“We always start a project with a clean slate as a way to investigate and double check the choices available and to match the briefs from the sales force closely. There is no specific change you need to make once you go over a 100’ but just continue observing the mathematics and laws of physics. Specifically: length changes linearly, areas are squared, volume is cubed, stability varies to the 4th exponent”.

The innovative deck layout comes in two solutions for the cockpit. The owner can choose a step in the aft deck area or a completely flush deck. Both solutions mean that the area is suitable for sunbathing or just as a lounge area to sit and relax.

The innovative coachroof is beautiful yet functional with an extra-large companionway leading to the saloon to give an idea of continuity with the cockpit. Innovation isn’t only in style but also functionality, for example helm stations have been moved forward and in a higher position to enhance visibility and control of the yacht bringing the aft part of the cockpit completely available for sunbathing, relaxation and the beach club area.

We revisited the shapes and technical surfaces of the coachroof, modeling the lines to reach a point of maximum balance by playing with aerodynamics and proportions. We needed to find a new and timeless style that carries the Swan brand forward, a boat conceived around a new luxury where the future reinterprets the classic”.

Timeless Classic

The yacht is fitted with natural materials such as linen, cotton and leather in shades of white, naturally light colours, natural brown and putty tones for leather. These blend with light durmast wood, giving the yacht a sophisticated feel and bringing warm, sunny countries to mind.

TraditionalNavy

Linens and cottons in navy blue and shaded white blend with various shades of tobacco in fabric and leather. There is also the traditional wood used for sailing, namely natural teak, taking those on board back to the long-established seafaring concept of historical sailing clubs.

Natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are featured in different shades of wine, Cowes red and the fundamental shaded white. There is also “drunken” leather and Canaletto walnut, bringing to mind the Admiral’s Cup and Fastnet Race triumphs of sports sailing.

Spirit of Finland

A typical modern Swan interior featuring an under-stated Nordic approach with use of hand-crafted timbers and seaworthy detailing. Light European oak and walnut floorboards are paired with carefully selected performance fabrics in light natural colours and earthy leather accents for a soft touch. First look: Interiors of first Swan 108 sailing yacht Fancy revealed

Nautor Swan has released all-new interior imagery of its first Swan 108 sailing yacht Fancy . This follows the 35-metre model's successful sea trials in July, at the Gulf of Bothnia in Finland. 

The Swan 108 is an evolution of the current Maxi yacht line, featuring modified exterior styling by Micheletti + Partners and naval architecture by German Frers . Interior configurations and styling have been devised by Misa Poggi and aim to provide owners and guests with "air, light and space".

"I choose light colours to give an idea of breadth and dark colours for a more intimate atmosphere. Everything should give the idea of being immersed in a bright space in perfect harmony with the outside," continued Poggi. Renderings reveal a warm colour palette of cream and brown, with soft backlighting and merlot furniture accents. The main saloon is arranged with a plush U-shaped settee, coffee table with ottoman seating and an eight-person dining table adjacent. 

One of the most important evolutions of the Swan 108 is its dual-acting transom door, which sees the stern open along with part of the aft deck to create a generous waterfront beach club. According to the yard, the solution allows double the space than on comparable Maxis, while also allowing easier tender operations.

Other smart design choices include widened coamings on the aft part of the cockpit, allowing an alternative outboard position for steering stations without compromising on helm protection.

Described as a "proper bluewater yacht", the Swan 108 is designed with moderate freeboards like its fellow Swan sailing yachts, offering "great comfort" in rough seas and the ability to handle "gently in waves".

The Swan 108 also guarantees owners simple and efficient sail systems, with in-boom furling for those looking to cruise or a racing square top mainsail for owners planning to compete in international regattas.

“The Swan 108 marks a new era in the Swan Maxi range at Nautor,” said Giovanni Pomati, Nautor Group CEO. “The project, launched in 2021 during the Regate di Primavera in Portofino, has been like drawing a beautiful painting. Like a painter meticulously chooses his palette, we made a very intense research of talents that were able to put on the table their know-how and blend it with the other, to create a beautiful and unique product.”

