Kaori is a custom sailing yacht launched in 1991 by Palmer Johnson Yachts in Sturgeon Bay Wi, United States and most recently refitted in 2009.

Palmer Johnson has emerged from modest beginnings in 1918 as a builder of wooden fishing boats to become a world leader in the construction of luxury high-performance superyachts.

Kaori measures 38.10 metres in length, with a max draft of 3.05 metres and a beam of 8.58 metres. She has a gross tonnage of 228 tonnes. She has a deck material of teak.

Kaori has an aluminium hull with an aluminium superstructure.

Her interior design is by Jane Plachter.

Kaori also features naval architecture by C. W. Paine Yacht Design, Inc..

The 125’ (38.1m) Palmer Johnson sailing yacht KAORI is now for charter with Northrop & Johnson. The luxury yacht will charter in Alaska in the summer and Central America in the winter. Charters start at $125,000 per week, plus expenses.

KAORI was launched in 1993 and received an extensive refit in 2020. The sailing yacht welcomes eight guests in the comfort of four charming staterooms and is equipped with a professional crew of five to cater to each guests’ every need. KAORI showcases a combination of classic and modern design elements while still maintaining a feeling of absolute luxury.

The interior of KAORI can be described as cozy, warm and elegant. The stunning wood finishes can be seen throughout the charter yacht’s main salon and in each of the guest suites. A large, comfortable sofa, chairs and a formal dining table complete the main living area. The long windows allow for natural light and make it easy to view the passing landscapes.

KAORI’s master suite includes a king-size bed, his-and-hers closets and lots of storage. Beautiful wood furnishings complement the light-colored linens for a cozy, warm feel. The master study area can be converted into a queen stateroom when needed. Additional accommodations include full-size and twin-size staterooms, perfect for those traveling with children.  

The wheelhouse salon and aft deck offer guests more dining, socializing, and relaxing areas. Both can be kept enclosed or opened up when desired to let in a breeze on a nice day. The top deck of KAORI is the perfect locale, featuring a hot tub and lots of seating areas to sunbathe or take in the unobstructed views. Captain Rob's love of sailing started at a young age on the lakes near his home and has since taken him all over the world. From motor yachts to sailing yachts ranging in sizes up to 170' his experience is vast, and his knowledge is all encompassing from the helm to the engine room. He enjoys sharing his love of sailing with others and has many years teaching youth how to sail off the coast of New England, Maine, and Martha’s Vineyard. Captain Robert has had a very diverse career in the marine industry that includes crab fishing, marine and biological research on university vessels and catamarans in Hawaii.

Becca has been racing sailboats for 3 years and knows how to work as part of a team. She has her yacht master offshore and is currently working towards her commercial endorsement. She is an easy-going, dedicated shipmate and works incredibly hard. She is very versatile in her abilities on deck and interior.

Lee first came to Alaska in 1995. She drove from California with her dog and her kayak, exploring Alaska from the Inside Passage to the Top of the World Highway in the Yukon. It was then that the nature of Alaska and her unique communities grabbed a special place in her heart. She has paddled with Killer Whales, Humpback Whales, walked the tundra with Polar Bears, Brown Bears, and shared a beach with Walrus! Lee has been leading exclusive yacht expeditions in Southeast and Southcentral Alaska for over twenty years. Over that time, she has developed an intimate knowledge of the waters and wildlife of coastal Alaska, and desires to share knowledge of that wilderness with her passengers. Her presentations on wildlife and culture are both educational and enjoyable. She has a deep connection and respect for the native culture in Southeast Alaska, and many contacts within the communities in the small villages and towns. Lee has had the opportunity to work with over 25 Yachts: the Owners, Captains, and crews, and has loved every minute of it.

Built in 1993 and refitted in 2020, this traditional-looking and graceful sailing yacht have all the modern conveniences, including a great choice of water toys for exploring above and below the water, plus a Jacuzzi up on the flybridge. Sail past the cold and mesmerising Glacier Bay while dining alfresco, the sound of calving glaciers in the backdrop. Kayak close to the shores, go Scuba diving and return onboard to warm up on the sunbeds or within the timeless salons.

The upper salon offers a place to rest and never miss a moment of the action, while below the main salon is a sanctuary where the emphasis is on spending quality time on your hobbies with loved ones.

