The multi-award winning 72.64m/238'4" motor yacht 'Quantum of Solace' by the Turkish shipyard Turquoise Yachts offers flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests in 7 cabins and features interior styling by English designer H2 Yacht Design.

Built in 2012, Quantum of Solace is designed for exquisite indoor/outdoor living and boasts voluminous interior and exterior spaces across several decks: ideal for bronzing, lounging or entertaining. She has sensational features such as a spa, elevator, underwater lights, beach club and gym.

Guest Accommodation

Quantum of Solace offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 7 suites comprising a master suite, one VIP cabin and five twin cabins. The supremely spacious full beam master suite incorporates its own study. She is also capable of carrying up to 18 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

On your charter, you'll find plenty to keep you busy and entertained, particularly a piano, perfect for creating a relaxed atmosphere for you and your guests. Take a break from a busy itinerary in the steam room or elsewhere, kick back and relax in the well-appointed spa. Take a plunge in the pool under the sun or make your day truly exceptional at the beach club. A gym with all the latest equipment is available for a good work out plus sit back with a glass of champagne in the deck jacuzzi.

Quantum of Solace benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter, particularly an elevator, making any part of the yacht quickly and easily accessible. Satellite communication systems keep you in touch wherever you voyage or elsewhere, at night, guests can enjoy a mesmerizing light spectacle in the water thanks to underwater lights. Take advantage of the on board Wi-Fi and stay connected at all times or guests will experience complete comfort while chartering thanks to air conditioning.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 7,000 nautical miles from her 204,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Quantum of Solace features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Quantum of Solace knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Principle among these are two Zapata Flyboards for soaring over the water or swimming like a dolphin. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Also there are towable toys offering fun and adventure. If that isn't enough Quantum of Solace also features waterskis, a seabob, wakeboards and paddleboards. A wry smile from Hollywood actor Daniel Craig is all that is needed to summon the image of James Bond. But if you mention a 007-themed superyacht , it’s the name John Staluppi that springs to mind. The recognition is well-earned. The serial yacht owner’s latest 238-footer, Quantum of Solace, comes with designs that even Q would marvel at.

The Brooklyn-born businessman has owned 27 boats over the course of 30 years and has named each of his superyachts after a James Bond film. The 118-foot For Your Eyes Only , built in 1985 by Denison, marked a step change from Staluppi’s smaller fishing vessels and was the first motoryacht in the US to have a combination of MTU engines with water-jet propulsion.

But it was his second 007-inspired yacht, Octopussy, that gave Staluppi fame outside the yachting world, and made the Bond names more than a gimmick. Built in 1988, the 144-foot Heesen had an earth-shattering top end of 61 mph—a speed that every other shipyard at the time said couldn’t be done. Octopussy immediately entered the record books as the world’s fastest yacht.

“That record was important to me because when you pull into any place there’s always a bigger boat or a prettier boat, but there’s not many people who can say, ‘Hey, this is the fastest yacht in the world,” Staluppi told Robb Report.

Over time, Staluppi has fine-tuned his requirements, saving adrenaline kicks for his cars, helicopters and jets. Today, he prefers his yachts to have a top speed of about 21 knots, transatlantic capability, and plenty of interior space. That’s exactly what Quantum of Solace provides.

Built by Turquoise in 2012, Quantum of Solace is one of just four yachts in the world to have a double-height atrium in the main salon. For Staluppi, who finds the excitement and gadgetry of Bond films a fitting association for his yachts, the design feature was a big draw. “I’ve never really seen that before and I just couldn’t imagine it. So that’s why I had to see the boat,” he says.

Staluppi bought the yacht almost “sight unseen” in 2019. “They were in Colombia and I said, ‘I’ll give you a $50,000 non-refundable deposit, bring the boat to the Bahamas on the way to Europe. If I like it, I’ll take it right on the spot. If I don’t, keep my $50,000,’” he recalls.

Staluppi liked the design a lot. Beyond the aesthetics, he is a pragmatist about his yachts. He noted that Quantum ’s garage was set up with user-friendly cranes, the beach club had door openings at water level. The boat also had a 16-foot contra-flow swimming pool “that you can actually swim in” and a professional DJ station on the sun deck that doubles up as a versatile heli-deck.

It’s also the first yacht that Staluppi and his wife have spent an unprecedented eight weeks aboard. When Covid-19 hit and his preferred cruising grounds of Europe closed, they traveled from Maine to Boston, around Nantucket and Greenport, and dropped anchor off of Martha’s Vineyard.

Over the years, Staluppi has moved from building super-fast superyachts to ones emphasizing space and comfort. 

“I’m the last guy that wants to anchor out, but this boat is just so stable you don’t even know you’re anchoring. I never thought I’d be able to do that,” he says.

