If the idea of a getaway—an authentic escape—sounds like the answer to your current reality, consider chartering an expedition superyacht. These six explorers are built to travel to the most remote and fascinating places on the planet, without sacrificing luxury. Add small submarines, helicopters and snowmobiles to leave the rest of the world behind.

superyacht escape

The herculean 254-foot Legend started life as a Russian ice-breaking tug, crunching through the floes of the inhospitable Barents Sea. After conversion to an expedition superyacht in 2003, she had a total refit in 2015 to transform her into a true luxury explorer. With a range of more than 7,500 miles, Legend usually spends her summers north of Greenland and around the Baltics and her winters in Antarctica. She has accommodations for 22 guests, with 28 crew. Legend has all the toys for the ice road less traveled: two helicopters, four tenders and, best of all, a three-person U-Boat Worx C-Explorer mini-sub.

ICING ON THE CAKE: Piano bar, whiskey bar and snowmobiles.

RATES: From $506,000 per week .

Planet Nine

superyacht escape

Heading off the grid can be done in style aboard this 240-footer. Designed by Britain’s venerated Tim Heywood, its high-end highlights include a beach club with wellness spa and a movie theater with a 119-inch screen. She can lodge 12 guests and carry 20 crew. Beneath the glossy trappings, Planet Nine is a true explorer with an ice-rated, high-tensile steel hull, 16-knot max and 6,000-mile range. The yacht has a commercial-load helipad to accommodate its MD-600N Explorer helicopter and two custom 32-foot Rupert Marine twin-diesel tenders. Find her exploring Northern Europe this summer.

ICING ON THE CAKE: 3,000-square-foot master suite with dressing rooms, salon, study and private terrace.

RATES: From $716,000 per week .

superyacht escape

While it looks like a Mediterranean cruiser, this 147- foot superyacht was designed as a world explorer, capable of pummeling giant waves in the Southern Ocean. The yacht brims with technical innovations, such as custom-laminated acoustic and thermal windows and epoxy-infused granite decking. It has staterooms for 10 and crew quarters for 10. For self-sufficiency, there are 11 Hoshizaki fridges and freezers, and fuel tanks that hold around 25,000 gallons, or enough for 10,000 miles. Big Fish will be located in the South Pacific and Australia for the summer.

ICING ON THE CAKE: A 22-foot- tall video wall in its central lobby.

RATES: From $245,000 per week .

Project Ragnar

superyacht escape

“A rhino disguised as a swan.” That’s how the builders of the 223-foot ice crusher Project Ragnar describe this to-the-ends-of-the-earth explorer yacht. Originally built in 2012 as an ice-breaker supply ship, the yacht is fresh out of a two-year, stem-to-stern conversion by Icon Yachts. The makeover included a redesign by UK designers RWD that transformed the bow and superstructure. The vessel has a top speed of 12.5 knots and range of 6,000 miles. Able to house 12 guests and 13 crew, the boat will visit Scandinavia and cruise across the Northwest Passage and around the US to Alaska.

ICING ON THE CAKE: Onboard wellness center with steam room and snow room, and a Ripsaw EV2 snowcat.

RATES: From $525,000 per week .

default

Top up Yersin’s 92,000-gallon tanks, and the spectacular 251-foot luxury expedition yacht will take you from, say, San Francisco to the southern tip of South America and back. That’s more than 15,000 miles on one tank. With diesel-electric propulsion and catalytic exhausts that filter 99.8 percent of emissions, Yersin has also been designed to have minimal impact on the environment. The summer itinerary is Northern Europe. Foul-weather features include a 12-seat movie theater, spa and gym. Guest quarters house 12, while crew size can expand to 24.

ICING ON THE CAKE: Research lab, medical facilities and 12-person classroom.

RATES: From about $474,000 per week .

superyacht escape

This hulking, 208-foot explorer, dubbed “the world’s most adventurous superyacht,” is currently on a voyage in the Indian Ocean, with her Triton submersible diving to one of the deepest points in the world’s oceans. SuRi also typically visits Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Palau. Her rear hangar is packed with everything from a four-seat Eurocopter Squirrel helicopter and SeaRey amphibious plane to her two-seat Triton sub and 30-foot StanCraft wooden speedboat. Able to accommodate 12 guests with 20 crew, she has a range of 9,900 miles at 11 knots.