S/Y KAORI comes with a great selection of water toys, and the collection includes:

• 2 x Seadoos
• 2 x Stand-up paddleboards
• 2 x kayaks (2-seater)
• fishing gear, and
• Scuba diving equipment

There is also gym equipment on board to wear off excess energy while cruising.

The accommodation sleeps a total of 8 guests across 4 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 1 Master office convertible to a double cabin, and 2 twin cabins. The professional crew of 5 will provide first-class service to all guests onboard.

Palmer Johnson sailing yacht Kaori sold

The 38.1 metre sailing yacht  Kaori , listed for sale by Steve Doyle at Cambridge Yacht Group, has been sold to a direct client.

Previously known as Mandalay , she was built in aluminium by Palmer Johnson to a design by Paine & Associates with delivery in 1991 and last refitted in 2012. The main saloon, aft of the galley, features cherry wood panelling, a U-shaped bar with fridge, built in settees and a 42 inch LCD television screen. The entertainment systems aboard have Crestron audio visual remotes interfaced with a Kaleidescape on demand film and audio server.

Accommodation is for up to eight guests in three cabins. The master suite is full beam with a study, sofa bed and desk while two twin cabins each have an additional Pullman berth, and all cabins feature entertainment centres and en suite bathroom facilities.

Aft from the helm in the wheelhouse is a congenial seating and entertaining area. To port and starboard are large U-shaped seating areas with cushions and covers and at each seating area is a varnished teak pedestal mounted table with full cover. To port and starboard are fixed windows and electric drop windows while fitted in the overheads are flush mounted lights and marinized stereo speakers. Aft is a double hinged varnished teak door leading to the aft deck. On the port side forward in the wheelhouse is a built-in wet bar area with a varnished teak bar top, an integrated sink and teak trim. At the base of the bar top are storage areas and an under-counter glass fronted beverage cooler.

Under power, she cruises at 10 knots powered by twin 400hp Caterpillar diesel engines.

The 38.1m/125' sail yacht 'Kaori' (ex. Mandalay) was built by Palmer Johnson in Monaco at their Sturgeon Bay, WI shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Jane Plachter and she was completed in 1992. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of C. W. Paine Yacht Design, Inc. and she was last refitted in 2020.

Kaori has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Kaori is built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3406TA) engines, she comfortably cruises at 9 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 13 knots with a range of up to 2,600 nautical miles from her 21,764 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots. Her water tanks store around 7,500 Litres of fresh water.

Experienced european owners brought together a top team of Dubois, Fitzroy and Tessier to produce their dream yacht: sleek, sophisticated and impressive under sail.

The push for a single level between bridge, saloon and cockpit, combined with ultra-sleek aesthetics, nudged the Dubois design team into new territory. “To get good visibility from the helmstations we had to work hard to lower the accommodation as much as possible, while keeping an open feeling” adds McKeon.

The interior, styled and drawn by Remi Tessier , features a combination of bleached timbers and white leather which results in clean modern lines and provides bright comfortable living areas.

Fitzroy Yachts Zefira

The sea trial was pubblished on Superyacht 31 – spring 2012

Zefira S/Y is one of those few yachts that became an attraction for yacht enthusiasts and professionals  well before she hit the water.

This yacht was designed and built with the experience and passion for sailing boats her owners demonstrated from the start as well as a naval engineering and a project design team from  Ed Dubois studio for the exterior, while Remi Tessier was responsible for all the interiors. Zefira was built in a yard which enjoys a  worldwide  reputation for the construction of large sailing yachts.

With such an opening introduction one can expect nothing less than something absolutely extraordinary, where the term used must be read in its best meaning to underscore something that has really nothing of the ordinary. We had the pleasure of talking with the owners who are currently sailing on their yacht after they had  carried out important work in the design phase with the project team to define specific guidelines and details.

Beyond the highly involving dialogue which ensued with flowing examples  of their own sailing experience and passion, we managed to grasp and better understand the idea behind the project which began with a seven metre sloop and  gradually developed in the course of the following 40 years  of which  many were spent at  sea. Putting words to emotion and feelings is never easy to do and  more so when they are other people’s. In this case however everything was a lot easier for us   thanks to our interviewee’s eloquent communicative capability.

The first point our attention was brought to was that Zefira is the largest sailing y

acht ever designed by Dubois with no fly bridge and built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand.  This may strike our readers as a mere detail, but it is in fact one of the principal fundamentals outlining this project because it translates into flowing external lines and a unique profile when observed sideways on.

