Project Sparta: The Megayacht Of The Future
The private yacht that offers everything.
The perfect marriage of bespoke luxury and ultra-efficient machinery, Project Sparta is the megayacht of the future. At 67-meters in length, her clever design asks for no compromises in either comfort or utility. Once finished, she will be the largest steel displacement motor yacht Heesen has ever built. The Dutch shipyard has announced that the construction of the superyacht began in Oct 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2023.
Constantly pushing the boundaries of yacht crafting, Heesen has collaborated with Arcon Yachts of Monaco and Winch Designs to bring the floating masterpiece to life. Arcon Yachts serves as the Owner’s technical advisors and project managers of the full-custom yacht’s construction. Andrew Winch’s interior and exterior design ingenuity has maximized every inch of the vessel’s space while still maintaining an elevated look. Project Sparta features Winch’s signature sleek lines and ultra-modern yet classic touches.
More than just her looks, Project Sparta utilizes Perry van Oossanen’s patented fast displacement hull form (FDHF) to guarantee a hyper-efficient yet smooth and comfortable journey. She has an internal volume of approximately 1,200 gross tons, and her elegant engine room houses two MTU 12V4000 M65R diesel engines. The mega-yacht will reach a top speed of 16 knots and cut through the seas with a transatlantic cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her crew will operate her from a raised pilothouse, lending itself to a more streamlined and sporty profile.
THE PRIVATE YACHT THAT OFFERS EVERYTHING
Project Sparta comfortably hosts 12 guests, two staff members, and 14 crew members. The bridge deck is reserved for the Owner and is composed of two suites and a private outdoor lounge. The main deck houses four guest suites. Winch Designs has shown off his utilitarian side by incorporating a sliding partition that seamlessly transforms two of the front-facing suites into a full beam VIP suite–a feature unusual for a vessel of its size. There is no wasted space and no compromises in comfort found on this go-anywhere-sized vessel. Winch Designs has rightfully deemed Project Sparta a “pocket mega-yacht.”
The stepped aft deck houses a 6.5-meter Infinity pool, and the top sundeck features a bar and jacuzzi. An offset spiral staircase wraps around a glass elevator that connects all three decks. The lower deck is home to crew quarters and a wellness sanctuary that includes an oval jacuzzi, sauna, gym, and steam room.
PROJECT SPARTA EMBARKS ON THE ULTIMATE MAIDEN VOYAGE
Project Sparta’s maneuverability means nearly unlimited opportunities to discover the world’s most exotic and far-flung destinations. Her 2023 maiden voyage will include stops at shipyards in the following most desirable destinations:
1.) THE MEDITERRANEAN
The Mediterranean’s gorgeous coastlines will perfectly complement the yacht’s sleek and super sporty profile. Optimal mooring opportunities abound in this premier yachting destination, with possible dockings along the Amalfi Coast or perhaps a long tour through Northern Sardinia for breathtaking views and some of the best cuisine Italy has to offer.
2.) FJORDS OF NORWAY AND THE LOFOTEN ISLES
Project Sparta was destined to navigate Norway’s vast network of waterways. Her compact size and hyper-efficient machinery will allow her to move deftly through the deep fjords, letting her get up close and personal with its magnificent glaciers. The landscape drenched with untamed mountains and wildlife will offer an abundance of activities for the owner, including fishing, mountaineering, kayaking, and canyoning.
3.) THE CARIBBEAN AND BAHAMAS
During the winter months, Project Sparta and her Owner will warm themselves along the sun-soaked coastlines of the Caribbean. Here, there will be plenty of opportunities to sunbathe on the yacht’s spacious decks, snorkel in the crystalline waters, and take in the warm breeze while entertaining friends and family at the top deck bar. Project Sparta will have no trouble maneuvering between the more than 700 islands the Bahamas has to offer–each with its distinct personality and offerings.
4.) AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
The Land Down Under’s vast coastline includes opportunities to explore the rugged island of Tasmania, visit the idyllic Whitsunday archipelago, and of course, scuba diving at the iconic Great Barrier Reef. New Zealand is almost ubiquitous with natural beauty, and no voyage would be complete without a visit to the idyllic paradise. Its rolling green highlands, spectacular waterfalls, and majestic glaciers will provide an abundance of outdoor activities for Project Sparta and her owner.
THE MEGAYACHT CHARTER OF THE FUTURE
Project Sparta is destined to influence the future design of mega-yacht charters. Its devotion to ultra-luxury design serves as the perfect template for the ultimate mega-yacht: a spacious and comfortable interior yet compact enough to navigate smaller passageways around the world. Those looking to charter yachts will want the option of being able to go anywhere without compromise.

