Most Sardinia yacht charters begin in the popular superyacht marina of Porto Cervo in the north west of the island or nearby Porto Rotondo, a slightly quieter marina compared to its illustrious neighbor. After a short stay here, popular charter itineraries tend to make a beeline north to the beautiful Maddalena Islands where the yacht can spend a day or two in a pretty sheltered anchorage while you and your guests take to the Carribean-blue waters for a spot of diving and snorkeling.

From here, the world’s your oyster. Sardinia has numerous must-see destinations and you will be hard-pushed to fit them all in. From the lush archipelagos of the north to the wild, untamed beaches found in the south west of the island, and from the glamorous superyacht havens on the north east coast where you can indulge your every whim to the rich historical treasures found in the south, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Another popular option is to set off from the Amalfi Coast on Italy’s mainland or Corsica in the north and then cruise down through the Bonifacio Strait. It’s simple enough to begin your superyacht vacation in a neighboring country before heading to Sardinia. For more advice please speak to your yacht charter broker .

Sample itineraries

Most yacht charters tend to finish in Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo. As well as the vibrant superyacht lifestyle, these places also offer their own bevy of beautiful beaches and scenic beauty, making these the perfect spots to end your memorable Sardina luxury yacht charter. Alternatively, for longer charters you can finish up in one of the neighboring destinations mentioned above. Speak with your yacht charter broker who can advise you further.

  • Cala Luna - A beautiful curve of sand with magical caves and astonishing clear blue waters abound in this paradisiacal setting. • Passagio della Pelosa - Often likened to a lagoon, this beautiful sheltered cove is considered by some as one of the best anchorages in the Mediterranean, where charterers will be dazzled by the Caribbean-blue waters reflecting the sandy seabed below. • Porto Liscia - A pretty peninsula of golden sand beach with cobalt-blue waters and scenic views. The anchorage is well protected and is a popular hangout for superyachts, which means it can get busy.

With its A-lister appeal, rich cultural history and bevy of world-class beaches, Sardinia is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean. Therefore, we advise you to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to secure your perfect yacht on your preferred dates. If you leave it too late, the selection of yachts at your disposal will be reduced and you may not be able to explore the destinations you have your heart set on. Plus, finding dates when everyone in your charter party is available can be tricky; the longer you leave it, the more challenging it will be.

High cliffs of Mediterranean coast,

Your yacht charter broker will also need plenty of time to tailor an itinerary to suit you, and enough time to book ahead for the nights you wish to spend in marinas. We recommend booking up to 3 months in advance to give your broker the optimum time to organize everything down to the last detail.

Sardinia Yacht Charter Q&A

Some important things to consider before booking your yacht;

  • Marinas tend to get quite busy during peak summer months, so you need to consider that when deciding on what night's you wish to spend in a slip. Ideally, find a yacht that is comfortable with ample leisure and entertainment facilities onboard.
  • Mistrals are quite common during the shoulder months of May and October, so check with your charter broker about the best anchorages and itineraries if you intend on traveling during these months.
  • You should also be aware that certain zones in Sardinia's waters are restricted to protect the sea grass, which may impact on where you anchor the yacht. This is something you can discuss with your yacht broker, or yacht captain when deciding on your itinerary.

Due to its popularity during the Mediterranean Season, there should be a wide selection of yachts to choose from, so there is sure to be something that suits both you and your budget.

Why not visit our yacht charter fleet page for a comprehensive look at all yachts available for charter around Sardinia .

Alternatively, you can reach out to your preferred yacht broker , who will be sure to help you find your perfect yacht and itinerary around the dates that suit both you and your guests.

The optimum time for yacht charters in Sardinia is between June and September, with average temperatures in the mid to high 20s, clear blue seas and endless days of glorious sunshine.

You should note that Sardinia's peak season is in July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and crowded marinas during these months.

Most Sardinia yacht charters begin in the glamorous superyacht marina of Porto Cervo in the north west of the island, with popular charter itineraries including the breathtaking Maddalena archipelago, the pretty sheltered anchorages and charming villages found along Sardinia's east coast  and the island's capital Cagliari, awash with historical treasures and rich cultural heritage.

The island is also renowned for its protected marine reserves and beautiful clear waters where snorkeling and diving are the favorite activities for yacht charters. where the yacht can spend a day or two in a pretty sheltered anchorage while you and your guests take to the Carribean-blue waters for a spot of diving and snorkeling.

Another option is to begin your yacht charter on Italy's west coast only a short hop across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Alternatively, charters can begin on the spellbindingly rugged island of Croatia in the north, separated only by a narrow strait famed for its sailing.

Once you have decided on your perfect yacht, your yacht broker will then draw up the necessary contract; a legally binding agreement between you and the owner of the yacht. At this point, based on the type of contract, you will be required to pay 50% of the cost of the yacht up front, with an additional 25-30% of this base rate to cover additional expenses you and your guests are expected to incur whilst on charter.

For more information about the costs of chartering a yacht, please read our helpful guide: Yacht Charter Costs Explained , which describes the fee structure in more detail.

Sardinia luxury yacht charter

Sardinia’s scalloped bays, shimmering sands and dramatic coastline have long been the playground of screen starlets, royalty, first families and the yachting elite. With some of the most exclusive harbours, hotels and restaurants in the western Mediterranean, a luxury yacht charter around the Italian island of Sardinia seamlessly combines sun-soaked glamour with timeless elegance and natural beauty. A Tyrrhenian Sea yacht charter around this island can happily balance partying in hotspots like Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda with an escape to secluded islands and jaw-dropping marine parks in places such as the Maddalena archipelago.

Sardinia yacht season and weather

Sardinia is hot and dry from May to October with the island enjoying an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Peak charter months are July and August, though June is also an excellent time to charter. August is particularly busy as most Italians take their holidays during this month.

Most rain falls between October and February, giving much of Sardinia a lush and verdant character. Visitors may well experience balmy summer days in March and April, though evenings will be cool during this time of year. The prevailing wind is north westerly, which can be particularly significant on the Strait of Bonifacio at the north of the island.

Sardinia superyacht charter itineraries

Historic Cagliari crowns Sardinia’s southern edge, and a litter of pretty coves and tiny villages then await. With vineyards inland and towns steeped in history, it is a region rich in cultural and gastronomic offerings. Yachts up to 55 metres LOA can drop anchor at Marina di Cagliari.

To the north, the superyacht haven of Porto Cervo is the central hub for the yachting elite that descend on Sardinia’s glittering Costa Smeralda each summer. Home to some of Europe’s most expensive residences and exclusive resorts, including the iconic Cala di Volpe hotel, Porto Cervo pulsates during the summer season and its bars and restaurants promise a great night ashore.