ICING ON THE CAKE: Glass floor panels in the salon to view sea life below.

RATES: From $350,000 per week .

Positive Customer Review: "One of the most memorable parts for me was the launch. I went with my wife, and Benetti had a Roman Catholic priest bless the yacht. It was very beautiful with all the Italian music and then the British national anthem, and it was all very unexpected. I thought I was just going to be putting the boat in the water, but in fact it turned into a very emotional day!" - Owner of a Benetti called motor yacht 11:11

SUPERYACHT LIFE

The Great Escape

The idea of carpe diem – seizing the day – has never had more resonance. It is perhaps one reason for a growing boom in yacht sales as people look to embrace the sheer pleasure of being on the ocean after a torrid year.

As the fresh blossom of spring yields to the warm blue of early summer, it is starting to feel like we might finally be slowly emerging from the frustrations and horrors of the past year. While things are still a long way from normal, those lockdown dreams of open air, sparkling azure water, gentle ocean breezes and the sun on our faces are starting to feel within reach once again. Indeed, the latest figures from the yacht market suggest that more people than ever before are craving that seaborne escape – sales through the end of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 in the superyacht sector, for example, have broken records. The first three months of 2021 have seen 133 brokerage sales of yachts above 24 metres – a massive 46 per cent increase over the same period in 2020, according to BOAT Pro. Critically, it appears that a lot of those sales are being driven by first-time buyers. But what has suddenly led to this renewed thirst for the ocean?

The obvious assumption would be that yachting has afforded a degree of escape in relative safety amid the pandemic, and that this, in turn, has fuelled sales. As Rob McCallum – founding partner of EYOS Expeditions – explains, with considerable planning some guests have been able to enjoy time on the water even as international travel has proven complicated. “In the beginning, even flying privately, it was very difficult,” he says. “But we’ve managed to keep things going throughout with, for example, our work with DSSV (deep submersible support vessel) Pressure Drop , which has been working in the western Pacific. We’ve had to do 14-day quarantines, but the guests are allowed to do that on the vessel. So people fly in and are met by an agent, and then they’re taken by special vehicle to the dock and get directly on the vessel, doing the same in reverse on their return.”

The Great Escape

However, this perception of a perfect escape that keeps you, your family and friends protected in a self-contained ‘bubble’ might not be the main driver of the surging demand. “For sure, there are a lot of people who have been feeling frustrated over the past 12 months have not been able to move freely, and that has been one catalyst for people stepping forward,” begins Ian Sherwood, a yacht broker with internationally renowned brokerage firm Burgess . “In particular I think there are a lot more first-time buyers at the moment – perhaps those who before were long-term charterers who are taking those first steps into ownership. There are a lot of charter bookings for 2021 that were rescheduled from 2020, meaning some of the charter boats are already very busy, but there’s still uncertainty about 2021 and on top of all that some charter boats may be stuck in the wrong regions which means there is even less availability. I think that has driven a lot of charterers to say, ‘we can’t do what we want to do so maybe being an owner is the answer as we can drive the calendar and know that the boat is always available.”

Of course, this surge to the sea presents interesting problems in itself. While most builders were quick to implement new working practices at the start of the pandemic that not only protected their workforces but also allowed them to keep on top of their pre-pandemic build schedules, a rise in demand naturally is putting pressure on the market. “This, perhaps, is the very tail-end of the 2008 global financial crisis, as the after-effect of that was a dip in production, and subsequently yacht deliveries between 2013 to 2015,” Sherwood explains. “That means there are now fewer five-year-old boats around.”

The Great Escape

There does remain an increasing appeal of yachting as a safe haven escape, but again there are other facets of the past year that are driving interest. “There are very few vacations that are as COVID-19 secure as being on a private yacht – you can fly in privately to a yacht where the crew have been health-screened and pre-quarantined, and there are not many options that can offer that low level of risk or exposure to the virus,” Sherwood offers. “And then there’s the fact that we are becoming more flexible in the wider world, that people are more accepting that we don’t need to be behind a desk, or at least not the desk in our usual office space. A lot of our clients are asking about that – connectivity and office space on board is a big request. The ability to work remotely from a yacht offers a different option to people.”

