Specifications

The two architects behind this free-flowing, wonderfully nimble 54-footer are Roberto Biscontini and Lorzenzo Argento, whose creation paves the way for a new generation of high-end cruisers that optimize cockpit and interior layouts without any sacrifices to performance, practicality, or comfort. The yacht carries the unmistakable DNA of the Oceanis range , a delicate balance of form and function that make her as pretty as she is capable, and as focused as she is versatile, equally ready for a fast ocean passage or a leisurely double-handed sunset cruise. With an emphasis on build quality, high-end materials, and the innovative vision that has always been a staple of the BENETEAU brand, the Oceanis Yacht 54 truly represents the pinnacle of the modern monohull cruising design.

NAVAL ARCHITECT : Biscontini Yacht Design

INTERIOR & EXTERIOR DESIGN : Lorenzo Argento

EXTERIOR DESIGN

With a straight stem allowing for more interior volume in the bow, and a maximum beam (16.3 feet) carried further aft, the Oceanis Yacht 54 offers a state-of-the-art, perfectly-balanced hull that maximizes thrills in all conditions. Maneuverability on deck was given special attention, particularly around the cockpit, which modernizes the traditional center cockpit design into a flush layout with distinct areas dedicated to lounging and sailing. Aptly drawn coamings and high bulwarks provide increased safety while transitioning to the foredeck. The spacious swim platform provides access to the sea; when deployed, it reveals that the space below the cockpit stores an eight-foot inflatable tender. The Oceanis Yacht 54 is available with three different drafts: shoal, deep, and performance, which measure 6.4, 8.2 and 9.9 feet respectively.

Interior Design

Lorenzo Argento’s objective in designing the interior was to create a warm, modern atmosphere with as much natural light and ventilation as possible. The Oceanis Yacht 54’s layouts reflect a desire to meet the needs of modern-day owners, through well-engineered, versatile cabin arrangements that provide unrivaled levels of comfort and abundant storage space. Tables and seating areas have been reimagined for both leisure and practicality, as well as access to all major systems and components hides in plain sight. There are two versions available, a 3-cabin 2-head or a 3-cabin 3-head, and both can be built using light oak or walnut.

Exceptionally Detailed Craftsmanship

Every detail of the Oceanis Yacht 54 has been meticulously designed to become one with the crew and the sea.

She is, at a glance, unmistakably an Oceanis – the mainsail arch, the modern sheerline, the elegant proportions, those distinctive coamings and portholes – and honors her pedigree by continuing to offer the features that have made the range a standard-setter in the industry. A vast array of options, trim levels, rigging and keel setups, and mechanical components ensure she can be tailored to fit the needs of every sailor, and her stylish looks will turn heads in every harbor on every ocean.

oceans four yacht

Safe and Easy Sailing

The Oceanis Yacht 54 isn’t just modern on the outside; it is a yacht that is brimming with the latest and greatest sailing technologies intuitively built into her systems, designed to make the cruising experience as easy and as enjoyable as possible. Ship Control, an interface that allows access to boat data and components, is installed as standard. Also available as an option, Dock&Go greatly facilitates engine-powered maneuvering in tight spaces by combining a 360 degree rotating pod with a retractable bowthruster. Under sail, the optional Harken AST (assisted sail trim) automatically trims the sails based on apparent wind, all controlled by a simple display in the cockpit. Shorthanding a 54-footer has never been easier.

Great Ease of Movement

The flush cockpit allows for seamless movement between the companionway and the helm stations. The flow to the aft swim platform and down the gangways to the foredeck is remarkably natural, and the positioning of lines, winches, and controls allows for near-effortless sailing. Sightlines from the helm forward are excellent. The cockpit seats feel comfortable yet snug, though the foredeck sunpad is likely to be the most popular spot on the boat.