- A 72-meter super yacht Project 2024 by Feadship
Project 2024
Feadship projects, feadship yacht building, feadship yacht design, super yacht concept, mega yacht concept, yacht design, jan-bart verkuyl, innovative yacht projects, latest yacht designs, technological yachts, mega yacht projects, yacht helipad, super yacht interior design, yacht hut tub, yacht beach club.
Project 2024, a 72.6-meter mega yacht built by Feadship, has been announced
Feadship , a Dutch yacht building company, has collaborated with Nauta Design to offer Project 2024 , a 72m high speed luxury yacht prototype. Project 2024, which was unveiled at an online media briefing, was designed in collaboration with Nauta and highlights marine architecture by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects . The idea was developed in response to a number of customer demands, according to the builder, and is tailored to clients who "have no expertise nor concern in the complicated technological aspects of a new construction."
Project 2024, on the other hand, provides a "incredible number of customised high product options." Many of the key technological components have already been developed, including the necessary engineering and marine design. Costumers would be able to save time on distribution and be free to "build their own personalized Feadship" as a result of this. As a consequence, the mega yacht will be delivered in time for the summer of 2024.
Project 2024 was influenced by plenty of innovative superyacht designs proposed by designers around the industry, according to chief product strategist Farouk Nefzi . “We've seen a lot of stunning futuristic concepts with cutting-edge technologies and fantastical dreams. But the primary issue is what is truly feasible now, and what kind of creativity can be implemented now.” The proposal has been "focused out to the greatest degree of precision," according to Feadship, and is "remarkably separate from just about any luxury yacht prototype model available today."
It was born out of a collaboration between Nauta and the builder on some other Feadship luxury yacht task and according to the company: “Their pleasant friendship encouraged them to imagine how their joint perfect Feadship could look for potential customers wanting to know about how to skip the early technological period of a new build implementation.” Nauta and Feadship spent a few months designing and developing a "unique concept that would incorporate all of their common experience" with Feadship De Voogt Naval Designers.
The 72m Project 2024 is the outcome, a completely Tier III compatible mega yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum upper body. Feadship ’s ceo Jan-Bart Verkuyl stated that the engineering team sought to integrate a variety of market-leading design developments into the concept. Resilience, future creativity and innovation and modern features are just a few of them. “We wanted to have a place where customers could invest extra time with family and friends,” the company says. The outcome is a 70-meter private yacht that incorporates all current construction trends. We know how important it is for people to be allowed to navigate from their yacht, so we have a tickle helipad on the stern, as well as plenty of windows and connections across the outside and inside.”
The main exterior elements contain wide screens, smaller size and "elegant" bulwarks, with a sea view and an inland and outside connection. The 564 square meter of cabin space can be fully customized to the customer's preferences and desires, with 12 guests sleeping in a wide master cabin, VIP cabin, and 8 extra rooms that can be configured as doubles or twins. The master cabin, which is located forward of the main deck, is defined as a "sanctuary of individual privacy and leisure," with pieces of clothing and coated surfaces that produce a "aura of clarity." The suite has his and hers standing cupboards, a lounge, and a personal balcony that results in higher deck's rooftop lobby and outdoor dining hall. A reach helipad has been designated instead of the upper deck, although this may be converted into extra seating if the buyer so wishes.
The above-mentioned sun deck is separated into three main areas. The forward area has a Hot tub that is arranged for tanning, while the center area has a seating area for 12 people that is protected by translucent windbreaker boards. Aft is a bar location. A huge food lift spans both floors, and an escalator will carry visitors around the yacht. Over on the ground floor, the aft section flows into the main saloon, which is separated into a bar and dining area with massive screens and panoramic views of the sea. There's also the luxury of adding flip terraces to the lounge, stretching it over the lake.
The beach club , which is located aft of the bottom section, is a highlight feature. The pool bar is extended by an additional 80 percent thanks to large square side wings. There is also a 3.3-meter pool and plenty of seating in the field. The rooftop bar has tight ties to the deck behind with curving steps – a layout element that allow families to take care on kids playing on the beach club. Verkuyl commented on the beach club idea, saying, "Lots of beach clubs are being built within boats, but we're really watching beach clubs expand and becoming more." It's an attractive room that connects you to the water surrounding you - a spot where you'd like to spend time with loved ones.” Project 2024 has room for 18 team members, along with a designated captain's quarters and eight extra rooms on the bottom section.