But fundamentally, perhaps there is an even greater reason or a greater imperative to why so many people have sought yachting – and yachts – as an escape this past year. It is less to do with being the only option, and more to do with a renewed sense of life and a reordering of priorities – a surge of seizing the day, if you will. “I think really it comes down to just why wouldn’t you do your thing?” Sherwood concludes. “After the last 12 months and everything we’ve gone through, if you have the ability to own or to charter a yacht – of any size – then why on earth aren’t you doing it? It’s the perfect time to take the plunge.”

Luxury yacht inferno: Tourists leap into the sea to escape flames

A terrifying end to a luxury trip in Turkey occurred when a yacht with approximately 110 tourists on board caught fire. Many people saved themselves by making risky jumps directly into the sea.

The tourists, traveling on a luxury yacht off the coast of paradise-like Marmaris in Turkey, experienced moments of horror. The resort has the largest yacht port in the country, and tourists eagerly use it during their holidays there.

One of the cruises had a tragic ending. The yacht, with approximately 110 people on board, caught fire .

A video posted online shows the fire consuming the cruiser and a pillar of smoke rising high into the air. Some tourists saved themselves by making risky jumps straight into the sea .

The film was shot from the deck of another ship. Rescue boats and people drifting in the water are visible, being thrown life rings . The crews of nearby vessels also rushed to help. The yacht burned down and sank .

Tourist paradise burns

Turkey has also been experiencing record heat for many days. Temperatures exceeding 104 degrees Fahrenheit have led to dangerous fires, which emergency services nationwide have been battling for over two weeks.

The most serious situation currently is in Izmir, western Turkey, where a forest fire has forced the suspension of operations at the local airport.

Fires related to high temperatures are also breaking out in Bulgaria. In the south of the country, in the village of Voden, 35 houses were burned down . Some residents fled their farms, and authorities forcibly evacuated some. In neighboring North Macedonia, a fire is consuming mountain forests near Bitola. Firefighters report that the fire line there is over eighteen miles long.

Extreme heat is also persisting in Italy. The record-high temperatures are caused by an African anticyclone named "Charon." The highest red alert status has been declared in 12 cities, including Rome, Bologna, and Florence. In Foggia, Taranto, Rome, and Sicily, thermometers showed over 104 degrees Fahrenheit this week .

Yächtley Crëw will bring 'yacht rock' to Providence, with a Warwick native on board

If songs like “I'd Really Love to See You Tonight” and “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” make you think of kicking back on a boat and cruising in the summertime, you’re not alone.

YouTube coined the genre “yacht rock” to describe the soft rock sound of the 1970s and '80s, and Warwick native Tom Gardner, guitarist with the band Yächtley Crëw , invites you to get on board with the vibes when their “Full Steam Ahead” tour stops at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 27.

“It’s like a feeling that reminds you of your childhood or first love. It’s nostalgia,” says Gardner, who goes by the stage name Tommy Buoy. “It’s actually a jazz-rock fusion that’s pretty hard to play. We had to step up our game to learn these songs, many of which were originally performed by high-quality studio musicians.”

After years performing solo and in bands across the region – maybe you’ve heard his song “Summertime in Rhode Island” with the rock/reggae band Someday Providence – Gardner moved to Los Angeles in 2010. He connected with six other musicians to form Yächtley Crëw, which performed for the first time in January 2017, and he says “it’s been kind of a rocket ride since then.”

Clad in nautical attire for shows, the band has performed with artists like Elliot Lurie, lead singer of the band Looking Glass, whose song “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” is one of the covers Yächtley Crëw regularly includes in set lists. After signing with Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records label, they also had a six-month residency in Las Vegas.

Born in 1983, Gardner, a Pilgrim High School and University of Rhode Island graduate, says he was drawn to the mellow sound of yacht rock even before it was so named. Songs like Steely Dan’s “Reeling in the Years,” “Don’t Bring Me Down” by ELO and “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates are buoyant, he says.