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is based in Porto Cervo and organises a packed yacht racing season throughout the summer. Highlights of the Mediterranean cruising calendar in Sardinia include the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, the Maxi Rolex Cup and Rolex Swan Cup – all lively events for sailing enthusiasts in Porto Cervo to get involved with. Yachts up to 120 metres can berth at the IGY marina in Port Cervo.

South of Porto Cervo, the resort village of Porto Rotondo’s turquoise waters, pristine beaches and charming piazzas will prove irresistible, and the port here has 25 berths for megayachts. Cruise 20 nautical miles and dock at Marina di Olbia (for yachts up to 80 metres) to discover the city’s café-lined squares. Further south explore the caves near Cala Luna, where the peaks of Gennargentu National Park provide a dramatic backdrop and the snorkelling is excellent. Nearby Cala Goloritzé is another natural wonder.

From the northern coast of the main island cruise about 10 nautical miles offshore toward the spectacular archipelago of La Maddalena. While away long, languid sunny days around Caprera, Spargi, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Budelli and Razzoli, and discover some of Sardinia’s best beaches and the island’s breathtaking lagoons. On Isola Maddalena, Cala Gavetta marina can host yachts up to 60 metres LOA, as can the marina of the Hotel Excelsior. On Capera, Porto Palma can accommodate yachts up to 40 metres.

Some luxury yacht charters will combine the magic of Sardinia with French-held Corsica – the islands lie in a north to south run, with Corsica sitting off Sardinia’s northerly tip.

On Corsica , visit the historic capital of Porto-Vecchio, discover the UNESCO wonders of the Lavezzi islands and marvel at the houses perched atop the windswept bluffs in Bonifacio before cruising south to the majestic La Maddelena archipelago.

yacht charter sardinia italy

Yachting in Sardinia is aimed at tourists who want to live a sustainable travel experience, aware of preserving the terrestrial and marine environment. It is, in fact, the alternative to the overbuilding that increasingly covers our coasts, also allowing us to reach those hidden corners of the coast, not reachable by land, but of great charm, while at the same time preserving their value. In 2018, after twenty years of activity in the charter sector, having had the vision of what could have been the growth prospects of the Eco-sustainable Nautical Tourism sector, the company decided to change gear and starting from the choice of a certifying body expert in the tourist accommodation sector (and not nautical) such as CSQA, revolutionizing its processes in an integral way and completely redesigning the operational model of the activity. It is also the first Nautical Hotel accommodation facility in the world to also have ISO 9001 certification.

The company today offers its customers the opportunity to find the right offer for their holiday by directly visiting the Yachting in Sardinia website where 8 different offers are available every day, valid only for 24 hours, for a fleet of boats that are completely similar. and throughout to floating and completely eco-sustainable housing units, equipped with all comforts and divided into categories (exclusive, comfort and standard). The customer on board receives 24-hour assistance, also thanks to the SeaTutor monitoring system, and can count on a dedicated Service Operator, ready to respond to any needs of the guest crew, giving the customer the opportunity to experience the sea in total safety.

Group Y has been investing for years in the technical set-up of its boats: from the massive use of photovoltaics, to the elimination of endothermic generators, from the use of double alternators combined with automotive-derived battery packs, to the use of watermakers, from use of purifiers, up to the revolutionary "zero" impact underwater protective coating: the SeaProtector, which replaces traditional antifouling, not only improving the performance of the hull by reducing fuel consumption, but, being totally free of biocides toxic, avoid releasing any type of harmful substance into the water.

Sailing Qualifications

To skipper a bareboat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC) . For charters in Greece, you must now have the ICC certificate . You must also be assisted by at least one competent crew member over the age of 18.

The port authorities in Greece are now insisting on one of the following practical certificates: RYA ICC (International Certificate of Competence), RYA Coastal, RYA Yachtmaster, ASA IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) or the IYT (International Yacht Training) Passport. If you hold an RYA Day Skipper or ASA104 it will no longer be accepted and you need to obtain either an ICC or IPC from the corresponding issuing body (RYA or ASA). If your RYA Coastal/Yachtmaster or ASA105/106 certificate is more than 12 years old and does not have a photo ID, then we would also strongly advise applying for an ICC or IPC. If you are a member of the RYA or ASA, you may qualify for a discount or free certificate, otherwise, you will have to pay. The approximate cost is £50. Please use this link - RYA application for the ICC or ASA application for the IPC.

For charters in Croatia, Malta and the Canaries , at least one member of the crew or the skipper will also need a VHF licence .

RYA qualifications can be obtained by RYA sailing schools in the UK or alternatively choose from one of our overseas centres in Gibraltar, Greece or Turkey .

For  Seychelles,  the local authorities require an ICC for the skipper of a bareboat or flotilla yacht charter.

For Caribbean and Tropical charters, formal qualifications are not compulsory, however, you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one competent crew . A brief sailing resume should be provided to outline your experience.

For Thailand A Day Skipper qualification is required as a minimum and you must have at least 3 weeks of skippering experience prior to your charter. A VHF qualification is compulsory.

If you don't hold the relevant qualifications then why not add a skipper ?

Yacht Charter & Sailing Holidays in Sardinia

Yacht charter in Sardinia starts from Marina di Portisco on the chic Costa Smeralda, "the Emerald Coast", an area buzzing with designer shopping, piazzas and stunning views.

Enjoy a sailing holiday on Sardinia's Costa Smerelda, "the Emerald Coast", famous for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and jet set lifestyle.

Sail north into the La Maddelena National Park, a marine park scattered with islands and sandy beaches, including the famous pink beach "spiaggia rosa" on Budelli. The seven main islands offer peaceful anchorages, although there is a small overnighting charge for the mooring buoys provided by the park authority. Visit the delightful harbour at La Maddelana, a fishing village with harbourside restaurants, although in peak season the small harbour is very crowded.

Combine the flavours of Italy and France on this sailing holiday. Bonifacio on the French island of Corsica is within easy reach and the dramatic entrance through the narrow opening in the cliff, the “Bocche di Bonifacio”, is not be missed.

Suggested Sailing Itineraries

1 week sardinia bareboat,  day 1 : portisco.

Portisco lies on the jet set Costa Smeralda ("Emerald Coast"), an area buzzing with designer shopping, piazzas and stunning views.

 Day 2 : Cannigione (15nm)

A sheltered harbour with good seafood restaurants. If you keep going along the Caprera coast, the very deep bay of Porto Palma offers the best sheltered free mooring in the area. Here you can safely stay the night whatever the wind.