Meet Project Sonata, a Rule-Breaking 351-Foot Sailing Yacht That Cruises Like a Luxury Liner
If ever built, sonata would be a first for sailing superyachts. it would have high-tech sails, but would ride more like a motoryacht., julia zaltzman, julia zaltzman's most recent stories.

What do you call a superyacht concept that takes the progressive learnings from the world’s leading new builds and packs them together in one visionary design? You call it Project Sonata. With three DynaRig systems inspired by the legendary sailing yacht Black Pearl , an inverted bow to slice through waves and enough space on board to compete with a motoryacht, could the 351-foot hybrid sailing yacht have it all?

Project Sonata is the work of emerging Swiss studio Valentin Design. Headed up by industrial designer Valentin Weigand, winner of Young Designer of the Year 2020, and naval architect Romain Acquaviva, the duo have their eyes set on a more sustainable, smarter, and buildable yacht.
“Our aim is to create a sailing superyacht that is more accessible to clients than the ones currently in the water,” Weigand told Robb Report . “Many clients are scared off by how complicated they perceive sailing yachts to be, requiring large numbers of crew and complicated rigs. We want to offer something that combines the joy of sailing with the ease and comfort of a motoryacht.”

Sustainability is also key to the concept. Two diesel electric engines generate recuperative energy through the yacht’s propellers while sailing, supplying enough power for the hotel load and to charge its Lithium-Sulfur battery pack. The 4MW batteries, developed by Oxys Energy, are free of heavy metals, such as cobalt, and are considered safer than Li-ion batteries.
The pair have strengthened their proposition by drawing on the expertise of Derek Munro, director at Divergent Yachting, who was instrumental in the construction of Oceanco ’s groundbreaking build Black Pearl .
“Derek has first-hand experience on what can be optimized or simply didn’t work with Black Pearl ,” said Weigand, “and we’ve worked that into the design of Project Sonata to eliminate those points.”
The beamy exterior looks more like a motoryacht than a sailing vessel, with access to the outdoors and water. Courtesy Valentin Design
What works includes a 16-foot retractable keel that saves 6.5-feet of draft when required. The considerable DynaRig is low in maintenance yet highly durable, meaning a smaller crew is required. And, like Black Pearl , the tips of the masts can be unmounted to give enough clearance to sail under the Bridge of the Americas, and access the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal.
“ Black Pearl’s masts underwent three years of engineering and are proven to be highly efficient,” said Weigand. “By using the same molds on Project Sonata, we save time and money. In the same vein, the seating arrangement aboard Black Pearl is not ideal for heeling. We’ve ensured all exterior decks have been designed with heeling in mind.”
That said, Project Sonata has also undergone computational fluid dynamics studies to ensure it performs when sailing without heeling too much. “Most sailing superyachts’ main functions are regattas, which means they are super-fast, super light and heel a lot,” Acquaviva told Robb Report . “This can be really scary for owners who are used to stability and comfort, so our design prioritizes the guest experience. Our inverted hull extends the waterline length and cuts through waves.”
Courtesy Valentin Design
At 2,992 gross tonnes, the interior volume is sizable, complemented by features that follow the current trend for a connection to the outdoors. “The only thing our design lacks is a large swimming pool, which requires too much space on a sailing yacht,” said Weigand. “We’ve mitigated that with multiple exterior platforms to access the sea itself.”
A large sun deck affords alfresco dining. On the interior, glass is king, creating a design without visual borders. The master stateroom, spread across two decks, is virtually encased in a glass bubble. The VIP cabin enjoys direct access to its own private beach club, making a novel charter proposition. A double height atrium in the formal dining area speaks of elaborate guest entertainment. This also supports the studio’s intention to make the forward areas formal, so as guests move aft the more causal the design becomes.
Project Sonata, presented to the world by Ocean Independence, is a bold proposal from a studio made up of keen sailors, but whose sailing yacht designs to date have been limited to the 50-foot range. But that hasn’t deterred the dynamic pair.
Sonata’s inverted bow is as distinctive as its masts. Courtesy Valentin Design
“I’ve been sailing on boats since I was kid and worked in refit and construction for over 12 years,” said Acquaviva. “I understand what an owner wants from a sailing yacht, but equally what the crew need. When combined with visionary design and fully engineered naval architecture, we believe that’s a winning formula.”

