‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 4 Reunion Revelations: Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion Revelations Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming 273

Drama from season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht did not remain on board — and the cast had plenty of issues to address during the reunion.

The Bravo special, which aired its first part on Monday, July 17, centered around the challenges that Captain Glenn , Gary King and Daisy Kelliher faced during the latest charter season. A noticeable change from the season 4 finale to the reunion was the distance between Daisy and Colin MacRae .

The former couple, who started a relationship during their time on Parsifal III, did not appear to be on good terms. Daisy hinted at a falling out between her and Colin before they virtually crossed paths after filming season 4.

“I am going to leave it to the reunion. I feel like he [has the most to answer for at the reunion]. I have a lot of love for Colin, but things are complicated,” she explained on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in June when a fan asked why she unfollowed Colin on social media. “I don’t need complication on my social media.”

Before new episodes started to air in April, Daisy also discussed Gary and Colin’s overlapping interest in her. “I definitely feel like [Gary] was jealous. I think the boys — at times it did feel like I was a trophy prize [for them]. I could be completely wrong but [the way they acted felt a] bit like an ego thing going on between the two of them,” she exclusively told Us Weekly that same month. “And I was like, ‘OK, I don’t really want to be involved in this.'”

Part 2 of the season 4 Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion will air on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 18.

The Distance Between Daisy and Gary

During the second part of the reunion, Daisy accused Colin of affecting her friendship with Gary. "You made me feel so guilty about Gary. I eventually stopped talking to him and stopped being friends with him," she shared after crying on screen.

Colin and Gary later noted that they wanted to work on their friendship — but neither seemed to have high hopes about their individual relationships with Daisy.

The Truth Behind Daisy and Colin's Connection

According to Daisy and Colin, they originally hooked up before filming season 4. The chief stew, however, accused Colin of being with another woman as well, which he didn't originally disclose. Daisy also claimed Colin told her several times that he wanted to be with her between seasons 2 and 3 — while he was in a serious relationship.

The engineer, for his part, blew off the "irrelevant" comments about their timeline, adding, "This is what nobody knows in the audience. This is why the relationship turned toxic because you can't reason with this woman. I have realized that and I ended things with her."

A-List 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Fans

After Andy Cohen asked whether any celebrities reached out to the season 4 cast, Daisy recalled getting messages from several Hollywood stars.

"I have had a few celebrities reach out to me. I am not going to name drop. But Christina Applegate had reached out to me after I had seen her — she had a nice conversation with Captain Lee," the chief stew shared. "She's a huge fan of the show so it was really exciting. And obviously Chrissy [Teigen] ."

Mads and Alex's New Normal

Mads and Alex confirmed that they have stayed close after sharing a kiss during their last charter. The pair went on to say that a romance didn't seem to be in the cards amid the deckhand's complicated love life.

Daisy vs. Gary's Management Styles

During the first part of the reunion, Daisy put Gary on blast when she questioned his work ethic.

"I think Glenn acknowledges and is aware of how much I do. But possibly he sometimes isn't aware of what Gary doesn't do. Let's put it that way," Daisy quipped. "Gary could probably manage better. He could probably lead better. This isn't about me, this is about Gary."

In response, Glenn noted that Daisy had a "good point" that he didn't know everything about what happens behind the scenes. Gary, for his part, said he stood by the hard work he put into season 4.

Chase and Ileisha's Relationship Status

"After the show finished filming, I went home and ended things with my boyfriend. Chase [Lemacks] and I were just there for each other and he supported me through a lot of hard times," Ileisha Dell , who had a flirty relationship with Chase , revealed at the reunion. "We kind of went back and forth. He came to Australia and I have been to America a couple of times. I even went to Charleston."

The deckhand, meanwhile, admitted that his connection with Ileisha had a major factor working against them.

"The reality of it is that Ileisha is one of the most amazing women I have ever met but we live on the opposite ends of the world," he added. "Australia and Charleston couldn't be farther from each other. There's nothing but love there."

