Experienced sailors value the added safety that comes with good sailing performance. The ability to sail off a lee shore, shorten a passage to within the available weather window, and safely maneuver through heavy seas are all features that make Outbound Yachts some of the best cruising sailboats in the world. Equally important is having the comfort required to avoid fatigue when heading offshore. A dry and comfortable cockpit, good visibility, and a forgiving motion are essential for a safe and enjoyable passage.

Ask us about the All New 54' Offshore and the New Outback 50' both available now.

Offshore yachts.

OFFSHORE YACHTS continues a legacy and reputation building extremely high-quality semi-custom coastal cruisers. Offshore’s are known for their incredible seakeeping ability and extremely comfortable ride and have earned their “Softest Ride on the Water” moniker.  OFFSHORE has built well over 300 yachts, with a lifecycle that has spanned typically over 20 years for each model.  This lifecycle is an amazing tribute to their well-thought-out designs.  With thorough design reviews, Offshore continually improves each model. The yachts range from the 54’ Pilothouse on up to 90’ Voyager and has introduced 2 new models in 2021.

Clients that are involved in building their own custom Offshore, are rewarded with a fun building process, a finished yacht that more than exceeds their expectations, an amazing Offshore family and a level of pride in ownership that is bolstered by complements from onlookers every time they board their boat. The resale is very strong for the Offshore Yachts brand making it the smart money yacht investment.  Countless repeat clients for new builds prove this out. Maybe this would be reason enough to explore the new build process?

As the world wide distributor for Offshore – every Offshore built starts right here with us.

Motoryacht Series

As with all Offshores, the 87/92 was born out of our maxim – “The softest ride on the water.” However, the more specific impetus for this newer series was the request of some clients for a yacht that expressed Offshore’s fundamental characteristics while offering somewhat more modern styling than the similarly sized Voyager.

Voyager Series

As the flagship of the Offshore Yachts model line, the Voyager offers a classic beauty that is rare in today’s world of yachting, an exquisiteness of line and form that can’t help but be envied and appreciated.

Pilothouse

Pilothouse Series

When it comes to flowing lines and flawless proportions, the sleek Offshore 76/80 Pilothouse is the jewel of the seas. She can be easily handled by a couple but is also crew ready if you simply want to sit back and relax with family and friends.

pilothouse series offshore yacht

This midrange series has updated classic styling and all the essentials of Offshore design genetics that experience has shown to simply work. This is a boat for folks looking to go farther, and often, in safety and in comfort.

This brand new cutting edge design by Offshore Yachts builds on the updated classic styling of her predecessors offering a more modern interpretation that will be relevant for years to come. Her well-balanced styling and class as opposed to myriad kooky looks in today’s contemporary market will add years to her lifecycle and strengthen her resale.

64 voyager offshore yacht

The 64 Voyager might be the most capacious 64 on the market. Her generous 18.5-foot beam allows a full-beam master with his and her heads and a salon area rivaling the Offshore 76. She has the classic Portuguese bridge design. Perfect for long range cruising.

Offshore West is thrilled to present the new Offshore 62 ELV. After our recent acquisition of Offshore Yachts, we gathered our team to perform a thorough review of our Prime Mover, the 62 Pilothouse. Built upon her heritage of a winning design, the 62 has been the inspiration and starting point for many other Offshore Pilothouse and Motoryacht models, ranging from 54’ – 90’ - Each successful in their own right. The 62 ELV with her raised deck design provides volume in feel and headroom in reality. Her large view windows bring in tremendous light for an open feel. The new redesigned engine room increased headroom, easier access. Her (2) fuel tanks forward along the forward bulkhead open up the sides of the engines for proper servicing and inspections. Its time to check her out.

54 Pilothouse Profile in Newport Beach

The Offshore Yachts 54 Pilothouse is just the right yacht to meet the demanding “cruising couples” mission. Comfortable accommodations, open space planning, a master stateroom midships and all the functional and safe design features makes this so.  Our newest 54 incorporates large view windows, off the grid Energy control,  beautiful interior appointments, and all the new technology you could imagine make this new 54 Pilothouse a must see.

The Offshore advantage

Solid integrity.

Offshore yachts are built using the latest technology in band-laminated and uni- and bi-directional materials. Core cells above the waterline, vacuum bagging, and vinylester laminates ensure maximum osmosis protection. Four full-length stringers and multiple athwartship frames are laminated and bonded for incredible strength and stiffness. Massive, welded, stainless engine beds provide great strength with minimal vibration. An amazingly strong hull-to-deck joint combines with a structural, upper rub-rail to give the Offshore unparalleled strength where it is needed. Whenever you head out to sea, you have the confidence that comes from knowing your Offshore is built the way it should be.

Details, details, details

All Offshores feature a wealth of carefully considered details. For example, covered walk-around decks provide maximum safety and comfort. Window frames, doors, and hatches made of gel-coated fiberglass never corrode or rot. Other details are less obvious. For instance, the boat deck is internally drained to the waterline, keeping the lower decks free of run-off. Safety is enhanced by the provision of two exits from each area of the boat. Detail after detail shows the meticulous care taken in the design and construction of the Offshore yacht.

