Ed Horstman designs started in 1960 with the TRI-STAR 40. In 1966, it was the first trimaran to race in the Transpac and took second place! The TRI-STAR 38's fine sailing features are complemented with high under wing clearance and full bouncy amas that are spaced to reduce wave interplay. The TRI-STAR's flush deck unitized construction gives strength and maximum interior accommodations and the safety of an uncluttered deck for lounging and easy sail handling area for the most inexperienced of sailors. True windward performance is achieved with raisable high aspect ratio dagger boards in each ama. Horstman trimarans are usually home built, but this one was built by a seasoned shipwright in Seattle.

Scooped bows allow easy tacking, excellent watchkeeping, make docking easier, and funnels a breeze down the hatches.

Three large Lewmar Ocean Series deck hatches provide excellent ventilation

Full beam solid decks and minimal nets make for the safest deck working area, allowing sail handling and boat projects to be done on deck, and transfer all rig and wave loads through the entire structure rather than just through crossbeams

All transitions from one area to another are one step. One step from galley to cockpit. One step from cockpit to outer cockpits and one step from outers to deck.

High bridge deck clearance minimize wave pounding and sneezing.

Batteries are located high in the cockpit seating, keeping them out of the bilge and engine room. Maintaining power if the hull ever floods.

The moulded swimstep and handles in the transom make getting in and out of the water easy.

Built to be self-serviceable and self-reliant, everything is accessible and serviceable.

Built by a seasoned shipwright in Seattle, Robert Braggins built three of these Horstman trimarans. This hull was his personal yacht for 15 years.

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. NOTE of interest: See Casanova's letter regarding their passage in their TRI-STAR 38/39. The TRI-STAR 39 is the above TRI-STAR 42 design that I reduced 10% to the TRI-STAR 38 design. Casanova's wanted a Trimaran closer in size to there TRI-STAR 35 they had first built and sailed 3/4 around the world in and now wanted a larger trimaran like the TRISTAR 38/39. The last line above says it all for both designs.

TRI-STAR 42 started the "second century" of TRI-STAR Trimaran design incorporating the many firsts in TRI-STAR Trimaran design. TRI-STAR 42 has the new flared main hull [your option] for increased interior room and is capable of carrying a true cruising pay load. TRI-STAR 42 has spacious and comfortable interior, starting in the stern you have a private aft cabin with a spacious double berth, just forward you have the protection of a dog house and below the spacious cockpit sole is the engine room. The main hull has spacious accommodations for dinning and lounging with 8 feet of width at the under wing deck and now with the added flared hull you have 18 inches more room for seating. The foreword compartment of the main hull may be set up with a % bath vanity. For comfortable sleeping accommodations each AMA has a double private stateroom with over 6 feet of head room. TRI-STAR 42 may be set up to sleep 8 if need be.

TRI-STAR 42 flush deck's unitized construction provides a spacious enjoyable interior with full headroom throughout. TRI-STAR 42's flush deck's low silhouette and greater bow height gives more bow buoyancy and a safer and dryer Trimaran. The growth in suburban house prices in 2021 can be as high as 15%. This prognosis was voiced by the participants of Moscow’s real estate market. Housing near Moscow has already gone up in value by 7%, and before the end of the year, this number is quite likely to rise by another 2–3%. The pandemic has changed the trends on the suburban real estate market – the current demand for detached houses is noticeably higher than before the global outbreak of Covid-19, and this naturally influences the cost of residential homes, say the experts. They also note that traditionally, the fall-winter period has always been considered a time of low demand for houses for sale in Russia; however, the opposite is now the case.

Here are the Moscow real estate categories to consider when buying a house in Russia:

• By direction and location (Rublyovka, Novaya Riga, Barvikha);
• By classification ( luxury , business class, economy);
• By development format (townhouses, detached private homes).

When purchasing homes in Moscow, Russia, a good rule of thumb is to select houses within an 18.6-mile (30 km) radius from the center of Moscow. This ensures you will get a well-developed infrastructure, and that the chosen location will be replete with hospitals and schools.

We recommend considering the West, South and North directions just out of Moscow. You may notice that country houses are noticeably cheaper on the capital’s Eastern side.