Go Inside Mads Herrera and Gary King’s Reunion Confrontation Over Their Romance

The pair found themselves sparring during Part 1 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion.

below deck sailing yacht season 4 reunion part 2 recap

Gary King and Mads Herrera came face-to-face (virtually, that is) for Part 1 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion on July 17, and it was no surprise that both yachties had a lot to say about their boatmance.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Peacock and the Bravo app .

Read on to discover how Gary and Mads really feel about how things went down throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 .

Mads Herrera’s Reflections on Her Fling with Gary King

Reunion host Andy Cohen pointed out that while some may think Mads was “foolish for falling for Gary,” it looked like she was “100% in control” of the situation, for the most part. So what does she have to say “to the doubters,” as Andy put it?

“To the doubters, you don’t know me,” Mads responded. “I am a very detached kind of person and I like to stay in control of situations, and I personally felt in control of the situation.”

Gary King’s Thoughts on His Romance with Mads Herrera

When it came time for Gary to look back at his situationship with Mads , Andy made sure to question why he felt “led on by Mads” despite the fact that “she was always clear that [they] were just having fun.”

Gary, however, disagreed with Andy’s assessment — despite production playing back several clips in which Mads did exactly as Andy said she had — and argued that Mads was the one who would often come into his bed at night. “That’s what puzzled my mind,” Gary said, “to be quite honest with you.”

Mads Herrera and Gary King’s Disagreement Over Their Fling

Mads pushed back at Gary’s comment, replying, “Please, you’re really gonna say that?” But Gary proceeded to double down. “That’s exactly what happened as far as I remember,” he said. “I went to bed a few times and you decided to jump into my bed… Don’t get me wrong, I was into you, Mads. I’m not gonna deny that.”

Mads Herrera Has a Really Surprising Take on Hooking Up with Gary King Over Alex Propson

“I’m not saying you weren’t,” Mads replied. “Just don’t say that I was the one initiating all of it, please.”

Andy then wondered aloud if Mads could be “the female Gary, in a weird way,” but she said that’s not the case. “I’m not the female Gary because I’m very direct,” Mads explained. “I said it straight from the start and throughout the whole time: I’m having fun. And if you didn’t understand that, I’m sorry, I tried.”

To see what else Mads and Gary, as well as the rest of the cast, have to say about Season 4, be sure to tune in to Part 2 of the  Below Deck Sailing Yacht  reunion on Tuesday, July 18.

After a spring season of yachting fun (which was actually filmed in August 2020 ), steamy hookups, and bitter feuds, Below Deck Sailing Yacht   is reaching its final docking point. The show aired its first reunion episode last night (June 21), gossiping about all of the drama with Bravo host Andy Cohen . And that sea voyage isn’t done quite yet: there’s a whole new reunion set to air tonight, too. Grab your life preserver and brace for motion sickness — things might get a little bumpy for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Season 2 crew.

The first reunion episode dealt with star Dani Soares ‘s new baby, who was rumored to be the child of co-star Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux . Soares shared that she “thinks it’s not his child, and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.” Cerza-Lanaux did not take part in the group reunion last night, but he did sit down for a solo chat with Cohen to clear the air. Clashing with Soares, Cerza-Lanaux said that he would take place in raising the child if it was his — though he also shared that he thought she was “chasing 15 minutes of fame.” Woof! In case you were wondering whether Dani and Jean-Luc are still together , that probably put a nail in that coffin.

Can the drama top last night’s events? Perhaps. Here’s how to watch the  Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Reunion Part 2:

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Reunion Part 2: Gary Apologizes To Mads Over ‘Uncalled For’ Period Comment

In the wake of Gary coming under fire for questioning Mads about her period, Gary addressed the drama and apologized to Mads for what he said to her in the second episode of the 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' reunion.