As for the definition of yacht rock, he says that’s highly debated in the industry but generally revolves around big vocals and harmonies.

“We let the fans tell us what they want to hear,” Gardner says. “Some songs end up borderline yacht rock, but if the fans love it, we’ll play it. We also bring our own style. We’re faithful to the originals, but we are high-energy with choreography, banter and lights. We’re here to entertain!”

Yächtley Crëw performed several years ago at The Strand in Providence, but the group has multiple venues in the area on this year’s tour, including three in Massachusetts: Indian Ranch in Webster , South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, and the Cape Cod Melody tent in Hyannis.

“The whole sailing vibe fits in with New England,” Gardner says, adding that he loves returning to his home state. “I’m always going to be proud of Rhode Island. It’s special when we see someone from here – it’s like one big town.”

What’s Going On With Dubai’s Princesses?

Image may contain Princess Haya bint Al Hussein Person Adult Wristwatch Car Transportation Vehicle and Accessories

On July 18, Shaikha Mahra Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum posted an announcement to her 875,000 Instagram followers that was addressed to just one. “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You,” wrote the princess, who is the daughter of Dubai’s ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “Take care. Your ex-wife.”

It received more than half a million likes and was picked up by news outlets around the world, from tabloids to broadsheets. The former was to be expected—when does a messy public divorce not get covered in the Daily Mail ? But the latter indicated a more serious undertone. CNN and the BBC don’t cover low-stakes gossip or put in inquiries to official state entities after a public divorce announcement. Which, in this case, they did: “Dubai’s government and the UAE Embassy in London did not immediately respond to requests for comment,” the British news organization wrote.

Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Dubai has a princess problem. Over the past two decades, multiple royal women have made international headlines for their discontent living in the confines of the emirate. In 2019, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein—the sixth wife of Sheik Mohammed—fled the UAE with her two children for Great Britain. According to the BBC , she said she was in fear for her life. Even when Haya resettled in London, she says she received threatening messages that told her: “We can reach you anywhere.” Two years later, a judge ordered the sheik to pay Haya $734 million— the largest financial award the UK family courts have ever seen. (A spokesperson for Sheik Mohammed told the BBC in 2022 that he denied the allegations made against him. “He loves his children and cherishes their love for him. He has always cared and provided for them and always will,” they said.)

Then there are the sheik’s daughters Latifa and Shamsa, two of his 26 children. In 2018, Latifa tried to escape Dubai via yacht, calling the city “an open-air prison,” according to an investigative report in The New Yorker. Yet, off the coast of India, a group of masked men reportedly grabbed Latifa from the deck and dragged her back to shore. In videos later aired by the BBC, she claimed she was being held captive. “I’m a hostage. This villa has been converted into jail. All the windows are barred shut, I can’t open any window…. I’ve been by myself, solitary confinement. No access to medical help, no trial, no charge, nothing.” (In 2022, the UN tweeted a photo of Latifa with Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in Paris. Her representatives released a statement at that time that “she is living as she wishes.”)

Shamsa, meanwhile, tried to flee her family in 2000 while on vacation in the United Kingdom, yet soon after she was allegedly grabbed off the street in Cambridge. She hasn’t been seen in public for 23 years. In addition to the New Yorker ’s extensive article, the plight of the princesses was the subject of a BBC Panorama documentary, as well as a four-episode podcast, “The Runaway Princesses,” by In the Dark .

All this to say: There’s a real reason why the world, and its most fastidious news organizations, paid close attention to Mahra’s post. Life has been difficult for the Emirati princesses who have publicly aired their discontent. What would the outcome be here?

Three days ago, the princess posted on Instagram a photo of herself holding her infant daughter in front of an artwork of a horse. The comments section was flooded with well-wishers.

On-Board  SWEET ESCAPE

By Katia Damborsky | 2nd Oct 2019

When YachtCharterFleet had the privilege of being hosted on board the 40m/ 130ft motor yacht ‘Sweet Escape’ in the Bahamas, we quickly discovered this yacht provides a charter experience which lives up to her name.

