However, the Murmansk Port Authority does not decide to take such risks. After all, the ship has not been out of service since 1977, from the very moment it was launched. Of course, it underwent preventive maintenance and was updated. But still, the ship, named after Claudia Yelanskaya, is no longer allowed to go on a big voyage. He was assigned another mission. Now it runs along the coast of the Kola Peninsula. And this route is not in vain called socially significant. After all, you simply cannot get to such polar settlements as Ostrovnoy or Chavanga in another way. If necessary, the ship can make longer routes - for example, to Arkhangelsk. In winter, an ice-type vessel makes a short voyage, and in summer a longer one.

How does the Klavdiya Yelanskaya motor ship run? Murmansk - Ostrovnoy - Murmansk - this is his route in the harsh season. And in the short northern summer, he makes forays into the White Sea and delivers passengers to hard-to-reach settlements on the Tersky coast. However, the route and schedule change almost every month. You can find them either on the official website of the Murmansk Shipping Company, ZATO Ostrovnoy, or at the bus station in the city of Murmansk. In the summer months and September 2017, such a route operates. From Murmansk, the ship will go to Kharlovka, then land at Ostrovnoy, the final destination of its winter voyage. But then the ship will proceed to Chavynga, Tetrino, Chapoma, Pyalitsa and Sosnovka. On the way back, he will again moor in Ostrovnoy to pick up passengers who want to get to the regional center.

In August, the ship will leave the port of Murmansk six times: on the 1st, 8th, 14th, 19th, 25th and 31st. In the first month of autumn, the number of flights will be reduced to four. The ship will leave Murmansk on September 6, 12, 18 and 22. All flights will start at 7pm. The next day at eleven in the morning the ship will arrive in Ostrovnoy. In warm weather, you can sit on the benches on the boat deck (the uppermost one), and in bad weather, walk along the glassed-in corridors of the promenade.

But still, it should be remembered that the Klavdiya Yelanskaya is a passenger ship, not a cruise liner. Therefore, meals on board are not included in the ticket price. Most of the local passengers, who often travel from Murmansk to Ostrovnoy and back, do not visit the restaurant and bar, they take all the food with them. But those tourists who looked into catering establishments on the ship write in reviews that they are fed well and on a budget. For 700-800 rubles a day, two people can get porridge with scrambled eggs for breakfast and enjoy freshly caught fish soup. Bar service is average. You can drink tea or something stronger. Don't count on speci alty treats like lattes, macchiatos, and alcoholic Mai Tais.

But here's what tourists who decide to go on a "cruise" along the Kola Peninsula need to know: to land on the shore, get acquainted with the life of the polar villages, pick mushrooms, just walk on solid ground, you need to order a pass! Many experts advise doing this: buy a ticket to Ostrovnoy, and buy a trip to Sosnovka on the spot. You just need to warn that you plan to return to Murmansk on the same Klavdiya Yelanskaya steamer and on the same flight. A return ticket can be purchased at the box office on board without any problems. Otherwise, you will be watching the beautiful northern nature only from the deck of the ship. Getting a pass is easy. It's free. In the column "purpose of trip" should indicate "tourist".

As a mechanical component linked to the movement, the bezel literally acts as the key to the programmable countdown, allowing it to be set and synchronised to the sequence of race start times. Complex in design, but simple in use, it is functionally beautiful.

A characteristic aesthetic

The Yacht-Master II is equipped with a new dial, and new hands that are characteristic of Rolex Professional models, enhancing legibility and sharpening its aesthetic appeal. The dial now features a triangular hour marker at 12 o’clock and a rectangular hour marker at 6 o’clock for more intuitive reading of the watch.

A luminescent disc on the hour hand clearly distinguishes it from the minute hand. The Yacht-Master II’s countdown can be programmed for a duration of between 1 and 10 minutes. The programming is memorized by the mechanism so that at a reset it returns to the previous setting. Once launched, the countdown can be synchronized on the fly to match the official race countdown.