Gary Mads

There was no way Gary King wasn’t going to get asked about THAT comment during Part 2 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 reunion. In the July 18 episode, Andy Cohen brought up Gary confronting Mads Herrera about supposedly being on her period when he “went down” on her. Gary dropped out of his computer camera’s view for a moment before returning to apologize.

Gary King

“Andy, Mads, I have to apologize, and I’ll apologize to you here in front of everyone. That was very uncalled for,” Gary told Mads. “You didn’t deserve that. No one deserves that. I’m really sorry. And I don’t actually want to answer anything about that, Andy, because that was probably one of the lowest points in the season I would say. That was quite rough. and no one deserves that. Sorry, Mads.”

Andy then asked Mads if she accepted Gary’s apology. “Yep,” she quickly said. The host continued to press Mads and asked if she was completely over Gary after he made that comment. “Yes. At that point, it’s also so late in the season,” Mads continued. “We’re all so exhausted and done. I think you see me say like, I hate everyone. I was so ready to leave and that was like the cherry on top. It was done.”

Daisy Kelliher chimed in and admitted she was “horrified” over what Gary said to Mads. She ended up screaming at him. “I was disgusted. Nobody should speak about another person in that manner in any way,” Daisy said during the reunion.

Mads Herrera

Mads noted that she was only doing so well in the moment because Lucy was “there right from the jump” and “killed the tension.” She added, “I was also very shocked.”

This all started because of something Alex Propson told Gary. Alex brought up walking in on Gary going down on Mads and said he was surprised because Mads told him that she was on her period. (She was joking about it all along, by the way.) A fuming Gary rushed to confront Mads and unfairly chastised her in front of Lucy Edmunds and the cameras for not having the “common decency” to tell him not go to down on her. “Uncalled for” doesn’t even begin to describe what Gary did. Thankfully, Andy addressed the shocking situation with Gary and Mads.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion’s Biggest Bombshell Moments

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 started everyone off on excellent terms. Daisy Kelliher , Gary King , and Colin MacRae walked happily onboard the Parsifal III, their home-away-from-home since Season 2. These three were joined by Captain Glenn Shephard , who has led this series from the wheelhouse since Season 1.

The new cast members within the galley, the interior and the exterior departments all came highly skilled. They were also drama free, yet still fun during crew nights out. Everything was poised to go SO well…

Not on my watch, said the Season 4 reunion. Here, the accusations flew, resulting in tears, broken friendships, and Colin now (allegedly) taking a break from filming the next season. To quote Chef Ileisha Dell ‘s only time expressing stress in the galley, “f**k me, I’m tired.”

So what went down to cause this shift? You’ll find the answers here, in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion’s biggest bombshell moments recap.

A “Taken” Colin Hit on Daisy During Seasons 2 and 3

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Colin MacRae – Parlay Revival (@parlayrevival_colin)

Colin’s first season as a single man was not the win it should have been. On-air, Daisy admitted that she and Colin always held a connection, but due to his taken status in earlier seasons, their chances at romance were non-existent. This season, Colin and Daisy were finally able to connect in a romantic way, which turned sour post filming. More on that later.

Rewind back to where Daisy stated that that their chances in the past were nil. Now let’s compare this statement to the bombshell she dropped at the reunion.

“Why don’t we go back to Season 2, when we’d finished filming, when you were in your serious relationship with your girlfriend, and you pulled me aside in the bar, and you were like, ‘Oh if I was single, you are definitely the person I wanted to hook up with.’ And you grabbed me by my waist, and I flicked it off, and I was like, ‘F**k you,’” Daisy revealed.

It doesn’t end there. Daisy stated that despite Colin’s taken status, he also hit on her in Season 3. “Then the end of Season 3, you pulled me aside, down on the pontoon when we were having a party, and you were like, ‘I really wanna kiss you.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, well, this is awkward because you’re in a serious relationship,’ so I walked away,” she explained.

On this, Colin confessed, “I’ve always had a crush on Daisy, yeah.”