Years of being intrinsically involved with the design, build and sale of so many yachts has made Staluppi a sought-after consultant for both owners and shipyards. In 1998, he launched his Millennium Super Yachts fleet, in which he built yachts to order. “It’s important to have a good design from the beginning, so you don’t have to have many changes,” he says. “Of course, that’s almost impossible. Anytime you build a boat, you know you’re going to have anything from $400,000 to $2 million in changes.”

From his personal builds, 2004’s World Is Not Enough is one of his favorites. “The truth of the matter is, World Is Not Enough was the fastest yacht that we’ve ever owned; it’s just nobody ever went up to that speed,” he says. Capable of 77 mph on paper, technical issues with the boat’s steering hampered its performance.

The laid-back but luxurious Beach Club and Spa areas would work well as a setting in a Bond movie. 

Spectre , built in 2019 by Benetti, came close to being his “perfect yacht,” but the top deck felt too small for Staluppi’s liking. By the time he realized that was the case, the build was too far along. Now, the serial yacht owner is focusing on his next project, which promises to have a multitude of Bond gadgets.

“I always say this is the last boat I’m building and then I’m building a new boat again,” Staluppi says. “Sometimes I get the urge to build a fast yacht again, but you give up a lot of luxury, and now I’m more into having a nice bottle of wine and a meal on board. If I want to go fast, I have a 92-foot Pershing for that.”

The sense of space throughout Quantum of Solace ‘s interior was a key feature for Staluppi, who bought the yacht virtually sight unseen. 

Staluppi has listed Quantum of Solace for $58 million with Yachting Partners International to make space for the new unbuilt yacht. The Turquoise-built yacht is actually the second with the same name. Staluppi made the decision name it Quantum of Solace , after the then-latest Bond movie, No Time To Die, was released. “I didn’t want to have a boat named that,” he says.

Speaking of which, does knowing that his yachts will always have to be connected to a 007 movie title ever bother Staluppi? “No,” he says. “I kind of enjoy it.”

Specifications

The Quantum of Solace Yacht measures a total of 72,6 meters (238,2 ft) in length. Her beam is 12,23 meters (40,1 ft) and her draft is 4 meters (13,1 ft). She reaches a top speed of 17 knots, and a cruise speed of 15 knots.

She can accommodate up to 14 guests and 19 crew, and when she was first built, she was considered to be the largest build to come out of Turkey.

H2 Yacht Designs is behind the exterior design of the Quantum of Solace yacht as well as its interior. She has an impressive sundeck with a pool, as well as a helipad.

The balconies on either side of the owner’s private rooms make her stand out, especially in combination with the double-height atrium, which is not often seen in other vessels.

The Quantum of Solace yacht also offers several water toys and other tenders to keep guests entertained.

Among these are 6-meter waterslides, as well as two WaaveRunners. Guests can also go snorkeling if they want to.

Quantum of Solace is one of the defining projects of Turquoise Yachts, and is still inspiring new designs at the yard after her launch in 2012. Working with H2 Yacht Design, Turquoise Yachts created this 72.64 metre yacht with strong graphic lines, flowing curves and an interior - also by H2 - which creates a clean and modern atmosphere when on board.

Built with steel hull and aluminium superstructure, her beam stretches across 12.23 metres to provide an open layout which introduces design elements such as her unique double-height atrium in the main salon.

Other such elements include the spa, which is positioned next to a sea platform which extends 90 degrees over the water to bring owners closer to the ocean. Here, those on board can make the most of a steamroom, shower, spa pool, treatment room and a spacious area for yoga.

These open spaces feature a relaxed, comfortable yet modern approach to interior styling, with a mixture of light woods and fabrics with contemporary furniture moving through the various characters of the yacht’s individual areas.

Quantum of Solace offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 cabins; consisting of a full-beam Owner’s suite on the bridge deck, as well as five guest cabins on the main deck.

Naval Architecture by Hydro Tec S.r.L. ensure complete comfort when in any area of the yacht, and the advanced construction techniques of Turkish builder Turquoise, means noise and vibration are kept to a complete minimum.

Captain Ed is a keen competitive sailor who has worked on superyachts for the past 16 years. Quantum of Solace is one of the newest yachts out there. From memorable formal dining experiences and making the most of the spa, to jumping in and out of the ocean from the beach club or spending a few hours working in the master suite with the best office view in the world. She is a very versatile boat - the large deck spaces can be used for relaxing on the sun loungers or by the pool or for entertainment.

How would you describe the overall atmosphere on board?

Fun, new, and full of life. Because the crew are so experienced, they know exactly what to do to make sure our guests have the trip of a lifetime. As an international group of professionals, each crew member brings a positive can-do attitude to every day on board. They understand the importance of privacy and are on-call 24/7. They’re also true yachties at heart and love to show guests the special features of the yacht.

