SCAMMED BY SPIRIT OF LAUDERDALE. Really disappointed in the cruise. Booked our cruise morning of as it came as we were looking for things to do in FLL, but after landing in Florida, our travel group was not feeling well & as a result, we had asked Tropical Sailing for a refund as I'm sure they had not done anything to prepare for our family to get on the cruise as we had just booked that morning. When I had called, they were absolutely RUDE & not accommodating. This phone call alone would make me not book with them again because of their lack of customer service. They are MONEY HUNGRY & don't care about the customer whatsoever. I would NOT recommend Tropical Sailing whether in Miami or FLL. Our family feels scammed and this company clearly lacks customer service. Unprofessional & I wouldn't waste your time.

We had family and friends in town for the 4th of July weekend so we wanted to do something fun. My husband booked this catamaran trip and we were stoked to check it out. We went on July 3rd on a Sunday and it was a beautiful day out. Sunny with 10% chance of rain, which is good for summer in Florida. The weather was perfect. We arrived to Bahia Mar Marina and checked in at the Tropical Sailing office by the main entrance, located behind Market Cafe. Once we checked in, we went over to the marina where the catamaran was located. There was a group total of maybe 30 people on our cruise. Our captain was Ernesto aka "E" and then Nick who was the bartender/first mate. E and Nick were awesome. E had jokes all day long and was so good about informing everyone about rules and things to do and not do. Nick was so good catering to our kids, we had 13 people total in our party and 7 of those were kids. He was great about tending to them and making sure the kids were happy for the duration of the cruise They offered free snacks, bottled water and sodas with the ticket price. You could open a tab and buy alcoholic beverages during the cruise. They had beer, White Claw and wine. Very affordable prices. Worth it if you want to drink. We sailed to Fort Lauderdale Beach area in the middle of the ocean and they put out the water mat and trampoline. And the water slide was in full effect. We got to hang and lounge here for maybe 1-2 hours? Hard to say as we didn't keep track of time and we were too busy having fun to notice. It was a good amount of time though for everyone to jump in the water and play. When it was time to leave, E and Nick pulled everything out of the water while most of us lounged on the net. You can only lay on the net when the catamaran is not moving. We sailed back to the marina and almost everyone was passed out and dunzo! What an awesome day on the catamaran. Great fun had by all. Thanks E and Nick for taking care of us. You guys rocked and make this cruise so much better! Thank you. We'll recruit more people and we'll be back soon!

My daughter and I had the best time with this crew Vic and E. Super efficient and great captains and very knowledgeable. We had a good amount of people on the boat and swimming in the ocean was great. We wish we could have stayed on longer. It was amazing.

What an awesome experience!! My son and I did the cruise last month while he was on Spring Break. The crew was fantastic and my 13 year old son (who doesn't like much of anything right now), had a blast. I'm excited to go back in a few weeks.

Beware...not a good experience! My 2 friends and I were really excited and looking forward to a sunset cruise with Tropical Sailing in Fort Lauderdale, however, we were extremely regretful after this experience. The reservation confirmation says covid protocol procedures would be strictly enforced and we found that was 100% not true. While starting a tab at the bar, the captain asked my friend what her name was, how do you spell it, and where was she from. She responded, "Alisha, I'm from Atlanta." He responded, "that's a very Atlanta way to spell your name." (Alisha is a caucasian woman, while the rest of us are POC) Infer what one may, this remark set the tone in how they treat their guests. While we respectfully distanced during the whole excursion, the captain later encouraged a group of 20-25 to move to where we were seated to get a group photo. My friend loudly protested how uncomfortable she was with 20+ unmasked people suddenly was on top of her, with little regard of her personal space. The captain unsuccessfully asked the group to "move over 2 feet" to which no one did. After the excursion, I waited till almost all guests had left the boat to privately speak to the captain about the experience. His inability and reluctance to see another perspective was clear. Even after I tried repeatedly to pay for the 2 glasses of wine we ordered, to which he said "was on the house, but you can tip me cash." Making cash tips superseded the safety and experience of certain guests. To further sour the experience, I tried corresponding with the company's manager, Captain Adam Bailey, to come to a resolution and have a conversation. He had the same dismissive and uninterested attitude as his employees. After 2 weeks of emails, I informed him that I would dispute the charges with my credit card company (American Express has excellent customer service) and informed him I would post my review where he maturely responded, "I am actually writing your report now, but go ahead, do your worst. I do not respond well to threats." I have traveled around the world and chartered many boat excursions, from Thailand, Mexico, Barbados, and Central California....never have I had an experience as terrible as this outing with Tropical Sailing. Can't blame it on a language barrier, the message was clear that only certain clientele mattered.