Daisy and Colin Hooked Up Before Filming Season 4

When Daisy and Colin ‘s flirtations began, many viewers were thrilled. In the past, Daisy’s flirtations and had honed in on Gary. Gary, as we all know, loves all of the ladies. No really, ALL.

Throughout Season 4, Colin grew frustrated with Daisy and Gary’s still seen banters. When Gary dropped a bombshell mid-season that he and Daisy had slept together post Season 3, it almost destroyed Colin and Daisy’s chances. Colin felt like this was something that Daisy should have mentioned.

However, this felt like an attempt by Gary to kill Daisy and Colin’s relationship. Luckily(?) this failed, and Daisy and Colin walked off of Season 4 as a couple. When they appeared at the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion, however, they were broken-up, and the gloves were off.

Colin came in hot, revealing “before filming season 4, Daisy and I hooked up. As soon as that happened, I rang Gary and I told him. He was stoked about it.” In reply, Daisy accused Colin of hooking up with another woman around the same time that they had started their fling.

Colin admitted there had been someone else, though he swore that he was upfront with all parties. He then slammed Daisy as being the dishonest one, as she failed to tell him about her time spent with Gary. When Daisy turned the accusations back on Colin, by claiming that there may have been an overlap with her and Colin’s other flame, he stressed, “this is why the relationship turned toxic, because you can’t reason with this woman. I have realized that and I ended things with her.”

The Relationship Between Daisy and Gary Is Strained

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gary King (@king_gk)

During the second half of the reunion, Daisy blamed Colin for altering her friendship with Gary. “You made me feel so guilty about Gary. I eventually stopped talking to him and stopped being friends with him,” she shared, before breaking down into tears.

On a positive note, Gary posted a photo of the trio after the reunion aired. He states that he is still friends with both Daisy and Colin, which is a nicer ending to this saga than what was shown during the reunion.

Colin Now Has a Girlfriend

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Brittany Amodeo (@brittanyamodeo)

Though Colin maintains that there was zero overlap , he is now dating Britt , the woman he was hooking up with prior to filming. At the reunion, Daisy made this known, saying “so then to find out from my crew members a couple of months after we had broken up that he was now in a serious relationship with this woman, it was very shocking for me to hear.”

As there was no cheating, Colin grew exasperated at this point.

Chase and Ileisha Connected Post Filming

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chase Lemacks (@chase_lemacks)

Chef Ileisha had a boyfriend, much to the sadness of Chase Lemacks . However, Ileisha dropped a bombshell during the reunion that she was “single and ready to mingle.” When Andy Cohen asked her if Chase had a shot, Ileisha explained, “after the show finished filming, I went home and ended things with my boyfriend. Chase and I were just there for each other and he supported me through a lot of hard times.”

Despite traveling together prior to the reunion, Chase and Ileisha have decided that they live too far apart and are better off as friends. Sad…we were rooting for them.

Sister Wives: "Whip My Hair!": Meri's New Short Hair & Other Hairstyles After Extraordinary Weight Loss Milestone

90 day fiancé’s angela deem reveals shocking new update about future after happily ever after, 1000-lb sisters' amy slaton is "living life" & "having fun" amid weight loss transformation.

Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm of Below Deck Sailing Yacht from the beginning, and his long-time Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher admitted he favors First Officer Gary King over her at the reunion. Gary and Daisy joined the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast during season 2, and have an ongoing boatmance on the Parsifal III. Even though their relationship has been through its ups and downs on the show, they have proven to be great at their jobs.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 reunion part 1 recently aired, with an unseen clip added on Peacock . According to the exclusive clip shared by US Weekly , the crew members from the Parsifal III had the opportunity to reveal their honest opinions about Captain Glenn.

