New Dry Dock at Hurlingham YC, Putney
- Thread starter Coastgal
- Start date 2 Jun 2009
Not sure if many of you are aware of the Hurlingham Yacht Club in Putney. It's underneath the railway/pedestrian bridge on the south side of the River. We've spent the last year building a new dry dock (to replace our much loved, but very worn old dock) and it's now up and running and open for business. Our members have tested it out and are extremely pleased with this new facility, with flexible side supports that can hold 20' to 50' boats. The Club has a landing pontoon, trailer/rib park, dinghy moorings, an excellent clubhouse with bar, riverside terrace, kitchen, toilets & showers, as well as a working boatyard with lots of equipment for repairing and rebuilding boats. New members are always welcome /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif If you’re interested in using the dry dock or want to know more about membership, please contact the HYC on 020 8788 5547. Thanks for listening /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif - Stacey
Do you have any photos? I think its a great opportunity and perhaps a web page with photos and pricing would bring some income in for your club? Good luck with it.
Often passed by but never thought of stopping. I hope you guys have loads of success, sounds like an excellent facility.
Thanks Apollo - that's a great idea. We'll post some photos on our website: www.hurlingham-yachtclub.co.uk Cheers - Stacey
Hi Byron - next time you're passing at HW +/- 2hrs, you can tie up on our pontoon and drop in for a drink. There's normally someone about, particularly on sunny Sundays, enjoying sundowners on the terrace /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Cheers - Stacey

Bit of reminiscing ....I remember back in the 50's a new dry dock (barge) being delivered.

Wind protection
Protection next night
Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation .
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 5 timer siden (Saturday 17 August 07:16 PM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions . You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here .
