8+ max 3 per course

Provides a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. It covers boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both planing and displacement, and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place. A one day introduction to Powerboating with no previous experience required. 

Cost £150 – £200 (one day course)

RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling – Age 12+ max 3 per course

Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken at an inland or coastal location. It may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both planing and displacement. The certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.

Cost £250 – £350 (Two day course)

RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course – Age 16+ max 3 per course

Covers the practical use of pilotage and passage planning by day on coastal waters using both traditional and electronic navigational techniques. It aims to teach the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day. This course builds on the foundation knowledge of the Level 2 course and is suited to those who aim to drive larger more powerful powerboats. During the course you will cover cruising at planing speed and more advanced boat handling. It is recommended for anyone considering moving on to the Advanced course.The course can be conducted on a planing or displacement boat

Cost £300 – £350 (two day course)

RYA Powerboat Advanced Course – Age 17+ max 3 per course

Aims to teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters, with which the candidate may be familiar, in more demanding conditions. Given the nature of these passages Advanced Powerboat courses should be delivered on powerboats of a minimum of 6 metres and an engine size sufficient to enable coastal passages at planing speed.

Cost £300 – £350 (two day course with one night passage)

Chichester Boat Club only offers PB1 and PB2 courses.

Very few people do the PB1 as it is only an introduction to powerboating. The majority of people do the PB2 as it is the minimum level of qualification needed by sailing clubs and boat hire companies, in the UK and abroad, to use their boats (up to 10m).

RYA qualifications are recognised in the UK and some European countries, if you want to hire a boat abroad you will need to convert your RYA qualification to an ICC (international Certificate of Competence). This can be done via the RYA website at no cost to RYA members.

Share this course.

You will meet your instructor in the morning for briefing on the day's activities, then go outside to be shown the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat - that means it has a rigid hull with inflatable tubes around the outside). You will learn how to check over the boat and prepare it for launch - if you have already driven a powerboat this will be quite straightforward, but if you are a complete beginner you may need a little more time. Then you will launch the boat and set out to practice some basic manoeuvres in the harbour. There will be a stop for lunch, when you will cover some of the theory required - such as navigation - before more practical exercises on the water, and back to the club in the afternoon. On the second day of the course you will learn high speed driving techniques, and cover some more theory, before being awarded your certificate.

No prior experience is needed, but you should be able to swim.

This year’s 2nd Medical Technologists Licensure Exam (MTLE) will be conducted on August 6 & 7, 2024.

The list of room assignments for the August 2022 Medical Technologist Licensure Exam is released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) days before the exams. See room assignments for examinees below!

The exams will be conducted in different parts of the Philippines, including NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legaspi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga. It will take place on August 20 and 21, 2022.

The exam is administered by the Board of Medical Technology which is composed of  Dr. Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza , Chairman; and  Ms. Marian M. Tantingco , Member.

Room Assignment — August 2022 Medical Technologist Licensure Exam

Cagayan de oro, pampanga, san fernando, rosales, pangasinan, related information, what to bring on exam day.

• Official Receipt of payment of application for examination
• Two (2) or more pencils (No. 2)
• One (1) Non-programmable calculators with the following features – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, trigonometric function, logarithm and x y
• Forms of Health (Pursuant to Joint Administrative Order No. 01 (s 2020))
• Negative RT-PCR Test Results, if applicable, or Certificate of Quarantine or Copy of Vaccination Card for fully vaccinated examinees to the proctor on the exam day

What NOT to bring on exam day?

• Coded information or formulas that can be found in books, notes, review materials, and other printed sources.
• Cellular phones, ear plugs, transmitters, portable computers, smart watches, bluetooth, and other electronic gadgets/devices which may be used for communication purposes;
• Any type of bag
• Other examination aides not stated

What to wear on exam day?

• For male examinees, a tucked-in white polo shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark) paired with decent pants or slacks.
• For female examinees, a tucked-in white blouse or shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark) paired with decent pants or slacks.

COVID-19 protocols during the exam day

During the PRC licensure exams, the following precautionary health and safety rules must be followed at all times:

• Observe physical distancing of at least two (2) meters between examinees.
• Examinees shall be restricted to their assigned seat;
• Wear face mask (at least 3-ply surgical mask, preferably N95 mask) and face shield at all times; 
• Bring 70% ethyl alcohol for hand disinfection;
• Avoid close contacts like “beso-beso”, hugging, handshake, and directly touching other persons;
• Avoid touching one’s eyes, nose, and mouth;
• When sneezing and/or coughing, facial tissues must be used to wipe the nose and mouth areas. Dispose of used facial tissues properly; and
• Avoid spitting in public, on floors, and along corridors.