When asked by host Andy Cohen if Captain Glenn favors the deck team, Daisy replied, “ I don’t think Glenn favors the deck team. I think honestly, it’s a natural thing in yachting. Glenn is more affiliated with the deck team. ”

Below Deck’s Daisy Says It’s “Okay” Glenn Doesn’t Understand Her Department

In the Below Deck franchise, it's common for the Captain to relate more to the deck team, especially since their jobs are similar. Because of this, Daisy stood by Captain Glenn's decision to favor the exterior crew over the interior crew. “ He understands it more. Honestly, I don’t think he understands my department and that’s okay. It happens across multiple industries ," she noted. Captain Glenn agreed with Daisy's statements after responding to Andy's question about if he knew what the stews do. “ I understand. I guarantee you Daisy has forgotten more about stewing than I will ever know. And I have a better idea of what Gary is up to. "

There is always a divide between the deck team and interior team on most seasons of Below Deck. Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean is often hard on the stews, but never criticizes the deck team. However, Captain Glenn doesn't have tendencies to micromanage his crew like Sandy does, and understands that all of his crew members have important jobs on the boat. Since Gary and Daisy have worked with him for three charter seasons now, he knows that their positions on the Parsifal III are valuable.

Now that Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 is coming to an end, the Parsifal III crew members were able to come together and discuss the season at the reunion. While the season involved a lot of drama and multiple love triangles, it still made for great television with its interesting charter guests and scenic destinations. If Gary, Daisy, and Captain Glenn decide to return for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, Captain Glenn will be sure that he can count on them to do their jobs to the best of their ability.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 7 Recap: Grecian Burn

Deckhands being bros on Below Deck Mediterranean.

Welcome to the  Below Deck Mediterranean  Season 9, Episode 7 recap! In this week’s episode, called “Chain Reaction,” the anchor issue causes the guests to extend their stay, Aesha tries to broker a truce between her two stews, and Elena’s attempt to lure Joe away from Bri falls flat. Additionally, high winds and approaching smoke force Sandy to make a risky exit from the dock. Here are some of the highlights from Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 7.

“Stop the anchor!”

Captain Sandy on Below Deck Med talking into a walkie talkie

When last we left the Mustique crew, the anchor was free-falling to the bottom of the ocean, as the chain unspooled like a runaway train.

Sandy’s frantically yelling, “Put the brake on! Stop the anchor! Stop the anchor!”

Even though the crew finally manages to stop the chain from running out, Sandy says, “We’re not going to be able to get our anchor up.” Sandy doesn’t want to leave it because it’s “a very expensive piece of equipment.” An on-screen graphic tells us a new anchor and chain can cost upwards of $65,000.

Sandy decides to put a buoy on it to mark the anchor’s location, take the guests back to the dock, and return later for the anchor. Hopefully, it’ll still be right where they left it.

Aesha has to break the news to the guests that there’s a problem with the anchor, and they’ll be late getting back to the dock. They may miss their flights. She starts serving more drinks to keep them happy.

Sandy also comes to see the guests and assures them that “the boat is not sinking.” They just have an unavoidable problem with the anchor that will delay them for a bit.

The guests take it well and are just happy to have their stay on the boat extended.

A change in hierarchy on Below Deck Mediterranean

Below Deck Mediterranean's Joe Bradley scrubbing the deck.

When Joe is slowly placing a fender to prevent the boat from hitting the dock, Sandy isn’t pleased. She tries to keep it positive and says he just needs to learn a little more.

She calls Iain to the bridge and asks if he’s chosen a lead deckhand yet. He says he chose Joe because he seems to have more experience. But Sandy says, “Nate works circles around him. Joe’s a great talker, so maybe that’s why you thought that … I think you need to reassess experience.”

“This is clearly an oversite on Iain’s part,” Sandy interviews. “He should’ve informed me before making this decision … In the last few dockings, I always have to correct [Joe]. If Iain had taken the time to read the CVs, he would have seen that Nathan has a lot more experience than Joe. That’s a red flag.”