What are some of the most special guest experiences you have provided?

Each and every day we go above and beyond to make sure our guests have the most memorable time on board. One of my favourite moments in my career as a captain is allowing the guests to wakeboard behind the yacht for an absolutely unforgettable experience. We regularly organise special events and moments for guests, like last-minute musical entertainment or candle-lit dinners on secluded beaches.

What are some of the crew’s favourite destinations and off-the-beaten-track spots?

Our crew is extremely well-travelled, so we’ve got a few favourites! The Bahamas is really up there. It offers a tranquil and laid-back atmosphere like no place else, with beautiful ever-changing colours at sunrise and sunset. The Leeward Islands is another of our Caribbean favourites.

Heading over to the Mediterranean, Croatia is a unique spot due to its private bays and rich cultural history. The Amalfi coast is certainly not off-the-beaten-track, but it’s a hot spot for a reason. The coastline is unbeatable - so is the food! Bonifacio in Corsica is also one of my favourites spots by boat. The impressive reverse onto the dock is quite something! As well as this there are some amazing caves to explore by tender - made even better with the tenders we have on board!

What makes the yacht’s tenders so impressive?

The main tender on board is an Iguana amphibious tender. It feels like something that has just been handed down to you from ‘Q’ in James Bond - it’s very cool, very comfortable and very fast. Guests can reach land while staying dry on the water, and then the tender can drive up on to the beach and offload them onto dry sand.

How are the boat and the crew prepared to accommodate children and teenagers?

Quantum of Solace often caters to families looking for the perfect charter. We’ve got a convertible twin cabin for children, a young, energetic crew that can do fun activities in the water and on board if guests wish, and a whole host of water toys including jet skis, inflatables, sea-bobs and fishing equipment.

Where do guests tend to gather on board and what facilities are most used?

The upper deck aft is a fantastic and spacious area, and most guests choose to dine here morning and night. The main deck and the beach club are also great for making the most of the sun and the sea or just relaxing with a cocktail.

What are some of the main issues clients can experience when chartering a superyacht and how does Quantum of Solace’s crew prevent these issues from occurring?

With proper, detailed planning, the vast majority of negative issues that some charter guests may have experienced elsewhere can be easily prevented. Although we cannot make the sun shine every day, through our experience and extensive training we can assure safety at all times. Experienced captains and crew like ours also know all the tricks to search out the perfect location - so even if that sun isn’t shining, we’ll make sure the day is still spectacular.

73m Turquoise motor yacht Quantum of Solace sold

The 72.6 metre Turquoise motor yacht Quantum Of Solace , listed for sale with Peter Thompson at Ahoy Club , has been sold with FGI Yacht Group's Vice President Frank Grzeszczak Jr representing the buyer.

Launched in May 2012 by Turquoise Yachts Quantum Of Solace was the largest branded Turkish yacht afloat at the time. Construction started in 2009 in Tuzla, near Istanbul, when she was initially known as hull number NB54 and sistership of the 70.54 metre  Talisman C .

She was later sold to a new owner who commissioned H2 Yacht Design to restyle the superstructure. As a result, her initial sharp lines became smoother. The completed steel and aluminium hull arrived at the Proteksan-Turquoise (as it then was) yard in April 2011 for final outfitting. She won three Neptunes at the ShowBoats Design Awards and World Superyacht Awards in 2013 and was extensively refitted in 2020.

The interior, also by H2 Yacht Design, accommodates 12 guests in six cabins, all on the main deck. The main saloon features a double-height atrium. Elsewhere, a full-beam (12 metres) master suite sits amidships on the bridge deck with two balconies on either side, while the remaining cabins on the main deck accommodate a further 10 guests.

Other notable features include an elevator for four people from the lower spa deck to the bridge deck; a helicopter pad landing on the foredeck for an EC 135 standard or similar; a sundeck with a swimming pool forward and lounging and dining; and a spa area full beam below deck with a starboard side shell door opening to water level.

Quantum Of Solace  is Lloyd’s classed and MCA compliant. She is powered by twin 2,447hp Caterpillar engines giving a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, thanks to a notable fuel capacity of 204,000 litres.

Quantum Of Solace was asking €56,400,000.

On-Board the Quantum of Solace Yacht for Charter

The main deck opens to the main salon with a long bar and lounge. Dramatic double-height atrium opens to the bridge deck. Drop down TV. Further forward is the formal dining area seating 12, Steinway grand piano (self-playing), aquarium, galley, day head and hallway leading to 6 guest cabins.

The master suite is located on the bridge deck with a private office, private terraces, his & her’s dressing rooms and an impressive en suite in striking white and blue tones with heated floors. See accommodation page for additional details.

The bridge deck is also home to the sky lounge, overlooking the main salon, with a library and cinema. There is a large comfortable leather reclining couch and black out blinds.