Delivered by Washington-based shipyard Christensen in 1993, Sweet Escape has been impressing guests with her stunning selection of amenities and boundless versatility since she joined the charter fleet in 2014.

An interior refit in 2017 breathed fresh life back into her on-board spaces, as well as bestowing her with a newly extended swim platform.

She is primed for yacht charters in the Bahamas , with a shallow draft, ample deck areas and plenty of room for toys.

But all that aside, what really sets this yacht apart is how adaptable she is as a charter platform.

As YachtCharterFleet soon learnt, Sweet Escape is a multi-faceted hostess, capable of providing sensational party nights, laid-back fun or child-friendly family charters according to the preferences of her guests.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 8

The motor yacht sports a strong and streamlined exterior penned by Howard Apollino. With her wide expanses of glazing and well-proportioned decks, the yacht has all the hallmarks of a classic in the making.

Looking radiant against the aquamarine ocean of Nassau, Sweet Escape was a picture of elegance and grace when we arrived for our 4-day cruise around the Exumas, and we were welcomed on board with open arms.

Refreshing interiors

SWEET ESCAPE photo 1

There is on-board ambience of refined opulence, gently balanced by playfulness.

The yacht’s interior styling is a collaborative effort between Glade Johnson Design, Susan Peluo, Pam Williams and Patty Walker.

The design houses have joined forces to create an ambience of refined opulence, gently balanced by a playfulness that makes her on-board spaces warm and inviting.

Guests are treated to their first taste of the yacht’s interiors in the main salon, which is illuminated by a colour-changing ceiling panel and a circular chandelier encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

The space commands your attention from every direction but manages to feel uncluttered at the same time.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 22

Through large windows, light floods into the space and provides incredible views over the surroundings. A plush grey crescent of sofas brushed in velour dominates the salon, opposite a self-playing Roland piano to starboard.

An eclectic art piece above the sofa injects some colour into the space; it's an original Britto, and the Brazillian artist's signature vibrancy and pop-art style draws the eye immediately.

An original art piece by Brazilian artist Britto hangs above the sofa.

The rest of the space features gleaming chrome, rich gold and prismatic patterns which nod to an overarching Art Deco theme. This unique theme is one that is iconic in Miami, and the yacht takes plenty of interior cues from the city; from seaside furnishings to electric blue pops of colour.

Located aft, there is a large TV which is connected to a games console. This entertainment set-up will provide hours of indoor entertainment for charter guests of all ages.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 11

The main salon is equipped with two separate dining areas. Located aft there is a relaxed, four-person set-up which is ideally suited for children’s meals away from the adult conversation.

Positioned forward, a sophisticated arrangement is better-suited to formal meals and special occasions, and it seats up to 12 guests. This dining salon connects seamlessly to the lounging area, separated only by a glass wine cabinet that ensures the spaces are not severed from one another.

Heading through a door in the dining salon, guests will find the central lobby. A sweeping staircase and bespoke artworks contribute to a homely energy, with the galley located to port, a dayhead to starboard and the main deck VIP cabin located further forward.

Stylish VIP cabin

SWEET ESCAPE photo 2

Continuing along the corridor, guests find themselves in one of the two VIP suites. While the main deck forward is typically reserved for the owner’s cabin, this deviation from the norm allows for two highly luxurious VIP suites and increased cabin flexibility.

In the main deck VIP, a plush bed takes centre stage. A bijou seating area with a vanity table is found to port, with a large TV screen hanging over a footstool opposite the bed.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 28

This unique layout allows for two highly luxurious VIP suites and increased cabin flexibility.

As a full-beam suite, the cabin benefits from wide windows which offer broad-ranging views over the outside seascape, a vista which is perfectly complemented by the aquamarine colour palette that enlivens the VIP.

Textured artworks above the bed add depth and dimension, while a tablet is on hand to control the suite's entertainment system and light settings.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 39

An en-suite bathroom and generous, fully-integrated wardrobe ensure guests have everything they need at their fingertips. The en-suite is home to a marble-clad double shower room, a sleek sink, and a bidet head.

