Jeff Bezos' new megayacht set sail this summer, with the founder and former Amazon CEO and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez crisscrossing Europe to show it off.

At 417 feet long, the vessel is the world's largest sailing yacht and cost an estimated $500 million. The yacht is named Koru , which means "loop" or "coil" in the Māori language and often signifies new beginnings.

Koru joins a large class of flashy billionaires' yachts , including the 305-foot-long Eos, which belongs to billionaire Barry Diller and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison owns a yacht called Musashi, which is 288 feet long.

Bezos commissioned the enormous boat from the Dutch custom yacht builder Oceanco, and it took years to construct.

In February, the yacht underwent its first sea trials, a series of tests usually conducted in the last phases of construction. Koru made its maiden voyage in April, traveling from the Netherlands to Gibraltar.

The vessel has a pool on deck, and the prow features a mermaid sculpture that bears a striking resemblance to Bezos' then-girlfriend Sanchez. A second "support yacht," which has an on-deck helipad, accompanies Koru on its travels.

Sanchez has said the sculpture affixed to Bezos' yacht isn't her. "I'm very flattered, but it's not," she told Vogue. The sculpture is apparently of the Norse goddess Freyja, one of Bezos' favorite figures from mythology.

Bezos and Sanchez were first seen aboard the yacht along the coast of Spain in May, shortly before news broke that the couple had gotten engaged. The couple spent the rest of the summer on board traveling to various destinations, stopping at the Cannes Film Festival, sailing down the Italian Riviera, and making their way to Croatia.

In August, the yacht played host to an engagement party for Bezos and Sanchez , which reportedly drew guests including Bill Gates, Whitney Wolfe Herd, Ari Emanuel, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

While yacht season was apparently enjoyable for the couple, it was only after the vessel stirred up quite a bit of controversy: Koru's masts were so tall that the yacht nearly required the dismantling of a historic bridge in the Netherlands in order for it to pass through.

Locals planned to egg Bezos' superyacht if the bridge came down. Following the public outcry, Oceanco withdrew its request for the city to take apart the bridge.

And despite this massive purchase, Bezos' net worth is still well over $100 billion.

Lauren and Jeff started dating in late 2018, and they've been inseparable since ... traveling around the world together.

Exactly a month after the $500 million Koru megayacht was delivered to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the stunning luxury vessel was spotted for the very first time with its sails unfurled – it’s a sight to behold. The record-breaking megayacht left for her maiden voyage to Gibraltar on April 6 and is currently undergoing sailing sea trials off the coast of Palma de Mallorca, as confirmed by its AIS data. Reportedly, Koru has been joined by its shadow vessel named Abeona . Built by Damen Yachting, the 75-meter superyacht has been designed to function as a support vessel for Koru. Named after the Roman goddess of voyages and departures, the vessel will carry all the toys and tenders that aren’t carried on board the mothership along with accommodating the additional crew. It also features a helipad and hangar for a D14-type helicopter.

Previously known as Y721, Koru was commissioned by Bezos in 2018 after he fell in love with Oceanco’s Black Pearl. Measuring 127 meters in length, it’s the world’s second-largest sailing yacht, with Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko’s Sailing Yacht A currently holding the record. Nevertheless, Bezos’ majestic sailing yacht is the largest vessel built in the Netherlands.

Has the World Finally Had a Glimpse of Jeff Bezos’s $500 Million Mega-Yacht?

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is appears to be getting closer to welcoming the superyacht he reportedly commissioned in 2018: a fancy toy fitting for the world’s second-richest person, given that it costs a reported $500 million and breaks one world record after another.

Called Y721, this vessel of all vessels is being custom designed by Dutch builder Oceanco and was spotted at a shipyard last week in Zwijndrecht, a town in the western Netherlands. It’s reportedly heading to another Netherlands town, Alblasserdam, for a final fitting. With a length of 417 feet, Y721 is the biggest sailing yacht in the world and the longest vessel to be built in the Netherlands. Features include a black hull, classic shape, three large decks, and three masts.

Superyacht Bravo Eugenia , belonging to the U.S. billionaire Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was built by Oceanco, which is also rumored to be behind Bezos’s new massive vessel.