 DAY 3 : La Maddelena (6nm)

Visit a couple of small bays in S.Stefano and on the mainland, then sail to La Maddalena harbour on the main island of the Archipelago. La Maddelena is a traditional fishing harbour, picturesque and bustling, but sometimes in peak season the small harbour is very crowded, so you may have to overnight in Palau on the mainland.

 DAY 4 : Lavezzi (15nm)

A marine park with fabulous snorkelling and diving.

 DAY 5 : Bonifacio (21nm)

Bonifacio is on the south coast of Corsica. A dramatic entrance through the cliffs opens into a beautiful bay with anchorages and moorings on the town quay.

 DAY 6 : Porto Massimo (16nm)

A small harbour on the north eastern coast of La Maddelena.

 DAY 7 : Portisco (18nm)

As a crew, we were pleasantly surprised by the manageable sailing distances between a range of daytime and overnight anchorages and ports, which easily allows for itineraries taking in multiple stops or covering some longer passages.

While it is a more expensive destination compared with Greece, for example, it is definitely rewarding for those looking for a challenge and a change. A week is never enough to explore everything on offer in this region but the amount you can sail and see in that time makes this a perfect destination to combine a week’s charter with a week onshore relaxing, biking, or kitesurfing, all popular options for twin-centre holidays in Sardinia.

Sardinia Sailing Journal

Day 1 - SATURDAY - Arrival in Portisco

The taxi from Olbia airport to Marina di Portisco was about €55 for two people with luggage and took 20 minutes. There is provisioning in the marina minimarket, this is small but has a reasonable selection to stock up including speciality items for BBQ and a fantastic deli (as to be expected in Italy). The fresh fruit & veg selection was not great but this may be due to arriving late on a Saturday afternoon. It is also quite expensive as there is no other option nearby and there are no niche items eg. gluten-free, vegan etc. There is no delivery service but you can easily push the trolley back to the boat. I would probably recommend pre-provisioning for a large crew or late arrival.

After a busy day, there are two restaurants in the marina plus some snack bars/cafes. Food is reasonably priced and you can always just have a pizza for the cheap option!

SATURDAY - Arrival in Portisco

Day 2 - Sunday

Heading South! The full and thorough area briefing by Sergio on Sunday morning is not to be missed. Full of great local information about procedures, safe harbours, and hazards. Due to the strong winds north of the harbour on our first day, we decided to head south and take it easy. Moresca (lunch stop)

This was a pretty little bay but a bit too close to a fish farm and also busy with local “day boats” from Olbia because of the weekend.

Tavolara (overnight)

A great anchorage with lots of space, a nice sandy beach and impressive scenery. There are mooring buoys but these are for the stylish Italian speed boats so are expensive and unnecessary, holding is good for anchoring and free-swinging. I would suggest avoiding the weekends as you get a lot of day trip boats from Olbia, but they usually leave between 5-7 pm so it is very relaxing overnight. Two restaurants in the bay (one casual, one upmarket), most of their trade comes from the day trip people at lunchtime so they are not always open for dinner in the low season but if there are enough yachts they will.

Sunday

Day 3 - Monday

Exploring La Maddalena

Setting off early we navigated around the eastern end of Tavolara to keep a clear heading north towards La Maddalena National Park. The permit for which is easily purchased in advance online. We perused many of the potential stops on route to our final destination for the evening.

Porto Cevro – Pop in

This is a very tight and exclusive marina for upmarket superyachts and elegant classic vessels. There wasn’t much going on in the early season but I am sure the atmosphere in July & August is great if you are looking for a night out in the Monaco of Italy. You can also moor on the quay or floating pontoon in nearby Porto Vecchio for a quieter (and cheaper) night.

Caprera, Porto Palma

This is a very "nice" bay, nothing overly special but the approach is easy without too many hazards, the water is good for swimming and there is lots of space and it is well protected from nearly all wind directions. You can take a buoy or anchor.

Cala di Villa marina, San Stefano

This is a tricky rocky little bay but it offers great shelter and scenery if you can get a space, it is suitable for lunch or overnight. The sculpture of Garibaldi in the rockface on the cliff is not to be missed!

Maddalena Town, Maddalena Island

This looked very large and busy so we avoided it as we were already fully stocked with food and water so there was no need for a pit-stop yet. It would be great if you need shelter as there are lots of harbour options with 4-5 different marinas/quays!

Palau, Sardinia  – this looks cute from a distance, not as large as Maddalena town but still with a good number of berths and is very close/accessible for an overnight if you are struggling to get in elsewhere.

Cala Corsara, Spargi Island

At the South end of the island, this is a great lunch stop or overnight anchorage with a great beach and some fantastic scenery. All of the “day boats” and motor yachts leave around 5-6 pm when it becomes very peaceful and the local pigs frolic on the beach!

Monday

Day 4 - TUESDAY

Fantastic sailing to Bonifacio, Corsica  The journey from La Maddalena park area to the southern tip of Corsica is a sailor’s blue moon with the right angle and amount of wind for a perfect passage. We set off first thing and arrived by lunch to enjoy the afternoon sightseeing.

Bonifacio is incredible and definitely worth a visit. You should definitely pre-book a mooring online in advance (a few days should be sufficient) as we nearly struggled to get a space in May. The cost with power and water was approximately €70 for a 38ft monohull.

There is plenty to do, see, eat and drink in town. You can stock up on French pastries and wine but you will need to break out your French! When it's warm I recommend catching the tourist train up the hill into town and then walking back down later. There are several walking trails around the down with fantastic views so if you prefer exercise then definitely take a stroll out of town.

TUESDAY

Day 5 - WEDNESDAY

Lavezzi Island, France  We left Bonifacio late and full of croissants so opted for an easy afternoon and overnight anchorage in nearby Lavezzi island en route back to Italian waters. While from a distance this island does not appear to offer enough shelter overnight, once inside the bay we were well-protected and comfortable. Navigation around the many rocks is a little hair-raising but quite manageable with a good look-out and there is plenty of space and good holding. As usual, the day boats disappear before sunset leaving just sailors and seagulls.

WEDNESDAY

Day 6 - THURSDAY

Cala Coticcio & Cala Portese Fantastic sailing again across the straits of Bonifacio, downwind this time, as we watched on in awe as a regatta of high-performance and classic sailing vessels steamed past us with ease. Stopping at Cala Coticcio for lunch is one of the most popular beaches in the Maddalena Archipelago. It is a gorgeous spot but does get quite busy and is not great for an overnight anchorage as the hills create some interesting wind gusts throughout the evening and overnight as the temperature changes. Heading just south to Cala Portese is the popular option recommended.