The elliptical dining room was just as challenging. Here the wall panels had to be bent so that they fit into the substructure with an accuracy of one millimeter. Each bending shape had to be manufactured individually.
Entering aft along the upper deck, an intimate Parisian style tea room has been put in place. It features Louis XVI-inspired sofas and armchairs. Green, purple and pink colors give the space a feminine atmosphere which is also reflected by the curtains and cushions.
The vessel features 2 helicopter pads, a 12m swimming pool, a resort-inspired spa in the aft of the boat, and palatial breathtaking staircases.
TIS Yacht – Alexei Fedorychev
Alexei Fedorychev owns the Ukrainian transport company TIS. Reportedly her owner defaulted on the contract. The yacht was repossessed by Lurssen. She was listed for sale asking EUR 275,000,000.

MY Tis was presented to the public for the first time in September at the Monaco Yacht Show 2019 and, with 111 meters, is the largest motor yacht ever to be exhibited at the fair. At the 6th MYS Superyacht Awards in Monaco, it was also awarded the prize for “Best Interior Design”. With the implementation of the renowned interior, List GC proves once again that the Bad Erlach company is rightly one of the top outfitters in the class of high-end luxury yachts.

Inside the superyacht projects that never left the yard
Related articles.
For yacht designers, there’s nothing better than a big commission. But what happens when your dream project doesn’t make the water? Charlotte Hogarth-Jones speaks to four leading designers as they discuss the fate of superyacht projects that never left the shipyard...
PROJECT MARS
Studio H2 Yacht Design
Progress made Two years – the team were about to lay the keel
H2 Yacht Design: "Our involvement in Project Mars began while we were doing some refit work for a client. Towards the end of the job, I realised that there must be another project in the offing – but, for whatever reason, we hadn’t been invited to pitch for it.
"I had a word with the captain, who gave me a sense of what the owner was looking for, and I worked up some designs that I hoped I’d be able to show the client at the Monaco Yacht Show. Try as I might, however, I couldn’t get access to him. I was sitting in this café, feeling dejected, when across the road I caught sight of him, with his captain. I immediately ran over and asked if I could show him my ideas and, as luck would have it, he loved them. He basically pulled the plug on the other designer right there and then.
"Most clients were nervous about committing to this look in case it was just a trend. Now they’re everywhere! In terms of interiors, he was very into the idea of a clean, modern Scandinavian feel, but with a natural palette and some signature pieces based around nature, such as tree root coffee tables from Chista.
"About a year later, Fincantieri marketed the project for sale – it came close a few times with subtle variations, but the demand for such radical yachts is not as high as you might imagine, and an agreement could never quite be made."
For us, the story has a happy ending, as one day, six or seven years later, we got a call from a client representative in the Middle East who wanted to discuss the Mars project with us. That call led to the commissioning of the 123-metre Al Lusail project at Lürssen, so it was nice that something good came out of it in the end, and we’d had a test bed to develop in detail some interesting ideas that we then went on to transfer to other projects. Would I do it all again? Absolutely. Without Mars, we’d never have got to do Al Lusail , and the client was one of the most dynamic guys I’ve ever met. I owe him a lot.
PROJECT LIGHT
Studio Nauta Design
Progress made Construction had already begun at Fincantieri Yachts – plate cutting had started, the shaft lines were already built and the project was fully engineered and tank-tested
Nauta Design: "It’s not often that you get carte blanche to do exactly what you like as a brief, but that’s what we were asked to do by an owner back in 2006, who wanted us to design the exterior of a motor yacht. We met him through another one of our clients at a party. It was the largest yacht we’d ever been asked to design at the time, so it was a big deal for our studio, and we were thrilled to have so much freedom to work with.
"We didn’t think that yachts had enough outside space, and we wanted owners to connect more with the ocean. So, we changed the balance drastically, from about 30 per cent outdoor/70 per cent indoor space, to something more like 50/50, and we made windows a lot larger, with no obstructions.
"Project Light was to include 640 square metres of free teak decks, and 770 square metres of luxurious accommodation “wrapped” in 200 square metres of glass surfaces. At the time this was revolutionary – no one was doing things this way.
"Then, the global financial crisis of 2008 happened, and I think it was a surprise for everyone apart from a few very savvy financiers who saw it coming. Our client’s business was doing really well, and we were two years into the project. It wasn’t nice."
"By the time we were given notice that the project wasn’t going to go ahead any more, Project Light had been fully tank-tested in the Netherlands, and they’d just started cutting the steel. The owner lost their deposit to Fincantieri shipyard, which basically paid for the extensive engineering and testing they’d done and things that they’d bought, such as the propeller shafts. Thankfully the steel could be used on projects elsewhere.