The choice  of doing without a fly bridge is somewhat unusual since up until  recently a “fly” had been widely accepted as  a run of the mill thing to have on a sailing yacht beyond a given size, but which nevertheless, Zefira is proud to do without giving cause for, among others ,  the following comment volunteered by some of the designers not involved in the project: “The world of sailing now stands  divided between before Zefira and after Zefira”.

Naturally enough this comment in particular is aimed at the yachts’ profile, which brings to a standstill what had become a consolidated practice on yachts this size. Aesthetics is principally  why the owners decided to do without the fly option as well as for practical reasons  they eloquently highlighted: without one  on a  50 metre sailing boat  there’s a complete total view of both what lies ahead up to the horizon and of the sail plan.

Moreover using a higher windswept and sun scorched horizontal plane rather than the main deck itself is by its very nature something destined to be exploited only sporadically and quite correctly in their opinion doesn’t justify having one.

The thought behind the whole project as the requests submitted to both designers and yard indicated,  were to enjoy a pure thorough bred for its performing lines and technical contents, capable of offering the sort of space and commodities expected when cruising extensively in all weather conditions. At a first glance the goal seems to have been easily achieved, but if  we then go into an in-depth analysis, the comments volunteered by project designers earlier seems surely appropriate. The husband and wife team (the owners) followed up on construction work from the initial stages to completion, working through the more important phases in close contact with the professional teams involved.

According to the owners the best part was witnessing the step by step progress of such an enterprise. We can understand the reasons why and genuinely  hope that in  the future such desire will generate the construction of other such extraordinary ships.

Several International prizes for design and technical contents have been awarded to Zefira. Dubois Naval Architects’ studio is proud of the recognitions bestowed since this is the largest sailing yacht project without a “fly” they’ve ever made so far and also for the passion and creativity expressed time and time again by the owners who incidentally had been the previous owners of another Dubois  project built by Alloy Yachts: Kokomo of London (now Nubero Blau). The challenge taken on by the studio was one that meant blending the huge experience acquired by the owners to innovative aesthetics, with a hull capable of delivering the sea-keeping qualities and performance requested.

The owners wished for a boat that could be another home from home: spacious, with a project design that looked ahead into the future. For this reason the design team was invited by the owners to pay them a visit and to take a look at their house to better understand what they wanted.

The choice of the yard was principally dictated by delivery times even if Fitzroy Yachts had been chosen also in function of preceding work carried out from Dubois projects.

Among some of the clever solutions highlighted by the owners in the course of our conversation we wish to mention the ease in steering they experienced and handling the yacht, of course aided by electronics and important data communication systems capable of monitoring and performing many of the required manoeuvres without hindering visibility.

The rig which is capable of carrying up to 3,000 square metres of canvass is per se a very interesting technical achievement inasmuch as it sports a 63.50 metre mast and can still be defined as being “light”. Obviously there’s a carbon fibre mast and boom, as well as fibre stays that have been purposely chosen to reduce weight high above the waterline which translates into less draught and better performance in breezes.

All of the choices adopted for Zefira mean she is very competitive on the race track even against racers and  in spite of the many commodities she carries with her.  As for the interiors and  much of the work put in by  Remi Tessier designer and the co-owner they enhanced an undoubted feeling of both tranquillity and elegance.

Gauged chromatic variety  meets the discerning eye as it takes in lighter and darker shades of handcrafted woodwork placed without ever causing excessive contrast, followed by polished steel elements and ad hoc lighting which enhances relaxation throughout every area. The space chosen to house each piece of furniture, is fruit of  careful study that has contributed into ensuring an uncompromised degree of comfort in the owners’ suite which is situated in the stern and in each of the three guest cabins as well.

One is a twin while the other two are double each one of them sports its own private bathroom. The crew quarters are situated in the bow area and with space for a lounge and crew mess room, which translates into staff’s quality living standards on board. The yacht’s convivial areas are also well distributed and large to ensure adequate privacy to guests and owners alike.

The electronics and navigation aids installed are the most modern on the market, with data and alarm control systems and displays in each of the two external command /control stations  as well as on the bridge deck as can be expected on a state of the art ship such as this. Dictated by reasons of space we have to limit our text to that which has so far been described even when the meeting with Zefira’s owners was so stimulating  we were prompted  to go further.