THURSDAY

Day 7 - FRIDAY

Cala do Volpe & Portisco Marina  We spent a lazy final day ambling down the Sardinian coastline and anchoring for lunch in Cala di Volpe, a huge bay with long beaches and a perfect pit-stop before returning to Portisco marina for check-out and departure.

FRIDAY

SAILING WITH FRIENDS!

What better way to mark a special birthday than sailing with a group of  your closest friends.  We could not have chosen a more stunning, glamorous destination.  Sailing from Sardinia with Boomerang Charter over to Corsica and back.

This heady mix of uniquely Sardinian & Corsican cultur e ,  language, wine and food delivered a celebration beyond our expectations.

Incredibly in eight years of sailing this was the most amount of time we have spent under sail covering149 miles and broke 8.8 knots!

SAILING WITH FRIENDS!

Day 1 - Portisco

A short 20 mins transfer from Olbia airport to the base at Portisco and straight onboard  our Sun Odyssey 490 ‘Aurora’.

It is for good reason that the Boomerang team are consistently one of our top rated fleets in mediterranean.

‘Aurora’, as we would expect, was in immaculate condition.  Boomerang maintain and clean their yachts to the highest standards but it is the thoughtful touches they provide that sets them apart especially for a special occasion.  The abundant fruit basket and sparkling wine were very much appreciated.

A friendly and thorough show around the yacht and a briefing of the area was given by Sergio; useful tips, highlights and hazards all pointed out.

Our pre-provisioning was delivered by Gusto Cambusa.  As a largish crew it was a good idea to have the heavier items brought straight to the yacht.  A top up shop was then required in the adequate supermarket within the marina to top up with fresh fruits, salads, deli meats and cheeses.

Some obligatory bunting strung around the cockpit for the birthday boy ! and then we were lucky to be able to take advantage of our   early embarkation  a nd set sail .

All in all an early morning flight and a long day so we moored up not far away from Portisco and cooked a lovely meal onboard.  Let’s get the party started.

Portisco

Day 2 - Arzachena Bay

Early morning and the weather looks to be fair for our  first dip in the ocean followed by a hearty breakfast

The plan had been to sail to the north side of the Maddalena National Park however a squall mid passage caused us to double back.

These things happen and we found shelter in ‘Arzachena Bay’ with its impressive Neptune sculpture where we were quickly joined by dolphins to lift our spirits

There is a nice restaurant here which looked to be p opular  despite the weather but we decided to cook onboard and make our own fun.

Arzachena Bay

Day 3 - Maddalena National Park

A beautiful sunny day to wake up in the wonderful Maddalena National Park is nestled between Sardinia and Corsica.

We made a brief stop at Gavetti Marina to enjoy a wander around the so pretty, venetian style streets with pastel coloured buildings.   We enjoyed b outique style shopping  and there were some wonderful bars and restaurants.  There is also an excellent fish market right in the marina and a whopping supermarket just on the outskirts of the town.

Skipper Tim was happy that we finally managed to secure a basil plant for the cockpit.

Back on track we had a fun afternoon at Cala G Marino, a beautiful bay between Isola Razelli and Budelli. Paddleboarding, diving competitions, water hammocks and a friendly visiting Seagull.

While it is necessary to obtain a permit to visit the Madalenas in mid and high season. During our visit in early June it was not possible to advance purchase one and the authorities, although visible, did not charge us.

Like many people we had been under the impression that this exclusive area,   playground of the rich & famous ,  would be pricey and this is undoubtedly true in the high season. However, by eating onboard (not every night !) and choosing our moorings carefully we managed to avoid costly marina fees and permits.

It was so lovely here we decided to stay overnight. More great food and hilarity and a stunning full moon.

Maddalena National Park

Day 4 - Corsica

And we head to Corsica !

Up and coming captain Gus was put through his skipper skills today! Sailed to Cala di Zeri on Ile Cavello for lunch and afternoon anchorage.  An equally stunning location with fabulous holiday homes discreetly nestled amongst the rock face.

Lots of relaxing and swimming.  As the afternoon progressed a flotilla of jet skis came through to dramatic effect.

Our overnight anchorage at Baie de Rondinara.  There is a restaurant here that is open until around 6 o’clock. In the mornings they also provide french pastries for breakfast - mouth watering pain au chocolat, pain almond and croissant; all at such reasonable prices it would be rude not to!

Corsica

Day 5 - Bonifacio

Bonifacio! has to be high up the bucket list of destinations for any sailor and a place I have been longing to visit for many years.

An epic sail along the rugged coastline escorted by pods of dolphins, to the jaw dropping cut in the cliffs where the old town teeters above and leads to the historic town of Bonafacio.  The entrance only visible when you are right on top of it winds it way  i nto this charming, bustling harbour.

Here you will find yourself   neighbours with some of the world's largest superyachts.  Watching ‘‘Cocoa Bean’ mooring at the far end of the harbour with her crew of around 25 was a sight to behold.

Being early June we paid 85€ for our 49 footer which was pretty reasonable   whilst this is likely to be more in the high season i s  worth every euro and  d efinitely not to be missed.

Climb the steep steps up to the old town to experience incredible views where you will find} plenty o f  restaurants and bistro’s offering delicious french cuisine; corsican mussels, wild boar (sanglier) followed by an icecream down at the harbour to finish off the evening nicely.

Bonifacio

Day 6 - Spargi and La Maddelena

The next morning some of the crew walked up to the cliff top again to take one of the nature trails - the left hand fork this time away from the town   rewards you with   unbelievable views of the ocean.

A good day sailing to Isola Spargi, Cala d’Alga; a relaxing lunch onboard and then an afternoon swim ashore.  We were surprised  and  delighted to see a wild boar frollicking on the sands.

We then headed back to La Maddelena to explore this delightful town and have the obligatory team pizza night. It’s worth booking Gavatta Marina ahead of your visit as it is understandably popular, we hadn’t but found a  new ish marina ‘di Punta Nera’  just a short walk over the hill into the main town.

The   marina crew  were very friendly and charged just €60   and the   small bar serving sundowners and snacks was our perfect pre supper Sundowner spot.   For a group meal we can highly recommend the rustic pizzas and jugs of very good house red wine at Il Curciareddhi - simple but delicious and well set up for larger groups.

Spargi and La Maddelena

Day 7 - Back to Portisco

A good day under sail  back to Portisco excellent winds - 8.8 knots made it good fun for all of us . Just a couple of yachts ahead of us on the fuel pontoon then a guide was sent to bring us back to the Boomerang jetty.

Back to Portisco

Day 8 - Farewell

Our return flight was mid afternoon. The lovely Boomerang staff were happy for luggage to be left and we were given directions to the nearest beach, a short stroll over a hill. We whiled away a few hours at the f a bulous beach bar enjoying a leisurely brunch before heading back to say farewell to o ur  great f riends  at the base and jump in our minibus transfer back to Olbia Airport.