“In the future,” she continues with Iain, “always run it by me. But Joe does not have the experience when I dock, so Nate’s my bow guy.”

Just give peace a chance

Aesha Scott serving as Chief Stew on Below Deck Mediterranean.

Once the guests are gone, Aesha calls a meeting and tells Ellie and Bri they can bring a cocktail. When they’re all seated, Aesha says, “Well done on this trip, guys! I’m so pleased.” Except for the fighting and back-biting.

“You guys lost your focus for a little bit,” she adds. “It’s important to remember to say things with respect and kindness.”

“It bothers me if anybody’s putting out there that I’m disrespecting people,” Ellie interrupts defensively. “That’s something I have a huge issue with.”

Bri adds that her feelings were hurt, too, but Ellie responds that they don’t have time to be “overly sensitive about every single word.” I hope Aesha’s taking note of Elena’s overbearing tone. Plus she’s missing the whole point of the meeting.

Aesha reminds Ellie that they all have different personalities and to be conscious of how somebody might interpret something they say. “In a team environment, you can’t say, ‘I’m me and you have to take it,’” Aesha explains.

“But you can’t keep blowing things out of proportion at all times,” Ellie counters. “It’s exhausting.”

Aesha tells them to just “squash it” for now, but to watch how they speak to each other in the future “to be the best team we can be.”

Even though they share a group hug, Aesha questions whether things are fully resolved. Ellie kept trying to put the blame on Bri for “taking things the wrong way” and being “overly sensitive.” I don’t think Ellie heard the message Aesha was attempting to send.

The chief stew decides she’ll just “keep an eye on them” and hope for the best. If the situation escalates, she’ll have to ask for Captain Sandy’s help.

No kindness, no peace on Below Deck Mediterranean

Bri doing laundry on Below Deck Mediterranean.

Elena’s in the laundry helping Bri catch up. Bri’s still flirting with Joe, which annoys Ellie. In Bri’s defense, Joe was also flirting with her, so what’s a girl to do?

“You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube,” Bri observes.

Meanwhile, Iain tries to get Ellie’s attention. Maybe she’ll get off Bri’s back if she has a man of her own. But even though Iain has high hopes, when a producer asks Ellie if he has a shot with her, she immediately shakes her head and says, “No.” So that’s that, then.

Almost immediately following the meeting with Aesha, Ellie and Bri are fighting over personal space while getting ready for the crew night out. Part of the problem is that Ellie is sitting in the middle of the cabin floor curling her hair, and Bri can’t get around her.

“Just get yourself together,” Ellie snaps, which is not very “respectful.”

“In the beginning, I thought Ellie could possibly be a friend,” Bri interviews. “But now, all trust is gone.”

For the night out, Elena is wearing a skin-tight, lacy black bodysuit, possibly hoping Joe notices.

At the bar, Aesha makes a plea to Joe, “You know how they’ve been having their little quarrels? Can you just please take one night off from the girls?”

“I don’t want any trouble,” Joe claims. “I’m not just like this little machine, that just goes around … f*cking everything. But I don’t think tonight is my night.”

“Thank you,” Aesha says, relieved.

Looks like that sexy bodysuit was a waste of effort and time, Elena. Joe respects Aesha’s request and doesn’t take the bait.

Sandy takes the risk

Captain Sandy Yawn and Aesha Scott on Below Deck Mediterranean.

Sandy’s on the bridge when she gets a report about a wildfire burning “a couple of hours from the marina.” Welcome to California, Sandy.

“This is the first time in my career that I’ve dealt with wildfires,” she says. “We need to get off the dock before we have a problem.”

When the new guests arrive, the wind is crazy. Sandy hopes it will die down so they can get off the dock. These guests are only on board for one night, and they don’t want to spend it in the marina. Also, Sandy wants to get out before the smoke from the wildfire arrives, but she has to wait for the wind to die down.

As she tells the guests, “I don’t want to make you seasick on your first time out,” which they appreciate.

