  1. The Vacationer

The Vacationer is an easy boat to motor due to its light weight; a small outboard is all that is needed to get around very dependably. For being a larger boat, the Vacationer is surprisingly easy to handle. The usual light weight of the monocoque design really helps at this size! The Vacationer's interior space is spacious, as one would expect ...

  2. Concensus on Stevenson's Projects Vacationer and/or Weekender

11-21-2008, 06:32 PM. Re: Concensus on Stevenson's Projects Vacationer and/or Weekender. I guy around here built one, sailed it once, was hugely disappointed, left it on its trailer for a long time (rotting), then tried to sell it for $5K. He ended up donating it to a charity auction where it was bought by a local boat builder for $100 who put ...

  5. Devlin's Eider or Stevenson's Vacationer

The Eider is 17' compared to the 21' Vacationer, quite a difference in length and volume. If you are going to trailer the boat as opposed to keeping it on a dock/mooring, the Eider will be easier to handle as a trailer-sailer. Launching and rigging a 21' boat every time you use it is going to be a chore.

  10. Why do you like the Weekender more than the Pocket Cruiser or the

People ask us why we prefer the Weekender, and is there something wrong with the other two boats? Our preference for the Weekender is mostly a personal choice, backed up by some of the points answered in other questions on the left. ... One important reason we tend to recommend the Weekender more than the Vacationer is that the Weekender can do ...

The first was the Weekender, then I think it was the Pocket Cruiser, then the queen of the fleet, the Vacationer." These three boats—the Weekender, Pocket Cruiser, and Vacationer—became the core of the Stevenson fleet. They remain highly popular and can be found sailing across the country--and around the world.

  12. Weekender

From Issue Small Boats Annual 2021 March 2020. The Weekender is a plywood gaff-sloop pocket yacht designed by Peter Stevenson and first presented to the public in a two-page article in the March 1981 issue of Popular Science magazine. In the decades that have followed, it has been a very popular design. I was drawn to its classic look and ...

I bought the Glen-L 21CB, with trailer, for $100.00 (no lie!). I recently purchased a Catalina 22 in good condition, with trailer, for $2600.00. The Catalina 22 is similar in size to the Vacationer, has larger (self-draining) cockpit, pop-top cabin roof for standing cabin headroom, dinette, settee, galley, potti, and can sleep 4.

  14. The Stevenson Projects' Weekender

The Weekender has been our most popular boat design for many years, and we understand why: It has a Classic Style, based loosely on the amazginly pretty Friendship Sloops of New England, and the Weekender is a perfect size for "simply messing about in boats"! It's small enough to be easy to handle, to build, and to store, yet it's still roomy ...

  17. Stevenson Vacationer Plans Updated?

Members. 1. Posted February 9, 2012. I'm brand new to this forum. For many reasons, I've decided to revisit Vacationer plans I bought in 2006. 21. Vacationer Swing Keel

The Helsen 22 is a considerable different boat then a Vacationer and comparison is quite difficult. Firstly the Helsen is a 2,200 pounds of displacement on a 19' LWL, round bilge, with about 900 pounds of ballast in it's stub keel, making for a fairly healthy ballast ratio and righting arm. The Helsen was also designed to the first generation ...