 Arrivederci  ( and  A u Revoir! )

Sardinia

Sardinia Yacht Charters

Explore the romantic Sardinia on your luxury yacht charter. A wild piece of Mediterranean history, Sardinia is steeped in a prehistoric past, home to more than four million sheep, and visited for its inherent culture, idyllic beaches, and eccentric local inhabitants.

Regarded for its unique landscape – like lush, alpine forests bordering stark-white beaches, and grandiose mountains towering over hidden bays – Sardinia is as beautiful as it is puzzling so there is no wonder why it is such a popular yacht charter destination.

With tradition gracing everything from the inhabitants’ customs to its architecture, Sardinia is scattered with more than 7000 Bronze Age towers, settlements, and tombs. It hosts a series of festivals, like the Barbagia’s carnival parade and S’Ardia horse race, two events believed to rid the area of winter demons and defy death, respectively. With an adventure waiting at every turn, Sardinia invites yacht charter guests to take an evening hike through its Tiscali’s nuraghic ruins, climb the limestone cliffs of Cala Luna, or dive to see Roman ruins submerged in the sea below – all promise a taste of true Sardinia.

Sardinia Yacht Charters – Things To Do & See

Sardinia yacht charters

Next time you’re craving an adventure, head to Sardinia and visit the spots below for a yacht charter adventure you won’t soon forget:

Cagliari The polar opposite of the country it calls home, Cagliari is a beautiful seaside city characterized by golden palaces, the rocky “Il Castelo” fortress, Roman ruins, and historic churches. Take in the colorful views from Il Castello, and down below, you’ll see Vespas zooming through neighborhoods, packed cafes, and locals wandering along the coastal city’s idyllic waterfront.

Porto Cervo A combination of Greek, African, Spanish, and Italian architecture, the wealthy streets of Porto Cervo paint a unique picture of the Mediterranean. The city’s plain, but pristine, facade is made more obvious by the fact that it boasts only a few inhabitants; but its coastal scenery offers a snapshot of natural beauty that only the Mediterranean could provide.

Stintino Once a forgotten fishing village, the resort-town of Stintino, today, caters to old-school fishermen and high-end yachters alike. While the majority of its inhabitants are descendants of the 45 families who established Stintino in the late 1800s, it is frequently filled with yacht charter guests who come to see its charming, pastel-colored neighborhoods.

Alghero Regarded as one of Sardinia’s most enchanting Medieval cities, Alghero has become one of the area’s most popular international yacht charter destinations. Just steps away from the idyllic Riviera del Corallo, Spanish-infused Alghero, which has street signs written in both Italian and Catalan, has a personality all of its own.

Carloforte A typical Mediterranean village, Carloforte includes serene palaces and government buildings, packed cafes, and an enchanting, palm-lined waterfront. A semicircle of cream-colored, majestic buildings climbs its sloped hillside, while quaint, cobblestone streets – filled with locals wandering to grab a sunset aperitif – wind through its central town.

Costa Verde Stretching from Capo Pecora to Torre Dei Corsari, Sardinia’s greatest stretch of untamed coast, Costa Verde, is named for the green “macchia,” or Mediterranean scrub, that drapes its mountainous terrain. Given its natural beauty, Costa Verde is perfect for a scenic drive, or a relaxing afternoon tanning on one of its spectacular beaches.

Neptune’s Grotto Located just a short drive from Alghero, Neptune’s Grotto is a beautiful stalactite cave that has been made famous by the movie, “Island of Mutations.” First discovered in the 18th century by local fishermen, this now-popular tourist attraction was named after the Roman god of the sea, Neptune.

There is evidence that Sardinia was first occupied by Man as long as 100,000 years ago. Could the island be the 'real Atlantis'? There are a lot of references in the tale of the city consumed by the sea that matches the island, and once more a Sardinian civilisation called the Nuragic people came to play an important role in Mediterranean trade for several centuries, around 1800 years BC.

The island has been subject to domination by different empires from the Byzantines to the Spanish and now, Italy. Each and every age of history has left its mark on Sardinia so though fiercely Catholic you will see references to local pages traditions in the different festivals that happen every year. From nearby Corsica Napoleon Bonaparte wanted Sardinia but the naval and land forces of Europe fended them off. You never know - you may sit in a restaurant once enjoyed by Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson himself!

There is even a language - Sardo - that only Sardinian people speak. The island nation is aware of its current and past ownership by different countries but still very much one of its own.

Hire a yacht in Sardinia to explore this diverse and unique nation on a sailing holiday. There is so much to explore and absorb from its beaches on the east coast to the deep local culture throughout that you may well come back home wanting for more!

Hiring A Yacht In Sardinia

Hiring a yacht in Sardinia follows that of any Italian yacht charter. There is very little to worry about, as long as you have any paperwork you need to hand. If on a bareboat charter you will need your sailing certificates, as well as passport and a credit card/charter insurance policy to hand to cover the legal requirements of a Sardinia yacht charter.

If you are on a luxury yacht charter with a skipper or crew aboard then you just need to worry about getting to the dock!

Whether bareboat or skippered yacht charter you then leave the marina and off you go.

Expect beautiful, quiet, protected natural parks and peaceful beaches with few people around. Don't expect nightclubs full of people on chemicals gyrating to loud music until dawn. Expect fine Italian food and booze that will tickle the tastebuds - enjoy a little too much but don't expect large numbers of 18-year-olds competing to cause themselves liver damage.

The locals welcome yacht charter groups, but it is plain that the nation's primary economy - agriculture, fisheries and viticulture - are of more interest to them than hordes of tourists tramping over their beautiful land. Respect them and they will welcome you warmly. The world adapts to Sardinian life - never in the fast lane but always deeply cultured, warm and genuine.

Getting to the islands

There are direct flights from several airports in the UK and Europe. Let's look at the three main airports:

Cagliari: This is the capital of Sardinia and the international airport serves the south of the island.

Olbia: Serving the Costa Smeralda and north coast of Sardinia with its fine beaches, boutiques, fine dining and laid back vibe. There are a number of direct flights from Italian airports to Olbia too.

Alghero: This smaller international airport has direct flights from several European countries and is great for accessing the Costa Smeralda and west coast with its high cliffs and secluded anchorages.

Ferries from Civitavecchia: There are 38 sailings a day from Civitavecchia on Italy's west coast (not far from Rome). These serve the main cities of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia as well as a number of smaller towns on the island. In theory, you could drive to Italy and then take a car ferry or fly to Rome and go by bus and on foot to the island.