Zefira is the largest vessel crafted by Fitzroy Yachts to date. Powered by a Caterpillar C32 1450 bhp main engine and a Hundested variable pitch propeller, the propulsion system provides long range motor sailing abilities. Ma solo in pochi sono riusciti ad accorgersi della sua presenza in porto, che è durata giusto una mattinata . “ Zefira ”, imbarcazione di 50 metri vincitrice dei prestigiosi riconoscimenti internazionali “Show boats Design Award 2011” e di “World Superyacht Awards 2011” come miglior yacht a vela del mondo per il 2011, è rimasta attraccata presso la banchina Bengasi del molo Cortese di Vibo Marina per poche ore, impegnata in attività di bunkeraggio. Costruita in Nuova Zelanda nei cantieri Fitzroy, ha uno scafo in alluminio e una trave con un raggio di quasi dieci metri. Bestevaer 66, ANABEL is an extraordinary world cruising yacht that was built for her current owner. She has taken him around the world in safety and with total reliability. He was closely involved with her build and she is very much a custom yacht. An enormous amount of care has gone into every aspect of her design and build, providing built in redundancy of her systems and safety for her crew and longevity for her. She has a powerful and easily handled sail plan and a secure cockpit. Her pilothouse is the perfect place for navigating and her pilot house windows were recently replaced with laminated glass which is super strong. She has a comfortable main saloon for living well and 3 good sleeping cabins which are comfortable and safe for her crew in a seaway. Her lifting keel (with 9000kg lead bulb) gives her enormous flexibility and ultimate stability. With her metal construction and robust design profile she is perfect for all oceans and would be secure and safe for high and low latitude sailing as well and for cruising in warmer waters.

ANABEL has been meticulously maintained by her owner with a series of works when laid up in New Zealand. Recently her underwater profile has been taken back and re-coated and she has new standing rigging.

Yachts with this level of capability and also those that are so well proven, rarely come to the market and ANABEL is very special. Everywhere you look there are design touches that are unique to her and very smart. She is a great alternative to commissioning new build if you have a very serious cruising programme in mind.

ANABEL has many admirers around the world. In every port I have been to, people have come by to have a look and express amazement. Many old salts have been on board, and all of them liked the yacht (even the Coastguard).

The yacht is quite a machine, and the new owner will get in depth explanation of all the details. Since I am the only person to know the yacht in detail, I am willing to spend a week or more, to transfer all knowledge to the new owner.

Since I have very much built this yacht, and lived aboard for some years, I wish her to pass into good hands and for her to sail the oceans of the world for many years to come.

During her 7 years of ownership various equipment has been replaced, added or modified (partly in New Zealand).

• New diesel pumps for better diesel transfer.
• A hydro generator.
• Windlass set up modified for smooth chain operation.
• Anchor re-galvanized.
• Improved boom with 4. reefs fitted.
• Keel lift cylinder overhauled and 2. seal + scrapper added.
• Keel guides replaced.
• Various ropes and sheets replaced.

• New anchor chain.
• All old anti fouling sanded off to the base coat.

First look: Bestevaer 36 – downsized pilothouse cruiser

The new Bestevaer 36 from renowned naval architect Gerard Dijkstra is the smallest ever boat in the history if the Besteaver brand

Product Overview

In a world in which yachts are constantly becoming larger, this Dutch brand is bucking the trend, with the smallest-ever model in its 20-year history. It’s intended to offer performance along with shoal draught and the ability to safely dry out on a beach.

These rugged aluminium pilothouse cruisers have always reflected what former professional skipper and renowned naval architect Gerard Dijkstra wants in a boat of his own: a safe, comfortable, and good-looking yacht for unrestricted, short-handed sailing. It has proved to be the perfect formula for a lifetime of ocean sailing, high latitude work and solo racing.

The Bestevaer 36 follows in a similar spirit, but is also intended as a boat in which Dijkstra can spend extended periods in the shallow waters, lakes and coastlines close to home that he has not previously had time to explore in detail.

“The Bestevaer 36 is a high-performance little yacht. It’s a very easy boat to sail and versatile as well,” he says. “It will easily take you around the world but is also ideal for cruising the local wetlands.”

This vessel therefore needed to be a sufficiently compact yacht to easily fit in small harbours and marinas, with the ability to dry out when sailing in the beautiful Wadden Sea nearby. Yet it still retains all the distinctive features of the brand’s larger yachts including aluminium construction, watertight fore and aft bulkheads, plumb bow, practical pilothouse and deep bulwarks.