Y721 is going to totally change the world of yachting with its design and innovation, says Fernando Nicholson, a luxury yacht sales broker with the yachting company Camper & Nicholsons. “It’s a boat with the latest technology and bells and whistles that have never been seen,” he says. “This will be the standard for all superyachts to follow, but in years to come, when its features become more affordable. Right now, only someone with Bezos’s wealth can swing the cost.”

The superyacht is said to be modeled after Oceanco’s famous yacht, the Black Pearl , which the company site says , “is one of the largest and most ecological sailing yachts in the world. She can cross the Atlantic without burning even a liter of fossil fuel.” Y721 will go through sea trails following its fitting-out in Alblasserdam and is expected to be ready sometime next year.

However, it’s only one of two new boats for Bezos: He has also commissioned a shadow vessel called YS 7512 from builder Damen Yachts. This support ship measures 246 feet in length and accommodates 45 additional crew and guests. It will also feature a helipad and meeting space and have a vast amount of storage for Bezos’s endless number of water toys, with diving and snorkeling gear, jet and water skis, waterslides, and surfboards among the bunch. Shadow vessels are a growing phenomenon in the superyacht industry and one more extra toy that their owners want to have at the ready, says Nicholson. “You see them more and more now as an add-on to a superyacht purchase,” he says. “They’ve almost become a must.”

There’s no doubt that Bezos will be sailing the high seas in full panache and style come 2022. But really, is there any other way when you have more money than almost anyone else in the world and attract an endless amount of attention too?

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos  was the perfect Instagram boyfriend on Monday as he snapped photos of his bikini-clad fiancée,  Lauren Sanchez , on the deck of his new $500 million superyacht in Portofino, Italy . 

Earlier in the day, the newly engaged couple arrived in style as they landed by helicopter on the Koru's $75 million support vessel, which has been kitted out with a helipad. 

Sanchez, 53, was dressed to impress in a figure-hugging black racerback dress featuring a thigh-high slit on each leg. She topped off her Italian vacation look with a pair of black platform wedge sandals and what looked to be a red Hermès Kelly bag. 

The starting cost of a Kelly is around $10,000, but the highly-coveted handbags can sell for $100,000 or more depending on the style.

Meanwhile, Bezos, 59, was dressed casually in a dark T-shirt and jeans. 

After landing on the helipad on the support vessel, they boarded a waiting speedboat that took them to the yacht.  

The lovebirds were seen hugging on board before sitting down to an intimate family lunch on the ship's deck, which was covered to shield them from the blazing afternoon sun. 

Sanchez's two youngest children appeared to be with them.  

The Black Ops Aviation founder has a teenage son, Evan Whitesell, 17, and a daughter, Eleanor Whitesell, 15, with her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell. 

She also shares a 22-year-old son, Nikko Gonzales, with her former NFL star ex Tony Gonzales. 

When Sanchez and Bezos tie the knot, she will become a stepmother to his four children, whom he co-parents with his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott. 

Their oldest son , Preston Bezos, was born in 2000, but little is known about the rest of his three children, including their names and ages. 

The couple was later seen having an impromptu photo shoot on the yacht's deck.

At one point, she struck a pose on the boat's railing while Bezos played Instagram boyfriend and snapped her picture. 

Bezos had changed into swim trunks, but he kept on his T-shirt.  

It's unclear when exactly the couple first got together, but their affair was exposed by the National Enquirer in January 2019. 

Soon after, the entrepreneur and investor split from Scott, his wife of over 25 years. Following their divorce, Scott became one of the richest women in the world, with a four percent stake in Amazon. 

Sanchez was married to Whitesell when her relationship with Bezos was outed. Her then-husband was reportedly the one who introduced her to Bezos in the first place. 

Whitesell, a powerful man in his own right, is the executive chairman of Endeavor, the parent company of talent agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME). 

Bezos and Scott finalized their divorce in April 2019 — the same month that Sanchez and Whitesell ended their marriage.

The couple made their first public appearance together in May 2019, before jetting off to St. Barts for the holidays.

As the third richest man in the world, Bezos is no stranger to taking his ladylove on lavish vacations, but this will likely be a summer for the books.