"We were paid for all our design work, and to be honest, the project was absolutely a good thing for us, because it led to us being contacted by the future owners of Azzam , one of the largest yachts in the world. They’d seen Project Light and loved the boldness of it. In the end, what we designed for them didn’t have many elements in common with Project Light – they didn’t want as much exterior space as the climate they were using the yacht in was so different – but we did apply the same big, light windows, and the two yachts have the same grace and lighter superstructure.
"We tried to market Light at the time and sell it along with Fincantieri, but there were few who were interested in something so niche. But we did have a handful of people interested, and in one meeting an American prospect, a very refined gentleman, commented that Light “could have been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright”. That was arguably the best compliment we ever received."
PROJECT ROSSY ONE
Studio Luca Dini Design & Architecture
Progress made Exterior renovation was well under way; new interior was designed but not installed
Luca Dini Design & Architecture: "I’ve got no problem admitting that I felt completely in awe the first time I stepped on board Rossy One . Here was a yacht that had gone through such important and terrible phases throughout history. It was exciting to have the opportunity to work on a boat with a real soul.
"The yacht was launched in 1931 with the name Argosy and had been designed for a New York banker by Cox & Stevens. It became an American Navy warship during the Second World War (renamed Cythera ), after which it was bought by the American League for a Free Palestine, largely thanks to funds obtained with the proceeds of a theatrical script by the writer Ben Hecht, from which the boat took its name.
" Cythera , however, was accosted by Britain’s Royal Navy not far from the Palestinian coast with more than 600 Jewish refugees on board, and the vessel was then redirected to Haifa, where it once more became a warship – INS Maoz. It was abandoned at the end of the Suez/Sinai campaign in 1956, and then operated as a passenger ferry on the Sorrento-Capri line under the name Santa Maria del Mare, until it was bought in 2006 by the Italian owner I knew.
"I already knew him because I’d designed a yacht for him previously, so we had a good working relationship. Seeing this beautiful classic yacht sitting abandoned, and planning its return to its glory days, was simply exhilarating. Unfortunately, due to financial problems, and also a lack of time on the owner’s part to commit to such a big project, Rossy One was stopped at a very advanced stage. The renovation of the exterior was well under way, while my interior project was complete – it just hadn’t been put into practice yet.
"I feel bittersweet about the whole thing and, to me, Rossy One seems like unfinished business. Yet, after several years, I still feel very proud of it and close to it. Had it gone ahead, it would have been one of the highlights of my career, I’m sure of it."
PROJECT ICEBREAKER
Studio Studio Indigo
Progress made Five months – a Scandinavian shipyard had been identified and visited, plus a concept GA had become a working GA. An interior outfitter had also been identified
Studio Indigo: "In late 2016, we were approached by a client to undertake a feasibility study for an 85-metre polar ice-class explorer yacht. We were absolutely delighted – it was exciting new territory for our design team, although the clients and their tastes were familiar to us. They were known for their forward-thinking and open-minded approach, and they made it clear that they wanted to push the boundaries a bit, so the yacht was always going to be something very special.
"As well as a charter yacht, they also wanted the boat to serve as a research and conservation platform, so the brief was to create a super-efficient, functional vessel that would be as capable of pushing through sheet ice near the North Pole as it would be cruising up the Amazon.
"It had equally appointed accommodation for up to 24 guests, and each suite had side-deck access directly from the cabin. The boat had an impressive list of toys too – including ROVs, submarines, a snowcat and four snowmobiles – plus three panoramic viewing lounges, one of which floated above the convertible helicopter hangar.
"Our design incorporated exposed beams and cambered ceilings with bronze bracing details. Natural materials were used in abundance, with brushed wooden floors and weathered teak joinery, all softened by plush contemporary furniture and textured wall panels.
"Part of the theme of the vessel encompassed wellness and retreat, so the spa facilities on board were also considered carefully. We looked at how part of the hull floor could be glass, creating a viewing portal to admire the sea life while being pampered by hot stone or mud treatment massages, and we planned to illuminate the water beneath the boat to attract curious sea life. Seeing a beluga whale swim while you’re being massaged would have certainly given you something to talk about at dinner!
"Project Icebreaker reached a fairly advanced stage, with meetings being held with a Scandinavian specialist shipyard and interior outfitter in both our London studio and over there, and the specification of helicopter and tenders had also been considered. Then the client’s personal circumstances suddenly changed, and the project had to be shelved.
We were particularly disappointed as this boat represented something so completely new and challenging for us, and working with a client you know is also a huge advantage, as you really understand how they live and what their values are. We aren’t aware of any intention to restart the project, so we’ve moved on for now. But we always keep in mind that one day we may be called up to reignite this visionary and hugely ambitious project. You never know…"

Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly gifted himself a $300 million megayacht, dubbed “Launchpad,” ahead of his 40th birthday.
The staggering 387-foot-long vessel was seen floating at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after arriving at its berth earlier this week, The Sun reported Thursday.
The multi-layered luxury ship’s sleek exterior was designed by Espen Øino International and boasts a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, according to SuperYacht Times.
Reportedly ranking as the 45th largest yacht in the world, the interiors are just as aesthetically pleasing and reportedly executed by Zuretti Interior Design company, a France-based company specializing in unique and custom yacht design.
The breathtakingly beautiful floater stands out with a navy blue theme matching an American flag perched proudly on its wood-paneled stern.
There are several outdoor areas where the social media maven will be able to relax with his family and the indoor levels feature glass paneling allowing for tons of natural light.

Boatworld insiders have been buzzing with speculation that Zuckerberg is the owner of the newly minted mega-cruise ever since it made its main voyage from the Netherlands last week.
The tech titan was spotted touring the Russian-commissioned megayacht in early March, though the impressive boat didn’t arrive stateside until this week due to sanctions, according to The Sun.
The website reported that Zuckerberg purchased the pricey yacht – along with its own $30 million partner boat — most likely as an early 40th birthday present to himself.
The boat reportedly traveled to Florida after being granted special permission to be imported just weeks ahead of Zuckerberg’s birthday on May 14.
Zuckerberg’s yacht is just 30 feet shorter than the length of fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos’ 417-foot megayacht Koru, which the Amazon boss snagged for a whopping $500 million.
Zuckerberg’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Mark Zuckerberg’s $300million ‘birthday present’ mega yacht arrives in US – it even has its own $30m ‘wingman’ boat
- Isabelle Hajek , Freelance News & Blogs Reporter
- Published : 1:05 ET, Mar 21 2024
- Updated : 16:54 ET, Mar 21 2024
FACEBOOK founder Mark Zuckerberg has shown off his wealth at sea, bringing his multimillion-dollar yacht to the United States just weeks before his birthday.
After rumors the billionaire was looking to invest in a yacht began circulating, Zuckerberg was quick to snag a $300 million mega yacht complete with its own $30 million partner boat.
He was seen in the Netherlands touring Project 1010, a Russian-commissioned mega yacht, in early March.
Due to sanctions involved in importing the vessel to the United States, delivery of Zuckerberg's multimillion-dollar boat was delayed.
It was first spotted in home waters on March 20.
The 387-foot-long vessel docked at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with its chrome finish reflecting a harsh sun.

Project 1010 made its maiden voyage from the Netherlands after receiving special permission to be imported just weeks ahead of Zuckerberg's birthday, which is on May 14, raising questions about whether it could be a gift to mark the occasion.
The mega vessel is not far off the size of Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos' $500 million 417-foot tall mega yacht, Koru, which was spotted in the same state in November 2023.
The Abeona, his mega yacht's support vessel, a 264-foot garage to hold Bezos' luxury cars, private helicopter, and jet skis, was docked at a slip four miles away.
To put into perspective the additional costs Zuckerberg is looking at, Bezos reportedly bankrolled a $16,500 per week bill for Koru to stay at the port, part of the $25 million in annual costs the ship will rack up.

