The 14 Best Dive Bars In Atlanta
Little Five is the divey epicenter of ATL. Almost every bar in that hood could be classified as a dive, but Euclid Avenue Yacht Club is the quirkiest and one of the oldest. Their door says “membership not required,” but if it was, we’d absolutely pay the fee to belong to this dive bar staple in Little Five. The walls are stuffed with nautical-themed knickknacks (a giant shark, a bust of a mermaid) that look like they’ve been on the walls since the bar opened in the ’80s. After a few reliable beers, we’ll need one of their massive and messy burgers to keep our sea legs. Our favorite is the Backyard Burger with a spicy jalapeño ranch slaw dripping out the sides. Sure, there are plenty of places to get a burger and a brew in L5P, but Yacht Club's small space and nautical theme is our siren song for a wild night.

Iconic Little Five Points dive bar Euclid Avenue Yacht Club could reopen as soon as this spring, and it’s under new ownership, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. After temporarily closing the 33-year-old bar on Euclid Avenue last March due to the pandemic, Donald “Hippie” Hinamon sold the business to Manuel “Manny” Maloof this past fall.
Maloof also owns Grant Park bar Manny’s on Woodward Avenue. Hinamon and Maloof were discussing the deal prior to the health crisis, with Maloof possibly becoming a major investor in the bar. The pandemic altered those plans.
Don’t expect much to change in terms of the Yacht Club’s layout or quirky decor. Maloof will make a few necessary updates to the bar’s plumbing, grease traps, and toilets in the restrooms to make those Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant. The black ceiling over the bar will be repainted white for “cleaning purposes” because the area is used for prepping food and beverages. A few new dishes could be added to the menu. Fingers crossed Maloof keeps the bar’s Brunswick stew, barbecue pork egg rolls, and Yacht tots.
Hinamon opened the Yacht Club in 1987 inside a former jewelry store along Euclid Avenue. Over the years, the bar has built up a very loyal band of regulars who come to shoot the breeze over cheap canned beer or dive bar classics like a Jack and Coke and $5 hurricanes. Hinamon closed the bar in mid-March right as the health crisis began in Georgia and as Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms prepared to close bars and restaurants across the city. A GoFundMe continues to accept donations for the Yacht Club’s staff.
Under Georgia’s current coronavirus order , restaurants no longer carry capacity limits in the dining room and on patios. Dining room, bar, and patio seating must allow for at least six feet between tables and other diners or install physical barriers between tables or seating arrangements. Bars in Georgia are limited to no more than 50 people or 35-percent total capacity.
A citywide mask mandate remains in place for Atlanta. However, owners of restaurants and other private businesses can choose to opt out of enforcing a local mask mandate on their property, per the latest statewide coronavirus order.
Update, Jan. 9, 7:45 a.m.: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Manuel “Manny” Maloof was the son of Manuel’s Tavern owner Brian Maloof and has been updated.

Solid spot for beer, cocktails or tots. Yes, the tater tots are great - you can get them plain or Yacht Tots which are basically loaded tots. There are plenty of bar seats and outdoor seating as well. Tecate is only $3.50 - almost unheard of these days. Definitely enjoy stopping by the Yacht Club for a classic dive bar experience when I'm in Atlanta.
I have been dying to come here and I finally got the chance! I was going to a show at Aisle 5 with some friends so we popped in here about an hour before start and we were not disappointed. Plenty of space to sit which was awesome and you order at the bar! I love the Lowkey vibe and tax is included in all prices so your total is a round number which I thought was cool. I got the $3 draft of PBR and the Cuban sandwich with fries. The food came out PIPING hot!! That sandwich was delicious and different from your traditional Cuban and it came with this great spicy salsa. The fries were thin and crispy as well. Overall such a great experience. Best dive bar and a must stop in L5P
Cuban Sandwich Fries
Fun stop before a show at Variety Playhouse! Great boiled peanuts to snack on and the jalapeños slaw was nice and crunchy.
Pickleback shot and an Ultra
While in the five points neighborhood, I stumbled upon this gem of a dive bar. Barely 6pm on a Friday that brought its fair share of rain and sunshine, ducking into this spot was a great choice. I initially stopped in to use their restroom as my friend was on a deep dive through cds and vinyls across the street (in a place that didn't have restrooms - dernit). After that pit stop, I came back out and realized that this spot was really on fire! The bar was lined with chatty guests, at least 3 of the booths had parties in them and outside, some guests lingered enjoying the Sun which decided to come out for us. So I figured, "why the heck not?" and opted to chill for a bit. The bartender noticed me and assisted me so quickly, despite also handling everyone else at the bar. So appreciated! I decided to go for a raspberry sour + an order of cracklins,, and opted to sit outside. My beer was ice cold and the cracklins hot af and so fresh. They were still crackling when I got them! They were also very well-seasoned. I loved that the bartender stuck his head out the door to see if I enjoyed them :) When my friend joined me and I told her that they also had boiled peanuts (a fave of us both) she decided to grab an order + a beer. Man, I'm so glad she went for the boiled peanuts because they were delicious! I don't love everyone's boiled peanuts, lol but these were legit and so flavorful. I ended up buying two more orders, one for home and another for the moment we finished polishing off the first order lol. Such a cool, down to earth vibe. I can't wait to come back and try more of the teams' faves. Yum!
I was in Little 5 Points for a concert at Variety Playhouse so we needed a place for quick dinner before the show. There's plenty of space inside and it's pretty quiet which we appreciated. You can seat yourself and then order at the bar. I got a draft of PBR for $3 (love a deal) and the jerk chicken philly. The food came out super quick and super hot! I absolutely loved my sandwich, the jerk chicken had so much flavor and the onions and peppers were grilled to perfection. My tater tots on the side were pretty yummy too. Overall, a really chill dive bar I will definitely be returning to!
Jerk chicken Philly
Dive bar indeed and we stopped in to continue visiting all the fun spots in Little Five Points. It was busy on a Friday night but we found spots at the bar where we could see the television well enough to cheer for the mixed curling between Sweden and Switzerland. Nice big tv and this would definitely be a fun spot for any local sports event. Beer was cold, service was decent and the Yacht Club (despite the fact that there isn't open water for 250 or so miles) is a fun hangout. [Review 16687 overall - 462 in Georgia - 199 of 2022.]
Love this place. Cozy feel but I've never been to a dive bar with food as spectacular as the BBQ was here. Bartender was friendly and had a fine selection of beer and liquors. If you are a fan of dive bars or BBQ I can not recommend this place more. Whenever I'm in the area this is a place I make a point to visit.
The Euclid Avenue Yacht Club is the ideal place to start your night when going to a concert at The Variety Playhouse. The food and drinks were delicious. We started with boiled peanuts (top notch) and then shared a fish sandwich (with American Cheese) and fries. Our friends had the chicken sliders. The food came out quickly. You have to order from the bar but the staff is efficient and attentive. The place is comfortable and clean. The scene is as you would expect for L5P. If you're from out of town, think biker meets hip hop with a twist of dude. We always go here when in the neighborhood and will go back.
This place rules. My girlfriend, a group of friends and I hit this up after a show while in town and holy cow! I can't wait to go back! The food was fantastic, the staff were superb and the old fashioned's were stellar.
really cool dive bar. they have a great craft beer selection. great service. love the music in here. they take cards. the food spelled amazing. good service.