To make matters worse, a big superyacht just parked right in front of the Mustique, blocking their exit. The wind is picking up, and the smoke is moving in.

“Typically, I wouldn’t take the risk to leave the dock,” Sandy says, “but because we have so much smoke coming in, I have to get this vessel off the dock. So I’m going to take the risk.”

Sandy gives the order to drop the lines and go. The plan is to thrust off the dock and go as close to the superyacht as she can to clear it. There are also two smaller boats on her port side, so she not only has to clear those boats but their ground lines also. It’s gonna be a tight squeeze. Can she make it?

TO BE CONTINUED …

Below Deck Mediterranean Recap: Abandoned Anchor

Below deck mediterranean.

below deck sailing yacht season 4 reunion part 2 recap

Too often this week we’re told how terribly something could go and then it’s fine. I’m the unwilling participant in a butt workout with all the cheek clenching and unclenching. The worst thing I saw in this episode was Gael’s boyfriend’s text: “Could use an update. Thanks.” That is a text you send to a co-worker you hate or the Spectrum installation guy who said he’d be there two hours ago. Not to your girlfriend! The punctuation — thanks PERIOD — is a clear kiss of death for this relationship. More on that later.

The immediate drama at hand is that the anchor is stuck on the ocean floor because of a broken windlass. They can’t take the guests back to port in the tender because Iain forgot to charge its battery. It’s like waking up to the awful realization that you forgot to plug your phone in the night before, if that mistake could cost upwards of $65,000 if they have to buy a new anchor. Lucky for Iain, it turns out not to be his fault because the second officer wasn’t turning the intrepid on correctly. Sandy decides to leave the anchor, running the risk of losing it. They put a buoy on the chain so it can be retrieved later. As the deck crew prepares to drop the anchor, Joe tells us, “Someone could get hurt, if not die.” This does not happen. It’s fine, and I’m annoyed by the melodramatics, which are far from over.

The anchor issues put the boat three-plus hours behind schedule, so the guests will miss their flights out. Trishelle is supposed to host people at her house that night. It feels like it could get tense, but her husband is a Delta pilot, so she’s not really concerned. All the guests are incredibly laid-back about the situation. They see it as extending the vacation, and Aesha keeps them in decent spirits with plenty of drinks.

The Mustique finally sails to the port, which is two hours away, so taking the tender doesn’t seem like it was ever a realistic option. The wind is getting worse, threatening their docking ability. Boy, have we seen this one before. Joe takes too long to drop a fender, but the docking is ultimately fine. It’s yet another build-up of suspense that goes nowhere. Sandy can tell Nathan has more experience than Joe and designates him as the bow contact. Joe can’t even tie lines properly. Any rock-climbing tech bro or 12-year-old skipper at summer camp knows their knots; how doesn’t he?! Sandy asks Iain if he’s chosen a lead deckhand, prompting me to do a double take when we realize Iain never told the captain he chose Joe on day one. Sandy says he should reassess: Nate works circles around Joe, who’s merely a good talker. She thinks Iain didn’t read their CVs, and it’s a red flag he didn’t check with her first.

Iain is incompetent not only in leadership but also in flirting. He thinks he’s been playing the long game with Ellie and is ready to make his interest known. Unfortunately for him, Ellie says he has no shot with her. This feels a bit mean on her part, but also, we understand. When Iain compliments her lipstick, Ellie makes her feelings clear by turning instead to Joe for outfit advice. Iain awkwardly butts in: “I concur. Bodysuit.” As the guests depart, Brittany compliments Sandy on running a tight, perfect ship. This is obviously untrue, given the delay, but they leave a $25,000 tip nonetheless. Who wants to look like a bad tipper on TV, right?

Aesha, now an official Marsha Doll Model, holds an interior team meeting, reminding the stews to watch how they speak to each other. Ellie pushes back, saying they don’t have time to be overly sensitive about every word. She insists that they all — clearly meaning Bri — should work on “how we take things.” Aesha can tell the issue isn’t fully resolved but will keep an eye on it. As will all of us.