Exclusive Trim and Materials

A close inspection of the Oceanis Yacht 54’s engineering and build quality reveals a craft that is decidedly a cut above the rest. Every single aspect of the boat has been carefully planned and nothing has been taken for granted - from the high-quality door fixtures and upholstery, to the exquisite molded woods of the interior, to the aluminum sub-floor that increases rigidity yet saves weight. The owner will be able to choose between two cabin layouts (both with two wood options available) and a palette of upholstery and paneling choices, not to mention the electronic, mechanical, and rigging options. Whatever the choice, on such a beautifully-executed boat, the owner is bound to be one with the boat, and one with the sea.

Ocean Alexander’s Ocean-Crossing 32 Legend

  • By Chris Caswell
  • Updated: August 12, 2021

Ocean Alexander 32L

I noted the Ocean Alexander 32L’s gentle, sweeping curve from bow to stern. The look reminded me of what I’d seen in the pages of Yachting during my youth, when designers such as Phil Rhodes, Sparkman & Stephens, Bill Garden, Alden, and others drew gently curving classic sheers. Ocean Alexander’s new 105-footer continues the tradition.

The L in 32L stands for “legend,” which is apropos because this yacht is a tribute to the builder’s more than 40 years of yachtbuilding experience. That experience comes through in the details. For example, opening the nearly 6-foot-wide sliding doors on each side of the salon creates a pleasant cross breeze at the dining table, which also offers sole-to-ceiling vistas. Cut-down bulwarks open the view from the salon as well. The feeling is open and airy in the salon, from the sliding doors to the aft deck to the forward bulkhead, with help from nearly 7-foot headroom.

The galley is just forward of the salon, with double-door Sub-Zeros, a full-height wine chiller and wraparound marble counters. There’s also a side-deck door for crew access, to eliminate passing through guest areas during service.

Ocean Alexander 32L

Far forward, past a day head, is the main-deck master stateroom, with sweeping panoramas on three sides. The mullions are small, leaving room for the big views.

Four guest staterooms are off the central foyer belowdecks, each with windows and opening ports for air and vistas. Each stateroom is en suite with stall showers and marble appointments.

The 32L I got aboard had an optional sky lounge, with the bridge deck divided between a fully enclosed forward entertaining area and an alfresco lounge aft. Besides having a twin-pedestal helm, the sky lounge creates a “second salon” with windows on all four sides. A wet bar, TV and day head share space with twin sofas and an easy chair that begs for a favorite read to be savored. Outside are a dining table and a bar with three fixed stools. Adding to the amenities are a grill and whirlpool spa.

The foredeck is also a getaway space for guests, with sun lounges and a table for enjoying sundowners. The aft deck has a raised dinette space that’s protected from the sun. With the twin tables, this is where I would enjoy most meals.

Ocean Alexander 32L

There is no “upstairs-downstairs” layout for the crew on the 32L. They have three cabins and a full mess with a galley. In addition to the usual door to the transom, the crew also has a safe entry from the cockpit while the yacht is underway.

Power on the 32L is a pair of 1,900 hp MAN V-12 diesels, and the engine room should be on every tour. With a pair of 40 kW Kohler gensets tucked in the corners, it is, quite simply, clean and organized. The engine room is gloss-finished for easy cleaning, all the systems are readily accessible, pipes and wiring are labeled, and service techs will have the necessary space.

The builder says that MANs typically push the 32L to a top speed of 23 knots, but running on an unruly and lumpy Gulf Stream, our speeds were closer to the cruise speed of 20 knots at 80 percent of rated revolutions per minute, which should mean these diesels have a long life span. Drop the speed back to 10 knots, and the 32L has transoceanic range of 3,496 nautical miles.

Ocean Alexander 32L

The weather was challenging when I was aboard, but the 32L was seakindly, shouldering away seas with a comfortable motion in all directions. By all directions, I mean not just into swells or down-sea (which most yachts can handle) but also beam-to. The yacht’s standard Side-Power Vector Fin stabilizers helped, but a large part of the comfort, I suspect, was due to the builder keeping the weight low with high-density closed-cell structural foam, which also reduces sound levels. Fiberglass-infusion lamination with carbon fiber is used in high-stress areas. The Side-Power setup also provides zero-speed stabilization at anchor. Ocean Alexander finishes all the exterior surfaces with Alexseal paint for longer gloss retention and easier maintenance.