The Amazon boss popped the question to the Emmy Award-winning journalist on board his new superyacht last month, sources told DailyMail.com.

The couple was seen kissing and canoodling on board the Koru while Sanchez was wearing a massive gemstone on her ring finger — sparkling proof that she said, 'Yes.'

At the time, they were off the coast of Cannes, where they were enjoying a Mediterranean odyssey and the inaugural voyage of Bezos's superyacht. 

At 417 feet long and 230 feet tall, the Koru is one of the world's largest sailing yachts complete with a 250 foot support vessel that boasts its own helipad.

The pair flew into Europe by private jet and were first seen on the deck of the floating mansion on May 18. 

Their trip on the yacht, which is named the Koru after the Maori word for 'new beginnings,' comes more than five years after it was commissioned.

Known then as 'Project 721,' the ship was built in the historic port of Zwijndrecht, close to Rotterdam in the Netherlands, by sailboat specialists Oceanco.

Previous designs include the 350-foot Black Pearl, an all-black aluminum sailing yacht designed for Russian billionaire Oleg Burlakov, who died of Covid in 2021 and whose family still own the ship.

The Koru is the second largest sailing ship in the world, surpassed only by the Philippe Starcke-designed Sailing Yacht A, which is owned by Russian fertilizer billionaire Andrey Melnichenko.

Bezos may be paying homage to Sanchez with the megayacht, which features a wooden sculpture of a Roman goddess carved into the ship's bow that looks strikingly similar to his bride-to-be.

It is unclear when the gold-burnished sculpture became part of the vessel's design, but it was commissioned in 2018, a year before their affair was exposed. 

The yacht was finally handed over to Bezos in April after undergoing sea trials in February. 

Last year, before the Koru had even been launched, the vast size of her masts sparked an international controversy when Rotterdam announced that the middle section of the 100-year-old Koningshaven Bridge would be removed so the superyacht could make its way into the North Sea.

According to reports, Bezos had said he would pay to have the bridge dismantled and rebuilt again, but his request was refused. 

Locals created a petition to pelt the boat with rotten eggs on its maiden voyage,  which garnered thousands of signatures.

In response to the backlash, Rotterdam's Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb said no permit had been applied for, and the masts were eventually attached downstream in Rotterdam harbor.

The three-masted schooner yacht was finally delivered at the end of April and sailed from the Netherlands to Mallorca via Gibraltar.

Along with a private submarine, Koru sails with a smaller 250-foot support vessel that has been kitted out with a helipad and is stocked with a collection of speedboats and supercars for Bezos and Sanchez to enjoy.

The main ship, which is painted midnight blue and has gold accents, boasts three decks, a pool, and a huge sun terrace.

The interior is reportedly inspired by Eos, a 305-foot yacht owned by former Fox CEO Barry Diller that costs $25 million a year to maintain.

Jeff Bezos’ Giant Yacht Is Apparently Too Big to Anchor Near Others in Florida

The superyacht, called Koru, arrived in Port Everglades in Florida on Nov. 22, and has been docked near a more-than 610-foot-long oil tanker named Magnolia State.

First, Jeff Bezos’ new megayacht was too big to pass under a bridge in the Netherlands. Now, the massive vessel’s size — it’s more than 400 feet long — has played a role in preventing it from keeping company with other private yachts in Port Everglades, Fla., where it is anchored.

Instead, the megayacht, named Koru, is hanging with huge oil tankers and general container ships. The yacht is docked there because of its size and also because of what berths were available in the seaport, according to a spokeswoman for Port Everglades.

Koru is a sailing yacht, unlike the much bigger diesel-powered boats popular with other billionaires. It is the largest sailing yacht in the world, according to Oceanco , the Dutch company that finished building the boat earlier this year.

The deck space of the three-masted schooner has three Jacuzzis and a swimming pool. The inside has a “timeless, contemporary style,” according to Oceanco, with natural wood tones, warm neutrals, and patterned textiles. It also includes a mermaid on the bow that appears to resemble Mr. Bezos’ partner, Lauren Sánchez.

Koru, which Bloomberg estimated cost about $500 million to build, arrived to the Florida port on Nov. 22 after departing from Gibraltar earlier this month, according to Marine Traffic , a real-time maritime data platform.