Best Areas To Charter

Emerald coast.

Almost every stereotype of island life on the Mediterranean can be found here. Beautiful natural harbours like the Cala di Volpe, stunning islets such as the Isola de Cappuccini, dominated by its abandoned Franciscan convent, and churches like the Stella Maris will astound you as you pause and wander this epicentre of luxury holidays.

Maddalena island group

Sailing the Maddalena islands is challenging as, as well as the 60 islands in the La Maddalena archipelago there are an awful lot of rocks! On the Bonifacio Strait, the sailing can be very exciting too. That said with just one island - Maddalena Island - inhabited this is a chance for deep solitude and connection with nature. The views will awe you and the silence will reach deep into you. Don't miss the Spiaggia Rosa - the famous pink beach of Bocelli.

Most people fly or take a ferry into Olbia and don't really pause to appreciate the town. A laid back town that was occupied long before the Romans arrived, it has a lot to take in. Do visit the archaeological museum, the Chiesa di San Paolo church and the Basilica Minore di San Simplicio - the three main tourist attractions. The vibe is more why people visit - the food, the fine alcohol and a chance to forget the world outside.

Porto Pozzo

Typically Sardinian, a yacht charter along the north coast to the fishing village of Porto Pozzo will be a worthwhile pause on your trip around the island. There's much to absorb but this is no buzzing metropolitan centre. You will get fish so fresh it was swimming just hours before it reaches your plate. Taste the locally made ice cream! Enjoy the natural world of the islands nearby.

On an island renowned for its snorkelling and scuba diving, Cannigione is widely held as one of the best villages for this even for Sardinia. There is a commercial fishing port - this means excellent fish in the restaurants - and the beach is astounding.

On the NE Costa Smeralda, Portisco has a large marina and is more town than a village. You may well charter a yacht direct from Portisco, but it is worthy of a pause in its own right, particularly Porto Rotondo - perhaps the last gulp of town life before disappearing into a world of quiet villages and deserted anchorages! The white sandy beach is a great place to catch the sun while the bars and restaurants will get your stomach juices flowing.

Porto Cervo

Unlike many sleepy backwater destinations in Sardinia, this town has a buzz about it - if you have the cash to enjoy it! Buzzy nightspots where you can party all night and shop until you drop with the ladies who lunch at the top end boutiques and restaurants serving the best Sardinian cuisine. Perhaps lie back and relax at a luxury spa too? Once one of the top destinations of the billionaire elite, Porto Cervo still struts its stuff today and accessible directly from Olbia airport now.

Before you absorb yourself into the deep history of this important Mediterranean trading port of the past, do pop into Neptune's Grotto sea cave. That will give you a taste of the natural history of Alghero before you absorb yourself in a town that has relics of empires long into the past. Explore on foot or by bike.

Arriving in (or departing from) Marina Piccola, you will see the capital of Sardinia as sailors have done for centuries - through the marina itself is very modern! Cagliari is a small city in southern Sardinia with 150,000 citizens but the biggest city on the island. If beaches are your thing, drop by the five-mile (8km) long Poetto Beach where you are sure to find a big space to yourself. The history? This goes right back to pre-history so you will be spoiled to death as you explore it!

On the Isola di San Pietro, around four miles off the SW coast of Sardinia, Carloforte is the only urban centre on the island with some 5,000 lucky residents calling it home. Unlike Sardinia's Sardo, the locals speak Ligurian, a language that is part European and part Tunisian. It started out as a fishing village but its quaint charms draw tourists from all over. Very much one of those dialled backstops on a yacht charter, you will be enchanted as you explore this beautiful village.

Best Towns To Charter A Yacht In Sardinia

Cannigione on the northern coast of the island has a number of marinas from which to hire a boat. You can access it via Olbia airport or the ferry terminal at Olbia. Great for exploring the Emerald Coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Olbia is one of the busiest transit towns in Sardinia with a ferry port and an airport. It also has a number of marinas from which you can set off to explore the NW and NE of Sardinia.

Porto Cervo is a party town with a large marina to launch your trip from. It has a number of superyacht berths so if that's your chosen means of exploring this fine island, could well be your departure point. Again, this is close to Olbia airport.

Cagliari on the south coast of Sardinia has its own airport and ferry port with links to mainland Italy. The capital of Sardinia, it is the nearest thing to a cosmopolitan centre you're likely to find on the island! There are several marinas to depart from, easily accessible by taxi or bus from the airport.

Types Of Yachts To Hire

Where it comes to chartering you can hire a motorboat, a monohull sailing yacht, catamaran , Superyacht or Luxury Yacht charter and ribs or day boats. Each has their benefits.

What better way to see this great island than from the bridge of a motor yacht with your friends and family relaxing in the sunshine as you blast along? Often with en suite bathrooms and ample saloon, a motorboat can be a most enjoyable way of seeing this historic island in all its glory.

You will not be the only superyacht on Sardinian waters by any means. You never know - you may be able to do some networking with some of your comfortably off fellows on other boats! Fully crewed and coming in a variety of sizes from large to extremely large, you will find yourself pampered and rested as you see the very best that the island has to offer.

Luxury Charter Yacht

Like superyachts, these will often come with a skipper and perhaps crew but can be sailed on your own too. You'll get what you pay for including perhaps a smaller water tender or toy for exploring those nooks and crannies of the coast and islands of Sardinia.

Still at the luxury end of yachting, and sometimes with sails or without, catamarans are great for getting close into shore thanks to their shallow drafts. That means you can have a barbecue, swim and lie on the beach or rocks all with the boat a stone's throw away... They often have big spaces for sunbathing and the sailing catamarans have a good lick of speed on a reach too!

Monohull sailing yacht

Though the smallest come in at a good budget price, monohull sailing yachts aren't all heeling on a wet beat! Often very comfortable in their own right, monohull yachts can be very fun to sail on waters that are renowned for their excellent sailing. Isn't the journey meant to be as exciting as the destination itself?

Skippered Yacht charter or Bareboat?

Where it comes to a Sardinia yacht charter you have two choices - bareboat hire or skippered yacht charter. Both have their own advantages.

Skippered charter

You don't need any sailing qualifications to have a skippered yacht charter. That could mean you have no sailing experience at all or you could just lack the confidence to sail your family and friends yourself.

Another advantage of a skippered yacht charter is that you will benefit from the local experience and knowledge of people who know these waters like the backs of their hands and should be able to show you things non-locals wouldn't risk or even know about.

Bareboat yacht charter

Perhaps chained to your desk for the last six months you have dreamed of cutting loose and being your own person, in charge of your own journey and destinations with just your family, friends and sealife for the company? You will need sailing qualifications (read below) but then can cut loose and experience the world under your own steam wherever you want...