While it was the 32L’s lovely sheerline that captured me at first, the solid build and outfitting helped me fully understand why the boat is part of the Legend line.

Man stranded in boat after running aground in Ocean Park

OCEAN PARK Wash. (KPTV) - A week after a boat washed ashore in Ocean Park, it remains stuck and sitting in the sand.

The owner, who has stayed with the boat, said he has been waiting for the right opportunity to get back into the water.

Michael Bonome is the boat’s captain and said he was trying to get away from the world when he got on his boat last week. However, when he ended up aground, he ran into a community that refused to let him go through it alone.

“It’s not a bad situation,” he said. “I’m on a beach. The weather’s nice. It turned into a blessing.”

Bonome called the vessel his “bug-out boat.” After trying the vessel out numerous times on lakes and rivers, he took it into the ocean for the first-time last week.

“I decided to take the risk and see how the boat handles,” Bonome said.

He said conditions were getting bad and he was deciding if it might be wise to turn around because “the waves were getting pretty big and scary.”

Things would take a turn for the worst when the radiator hoses in the engine blew and the boat began overheating.

“The cab started smoking inside while I was fighting these big waves coming up on me,” he said. “Then I could hear the engine was about to bog out and it shut off on me.”

As the inside of the boat was filling with smoke, he poked his head out for air. He said that’s when he thought it would be a good idea to drop the anchor, but when he made his way to the back, he saw his dog had fallen into the water. He jumped in after his pet.

“An even bigger wave came and hit me,” he said. “Knocked me in. Now, I’m in there swimming for my life.”

Miraculously, he would be able to grab onto the boat and ride it ashore. He quickly realized he was freezing.

“I felt like I was going into shock,” Bonome said. “I went inside to get my clothes off as fast I could.”

In the panic and looking around, he said he was met with open arms. He found a community witnessing his troubles at sea, who were eager to step up and help.

“With the power of love from God, there was a community of people here waiting to help me,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

He said an ambulance was on stand-by and ready to help. He watched as someone rescued his dog too. All the while, he said others were picking up things that had fallen out of his boat.

“It took a bad situation and turned it into a good one,” he said. History is being made, for me anyway. The love that is outpouring is overwhelming.”

Bonome said the community is trying to help get him back into the water. While the tides have been close, they haven’t been close enough to get his boat back in.

In the meantime, he said he’s unable to leave the boat or it could be considered abandoned. Until it’s figured out, he’ll be hanging out with his newfound friends and counting his blessings.

“Nobody’s hurt,” he said. “My dog is alive. It’s literally a miracle.”

If the tides won’t get his boat back in, he said some people have brought up the idea of getting a crane involved.

The Long Beach community has set up a GoFundMe for him to help get his boat back into the ocean.

As demand for more sustainable and environmentally friendly products goes mainstream, a large number of organizations and innovations are sprouting up to combat pollution. One of these nonprofit organizations is The Ocean Cleanup, which has been developing technologies to stop the flow of plastic pollution into our oceans.

Since 2013, the Netherlands-based team of engineers and scientists, led by inventor, founder and CEO Boyan Slat, have been testing and deploying debris-catching barriers, autonomous River Interceptors and -- probably its most famous plastic-catching device -- the Ocean Cleanup System.

The Ocean Cleanup's System 03 is the latest iteration of its oceangoing plastic-catching technology. It's operating in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, located hundreds of miles offshore between California and Hawaii. We spoke with Slat, who gave us an update on the mission and an overview of how the System 03 picks up floating plastic debris in the Pacific Ocean.