The two tonne ballasted centreboard provides a generous 2.4m draught when lowered. This is combined with a big rig to give good sailing performance on all points of sail, including close-hauled and light airs. Yet the board retracts fully into the canoe body, reducing draught to only 0.7m and creating a flat surface on which to dry out safely on the hull’s thick bottom plating.

Like the larger Bestevaers, this boat was conceived at the outset to offer crew plenty of protection. In addition to seats each side of the pilothouse, which has a 360˚ view, the coachroof extends over the cockpit, creating a very sheltered area. All lines are led aft for easy single-handed operation.

Generous beam helps to provide good form stability, as well as increasing accommodation volumes. The interior has a flexible semi-open plan layout, with three different style options.

The first boat, which will be the designer’s own, is currently in build and scheduled for completion this spring. This example is also being used as a case study for a transition towards more sustainable production processes at KM Yachtbuilders. For instance, 70% of the aluminium is recycled, as is the insulation, while environmentally friendly and largely recycled materials are used for the interior. It has a 15kW OceanVolt electric drive with sufficient battery capacity for four hours of autonomy. This is supplemented with regeneration and a large solar panel array on the pilothouse roof.

A couple of interesting options are offered for sail plans, including a 95% jib on a Hoyt boom, which makes for an enticing combination of very easy handling and excellent sail shape on all points of sail.

To help make up for loss of headsail area a square-top mainsail with 14% more area than the standard pinhead version can be specified.

The standard specification has a very high level of equipment, including the solar panels, electric propulsion package, antifouling wrap and a traditional style floor mounted with a Dickinson Alaska diesel heater.

Iconic 'little blue boat' that calls Montrose Bay home up for sale after family makes tough decision

For almost 50 years a little blue boat has been moored on the River Derwent in Hobart's northern suburbs by the side of a busy highway.

It is known affectionately by many Tasmanians as "the little blue boat", and has floated alone next to the Brooker Highway at Montrose Bay over the decades.

Sea Breeze, its official name, was built by Robin Attrill in his Montrose backyard in the early 1970s.

His son Colin Attrill said the boat was launched at Macquarie Wharf in 1976.

"It's been on the mooring in Montrose Bay ever since, and that's why it's such an iconic little blue boat," he said.

Tasmanians curious about 'little blue boat'

The boat is an object of fascination for Brooker Highway motorists and foreshore walkers due to it seemingly never moving.

Colin Attrill said it was "absolutely amazing" the number of people who would stop and talk to him about the boat when he was launching the dinghy to go and check on it.

"The number of people that talk to me that are walking past and go 'that boat has been there forever' and 'it was there when I was going to school or every day when I've been driving to work'," he said.

"Some people say they've never seen it move. Well it used to move all the time.

"Of late it's slowed up, we're all busy and dad has slowed up. We lost mum and once that happened it impacted on family activities."

Tough decision to sell

Its owner is now 91 and the boat has not been sailed for about 10 years.

Colin Attrill said the family had recently made the tough decision to try to sell the boat.

"Dad isn't well and he's gotten old, which we all do, and the boat's got old," he said.

"Anyone who knows about a timber boat knows that they need maintenance."

Mr Attrill said the family used to put the boat on the slip at least once a year to clean and antifoul it, and do any repairs.

"But the past few years Dad has been unable to do anything, and the boat unfortunately has just sat on the mooring," he said.

He said the family decided it was time for the boat to have a new owner.

"Nobody is using it, it needs a new owner who will give it the time and get the enjoyment out of it that we had growing up," he said.

"It's a great boat, and there are many years left. Wooden boats just last."

'Next phase' for the boat

The Attrill family is full of passionate sailors and Robin's brother Peter represented Australia in sailing at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 — Tasmania's fifth Olympian and the first to represent the state in sailing.

When Robin finished building the 25-foot river cruiser, known by the family as The Breeze, it was used for trips away around Hobart.

"We used to have family trips down the channel, down to Cygnet, down to Dover, and all places in between fishing and weekends away," he said.

"We also used to go to events in Hobart like the Hobart Regatta, the Sandy Bay Regatta. We'd be down the river at any chance, or up the river. She made it to New Norfolk a couple of times.

"The boat was all over the place, wherever we could."

Mr Attrill said it would be a sad day when the boat left Montrose Bay after almost 50 years.

"We will see where it goes and where it ends up and what's the next phase for the boat," he said.