A team comes to repair the windlass while another emergency-services crew fetches the anchor. I’m disappointed we don’t get to see the retrieval. Later, “Zea Marina” texts Sandy that the anchor is there for delivery. That’s just the name of the marina, but I love that it looks like how you’d save a person, Zea who works at the marina, in your phone. The whole process was cheaper than buying a new anchor but still expensive at $40,419.93. Very exact, those Bravo accountants. Also a great reminder to never buy a boat.

The crew night out is at Six d.o.g.s, a club name whose periods I cannot find the meaning in, unlike Gael’s boyfriend’s passive-aggressive periods. Nathan and Gael lick salt off each other for tequila shots. Jono correctly assesses the pair: “It’s gonna happen.” Back on the boat, Gael worries about being a heartbreaker, but she thinks Nathan is different. Sure, he’s different because he’s in front of her now. She could also save her boyfriend some pain by breaking up with him before kissing another guy, but she seems too afraid to do the breaking up, so she goes ahead and kisses Nathan. The next morning, Gael shows her boyfriend’s sad texts to Jono. Jono asks, “Do you feel like you’re trying?” and I applauded. He could add therapist to the architect-chef title. However, Gael does think she’s trying because she’s always on her phone. Jono gently suggests maybe they need a break. She doesn’t want to disappoint her boyfriend, but it’s definitely too late for that. She explains that growing up, she never heard “good job,” only “you can do better.” I guess the analogy is that now she’s looking for a better boyfriend? Or is it that she knows she could do better by cleanly breaking up with her boyfriend before kissing her co-worker? Whatever the reasoning, she has found that distance does not always make the heart grow fonder.

On the Joe-Ellie-Bri love triangle front, Joe goes to Aesha for advice, and she asks him to take the night off from the girls. He wants to be professional and agrees taking a step back is for the best. He tells Bri he doesn’t want to do anything right now, and she’s okay with that. Again, all that lead-up for nothing. It’s like they keep inflating a balloon, teasing how exciting it’ll be to see it pop, but then just slowly and safely let the air out.

With Joe taking the night off, Ellie’s lace bodysuit isn’t attracting the guy she wanted it to. Iain turns on the cringe: “There’s a lot of people telling you you’re beautiful. I’m another one.” She tries to shut down the conversation, saying she’s “a person of few words.” Iain claims he is too, then continues talking and talking. He drunkenly confesses he’s not connecting with people as much as he wants. Ellie gives solid advice: Ask people about themselves and listen. So he asks her … about himself. That is, if she’s interested in him. She leaves to dance and he follows her, talking the whole time and missing all her social cues.

And Bri is once again missing laundry, specifically Sandy’s. The captain says this is incident No. 4, or maybe 5, and while it’s not a fireable offense, Bri needs to develop a better system. Bri knows she’s making mistakes but insinuates that Ellie might be sabotaging her, so she’s going to log everything for “receipts, bitch.” If this were true, I think we’d get to see footage of Ellie’s rearranging. I won’t be mad if petty rivalry finally motivates Bri to be good at her job.

Sandy doesn’t have time to look for her missing shirt because she’s checking the wind and reports on wildfires north of Athens. It’s difficult to create suspense over events that happened a year ago. (HBO’s The Newsroom , anyone?) While we know the fire won’t reach the Mustique , we don’t know what will happen when a giant superyacht docks right in front of them. Typically, Sandy wouldn’t leave in these conditions, but she wants to avoid the smoke rolling in. The wind dies down enough, and they’re off. From sea level, it looks like they’re heading straight into the huge yacht. From above, it looks fine, like getting out of a wide parallel-parking spot. But the Mustique is close to the other boat’s lines, so the episode ends on a “to be continued.” They want me to clench my cheeks until next week, but I’m no longer falling for it.