"Our cleanup system is comprised of two parts. On one end you have the hardware, the actual physical system that is out in the ocean. And then secondly, you have the software, which are the computer models that guide us to where and how we tow the system through the patch," Slat told me.

"On the hardware side we have this two-and-a-half kilometer, U-shaped barrier that is towed by two ships, which funnels the plastic from the ocean's surface into a collection bag called the retention zone," Slat said. "The plastic gets retained and then periodically, once that's full, we take that retention zone on the deck of one of the ships and empty it, and then return it to sea so we can keep collecting while we do the sorting on the ship."

231019-meetingday-05

System 03 is Ocean Cleanup's fourth-gen system, preceded by System 001, System 001/B and System 002. System 03 is the organization's largest and most effective ocean-cleaning device. The organization said Monday in a post on X that it has now collected over 10 million kilograms (22 million pounds) of trash from oceans and rivers. You can follow the progress with Ocean Cleanup's dashboard on the organization's website .

The Ocean Cleanup plans to scale up its cleaning operation after testing of System 03 concludes. It hopes to deploy as many as 10 ocean cleanup systems at a time, its long-term goal being to rid the Pacific Ocean of most or all of the floating plastic pollution over a 10-year span.

theoceancleanup-system03-second-extraction-plastic-1920x1280

"Since we started with System 002 in 2021, we've seen a steady increase. The first expedition we did we caught, I think, about 7 tons of plastic," Slat said. "In late 2023 ... we went up to 45 tons in a single trip. This year we hope to do even better than that. The magical number that we're aiming for is 100 kilos per hour. If we hit that with a decently sized fleet of cleanup systems, we can actually clean up the patch within 10 years."

See Four Seasons' upcoming ultra-luxury cruise with a $350,000-a-week suite bigger than most homes

  • Four Seasons says it will begin sailing an  ultra-luxury yacht cruise in January 2026.
  • The 222-guest vessel would have 95 spacious suites and 11 dining options — but food wouldn't be free.
  • The largest suite would have four floors and bedrooms, a spa, and a price of $350,000 per sailing.

Insider Today

Four Seasons plans to expand its high-end hotels and resorts portfolio with a luxury 222-guest cruise ship.

The company says the 95-suite vessel will debut in January 2026 and cost a minimum of $20,000 per weeklong sailing.

For that price, the luxury hospitality giant says travelers would enjoy a one-to-one guest-to-staff ratio and massive suites spanning as many as four floors. If all goes as planned, the 679-foot-long Four Seasons I could become one of the most expensive and opulent options in the cruise industry.

The ultra-plush 14-deck Four Seasons I is scheduled for 19 voyages in 2026 to more than 130 Caribbean and Mediterranean ports.

Reservations opened two weeks ago. Those interested can register to join a waitlist or book through a travel agent.

So far, "sales have been very encouraging, and the demand is exciting to see," Thatcher Brown, chief commercial officer and head of joint operations for Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings, told Business Insider in a statement. The company is a joint owner and operator of Four Seasons Yachts.

Renderings make the Four Seasons I look as opulent as the brand's land-based properties.

Four Seasons says its vessel will have 95 suites ranging from 537 to 9,975 square feet, some with three bedrooms.

The smallest suite starts at $19,700 for a five-night roundtrip voyage to Athens, Greece.

No windowless interior cabins here: Like other ultra-luxe cruises, the suites would all have terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows.

oceans four yacht

Customers could expect upscale amenities like a walk-in closet, down-filled duvets and pillows, and marble dual vanity bathrooms, per Four Seasons.

The most premium suites would also feature additional accommodations for "personal assistants," such as au pairs or security personnel.

Some options, like the 7,952-square-foot Loft Suite, could be adjoined with seven other cabins to accommodate up to 20 people.

oceans four yacht

Without connecting cabins, the Loft Suite would already have three bedrooms and bathrooms, a powder room, and a sauna.

