Westport motor yacht Redemption sold

The 39.62 metre motor yacht Redemption, listed for sale by Mark Osterhaven at Worth Avenue Yachts , has been sold and renamed Kaleen IX with Bob Cury at RJC Yachts introducing the buyer.

Built in GRP by US yard Westport to a design by Gregory C Marshall , she was delivered in 2004 as hull number eight in the Westport 130’ series. Accommodation is for 10 guests in five well appointed cabins consisting of a master suite, two VIP suites and a pair of port and starboard twins, all with televisions and en suite bathrooms.

Extensive deck areas allow for al fresco entertaining and dining on the large aft deck and flybridge. The aft deck comes complete with a teak dining table and chairs, built in upholstered seating, a bar with three bar stools, a fridge and a 37 inch plasma television screen. The flybridge has built in seating and large sun pads along with two 8’ teak sunshade umbrellas.

The saloon is warm and welcoming, with comfortable seating, cocktail tables, a wine cooler in a custom cherry wood cabinet and an entertainment system including a 50 inch Samsung LED television screen on an electric lift system. Forward is a formal dining area with seating for 10 guests.

She recently completed a refit at Bradford Marine in Florida. The refit included painting a majority of her top sides, new carpeting, all new exterior cushions and several new air handlers. She is up to date with all mechanical servicing and has been maintained with an open cheque book by a knowledgeable owner and crew.

Twin 2,735hp MTU engines give her a cruising speed of 21 knots.

Redemption  was asking $7,450,000 and will now undertake a further major refit in order for her new owner to cruise on her this autumn.

Redemption 35' Beneteau Oceanis 351 1994

MAIN DESCRIPTION:

SV Redemption spent the bulk of her life sailing the Chesapeake Bay, which has a short season of only five or six months per year; she has been sailing to Florida and the Florida Keys for the last few winters. She was updated in 2017 and again in 2019 for long-range cruising by the current owner. The bright white gelcoat and beautiful woodwork reflect their pride of ownership. With two large cabins, Redemption is perfect for two couples or a family of four.

Beneteau describes their Oceanis line as “blue water cruisers” which have “set the standard for sailboat design and construction.”  Designed by Jean Berret and Phillipe Briand and produced by Beneteau between 1992 and 1997 the Oceanis 351/352 has sleek lines which offer fast and efficient sailing and cruising, as well as comfortable living space for short-term or long-term adventures. Considered particularly beamy at the time of its launch, the Oceanis quickly became known as “a comfortable family boat that is fun to sail.” The innovations of the Oceanis line include: a winged keel, a shallow bilge, slippery underwater sections and a lengthy waterline.

Despite more conservative estimates from her manufacturer, Redemption easily reaches an impressive 7+ knots in good wind (highest speed by owner is 8.6kts). She shares her hull with the Beneteau First 35.7, and her maximum waterline length and wide beam make for excellent stability in all weathers. In rough seas and strong winds, the Oceanis 351 has a good solid feel. The slab sided Dutchan and Lazy jacked main with roller-furling genoa make for nice easy rigging and this is a yacht that makes for easy and safe light or short-handed sailing.

+ OCEANIS 351 MAIN DESCRIPTION

+ oceanis 351 interior accommodations.

The interior of Redemption is beautifully appointed with well-maintained rich mahogany joinery. The companionway steps are curved up at the edges and feature non-slip treads and sturdy hand-holds. The two cabin layout features a wide beam carried almost to the transom, which significantly increases the interior space. The teak and holly sole is protected by a navy and cream colored area carpet.

The salon has 6’ 4” headroom, which adds to its spaciousness. The galley is to port aft. The large reverse facing navigation station, also to port, makes it easy to communicate with anyone on deck. An amber light is mounted at the station for night navigation. There is also a large settee to port moving forward.

The U-shaped dinette to starboard can be converted to a large berth and has storage beneath the removable cushions. Two tables convey with the vessel, although only one beautiful wood table is shown in the photos. The fabric in the interior of Redemption is dark blue, and is in very good condition. 

The salon also features: teak storage racks, a mounted RCA TV with sound bar, a SMX reverse cycle AC/heat control panel, a ship’s bell, reading lights, overhead lights, mounted fans, a storage bin with bottle racks, electrical outlets, an overhead hatch, and numerous portlights all with shades or covers.

There are a total of four portlights in the hull, and 14 on deck (including two hatches with solar fans) that provide excellent natural light and ventilation.  They all have shades/covers to reduce UV damage or keep the cabin space cooler when needed.

The galley is to port and aft, which is a preferred location for open water cruising. It features a counter access refrigerator/freezer, well-organized storage, and a clever trash bin with a self-opening lid. The gimballed propane stove with oven, and the microwave oven offer numerous cooking facilities. There is a portlight over the sink and a window to the cockpit which provide plenty of natural light.

The galley also features:

·      Frigaboat In-Counter Refrigeration with Digital Controller; 6.4 cubic foot fridge with freezer

·      Hot water - Shore Power and Engine (2011)

·      SeaFlow variable rate high volume pump with bladder (2016)

·      5 micron water filtration system with activated carbon plus spare filters (2016)

·      ENO Marine 3 burner gimballed propane stove, and oven with stainless steel crash bar      

·      CO, Propane, Smoke Detectors (2017)

·      Microwave – 700w with turntable which runs off the inverter

·      Double stainless steel sink with covers

·      Neutral well fiddled counters

·      Mounted paper towel rack

·      5 Cabinet pantry with teak storage organizer for dishware and cutlery

AFT STATEROOM:

Redemption features a large aft stateroom aft to starboard. The double berth is under the cockpit and goes all the way to the aft bulkhead. 

The stateroom features: two storage lockers under the berth, a custom-made Marine Specific Tufted Topper mattress topper, custom-made Cariloha bamboo sheets, custom-made bedding and comforter, a ceiling light, two reading lights, double mounted fans, a teak wall rack, open storage under the companionway steps, a hanging locker, a mirror, opening ports lights with covers and shades, fixed portlights with covers, access to the engine compartment, an engine light, and 6’ 4” of headroom in the dressing area.

The single head on Redemption is to starboard, between the aft stateroom and the dinette. It features: a Raritan manual head, a portlight with shade, a wall mounted fan, 6’3” headroom, two mirrored medicine cabinets, a shower, and a stainless steel towel rack with hooks. 

FORWARD V-BERTH STATEROOM:

The forward V-berth stateroom is well-appointed enough to be used as the owner’s cabin, so it is nice enough to be used by your guests. It features: 6’3” of headroom, a hanging locker, a storage locker with shelves, a custom-made Marine Specific Tufted Topper mattress topper, custom made Cariloha brand bamboo sheets, custom-made bedding and comforters, reading lights, portlights with integrated shades, a ceiling hatch with a solar fan and integrated shade, a mirror, and a teak and holly sole.