Highly-flexible configuration which is primed for chartering with children

In total, the yacht has the capacity to host up to 12 guests in six cabins.

Descending the staircase, guests arrive on the lower deck. Five guest cabins are invitingly-laid out, with the second VIP suite located aft and the owner's suite forward.

The second VIP follows a similar layout to its sister cabin above, with a large bed, TV and cleverly-integrated storage solutions.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 3

The en suite meanwhile, is tastefully furnished with a full bath and shower combination and the finest luxury toiletries on offer for guests to take advantage of.

The remaining three guest cabins include two suites that can function as either twins or double, thanks to convertible berths which are extra-long for maximum comfort.

The convertible berths have been meticulously furnished in neutral tones with infusions of orange, and they both have individual wardrobes and complete control over the light and entertainment systems.

The most significant difference between the two comes from the en-suite in the portside cabin, which is shared with the sixth and final stateroom.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 92

The final suite is ideal for little ones or those chartering with a nanny or bodyguard. It features two Pullman-style berths arranged in a way that maximises space.

Features include a hanging locker, storage drawers and a remote for controlling the entertainment system and lighting.

Well-appointed owner’s suite

SWEET ESCAPE photo 4

Located forward is the owner’s suite. This full-beam cabin boasts a wealth of extras to ensure a superior living space for the principal charter guest.

Among them, there is a mini-fridge, a charming vanity set-up and small sofa lounging area. As in all of the cabins, the guests are able to control their temperature, entertainment and audio systems.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 36

In addition, guests can enjoy separate his and hers en suites.

Each is sumptuously furnished in mock mahogany with 1920's French motifs and nautical touches which together create a palatial atmosphere.

The 'her's suite is found portside in a small inlet in the suite, opposite a generous walk-in closet. It is equipped with a Jacuzzi tub, overhead shower, bidet head and backlit quartz countertops.

The 'his' en-suite meanwhile, can be found to starboard and benefits from a steam shower with bench seat, backlit quartz surfaces and bidet head.

Skylounge for social occasions

SWEET ESCAPE photo 5

Guests can enjoy unwinding and entertaining here, thanks to a sleek and well-equipped bar and state-of-the-art- sound system.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 35

Ascending the staircase to the upper deck, guests will find the skylounge.

The design teams have opted for a zingy and bright colour palette in the skylounge, plumping for nectarine orange offset by seafoam blue.

In keeping with the owner's artistic eye, another original Britto piece can be found here; a quirky statuette of a martini glass, inscribed with the artists signature on the base.

A curved bar panelled in warm, polished wood hugs the starboard side of the space, with caramel leather barstools offering a lovely spot for an evening aperitif. With a state-of-the-art audio-visual system available, guests can take advantage of a quiet evening or an unbeatable entertainment scene.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 49

At night, the skylounge is particularly alluring thanks to soft, low lighting. As well as being a fabulous social hub,  the space is equally well-suited to family time and R&R in the evenings.

A convivial seating area can be found to port, complete with a squashy sofa, large armchairs and footstools. The seating can be arranged to face a 60-inch TV screen, which has access to over 1,000 films.

For the utmost convenience during the day and in the evenings, there is also a dayhead located just outside the skylounge.

Choice of alfresco areas

Stepping outside, guests will find numerous places to soak up the sun on board SWEET ESCAPE.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 6

Chief among them is the sundeck, which is sure to be the most sought-after spot for outdoor living. Here, guests can make full use of the 8-person jacuzzi, which occupies an elevated podium to provide the most incredible views over the surroundings.

The alluring vistas are enhanced by the turquoise colour theme that has been used across the sundeck, which includes optional Bimini shading for escaping the midday heat.

Guests can get comfortable on wraparound sofa seating, or stretch out on an inviting spread of sunpads and top up their tans. There is even a barbecue, which makes family cook-outs easily possible.

Guests can make full use of the 8-person jacuzzi, which occupies an elevated podium to provide the most incredible views.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 56

On the upper deck aft, guests will find the principal alfresco dining arrangement, which can comfortably seat up to 12 guests.