Others, like the largest Funnel Suite, would have its own spa and kitchen.

oceans four yacht

Four Seasons says the 9,975-square-foot mansion, partially perched in the ship's glass-lined funnel , will span four floors, four bathrooms, three bedrooms, and three powder rooms.

Not to mention the private elevator, pool, and $350,000-a-voyage price tag.

Accommodations of this price and size are generally unheard of in the cruise industry.

oceans four yacht

Luxury operator Silversea says the largest suite on its upcoming 728-guest Silver Ray will be 1,324 square feet. Competitor Regent Seven Seas' new Seven Seas Grandeur debuted in 2023 with a more expansive six-guest 4,443-square-foot option.

Both suites' sizes and prices — Regent's starts at $42,000 per person for a total of $252,000 at maximum occupancy — would be stunted by Four Seasons' promise of a 9,975-square-foot, $350,000 floating mansion.

But cabins with six-digit prices aren't unheard of.

oceans four yacht

While not a luxury cruise line, Royal Caribbean's popular three-floor townhouse on the new Icon of the Seas is being booked at an average of $100,000 a week — although it's about four times smaller than Four Seasons' largest.

Royal Caribbean and other mass-market cruise lines are beloved, in part, for their unlimited complimentary food options.

oceans four yacht

Regent Seven Seas' all-inclusive fare also covers caviar, foie gras, and Champagne.

But don't expect any of these to be free on the Four Seasons I.

Breakfast would be complimentary. Lunch, dinner, and booze would not.

oceans four yacht

The vessel's 11 restaurants and lounges would be priced similarly to Four Seasons' on-land properties. (A dinner entrée at its resort on the Caribbean island of Nevis — also one of the ship's destinations — ranges from $34 to $163.)

The pricing structure may sound odd to most cruise traditionalists. (Hey, at least WiFi would be "free.")

oceans four yacht

But some of the ship's amenities could look familiar: Like most cruise liners, the Four Seasons I would have a pool, spa, and clubs for children and teens.

The company also promises a lounge and marina that will open onto the water, giving guests direct access to activities like snorkeling or windsurfing.

Four Seasons Yachts plans to take delivery of its $399 million vessel, now being built by famed Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, in late 2025.

oceans four yacht

A second Fincantieri-built ship would join the hospitality company's fleet the following year. The next vessel would cost more than 400 million euros, about $429.2 million, Four Seasons says.

This isn’t Four Seasons' first foray into itinerary-based vacations.

oceans four yacht

The company has also found "tremendous success" in its private jet-based "cruises," Alejandro Reynal, the president and CEO of Four Seasons, told BI in a statement.

Its 2024 vacation-by-air itineraries started at $135,000 for a 16-day Asia tour. Demand has been growing, he said, "signaling that luxury travelers are looking for immersive, exclusive, end-to-end travel journeys that allow them to explore the world with their favorite brands."

But its new ultra-luxe cruise arm would be entering an increasingly crowded luxury market, soon to be dominated by like-minded hospitality giants.

oceans four yacht

High-end Aman Resorts and Orient Express plan to launch their own luxury cruises in 2027 and 2026, respectively.

Staying ahead of the competition, Ritz-Carlton debuted its first 149-suite Evrima yacht cruise in 2021, with a second 224-cabin ship scheduled to begin sailing later this year. Its least expensive itinerary is currently $5,100 per person for a six-night voyage from Barbados to Puerto Rico in early 2025.

Interested in a hotelier-owned vacation at sea but don't want to pay the luxury price tag? Margaritaville's cruise is an affordable $75 for two nights.

  • The ocean floor's capacity to store vast amounts of carbon is a vital, if little-known, tool in the fight against climate change.
  • Human activities, such as deepsea mining and bottom-trawling fishing practices, pose a threat to its potential.
  • Ocean Decade (2021-2030) is an effort by the United Nations to better manage marine resources and protect 'blue carbon' stores.

“The science we need for the ocean we want” – this is the tagline for the UN Ocean Decade (2021-2030), which has just held its first conference in Barcelona , Spain.