Construction on the second unit is already underway in Finland. According to BOATPro , Nautor Swan has a total of four yachts currently under construction – including a unit from its second-largest series, the Swan 128.

The new Swan 108 is being touted as the first in a new line of maxis, but will it live up to the famous maxi Swans that have come before?

Product Overview

Nautor’s latest model – billed as being the first in the yard’s new Maxi Swan era – was launched in June this year and underwent sea trials in Finland’s Gulf of Ostrobothnia, ahead of the Monaco Yacht Show (September 27-30).

The yacht is the result of a collaboration between naval architect German Frers, interior designer Misa Poggi, and Lucio Micheletti who was responsible for exterior styling. The first images emphasise stunning sleek lines and a powerful twin-rudder hull shape, with a wide transom and soft chines aft.

Hull and deck are of full carbon, while the four spreader rig sets a near 350m2 (6,977ft2) of upwind sail area. Yet the high form stability hull is designed to limit heel angles to under 20º, even when close-hauled, for comfort at sea. Two principle keel options are offered: a fixed 4.9m (16ft 1in) draught fin, or a telescopic keel with 3.4m draught when raised and 5.2m lowered.

Hull No2 is already under construction.

Swan 108: the new 35m yacht from Nautor Swan

New generation Maxi Swan

Finnish shipyard Nautor Swan continues to expand its Maxi Swan range. Recently, the shipyard launched its first 35-meter sailing yacht. Nautor Swan herself calls the new model an evolutionary step for the entire line of modern Maxi class yachts. 

The exterior was designed by Micheletti & Partners, the interiors were handled by Missa Pogi, and the architecture was handled by the legendary Herman Frers . The new Swan 108 is built from carbon and epoxy resin. Now this model will take place between the other flagships of the shipyard - Swan 98 and Swan 120.

By the way, one of the main features of the new sailing superyacht will be a large folding platform on the transom, which will allow you to spend time on the water or just sunbathe. 

According to the shipyard, such a large platform is a curiosity for Maxi yachts, but, as tests have shown, it is very comfortable and functional. In addition, thanks to the stern platform, interaction with the tender has been simplified. Other design and engineering innovations include extended cockpit coamings.

Swan 108 - a yacht for long distances

The sailing Swan 108 was originally positioned as a yacht that was created for the sea, speeds and “long marches”. As the yard describes the yacht, “Swan is able to provide comfort and calm in rough seas, and also demonstrates calm and confident movement in the most unpredictable situations.”

The Swan 108 comes with a versatile set of sails. The shipyard pays special attention to the fact that the mainsail not only has a boom twist, but also has a square top, which is ideal for fans of sailing and regattas.

The interior of the yacht is made in light colors with small patches of dark shades. As Missa Pogi, who was in charge of interior design, says: “I choose light colors to create an atmosphere and show how much space there is on board. Dark shades are used for a more, shall we say, intimate atmosphere. Everything around should create a feeling of immersion in a bright space in complete harmony with the outside world.”

Shipyard representatives say that the Swan 108 will mark the beginning of a new era in the Swan Maxi line. The Swan 108 will make its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2023, and the second side is already under construction in Finland.

How much should i tip the boat captain/crew.

The crew will work hard to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable time on board. If you have enjoyed your charter we would suggest a 10% is customary.

How do I confirm a yacht charter?

To confirm a charter we will send you a charter agreement for signature and invoice for a deposit. The owner will counter-sign the charter agreement and then your charter will be confirmed

What else will I need to pay for?

In addition to the charter fee you will pay an Advanced Charter Allowance (ACA) from which the cost for all food and drink for the duration of the charter, fuel, marina and any other additional expenses will be deducted.

What happens once I have booked?

Once you have booked a cruising charter we will be in touch to gather your charter preferences including dietary preferences, meal times and itinerary. We will liaise with the chef to arrange a proposed menu for the charter and put you in touch with the crew via Whatsapp chat.