But cost is no object to 39-year-old Zuckerberg, as he was the youngest billionaire to make the top 10 wealthiest people in the world list.
In 2021, Zuckerberg was reportedly worth $108 billion, an amount that rose to $138.4 billion by January 2024.
Zuckerberg is hardly known for conserving his money when faced with large purchases.
In December 2021, it was reported that Zuckerberg was breaking ground on an estimated $270 million, 57,000-square-foot Doomsday bunker.
Plans for the structure include filling the football field-sized space with 30 bedrooms, elevators, a swimming pool, sauna, tennis court, and full-sized gym.
EARNING $48,328 - MINUTE BY MINUTE
While a $330 million purchase might sound outlandish to most, especially when coupled with a $270 million bunker, Zuckerberg can make that money back in about two months.
The Meta, formerly Facebook, founder reportedly makes between $6 million and $12 million each day, equating to an estimated yearly earning of more than $3 billion.
In 2018, Zuckerberg earned roughly $1.7 million an hour, according to previous Business Insider calculations.
By 2020, he ranked as the fourth richest person on the planet.

Russia’s improved Kilo-class submarine entering Black Sea
In the midst of ukraine-russia tensions, russia's improved kilo-class (project 636.3) submarine "rostov-na-donu (b-237)" entered the dardanelles on february 12 en route to the black sea. the submarine belongs to the black sea fleet's 4th independent submarine brigade..
Tayfun Ozberk 12 Feb 2022
Rostov-na-Donu will transit Bosphorus tomorrow morning and enter the Black Sea. Following the deployment of Rostov-na-Donu , the Russian Black Sea Fleet will have four improved Kilo-class submarines equipped with Kalibr land-attack missiles in the Black Sea. According to the OSINT reports , the Black Sea Fleet’s other two Project 636.3 submarines (B-262 Stary Oskol , B-265 Krasnodar ) are currently in Russia’s Tartous Naval Base in Syria.
Russia has been reinforcing its Black Sea Fleet since last week. As Naval News reported on February 08, the first part of a Russian Navy amphibious landing ship force consists of three Ropucha-class amphibious assault ships ( Minsk (127), Korolev (130) , and Kaliningrad (102)), which can carry troops, tanks, and supplies, has entered the Black Sea. On February 08 , three additional amphibious vessels (Project 775 (Ropucha-class) Georgy Pobedonosets (016), Olenegorsky Gornyak (012), and Project 11711 (Ivan Gren-class) Pyotr Morgunov (017)) of the Russian Navy transited the Bosporus tonight to enter the Black Sea.
In addition to the current tensions in the region, Russia issued NOTAMs in the Black Sea on February 9, effectively blocking the entrance to the Sea of Azov as well as the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk. The NOTAMs were released in preparation for the Black Sea Fleet’s live missile and gun firing exercises, which will take place from February 13 to February 19, 2022.
The naval capabilities of both countries and the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s possible course of action are given in our January analysis .
About Improved Kilo-class submarines:
Improved Kilo-class submarines are referred to as the third generation of large diesel-electric submarines, which were built at the JSC Admiralty Shipyards for the Russian Navy’s main fleets. Originally, these submarines are called Project 636.3, in Western countries, they are defined as Improved Kilo-class, which are the upgraded version of Project 877 (Kilo-class) subs.
The improved Kilo-class submarines are designed to conduct anti-shipping and anti-submarine missions in shallow waters and feature stealth technology with extended combat range to strike land, surface, and underwater targets.
According to Russia, the Project 636.3 submarines are among the world’s quietest submarines. It is 74 meters long, has a displacement of over 3,900 tonnes, and has an operational depth of 240 meters. It can operate at a maximum depth of 300 meters and has a range of 7,500 nautical miles.
The submarines have a cruising speed of 20 knots, a range of 400 nautical miles using electronic propulsion, can patrol for 45 days, and can accommodate a crew of 52. They are equipped with 6×533 mm torpedo tubes with 18 torpedoes and eight Strela-3/Igla-1 surface-to-air missiles. Alternatively, the torpedo tubes can deploy 24 mines.
These submarines are powered with two 4DL-42M diesel generators, 1500 kW each (1000 kW each for the first 2 diesel generators). Different from Project 877 submarines which have a 6 bladed propeller, Improved Kilo-class subs are fitted with a 7 bladed propeller.
The MGK-400EM digital sonar is installed on Type 636.3. The sonar suit, according to Robosonexport, detects submarine and surface ship targets in sonar listening mode, echo-ranging in a 30° sector of the target relative bearing, telephone and telegraph communication in both long and short-range modes, detection of underwater sound signals, and signal-bearing determination.