About Our Rating Criteria
As a reviewer of dive bars and writer of any sort, it’s important to understand personal biases that might come through in the objective documentation of a space. And I fully acknowledge a soft spot for dive bars in land-locked cities that take on some kind of ironic nautical naming convention. Where Minneapolis’ Northeast Yacht Club leads, Euclid Avenue Yacht Club in Atlanta follows, a dive bar that borders no water and to my knowledge houses no boats.
Euclid Avenue Yacht Club sits in the Little Five Points neighborhood of Atlanta, an ultra-cool confluence of, you guessed it, five roads, creating a weirdly proportioned burst of bars, restaurants and shops. Five Points is also home to a small concentration of Atlanta dive bars, nearby Star Community Bar serving as the spiritual neighbor to Euclid Avenue Yacht Club. Outside, the green awning can’t be missed and the small neon sign above the door tours above the Little Five Points area proclaiming life’s necessities: Bar. Beer. Food.
Wood-lined dive bars are no rare occurrence, but the deep brown color of the wood here, maybe perceptually enhanced by the name of the bar, feels a little less worn and a little more comforting.
Because the area is dense with drinking and dining options, there’s a chance that Euclid Avenue Yacht Club’s relatively simple exterior could cause it to be overlooked. The low awning covers up a little bit of window real estate, obscuring the neon beer signs hung inside. The light colored brick threatens to soak in some of the charm of the space, but stepping inside unleashes a warmth best compared to some kind of fancy captain’s bridge. Wood-lined dive bars are no rare occurrence, but the deep brown color of the wood here, maybe perceptually enhanced by the name of the bar, feels a little less worn and a little more comforting.
Of course, the marlin above the booths that line one wall of the space certainly aids in the Atlanta dive bar’s nautical appeal. Underneath the fish, a selection of largely black and white photos dot the rich, patterned wall, a surface that looks like a wall you’d fine on opposite side of a really, really long table in a very fancy dining room. A mixture of vintage photos, recent shots, additional mounted fish and even an animal skull or two create a pretty diverse set of visual stimuli. Short lamps sit on each of the dive bar’s built-in booths, no small addition to the overall ambiance of the space.
Not to be outdone, the space behind the bar rivals the visual appeal of its corresponding wall, the highlight a wooden sign above the bar inscribed “Welcome Aboard.” You’ll find a wide ranging assortment of signs and vintage souvenirs among the mirrored liquor bottle display, soft lights of twisted glass hanging to provide, yes, another shot of ambiance. The short bar gives way to a kitchen framed in deep red tile in keeping with the color palette of Euclid Avenue Yacht Club.
In Atlanta tradition, a PBR sign or two can be found among the walls, but the nautical theme is alive and well in the mounted collection here.
A second room expands the space as well as the collection of fish, photos and vintage signs. Keep an eye out for the shark positioned just under a stained-glass lamp comprised of six perched birds aiming their gaze at the center fixture. In Atlanta tradition, a PBR sign or two can be found among the walls, but the nautical theme is alive and well in the mounted collection here, offering plenty to take in. A booth in front offers padded, horseshoe seating with prime view out onto the neighborhood that surrounds the dive bar, the best seating option for a group drinking occasion.
There’s a little bit of polish here, to be sure, making Euclid Avenue Yacht Club more of a warm neighborhood pub than a dusty, Prohibition-era dive bar. The presence of a weekly Bingo night is very much in keeping with the local, community vibe of the space, an exercise in dive bar nautical theming done right. In a particularly interesting part of Atlanta’s neighborhood fabric, Euclid Avenue Yacht Club provides the right mixture of warm features and mounted fish to stand out in a great way.