What are high and low season dates for Caribbean cruising charters

High Season includes the Christmas and New Year period (approx 28th December – 7th January) and 2 weeks around Easter

Can I charter a yacht for a corporate event?

Yes, we offer corporate yacht charters that are perfect for team-building exercises and other corporate functions.

What insurance will I need?

The yacht is fully insured but you will need your own personal insurance that covers yacht racing

Do I need an owners rep/boat captain and what role will they have?

Most of our yachts have to come with a boat captain / owner’s representative; this person isn’t there to be the skipper and they can fit into your team wherever you need. There knowledge of the boat can help you get the best performance from the boat and minimise avoidable damage.

Eating out as a crew?

If you decide to venture out as a group and wish to include the permanent crew, please remember that what is your holiday is their job. If you would like to show your appreciation for all their hard work in making your holiday a success by asking them to join you for a night out, then please be kind enough to pay for their expenses.

What is racing yacht charter?

Racing yacht charter is a unique opportunity that allows you to charter a race prepared yacht with your team and participate in regattas around the world. We can cater for race charter opportunites from a group of friends wanting a fun regatta in the sun to a professional team looking for silverwear.

Do I need sailing experience to participate in a racing yacht charter?

Sailing experience requirements varies according to yacht and regatta of choice. Some yachts like a Volvo 65 require more sailing experience than joining the team on a 40′ racer cruiser. When arranging your charter with you we discuss any pre-requisite experience with you.

What is the duration of a racing yacht charter?

For most racing charters your schedule will include 2 training days prior to the event start date, for offshore races a third day for boat preparation will also be included.

What additional costs should I expect?

In addition to the charter fee you may pay a security deposit and an Advanced Charter Allowance (ACA) to cover charter related costs including race entry, berthing and other charter related costs.

Can you arrange accommodation?

Yes, we offer a regatta concierge service which means that in addition to arranging your race entry and berthing we can also recommend and book accommodation ashore, flights, transfers and restaurant bookings as well as much more.* * 10% service charge applies for regatta concierge services

Once you have booked a charter we will be in touch to gather crew information in order to handle the race entry on your behalf. As the regatta date approaches we will connect you with the Boat Captain via Whatsapp chat and provide useful information on both the event and on the location. We are available at any time via phone or email to answer any other questions or queries you may have.

What is the security deposit for?

The security deposit is to cover damage to the yacht, that is more than just general wear and tear that would be expected when racing. In the worst case scenario it will cover the excess should there be the need for a claim on the yacht’s insurance. However, it is also there to cover less serious damage that does not warrant an insurance claim like damages to sails. If there is no damage then we will refund the security deposit in the week following the charter. If there are any damages the value of these damages will be assessed and the balance of the security deposit refunded after these costs have been deducted.

The New Swan 108 Hits the Finnish Waters

The new Swan 108 has been recently hitting the waters of the Gulf of Ostrobothnia in Finland. The results of her first seatrials where extremely positive, and she is ready to sail the Mediterranean waters in the upcoming weeks.

The 33 meters Maxi Swan, which will be débuting at Monaco Yacht Show , from the 27th to 30th September, is the result of the amazing research of talents, skillfully orchestrated by Giovanni Pomati, our CEO, able to put on the table their combined know-how, to create a beautiful and unique yacht. The team at Nautor worked closely with Maestro Germàn Frers for naval architecture, Misa Poggi for interiors, and Micheletti + Partners for the exteriors.

Positioned between the Swan 98 and Swan 120 , the Swan 108 is based on the evolution of the previous Maxi Swan, particularly in regard to the exterior lines, but with the addition of innovative solutions never applied before by the Finnish yard.

The sail plan takes advantage of the brand’s experience in building performance cruiser yachts for efficiency and easily managed sailing. For the mainsail any possibility, from the cruising oriented in-boom furling to racing square top mainsail, is available, while the long base of the fore triangle allows having up to four stays to divide the forward sail area.

The interiors, designed by Nautor’s interior team and Misa Poggi, offer great livability and comfort for both the owner and guests. The yacht has an owner’s suite forward plus three guest cabins complete with private heads.