Marine scientists from around the world, including me, gathered alongside global leaders to chart the progress of this ten-year mission to improve ocean health and marine biodiversity. That includes finding ways to better protect the seabed which we still know relatively little about.

Our ocean covers 70% of the world’s surface and accounts for 80% of the planet’s biodiversity. We can't have a healthy future without a healthy ocean - but it's more vulnerable than ever because of climate change and pollution.

Tackling the grave threats to our ocean means working with leaders across sectors, from business to government to academia.

The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with the World Resources Institute, convenes the Friends of Ocean Action , a coalition of leaders working together to protect the seas. From a programme with the Indonesian government to cut plastic waste entering the sea to a global plan to track illegal fishing, the Friends are pushing for new solutions.

Climate change is an inextricable part of the threat to our oceans, with rising temperatures and acidification disrupting fragile ecosystems. The Forum runs a number of initiatives to support the shift to a low-carbon economy , including hosting the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, who have cut emissions in their companies by 9%.

Is your organization interested in working with the World Economic Forum? Find out more here .

Some areas of sediment on the sea floor hold large stores of carbon. Without greater protection, disturbance from bottom-trawling fishing practices for example, could release some of that stored carbon back into the atmosphere.

I joined discussions in Barcelona that have led to the launch of a new sustainable ocean planning initiative , to be coordinated by Julian Barbière , global coordinator of the Ocean Decade. This aims to encourage commitment to sustainable management of 100% of sea area under a nation’s jurisdiction.

With this in place, there’s scope to reimagine the role of the ocean in our wider climate system and recognise that all marine natural systems sequester and store carbon in their soils and sediments.

I’m here on behalf of the global ocean decade programme for blue carbon – that’s any carbon that is stored in the ocean. This project is one of the UN’s 50 programmes aimed at delivering transformative ocean science solutions for sustainable development, connecting people and our ocean. That’s a big ask.

My work focuses on the extraordinary ability of coastal ecosystems – such as mangroves, salt marshes and seagrass – to sequester or store organic carbon in unusually high densities. Our blue carbon team of international research scientists from more than 20 countries is beginning to define emerging blue carbon ecosystems such as kelp forest and sub-tidal sediments as solutions to manage the climate and biodiversity crises.

The 360 million sq kilometres of ocean and sea floor, from coastal seagrass meadows to the sediment that slowly accumulates within the deepest trenches, are massively overlooked as a precious carbon store. Oceans hold vast stores of carbon – the top metre of the ocean holds an estimated 2.3 trillion metric tonnes.

The seafloor is not a resource to be relentlessly exploited, but a vulnerable repository of global biodiversity and carbon that needs protecting. These highly productive, yet vulnerable, ecosystems have been greatly affected by habitat loss and destructive practices such as deforestation of mangroves for shrimp aquaculture in the relentless development of the world’s coastal zones.

Blue carbon has huge potential to provide ocean-based solutions to help mitigate climate change, and thankfully, at the global scale at least, these losses have slowed in recent years .

The potential for blue carbon to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is relatively modest, but healthy, restored ecosystems have the potential to store an extra 2.96 million tonnes of carbon annually. Certain countries, such as Indonesia , offer huge potential as blue carbon hotspots where the protection and restoration of nature are an opportunity, for both the environment and local communities.

Carbon credits, the means by which additional carbon can become a source of investment income in that community, are gaining much interest. Off the coast of Kenya, the community-based Miko Pamojo project enhances direct benefits to local people from mangrove restoration.

Collecting a sediment core to assess carbon sequestration rates in the sediment of a tidal ocean bed.

Blue carbon ecosystems can help countries meet their climate obligations and have been attracting considerable interest. However, if nations want these ecosystems to continue to provide a whole range of services our governments must protect them and, where possible, restore lost habitats.

Most governments have been stubbornly slow to prioritise ocean-based solutions high up on the agenda of global climate negotiations. At this conference, I’ve heard more people, including Unesco’s director general Audrey Azoulay , driving home the need to protect and effectively manage our ocean resources.