Horrible service I booked this activity and I was disappointed with the service I received. The captain Vic was disrespectful  and very degrading towards my wife and I. From the beginning of the trip he made everything uncomfortable with his jokes and he targeted me because We are two women. There was a heterosexual couple that arrived at the same time as us and bo issue was made. Very unprofessional, never thought he would target us because we are a same sex couple but from the beginning he seemed to have an issue about everything with us. I was receiving an important phone call and Vic decided he needed to single me out and ask me if I am picking out a tinder date, he continued with his disrespectful comments, highly inappropriate and I don't see the need for such a comments. Not sure if his problem is because we are two woman in a relationship but I will not be recommending this service to anyone.   We have booked many activities with different companies and have never experienced such an inappropriate and uncomfortable moment

Wanting a romantic, beautiful and inexpensive short getaway? Book the sunset excursion with this boat! Yeah, we had some cloud cover, but it still didn't take away from the beautiful scenary water and homes you'll see on this jaunt. Our captain and crew mate were great! For 3-4 dollars you can buy beer or wine. An intimate, smaller crowd- maybe like 7 couples total made for lots of space and great conversation. Do yourself a favor and book this one today! Was amazing!

Cruise Description

The  Sail and Swim Catamaran Cruise  will take you on a scenic and relaxing cruise in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  The cruise will go past the beautiful homes along Fort Lauderdale's Intracostal Waterway, also known as the "Venice of America" and "Millionaires Row".  This is your opportunity to view beautiful mansions, mega yachts, historic sites and the exciting array of dining and shopping options in Fort Lauderdale. You will cruise through Port Everglades which is home to the largest cruise ships in the world.  After cruising through the port, the catamaran will set sail along the Atlantic Ocean where you will have time to relax and enjoy the ocean breezes until the catamaran cruise drops anchor for the swim stop.

This catamaran will take you sailing into the Atlantic Ocean. The sea breeze and fresh air will provide for a very memorable sailing experience.  Caribbean music will be playing in the background while breaking waves provide the tropical rhythm. Relax and inhale the sites while sipping on an ice cool beverage served by the friendly crew. Sit back and relax while sailing to the swim stop in shallow water along the first reef.

After the catamaran drops anchor, the real fun begins with your arrival to the swim stop.  Slide down on the water slide into the blue tropical water of south Florida and play on the giant water trampoline. Soak up the sun on the boat deck.  Float in the water with swim noodles and other water toys.

The Sail and Swim Catamaran Cruise includes soft drinks, snacks and bottled water. Guests may bring their own food. Small soft sided coolers are allowed. All other coolers are not allowed.

What will you need to bring on your sailing trip to The Florida Keys?

Due to the various tastes and consumption abilities of our guests, we have found that the best practice is B.Y.O.B.  We will include all non-alcoholic mixers, sodas, water, juices and sports drinks.  If it is not convenient to bring your own alcohol, we are happy to purchase it on your behalf and have the boat fully stocked and ready for your arrival at no additional charge. The cost of the beer, wine and alcohol will be added to the final amount. 

Your trip will be a relaxing experience, so don’t come with more baggage than you need. Obviously if you are boarding for a day sail catamaran rental you can omit the overnight as sundries.  Aside from your daily change of clothes, you only need to carry the following items: •    Bathing suit •    Sunscreen (creams preferred over sprays to avoid overspray on deck or cushions) •    Camera •    Hat •    Sunglasses •    Flip-flops or other slip-on shoes •    Soft suitcase or duffel bags for easy storage after unpacking. •    A Kindle or a great book. •    A favourite mask & snorkel- we have some, but if you are partial to, bring it. •    A face covering for onshore activities for the occasional requirement Also, we advise you to bring a waterproof camera to record your underwater adventures.

We thoroughly enjoyed Captain Lindsey. If you can’t hear or understand her, then frankly, you may want to invest in a hearing aid. No loud obnoxious microphone needed, just well thought out historical information regarding Fort Lauderdale, with some funny jokes thrown in for good measure.

Just what we were looking for We have been coming to Ft Lauderdale for decades and have been looking for a sunset cruise to view the magnificent waterways, yachts and homes. We took the 1 1/2 hour cruise. I was impressed with the design and quietness of the battery powered boat. The price was reasonable. Captain Rocco was one of those people who loves their job. He even dropped us off at the 15 Street Fisheries where we had a memorable dinner. A most excellent evening !

Family and pet friendly tour We had a great time on our tour! We opted for a bottle of wine on board and that was really nice to have. Our captain was great at sharing so much information with us about what we were passing by and made a couple of special turns to show us things that interested us specifically. Our dog enjoyed the tour and well and even got a treat! It was a fun, relaxing and adventurous time on the water! Thank you Intimate waterways.

BEST Boat Ride in FL Area

My girl and I booked this boat ride when we went on vacation in the FL area on Aug 19 around 7 pm, wanted to see the sunset. This was the best boat ride we have ever had. Our captain was “Christina”, she shared the town history and showed us all the multi-million dollar homes! Such a fun, safe, relaxing environment, a great way to spend the day! Thank you! We had blast and she also stopped at a nice view to take pictures. Definitely would recommend it!

So, here are three relaxing activities that can be done on or with a boat.

Choose early morning or twilight hours for cooler temperatures and quieter surroundings. Drop an anchor in a quiet cove or bay to do some breath work . Focus on the natural sound of water, close your eyes, and meditate for a couple of minutes. Bring a journal and annotate how the change in surroundings made you feel. Go with a more spacious boat for added comfort.

Hop on a center console , or cruiser. Find your spot on the water and watch the sun dip below the horizon. Add soft music, comfortable seating, and perhaps some light refreshments to amplify the relaxation factor.