It was unclear why exactly Mr. Bezos docked his yacht there, but earlier this month he said that he would be moving back to Miami to be closer to his parents and to Ms. Sánchez.

Mr. Bezos had since 1994 lived in Seattle , where he started Amazon from his garage. He has already purchased two mansions in South Florida, one for $68 million and another for $79 million, according to Bloomberg News .

Bloomberg estimated his net worth to be $171 billion.

Port Everglades charges yachts larger than 400 feet at least $309.50 per 24 hours. Ships that have been closest to Koru include a more-than 610-foot-long oil tanker named Magnolia State .

Koru is Maori for “coil” or “loop” and has come to symbolize new life, growth, and peace in traditional Maori art.

Mr. Bezos’ journey with his new yacht started off rocky . Last year, city officials in Rotterdam, the Dutch city, initially agreed to dismantle De Hef, a 95-year-old bridge, so that Koru could pass through it from the nearby city where it had been built. The dismantling process would have taken more than a day, and putting it back together would have too. But after uproar from the community — including calls to throw eggs at the boat as it would have passed — Oceanco decided against it and the yacht was towed to a different location to have its masts attached.

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were among the guests at Jeff Bezos ' dinner party on Tuesday, PEOPLE confirms.

The SKIMS mogul, 41, and the Saturday Night Live star, 28, rode together in Kardashian's car and stayed at the billionaire's estate for hours before being spotted arriving at Davidson's Beverly Hills hotel, TMZ reports.

Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble were also spotted arriving at Bezos' home for the party, which the Amazon co-founder, 58, hosted with partner Lauren Sanchez .

Kardashian's dinner with Bezos comes after the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum had a coffee date with Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton at the Hot & Cool Cafe in Canoga Park on Monday.

PEOPLE confirmed earlier this week that the meeting was tied to Hillary and Chelsea's upcoming Apple TV+ series. According to Deadline , the show is titled Gutsy Women and inspired by their bestselling novel The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience. The docuseries will feature a diverse cast of trailblazing women.

Dinner at Bezos' home is the latest of a string of outings for Kardashian and Davidson.

Earlier this month, the couple was spotted holding hands after grabbing a pizza at Jon & Vinny's in Los Angeles. They also picked up ice cream from a nearby drugstore to complete the casual night out. Kardashian wore tight leather pants and a sweatshirt for the occasion, while Davidson was dressed in a T-shirt and hoodie.

The pair first sparked romance rumors last October, when they were seen holding hands while riding a roller coaster at Knott's Scary Farm in Buena Park, California.

A source told PEOPLE in December that Kardashian and Davidson are "both really cuddly and affectionate with each other," adding, "Kim is so into him."

An insider also told PEOPLE that Davidson entering Kardashian's life has been a refreshing welcome after her split from Kanye West , with whom she shares four kids: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.

"He's exactly what Kim needed after her divorce — someone to make her laugh and just have a fun time with," said the insider. "The end of her marriage was a very dark time for her and Pete has been the best antidote."

Jeff Bezos to dismantle historic Dutch bridge for $450 million yacht

Jeff Bezos will pay for Rotterdam to partially dismantle a nearly 145-year-old bridge so he can sail his $485 million super yacht out after finishing construction on the vessel. 

The Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam near Rotterdam has nearly completed the construction of Y721 , the former Amazon CEO’s yacht, but the vessel is too big to sail out with the bridge as it is. The builders asked the local council to remove the bridge’s central section so the yacht can pass.

"It's the only route to the sea," a spokesman for the mayor of Rotterdam told AFP , adding that billionaire Bezos, 57, would pay for the operation. The super yacht, which will be the largest boat built in Oceanco and one of the largest ever built, requires a 130-foot clearance, at least, to pass through.

The Koningshaven Bridge, known to locals as De Hef, dates from 1878 but was rebuilt after the Nazis bombed it in 1940 during World War II. The local council replaced the original swing bridge design after several traffic jams and collisions, changing it to a lifting bridge. 

The local council completed a major repair on the bridge in 2017 and promised not to dismantle the bridge again.