Adjoining it is a highly innovative seating area, split between sofa seating and a row of sun loungers. This space is perfect for an evening cocktail watching the setting sun with friends, but it also enjoys plenty of sun for days spent basking in the tropical heat.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 78

Another distinctive feature aboard the yacht is her foredeck seating area. While this space is often not used to the fullest on board motor yachts,  Sweet Escape has ensured the foredeck reaches its full potential.

The Portuguese bridge functions as a dining area, providing incredible views and a quiet escape from the other on-board areas. It features a semi-circular seating area, with optional shade and the capacity to connect to an audio system.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 60

The final alfresco spot can be found on the aft deck, which volunteers a sleek dining set-up for 12 and a fully-equipped wet bar.  The aft deck can be closed off with innovative Eisenglass according to the weather, and includes heating and air conditioning which means the space is totally temperature controlled.

This will come in particularly handy should guests want to enjoy a movie night alfresco, as the aft deck is home to a retractable HD TV with a movie library of 750 movies and surround sound for an immersive cinema-style experience.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 59

The aft deck is adjoined by a staircase which leads to the swim platform, with a passerelle for Med-style boarding.

This configuration ensures that the entire charter party can enjoy spending time together, whether they’re making the most out of the crystalline water or indulging in some down time on deck.

Enormous toy chest

SWEET ESCAPE photo 71

Sweet Escape is well-suited to her cruising grounds with an extensive locker of the latest water toys and accessories. In fact, for a 40m her toy chest is extensive.

The sea can be easily accessed via a large, newly-extended hydraulic swim platform with boarding ladder and rain shower. This unique feature ensures that older guests have no trouble getting in and out of the sea.

What's more, it means that toddlers and small children can paddle in the sea within close distance of the yacht, without the need for setting up an additional paddling pool.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 72

Once in the water, guests can enjoy Jet-Skis, a Flyboard, Seabobs, kayaks and paddleboards, to name a just a few of her expansive repertoire of accessories.

The yacht was recently fitted with a brand new slide, something that has proved highly popular with charter guests. The slide is remarkably quick to inflate, taking just 25 minutes, thus allowing for more time spent enjoying it rather than waiting for it to be ready for use.

On top of this, the yacht boasts an inflatable dock where guests can take part in yoga sessions or other relaxing activities. The dock also provides a great way to transport guests and toys on shore, with increased flexibility that ensures the toys don't get covered in sand.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 75

Guests can enjoy Jet-Skis, a Flyboard, Seabobs, kayaks and paddleboards.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 76

Golfing pros will be well-catered to aboard the motor yacht, thanks to a water golf set-up with tee-off pad and eco-golf balls. Those who want to try their hand at fishing will be able to, with access to a wide range of fishing equipment and gamefish chart.

As a final touch, the yacht also provides access to a Dji Maverick Pro drone camera and GoPro hero5, so guests can commemorate their memories of their time on board Sweet Escape.

Delectable dining

SWEET ESCAPE photo 79

Head Chef Thomas Rider is at the helm in the galley, and his wealth of experience is evident in every perfectly-prepared meal that he serves his guests.

Having graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2008, Chef Thomas has mastered the art of creating cuisine with signature flavours from around the globe.

Putting his guests' requirements at the forefront, his meals range from comforting classics to sensational gastronomic creations with inventive twists. Each meal is fresh, delicious and bursting with bite.

A green approach

SWEET ESCAPE photo 88

On top of these incredible features, Sweet Escape also has veritable eco-credentials. She has an on-board blackwater treatment centre, something that's rare for a yacht for her size, which allows the vessel to produce its own drinking water.

This greatly helps reduce the need for plastic bottles on board, and Sweet Escape's crew do their utmost to reduce their need for single-use plastic during charters. What's more, a low reflective film has been applied to the glass portions of the yacht, and insulation features throughout to greatly reduce the yacht's energy consumption.

SWEET ESCAPE photo 7

With her tailored interiors, never-ending list of on-board features and dedicated and friendly crew, Sweet Escape is the charter yacht of choice for guests looking to experience a superyacht vacation that goes beyond expectations.

Expect to disembark at the end of your charter feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and with memories to last a lifetime.