MTLE RESULTS: January 2022 MedTech Board Exam List of Passers

MedTech Results Passers January 2022

MANILA, Philippines ( Released January 24, 2022 ) – The January 2022 MTLE/ MedTech board exam results including the complete board list of passers , top 10 examinees and overall performance of schools are released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Medical Technology in six (6) working days after the last day of exams.

As announced, 1,307 out of 2,619 successfully passed the exams. “The result of examination with respect to one (1) examinee was withheld as per Board Resolution No. 02 dated January 24, 2022.”

The MedTech board exam was conducted on January 15-16, 2022 at several testing centers located at NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga. The licensure exams were headed by the Chairman of the Board of Medical Technology, Dr. Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza and its members Ms. Marilyn R. Atienza and Ms. Marian M. Tantingco.

MedTech examinees that will fail to pass the board examination but had obtained a general rating of at least 70% can register as Medical Laboratory Technician.

Release of Results

Referring to the results of the previous MedTech licensure exams, taking into consideration the restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the estimated target release date stated in the PRC Resolution No. 1439 series of 2021 entitled “ Schedule of the Licensure Exam for the Year 2022 “, the MedTech board exam results are estimated to be released in 3-5 working days or longer, after the last day of board exams. Stand by from January 19-21, 2022.

PRC may also release the MedTech board results for January 2022 earlier or later than the estimated date without prior notice.

Schedule of Registration

The schedule of online appointment for issuance of Professional ID and Certificate of Registration for the new MedTechs will be from March 1, to March 15, 2022 .

Initial registrants are advised to register online via PRC official website via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and follow the steps in online registration. Here are the registration requirements:

• Notice of Admission/NOA (for identification purposes only)
• Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
• Two (2) pieces of passport-sized ID photos in white background and with complete name tag
• Two (2) sets of documentary stamp
• One (1) piece short brown envelope

PRC added that successful examinees shall personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Verification of Rating

The verification of ratings and test results for the MedTech licensure exams given by PRC Board of Medical Technology will be available online few working days after the posting of results.

Successful takers can refer to PRC official website and use the Verification Page to know their board examination passing rate.

As posted, a passer shall only provide the exam name, the date of examination, the application number, first name and last name and the birth-date.

Oath-Taking Ceremonies

Due to the pandemic, the oathtaking ceremony for the newly licensed MedTechs will be done online, now referred as the “e-oath”. The application system for the e-oath can be accessed online via PRC dedicated portal via https://online.prc.gov.ph/ and  select “e-OATH” as transaction.

Inductees are required to print “OATH OF PROFESSIONAL” form that is downloadable at the PRC Online Services.

Coverage of Exams

The two-days MedTech board exam covered topics from Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology, Clinical Microscopy, Hematology, Blood Banking and Serology and Hispathologic Techniques, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology Laws, Related Laws and its Implementing Rules and Code of Ethics.

MedTech Board Exams Summary (Stats)

MedTech board exam is one of the programs with average number of examinees conducted by PRC.

In the previous exams held on March 2021, 1,921 out of 3,251 examinees passed. Felix Jayson Magleo Vegella from Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 91.00% followed by Rocelle Anne Ramos Leonardo from Far Eastern University Manila and Clarice Anne Castroverde Medrano having 88.30%. Saint Louis University was the top performing school having 98.01% overall passing rate.

PRC Room Assignments for August 2022 Medical Technologist Licensure Exam (MedTech)

Manila, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced the list of room assignments for the August 20-21, 2022 Medical Technologist Licensure Exam (MedTech) for testing locations in Manila/ National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga a week or days before the licensure exams.

The licensure exams for Medical Technologists will be administered by the PRC and Board of Medical Technology headed by its Chairman, Dr. Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza, and its members, Ms. Marilyn R. Atienza and Ms. Marian M. Tantingco.

Medical Technologist Licensure Exam Coverage

Examination Attire

Male and Female examinees are required to wear their school uniform pursuant to Resolution No. 311 dated May 18, 1994.

What to bring?

Don’t forget the following on examination day:

• Notice of Admission (NOA)
• Two (2) or more pencils (No. 1 or No. 2)
• Ball pens with BLACK ink only
• Health forms
• Negative RT-PCR Test Results, if applicable, or Certificate of Quarantine

Examinees are not allowed to bring books, notes, or similar items in the examination room. Programmable calculators, as well as electronic gadgets such as Apple and Samsung products, are not allowed either. Bags of any kind are also not allowed inside the examination premises.

Precautionary Measures

The following precautionary measures shall be observed during the conduct of the MedTech:

• Wearing of face mask and face shield
• Sanitizing using alcohol and hand-based sanitizers whenever necessary
• Physical Distancing of one (1) meter at all times
• Those with fever and cold are not allowed to take the exam
• Observe proper hygiene at all times