Over the years its owner has been keeping a watchful eye on it just a matter of metres away, across the Brooker Highway from his Montrose home of more than 70 years.

"He's always been there. He'd open the blinds in the morning in the kitchen and look out the window and there's the boat," son Colin said.

"It's always been a part of his life."

Vitruvius Yachts reveals 46m superyacht designed for the Bahamas

British design studio Vitruvius Yachts has revealed a new superyacht concept known as the Vitruvius Palm Beach. The 46-metre project is available for sale with Worth Avenue Yachts and has been tailored specifically for the North American market.

Several prominent shipyards are "currently bidding to bring this vision to life," according to the broker, with construction expected to begin next year.

The superyacht is designed with a low draft of two metres, making it best suited to shoal draft locations such as the Bahamas, Florida and The Chesapeake.

Accommodation is across five lower deck cabins, plus quarters for nine crew. The owner's cabin would be full-beam and features an office, dressing area, his and hers bathrooms and fold-down balcony. 

While the interior designer is unconfirmed, preliminary renderings reveal a pared back, contemporary aesthetic. The main saloon benefits from full-height windows, a "convertible" lounging and dining area for 10 guests as well as a dedicated lounge starboard.

The main deck is fitted with a formal bar and second convertible seating area aft. Another major convivial space is the sundeck, which has a large sunbathing area, a bar, barbecue and a Jacuzzi.

Meanwhile, the beach club features a pool that can operate with freshwater or saltwater. Bulwarks open either side to form a larger lounging area, which is arranged with several sunpads.

The concept also includes a tender garage able to accommodate a six-metre and two jet skis, thanks to a Solas-compliant sliding beam crane and fold-up shell door for launching and loading.

Vitruvius Palm Beach would be powered by twin CAT 32 engines for a maximum speed of 15.7 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.

This reveal follows the delivery of Vitruvius Yachts' 65.7-metre Alchemy .

Exterior Features

ALUMINIUM FROM A to Z

The hull, pilot house, superstructure and rudder are fully constructed from aluminium. A material known for being strong, light weight and stiff, low maintenance, environmentally friendly, and incredibly good-looking.

Fold down swimming platform

Lower the manually operated swim platform to extend the level floor up to the waterline. Unrestricted views over the water, dock a tender, or take a refreshing morning swim.

Lines led aft to cockpit

All sail handling operations from one central position in the cockpit, including reefing. No need to go forward on the deck in heavy weather, perfect and safe for single or short-handed use.

Protected rudder stock and engine

The rudder stock and engine are placed above the waterline in a watertight compartment. Ensuring use of the engine should water ingress occur in the aft compartment.

S heltered cockpit

Feel secure and safe under sail and at sea. The deep, safe and sheltered cockpit with a fixed dodger and integral pilot house provides shelter from spray and wind.

Pilothouse with 360° view

Integral to the Bestevaer design is the pilothouse with an all-around view. It enables navigation of the yacht in the coldest of areas from inside a warm and protected environment.

Fully ballasted keels

Choose between a fixed or centreboard keel. Both keels are fully ballasted at a ratio of almost 40% ensuring excellent sailing qualities.

Safety first

Integrated chainplates, bulkheads, aluminium bollards, diesel tanks, exterior handholds and through-hull fittings. Strength, safety and reliability are what make a Bestevaer stand out.

Watertight bulkheads

Safety is paramount on the water. To avoid ingress of water, the yacht is fitted with 2 watertight bulkheads in aft and bow, equalling 3 watertight compartments. For those looking for extra security an additional masthead bulkhead with watertight door can be fitted.

Ample storage space

With a large sail locker in the bow and deep lazarette's in the aft there’s ample space for bikes, toys, tools and provisions. Additionally, one of the interior aft cabins can be converted to a functional storage room.

You can choose between a fixed keel or a centreboard. The fixed keel has a ballast ratio of 26,5% (5.300 kg). The centreboard keel has a ballast ratio of 23% (4.600 kg). The centreboard keel is fully ballasted to ensure excellent sailing qualities.

Layout Options

Choose between a third cabin for guest or convert it to an extra storage cabin.

Tiller or Wheel

It’s mostly a matter of one´s personal taste: tiller or wheel steering. Go for the tiller if you seek a fast, agile sailing experience with a large cockpit. Looking for comfort or are you not used to a tiller? Then the wheel is your best fit.