Do you need a licence to charter in Sardinia?

If you want to bareboat charter you will need an approved boating qualification, below is a list of relevant qualifications:

International Certificate of Competence (ICC): Standard European Qualification for bareboat sailing

ASA 104 Bareboat sailing certificate : The American Sailing Associations skipper minimum qualification for hiring bareboat yachts

RYA: The Royal Yachting Association's qualifications (minimum day skipper level) is necessary for bareboat charter hire, it's also worthwhile seeing do you need to have done a VHF radio course, as well as some boat owners, will require this.

There are also many other European national boating qualifications that are accepted here too. It's worthwhile checking these details before hiring.

If you want a skippered boat rental as a charter yacht then you don't need any sailing certification at all, you just turn up and off you go.

Best Times To Hire

Sardinia has some of the best sailings on the Mediterranean year-round. The season is March - September, and outside of the school holidays, you can enjoy sailing at a good price. In late September the seas are still warm yet it is cooler than the baking temperatures of August too.

July and August are the peak sailing season. This will mean marinas are more expensive and the anchorages are crowded. The nightspots and restaurants will be full, and for those for whom that is a draw, this will be the best time of year.

The Climate

Mistral (Maestrale): Generally dying off to excellent sailing winds come March and picking up again in September, this NW wind comes from the French Alps and is the main wind of winter. It can be quite fierce and can pop its head up at any time of the year.

Libeccio: This SW wind tends to be the wind of summer, heating the air and getting feisty through the Bocche di Bonifacio between Sardinia and Corsica. It is dominant on the west coast of the island.

The Sirocco is a humid wind blowing from the deserts of North Africa. This is dry until it crosses the Mediterranean but the heat draws in moisture so expect a lot of humidity.

Yes, yacht hire in Sardinia is legal. It is one of the best ways to appreciate the island to its full too!

There is usually a boat that will meet every budget to rent in Sardinia. Whether a small RIB to explore a bay, a luxury yacht to see the islands in style, or partying about a multimillion Euro superyacht, you will find a vessel to rent with Borrow A Boat you can afford.

Do you have the qualifications and experience? If not you can take a skippered yacht charter or gulet. You will need to passage plan and victual in the normal way on a bareboat charter. Consider which nights you want at anchor and which you want in port - and budget accordingly.

March to September is the main sailing season. July to August are the busiest and most expensive. If your kids don't need you at home, September can be the best time of year owing to price, warmth and peace and quiet!

You will normally pay 50% upfront ahead of taking on the yacht charter. You will pay the balance on arrival. In addition you will normally pay a refundable security deposit on your credit card - though this can be covered with a yacht charter insurance policy.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to/are on a mooring you will be able to phone a number given by the yacht charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter you want to book and where do you want to go. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks lile the weather can be cool as well as warm

If you are coming from within the European Union you will not normally have to have a visa. If you are coming to Sardinia from outside, from many English speaking countries you will be allowed in on a standard tourist waiver or visa. If in doubt contact your Italian Embassy.

We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.

We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.

We have the highest number of verified and vetted boats available on the market.

About Sardinia

Why is Sardinia a good sailing destination?

With its enchanting mix of crystal-clear waters, dramatic landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture, Sardinia makes for an unrivaled sailing destination, and Yachting.Rent is here to help you discover why.

Sardinia’s coastline is one of the most varied and spectacular in the Mediterranean. The island is known for its stunning array of secluded coves, pristine beaches, and charming harbors. The famous Costa Smeralda, or ‘Emerald Coast’, is renowned for its turquoise waters and beautiful sandy beaches, while the archipelago of La Maddalena boasts some of the best anchorages in the region.

The island’s winds also make for exciting sailing. The mistral wind from the northwest is most common and offers a consistent breeze for great sailing, while the thermal winds in the summer make for calm and relaxing cruises. Whether you’re an experienced sailor looking for an adventurous journey or a novice seeking a tranquil sailing holiday, Sardinia’s waters cater to all.

But the delights of Sardinia are not just restricted to its waters. Step ashore and explore the island’s diverse landscapes, from rugged mountains to dense forests and tranquil lagoons. The island is also steeped in history, with numerous archaeological sites to discover, including the ancient stone towers known as nuraghi.

Sardinian culture is as captivating as its landscapes. The island boasts a unique culinary scene, featuring local specialties such as bottarga, pecorino cheese, and mirto, a berry liquor. The local festivals, or ‘sagre’, offer another glimpse into Sardinian traditions and are a must-visit.

With Yachting.Rent, exploring the charms of Sardinia has never been easier. Experience the beauty of this extraordinary island at your own pace, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Sardinia

At Yachting.Rent, we are passionate about helping you experience the thrill and beauty of sailing in Sardinia, one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Offering a stunning combination of crystal-clear waters, breathtaking landscapes, and a rich history, it is a paradise for sailing enthusiasts. The question is, should you choose a sailing boat or a catamaran for your journey?

Sailing Boats Sailing boats offer an unparalleled sense of tradition and connection with the sea. With their sleek design and powerful performance, they are perfect for those seeking an authentic, hands-on sailing experience. Sailing boats are ideal for navigating through Sardinia’s smaller bays and harbors, and offer a more exhilarating ride when the wind picks up.

Catamarans Catamarans, with their dual-hull design, provide a unique blend of space, stability, and speed. They are an excellent choice for groups and families, thanks to their roomy interiors and wide decks that are perfect for sunbathing or enjoying meals alfresco. The stability of a catamaran means less rocking, which is especially beneficial for those who are new to sailing or prone to seasickness.

At Yachting.Rent, we offer both sailing boats and catamarans in a variety of sizes and styles, all maintained to the highest standards of safety and comfort.

1. Professional Guidance : Our experienced team can help you decide between a sailing boat and a catamaran based on your group size, sailing experience, and personal preferences.

2. Wide Range of Options : From compact, agile sailing boats to spacious, luxury catamarans, we have options to suit every type of sea adventurer.

3. Qualified Crew : If you prefer, we can provide a skilled and knowledgeable crew who can handle the vessel while you relax and take in the stunning Sardinian vistas.

4. Customized Experience : We can tailor your sailing adventure to your needs, whether that means finding the best spots for swimming and snorkeling, guiding you to hidden coastal gems, or simply ensuring you have the most comfortable journey possible.

5. Safety : All our vessels are equipped with top-notch safety equipment and maintained regularly to ensure you can focus on enjoying your sailing adventure with peace of mind.

Yacht CHARTER in Italy

-- our company, marina yacht charter, international catamaran rental, italy’s most attractive destinations.