The shipbuilders dismissed suggestions that they sail a partially-finished vessel down the river and finish it elsewhere. Marcel Walravens, who managed the renovation, said it would prove impractical. 

"If you carry out a big job somewhere, you want all your tools in that place," Walravens told Rijnmond . "Otherwise you have to go back and forth constantly."

Walravens noted that the municipality considers the project "very important." 

"Rotterdam has also been declared the maritime capital of Europe," he explained. "Shipbuilding and activity within that sector are therefore an important pillar for the municipality."

Kris Jenner set sail in style Monday, posing aboard a super-yacht in a sheer mesh maxi dress ($118) from daughter Kim Kardashian’s Skims collection.

“Yep I’m wearing @skims @kimkardashian,” Jenner, 66, captioned the Instagram photo .

The mother of six’s eye-catching style features long sleeves and a colorful “obsidian print” that, according to the brand , “is named for molten glass and inspired by the iconography of video games.”

While the dress is modeled with nothing underneath on Skims’ website, Jenner paired hers with a slip for a little more coverage.

While her exact printed dress is currently sold out, the style’s still available in black for $84 .

Kardashian was impressed with her momager’s ensemble, commenting, “Looking 💣💣💣💣💣” and reposting the shot to her Instagram Stories.

Jenner’s gal pals Faye Resnick and Kathy Hilton dropped fire emojis, while one fan asked, “Kylie Jenner who?” — referencing Jenner’s stylish youngest daughter. (“She created kylie jenner 😂.,” another joked.)

“The Kardashians” star is currently vacationing in Saint-Tropez, and showed off the enviable water views from her boat’s deck on her Instagram Stories.

Jenner vacationed in Italy with longtime beau Corey Gamble, 41, earlier in July. Some Kardashian sleuths even believed the couple secretly wed after the momager shared photos wearing a glamorous white Dolce & Gabbana dress with an elaborate ruffled overcoat, but it appears she was simply attending the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda 2022 show in summery style.

The Kardashians are big Dolce & Gabbana fans, despite the designers’ controversial past . The fashion house even hosted Kourtney Kardashian’s over-the-top wedding to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in Portofino in May.

Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble certainly know how to enjoy life in the lap of luxury.

The 67-year-old momager and her 42-year-old beau looked to be having a wonderful time aboard a yacht off the coast of Portofino, Italy on Thursday after being seen shopping at Dolce & Gabbana .

Kris was fashionable in a black and red patterned kaftan while enjoying a beverage on the deck of the luxury cruiser.

She added even more fashionable flare in the form of a black large wide-brimmed fedora along with matching designer sunglasses.

Her signature pixie cut was tucked under the stylish headwear as she wore natural, complementary make-up.

Kris also donned dangling gold hoop earrings as she relaxed on the ship. 

Corey kept it simple in a bright yellow bucket hat with T-Shirt and black board shorts.

At one point it seemed like the hunk was trying to get the energy up as he playfully raised his arms while standing on the deck.

Portofino is a fishing village on the Italian Riviera coastline, southeast of Genoa city. 

Kris and Corey have been together ever since 2014. 

The long-term couple initially jetted off to Italy to celebrate the engagement of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez . 

After partying with the lovebirds in a yacht off the Amalfi coast, the Kris Jenner... and All Things Kardashian author and her boyfriend continued their trip alone together with a romantic dinner in Portofino. 

The Kylie Cosmetics co-founder looked eager to enjoy her dreamy vacation with her beau as they arrived at the luxurious Dolce & Gabbana retreat. 

While the glamorous, globe-trotting pair have yet to share snaps of their villa retreat, Corey did declare his love for his girlfriend of more than a decade via a birthday post last November on his Instagram.

Kris's Atlanta-born boyfriend has appeared on multiple episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Kardashians ever since the pair started dating. 

While the couple have frequently sparked engagement rumors (Kris even posted a pic in Portofino on her Instagram  back in May 2022 with a large gold band on her finger) the talent manager has never actually confirmed whether or not she tied the knot with Corey. 

Justin Bieber's reportedly former tour manager is 25-years younger than his reality television star beau, having celebrated his 42nd birthday last November.
