History of Brenta Yachts

Brenta Design, now known as Michael Schmidt Yachtbau (MSY), is a prestigious boat manufacturer renowned for creating high-end, luxury sailing yachts. The company was originally founded in Italy in 1980 by Lorenzo Argento and Luca Brenta with the vision to create innovative boats. The company underwent a significant change in 2014 when Michael Schmidt, the founder of Hanse Yachts, acquired Brenta Design. This Brenta 30, made in Italy in 2022 is perfect for those looking for a performance cruiser as it has a high stability and is manually driven. Featuring 8.92 meters in overall length and 2.32 meters in beam, it comfortably seats six to eight people in the cockpit and is steered with a tiller.

Considering the loads generated by this high stability type of boats, a size of 30ft has been set as the limit. Naturally a number of choices followed, as the steering tiller choice, a different yet very interesting seating solution for 6/8 people in the cockpit.

Nach dem großen Interesse und Erfolg des B38 ist das Interesse an einem rein manuell angetriebenen Boot geweckt worden. In Anbetracht der Lasten, die durch diese Art von Booten mit hoher Stabilität erzeugt werden, wurde eine Größe von 30 Fuß als Grenze festgelegt. Natürlich folgte eine Reihe von Wahlmöglichkeiten, wie die Wahl der Steuerpinne, eine andere, aber sehr interessante Sitzlösung für 6/8 Personen im Cockpit.

Suite au grand intérêt et au succès du B38, un intérêt pour un bateau à propulsion purement manuelle a été généré. Compte tenu des charges générées par ce type de bateaux à haute stabilité, une taille de 30 pieds a été fixée comme limite. Naturellement, un certain nombre de choix ont suivi, comme celui de la barre franche, une solution différente mais très intéressante pour 6/8 personnes dans le cockpit.

The new B34 project is the first of the new generation of daysailer boats designed by Luca Brenta, for the pure essence of sailing. At LBY we say “the best comes out of dreams that you have deep inside”.

The mission and concept behind the project, is to conceive a monohull boat of 10 mt., a very fast boat on the water in real time, no rating tricks that compromise water lines, elegant sleek look, a yacht simple to handle also single handed or double handed. No need for crew, if owners want a daysailing tour on his own.

Water lines take inspiration to the bigger custom boats designed by Luca Brenta in the last years, with their distinct elegant look. You will be able to tell is a Brenta boat from distance. The construction will take advantage of the most advanced technologies, with infused hybrid carbon fabric coupled to 100% carbon structure and reinforcement, with epoxy resins post cured. A must for a light and stiff boat. The T keel will be made in weldox steel, paired with a lead T bulb. An optional high modulus carbon mast and boom is available , coupled to rod rigging and many standard high teach, latest generation racing accessories complete the performance and look of deck layout. The upwind sail surface is around 68 sqm, while reaching with a top mast head gennaker will top up at 180 sqm. thanks also to the integrated elegant 1 mt. bowsprit. Fractional halyard for heavier wind gennaker also available. Also on the cruising side many options are available, as a removable cockpit table, a bimini over cockpit, spray hood, hot shower in cockpit, removable swimming ladder.

B34 is a daysailer with weekender capability for the more sportive sailors. The light and technological advanced construction , with a minimal and light interior, sleek and fast water lines, meets the concept of a pure racing cruising boat , therefore we see that the B34 will also can be read as a “Luxury Racer”.

Above Decks

The B34 has an very generous cockpit that can accommodate 6 people, sitting on the two lateral benches, standard electric winches for trimming halyards and sail sheet available. The jib feature a self tacking track , while the integrated hull bowsprit allows simple lunching of a Code Zero or Gennaker, when the wind angle widens reaching.

Below Decks

The interiors will reflect the minimalistic and elegant look approach of Luca Brenta. Starting on the bow we find a twin bed, then coming aft in the mast area we have a garment locker on the left side and wc toilet hidden in a bench furniture with over hanging locker. Coming aft in the central section we find two sofa/beds with two half size forniture on each side that host a fridge and optional cooking stove and sink on the other side.

Boat overturns on Snake River; two people swim to shore

RIRIE — A boat overturned on the Snake River on Monday.

Dispatch received a call at 2:30 p.m. near the Byington Boat Dock East of Ririe, according to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. They were told that two people were in a boat and swam to shore.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene and found the pair. They told deputies they were having mechanical issues when the small boat hit a gravel bar and flipped over, the release said.

No injuries were reported, and deputies helped them get back to the boat ramp.

Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the sheriff’s office said both people were not wearing life jackets and they were cited.

The sheriff’s office provided reminders when recreating on the water.

• Always plan for safety before you go.
• Cold water temperatures and winter runoff conditions can be very hazardous even in still or slow-moving current conditions.
• The window of opportunity to self-rescue from the water can be mere seconds before hypothermia sets in.
• Boats can overturn in a second, leaving no time to stop and put on a life jacket.
• Wearing a life jacket or personal floatation device at all times will significantly increase your ability to self-rescue and survive if you end up in the water.