Members from the traditional owners of the Great Barrier Reef spoke of “country” from a perspective of a long and sustained human relationship with nature and are intimately connected to the ocean. There is a growing recognition and respect for this indigenous knowledge and our need to integrate that into a sustainable ocean future.

Reimagining the ocean’s role

It makes sense to start by protecting these natural systems that already hold vulnerable stores of carbon – this is sensible risk management.

As nations continue to exploit the marine environment for fishing, fossil fuels and even precious metals which are now being mined from the sea floor in certain places, it is time to rethink the value of these vast natural stores of ocean carbon.

Space science gets way more funding than our oceans, yet vast areas of the global deep ocean remain largely unmapped. “ Life below water ” is by far the least funded of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. That needs to change through a sustained and increased investment in ocean science and greater recognition for the value of our blue economy – defined by the UN as the sustainable use of the ocean’s resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs.

Stepping back to pause and preserve what already exists in the ocean can help the planet, and us, build resilience and create a healthier and more sustainable marine environment. The seabed forms the foundation for an interconnected ocean ecosystem and acts as an important long-term global sink for carbon that involves the whole ocean and its exchanges with the atmosphere and wider Earth system.

While plans are finally moving in the right direction, there are huge challenges ahead. To paraphrase Cynthia Barzuna , director of ocean action 2030 at the World Resources Institute, “there is no wealthy ocean without a healthy ocean”. The biggest takeaway from the Barcelona conference is that a sustainable ocean future depends on a shared vision that works for all of us and marine life too.

At Least 2 Are Stabbed on a Party Boat in Brooklyn

Three people were hospitalized, including a man who was struck in the head with a bottle, and more than 1,000 passengers were evacuated, the authorities said.

Two ambulances parked at the Brooklyn Army Terminal near a ship called the Cornucopia Majesty.

By Erin Nolan and Eliza Fawcett

Two men were stabbed and another was hit in the head with a bottle on a crowded party boat in Brooklyn on Saturday evening, the authorities said.

The men were hospitalized with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police and fire officials said.

The police said the attacks forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 passengers from the boat, a cruise ship called the Cornucopia Majesty , which was docked at Pier 4 at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

A 32-year-old man was stabbed in the torso, a 40-year-old man was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen, and a 28-year-old man was hit in the head with a bottle, the police said. All three men were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

The stabbings happened just after 5 p.m., the police said. No arrests had been made as of Saturday night, and it was unclear how many attackers had been involved.

The police said they believed that a dispute had escalated into a physical altercation, but that the events leading up to the stabbings were still under investigation.

Just before 8 p.m., the group that organized the party, BYFAR Entertainment, posted a statement to social media .

“Unfortunately, a crime scene developed by the pier, which has caused the postponement of the night event,” the company said. “We will have updates on a later date so just hold on tight with us while we sort everything out. BYFAR Entertainment has always been a beacon of safe events in New York City and this rare occurrence has never been the norm with us.”

In the hours before the fight, the Cornucopia Majesty had hosted a party .

Passengers said in interviews that they had enjoyed dancing, eating and drinking rum aboard the ship, but by early evening, they were standing confused on the pier, surrounded by police cruisers and ambulances.

Glendon Thomas, 29, a resident of New Jersey, said he and several friends realized a fight had broken out on the ship only after they disembarked.

“I saw a guy laying on his friend,” he said, adding that the friend appeared to have a wound on his chest.

Kevaun Whitely, who lives in Brooklyn, said the fight had broken out as a large crowd of rowdy partygoers — many of whom had been drinking alcohol — attempted to disembark through the same door.

“It was like a stampede,” Mr. Whitely, 27, said.

The police kept Mr. Whitely and several other people on board the ship for hours as they checked identification, he said.

“I’m glad we got out safe,” he said, adding, “I hope nobody passed away from all this craziness.”