Marina Yacht Charter rents catamarans for private cruises in Sardinia, Tuscany, and the Amalfi Coast, carefully selecting the best itineraries to create the perfect vacation. We only propose destinations and itineraries that we ourselves enjoy exploring during the summer.

Brand new fleet

Our fleet is entirely new: as a company policy, we do not rent catamarans that are more than 3 years old. This means that by choosing Marina Yacht Charter, your private cruise in Sardinia, Amalfi, or Tuscany will be experienced on a catamaran built between 2021 and 2024.

Bareboat or skipper-included rentals

Marina Yacht Charter’s catamaran rental service is highly flexible. Depending on our clients' needs, we can rent our catamarans bareboat or with a skipper and hostess included: an entire team working to provide you with the most relaxing sailing experience ever.

Smooth Sailing with MYC

At MYC, we've got your back with technical assistance and continuous support throughout your sailing adventure. Our team of savvy tech experts is always ready to provide any information or help you might need. Before you set sail, let's get to know each other a bit better.

-- LIFE ON BOARD

Sailing the gemmes of italy.

A vacation spent on one of our catamarans means a week (or two!) of complete immersion in Italy’s marine beauties. We always suggest an itinerary, but you are completely free to personalize your vacation based on your family or friends’ needs and preferences. A vacation like this creates unforgettable memories for every age: kids love the fun part of always being in the middle of the sea, and adults just love the feeling you get when you experience Italy’s coasts from an exclusive point of view.

We have created a video summary of our clients’ experiences with us that shows how a vacation spent cruising on a catamaran is based on sharing. Sharing food, sharing experiences, sharing spaces: our catamarans can hold up to 12 people with double and single bedrooms with all the comforts needed.

-- HOW IT WORKS

High-level personalization in three simple steps.

The high level of personalization that we care to offer our clients doesn’t allow us to book directly on the website. Just select a destination and your preferred dates, then let our cruise experts take care of you: we will provide you with the best solution based on your needs and ideas.

-- WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Sail the Italian island of Sardinia and the archipelago of La Maddalena before crossing the Strait of Bonifacio to explore the southern tip of the French island of Corsica.

Skipper Vincent and his nutritionist partner Vallery have been sailing in Sardinia and the Mediterranean for a number of years. They’ve made good connections with local farmers, restaurants, and suppliers, and they know all the best spots to explore. Luxury Charter Sailing in Sardinia

The coastal city of Olbia sits in northeast Sardinia, and its balmy palm-lined waterfront is a beautiful marina to join the luxury catamaran Agave. Olbia airport is a short taxi ride away, so if you arrive early, there are plenty of cafes dotted through the beautiful medieval piazzas to explore. Agave can sleep eight guests (7 if you want to include a wellness guide!) in spacious double ensuite cabins. Unlike some bareboat charter options in the Mediterranean, Agave comes fully crewed with skipper Vincent and his partner and host, Vallery.

When taking a luxury catamaran on a private skippered charter, the choice of where to sail can be discussed with skipper Vincent and decided alongside his local knowledge, guests’ wishes, and, of course, the weather! One thing is certain: luxury paradise sailing is on the cards as you explore the stunning La Maddalena archipelago under sail.

Where the wind takes you…

Dine in the beautiful bay of Porto San Paolo and spend the night on anchor before an early start to explore the impressive neighbouring island of Tavolara. This touring limestone island is the perfect backdrop for your first meditation session on deck before exploring the island’s natural beauty.

Head north up the coast towards the famous Golfo Pevero. This traditional Sardinian harbour town offers unique dining experiences with some of the freshest seafood and traditional pasta dishes. Enjoy an early morning yoga session (optional!) on the beach before the tourists start to arrive. Then, we retreat to the tranquillity of the boat and set sail for the protected Maddalena archipelago.

La Maddalena archipelago

Known for its outstanding natural beauty and crystal clear waters, it’s often referred to as the Pearl of the Mediterranean. La Maddalena is a tranquil archipelago of outstanding natural beauty with turquoise lagoons, secret coves and deserted islands. Hundreds of quiet bays framed with limestone cliffs are home to some of Sardinia’s best beaches, and some of the best clear water swimming you’ll find in the Mediterranean.

Spend some time here soaking in the natural landscape as you explore ashore by foot and enjoy the boat’s SUP’s on the water. Take a walk through the rugged terrain to discover the diverse flora and fauna of Caprera island, reaching a breathtaking viewpoint across the bay. After a day of exploring the islands, Agave will visit a sweet marina called Porto Pozzo, known for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants, probably caught that morning! There are many picturesque bays to anchor across the archipelago, providing breathtaking backdrops for Agave’s wellness sailing.

Italy Sardinia Budelli Madallena archipelago

The infamous Strait of Bonifacio

The voyage itinerary will largely depend on when Agave can sail across the Strait of Bonifacio. Skipper Vincent will know more about the wind forecast about a week before you join and what weather window will ensure the smoothest crossing. Visiting the harbour Bonifacio by boat has to be one of the highlights of this voyage, and it’s tipped to be one of the most impressive marina entrances in the world. The stunning white limestone cliffs against the deep turquoise sea are a breathtaking sight.

Explore the island’s rich history, culture and natural beauty. Bonifacio is known for its medieval citadel, old town and picturesque beaches. Be prepared for some serious Game of Thrones vibes!

The island of Corsica is the fourth largest in the Mediterranean Sea, home to craggy peaks, dense forest and mountainous hiking trails. The south coast of the island makes for some fascinating sailing exploration with impressive rolling rock formations and idyllic smaller islands providing amazing snorkelling spots. Spend some time here exploring the coast, swimming and soaking in the natural landscape with some afternoon meditation sessions.

BELOW DECKS

The saloon sits between the two hulls at deck level and with a spacious galley and saloon area, it’s certainly the heart of the boat. Sliding doors open directly onto a comfortable outdoor seating area, perfect for alfresco lunches. There’s also plenty of space to lounge, sun-bathe and meditate at the front of the boat. Each hull has a dropped stepped transom making getting on and off the boat really easy.

Two sets of steps lead into each hull from the saloon with both offering two luxurious double en-suite cabins. The crew sleep in separate cabins in the fore of each hull so there’s plenty of space for its 8 guests!

Vibrant, healthy dishes that delight the eyes and truly satisfy the tastebuds, Vallery can cater for most dietary needs. Evening meals are not included in the ticket price as to give guests the chance to enjoy the delicious local cuisine ashore that this little island is renowned for. Vincent and Vallery will guide guests on the best restaurants to eat at to suit all budgets, sometimes eating as part of a group and sometimes exploring alone – the choice is yours.
