Expedition staff (guides, expedition leaders)

Oceanwide Expeditions requires the following credentials and experience of all applicants to its expedition staff:

• A university degree in subjects relevant to the Arctic and Antarctica, or special field knowledge and experience in the areas where we operate
• Experience with small boat driving, preferably Zodiacs with outboard engines
• Experience with the safe handling of rifles (in the Arctic only)

Ship physicians (doctors)

Duties and responsibilities

• Provide medical services to guests, staff, and crew as required. This may include treating seasickness and minor injuries, such as strains, sprains, cuts, and fractures (Emergencies like acute coronary syndrome or appendicitis may also occur in our remote regions of travel)
• Attend to administrative duties, such as filling out medical reports and checking on patient medical histories, if necessary
• Maintain and update onboard medical inventory as required
• Be available for guests on the vessel and on shore
• Assist with other duties aboard the ship and on shore as needed by the expedition leader

Qualifications and requirements

• Internationally recognized university degree
• At least five years of recent experience as an emergency doctor
• English fluency, both spoken and written. Any additional European language is considered an advantage
• Experience with diving medicine preferred
• Contracted doctors are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from the vessel
• No financial renumeration is given, but accommodation in a private cabin is provided as well as tea, coffee, and all meals
• Please be willing to partake in Zodiac and shore-based activities, which will provide you ample opportunity to enjoy the polar regions with us

Oceanwide Expeditions is an accredited training center recognized by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Qualsafe Awards. As an RYA training center, we offer a number of shore-based courses, while our recognition by Qualsafe enables us to provide separate courses in first aid and safety training. These courses are regulated by the United Kingdom’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, meeting the highest standards of practice. What makes a great charter yacht?

It’s a question I’ve been asking charter brokers for many years. But the truth is the answers are almost always the same. Sure, brokers always talk about the types of water toys a yacht features. And the size and number of cabins. But in the end, nothing is more important than the crew.

And that’s exactly what Denison Charter Manager Allison Cecilio had to say when we started talking about STAY SALTY , the 135-foot-long Horizon she manages in the Bahamas . In fact, it was the first thing she mentioned.

“I just spent some time aboard during the Bahamas Charter Show and I can tell you the crew is top-notch,” she said. “I mean, I can’t say enough amazing things about the crew. I love that they are more ‘organic and farm-to-table’ than ‘party yacht’, which makes them pretty special.”

“There’s more of a ‘wellness’ feeling on board,” she adds. “They teach yoga. They have the Peloton bike, and a treadmill. They’re a young, energetic crew, who are all about the healthy lifestyle. You just get a calm vibe on the boat the second you walk on.”

And now that STAY SALTY has just emerged from a comprehensive refit, the yacht’s bright and contemporary interior, light wood paneling and joinery, and neutrally toned furnishings in luxurious fabrics and soft leathers are pretty special, too.

It can also easily accommodate up to 12 guests in six staterooms. The master suite on the upper deck has a private lounge, hisand-hers ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, and a walk-in dressing room. The VIP stateroom is on the main deck, while the remaining three staterooms, including one double and two twins, are on the lower deck.

STEWARDESS POSITION SUMMARY The Stewardess' primary responsibility is to ensure consistently superior service is provided to guests. To ensure excellent presentation and maintenance of interior spaces, and to work as an effective and enthusiastic team member.

STEWARDESS JOB DESCRIPTION Provide highest standard of hospitality and service in line with guest expectations; Efficiently prioritize to ensure the most important tasks are achieved first; Primary involvement in cabin, general interior cleaning and turndown service; Maintenance of cabin care and detailed cleaning; Secondary involvement in rotation of meal service support as per Chief Stewardess’ direction; Running laundry service; Provide consistent support to Chief Stewardess; Take pride in your work and complete all tasks assigned. Liaise with Chief Stewardess if tasks cannot be completed in due time; Active participation in daily meeting conducted by Chief Stewardess (provide feedback and/or suggestions on task list, provide regular progress updates)

Actively contribute to keeping all guest and crew areas clean Ensure the inventories you are responsible for are correct and kept “up-to-date” Assist with inventory and restocking provisions Assist with flower and table decorations Assist with Zodiac landings and other activities when required; Interact and socialize with guests

STEWARDESS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Relevant experience on a yacht, luxury cruise ship or high-level service occupation
• Knowledge of all types of service and housekeeping
• General interior knowledge (laundry and garment care, proper use of cleaning products and care of fixtures, fittings and interior furnishings)
• Customer Service
• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks to high standards
• Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
• Ability to work under pressure and to remain calm and courteous in challenging situations
• STCW Basic Safety Course
• Crowd & Crisis Management
• General Attributes: Pleasant demeanor, can-do attitude, enthusiastic, pride in appearance, honest and prepared to “go the extra mile”

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.

Visa Requirements:

Schengen visa is required for this role.