The Russian Defense Ministry explained that “the right to bear this title goes to submarine crews with a high level of training, demonstrated through the accomplishment of missions with Russian Naval units in the Mediterranean Sea.”
- Rostov-on-Don, or B-237, is a modernized Kilo-class attack submarine. The second of eight units commissioned as part of a series called “Project 636.6,” Rostov-on-Don boasts across-the-board iterative improvements over the original Soviet Kilo-class line.
- Rostov-on-Don is one of countless Russian weapons to cut its teeth on the Syrian Civil War, providing its crew with live combat experience while furthering Moscow’s export ambitions and geopolitical designs.
- But why would the Russians send a submarine to attack land-based encampments in Syria? There are, after all, any number of more conventional means to target a hostile base in a region where the Russian Army Force has total free reign.
- The story of Rostov-on-Don, the first Russian submarine to fire in anger since World War II, shows how the Syrian experience shaped a generation of Russian military personnel while influencing ongoing weapons research and development projects.

- Unlike the United States Navy, which went all-in on nuclear power, Russia maintains fleets of both diesel and nuclear-powered submarines. While Russia maintains nuclear submarines for distant ocean patrols, its fleet of diesel submarines is more than adequate for conflicts in Europe, the Middle East and the Russian near abroad.
- These subs are powered by two diesel generators and an electric drive, giving them enough power to make ten knots at the surface and seventeen knots underwater. They are not fast submarines. They have a range of six thousand to 7,500 nautical miles, meaning that from the Russian Northern Fleet headquarters they can patrol for one thousand nautical miles and then go on to Cuba.
- Neither are they particularly deep divers. According to Combat Fleets of the World , the Kilo-class normally dives to just 787 feet, with a maximum diving depth of 984 feet. The submarines do particularly well in shallow water, where a pair of ducted props powered by low-speed motoring motors likely allows it to operate closer to the sea floor.
- A lot of silencing went into the Kilos. The hull is described as having the approximate shape of a drop of water and greatly reducing water resistance over older, World War II–era submarine designs. The propulsion plant is isolated on a rubber base so it doesn’t touch the hull, preventing vibrations from turning into noise that can be heard outside the boat. The ship has a rubbery anechoic coating to deaden noise emanating from the submarine, which occasionally gives the submarines a blocky appearance noticeable in photographs. The air regeneration system can keep the crew supplied with oxygen for up to 260 hours, giving the ship almost two weeks’ worth of underwater endurance.
- The sensor suite consists of the MGK-400 Rubikon (Shark Gill) low-frequency active and passive radar suite with a passive hull array. It also has a MG519 Mouse Roar high-frequency radar for target classification and mine avoidance. For simple surface navigation and search the Kilos are equipped with the MRK-50 Albatros radar.
- Finally, the Kilos have six torpedo tubes of standard 533-millimeter diameter, and were originally configured to carry homing torpedoes and eighteen SS-N-15A Starfish antisubmarine missiles. On the last ships of the class, two of the torpedo tubes are capable of firing wire-guided torpedoes. Also unique to this class is a position for a seaman with a shoulder-figured Igla man-portable air-defense missile launcher.
- The 636.3 class was an all-around upgrade. The dimensions of the submarine are essentially the same, but the bow has been reshaped to improve hydrodynamic flow. It features improved quietness due to further isolation of the machinery, moving other machinery to areas where they would make less noise. The submarine also has 25 percent greater range than previous versions. Major sonar systems, however, are largely the same as in the original Kilo-class.
- One major improvement of the 636.3 class is the ability to launch Kalibur cruise missiles. Kalibur (the export version is known as Klub) is a versatile class of missile with land-attack, antiship, and antisubmarine warfare versions. In December 2016, the Russian submarine Rostov-on-Don launched Kalibur land-attack missiles against Islamic State .