The benefits of our hull design

Offshore hulls feature a generous beam and finely-veed, deep forefoot tapering to a 12-degree deadrise at the transom. This design produces a hull that is quick to get on plane and knifes cleanly through waves and chop throughout the speed range. A long shallow keel, low center of gravity, and substantial displacement result in a gentle easy motion with excellent directional stability and boat handling characteristics in virtually any sea condition. These are design features insisted upon by experienced yachtspeople.

Stan & Sylvia Dabney

MEET STANLEY and SYLVIA DABNEY: For 40 years, Stanley and Sylvia have been living yachts, boating, cruising, living aboard and being totally immersed in bluewater sailing.   Stanley holds a degree from the University of Washington in Cartography (Christopher Columbus was a Cartographer) and Geography with a Master’s degree in Marketing.   Sylvia attended Washing State University and holds a degree from University of Washington, but after 4 years of living the “corporate life”, they went sailing one day and have never gone back to the corporate world and lifestyle.

They have lived aboard for 15 years, won innumerable sailboat races, both local and offshore long distance, cruised more than 60,000 offshore miles, from Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Washington, the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Caribbean and up and down the Eastern Seaboard.   Both Stanley and Sylvia were licensed Captains and chartered their Valiant 40 for 8 years in the Caribbean, having more than 7,000 guests aboard, many of whom are still dear friends.

Stanley was one of the founding members of Valiant Yachts in Seattle and later was Vice President of Sales for Valiant Yachts in Texas. Sylvia has held 100 Ton U.S.C.G. Master’s License for over 35 years and is the author of the very successful book, “THE BOATER’S COOKBOOK”, which is far more than a cookbook. She advises owners about stocking, stowing, maintaining and being creative in all things aboard and shares stories of some of the people who contributed to the book, where they came from, from all over the world and how they all shared great adventures.

To say that as a team, they offer the most comprehensive knowledge of sailing, outfitting, cruising and living on a yacht and they understand YOUR dream of a sailing lifestyle is an understatement. Just ask any of the clients and friends that they have helped both in buying a boat and then selling their boat and you’ll know why they are considered “THE BEST OF THE BEST” in the Yacht Brokerage industry.

John Chandonnet

John Chandonnet

MEET JOHN CHANDONNET:   Long time racing and cruising sailor John Chandonnet, joined our team and represents Offshore Atlantic Yachts on the Chesapeake Bay, the HEART of sailing on the Eastern Seaboard and home of the U.S. Navy Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. John was in the Honors Program at the University of Maryland, originally hailing from Boston, Massachusetts and eventually residing in Annapolis, Maryland. His association with yacht clubs, cruising clubs and yachting groups has been his lifes passion. John, as a lifetime yachtsman and having owned multiple types of yachts and water craft, has been near and with some of the most famous world class sailors in the world and he brings a level of expertise in rigging and sailing, along with knowledge of “form and function” of every type of boat, that is unique in the Brokerage Yacht World. John covers the entire Mid-Atlantic region.

Garry Domnisse

Garry Domnisse

MEET GARRY DOMNISSE:  Garry is a two time Valiant owner, has been in yacht sales for many years and has been a personal friend for 30 years. Garry was raised “on the water” in Oregon, where his father was a commercial fisherman and where he gained a healthy respect for the sea and an appreciation for sea-worthy vessels. Garry bought his first boat as soon as he graduated college and then continued on with the family tradition of being on the sea by joining the U.S. Coast Guard as a commissioned officer, after graduation.

Now, as a retired LCDR in the U.S. Coast Guard, Garry holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captains license, a General Class Amateur License and gives seminars on boating, electronics and navigation. He and Carol are the authors the very successful cruising book, “OUR ISLAND IN THE SUN”.

After restoring and outfitting their live aboard sailboat, a classic Valiant 40’, he and his wife Carol (who also hails from generations of sailors), recently completed a voyage from California, through the Panama Canal to Annapolis Maryland. As a long term live aboard cruiser, Garry brings his knowledge of boats, the sea, living aboard, cruising and outfitting of yachts, to his many clients who find that working with a broker who has “been there, done that”, gives them a level of comfort and trust, often unavailable at most brokerage houses

Buyer & Sellers Agents for Private Yacht Sales

Having been actively involved in the yachting industry for over 40 years, including yacht manufacturing, new boat sales, and brokerage of both power and sailing yachts, we are in a unique position to provide professional services for those of you who have made contact and have found the perfect boat for your cruising dreams, through private listings and private owners, for both the buyers and/or sellers alike.
At OFFSHORE ATLANTIC YACHTS, we recognize that often buyers and sellers are working together, without the benefit of a Licensed and Bonded Yacht Broker. To many, the complexities and details involving the purchase and sale of an expensive yacht with complicated systems, can be a bit daunting. Most often, the purchase of a yacht may represent one of the largest expenditures an individual will ever make and the process of contracts, escrowing funds, arranging pre-purchase evaluations, surveys, haulouts, documentation, sales tax liabilities, shipping and provisions for lein free titles, are important considerations which we have been dealing with, on a daily basis for over 25 years. The acquisition or sale of a yacht, should not be entered into lightly nor without the assistance of a professional. We understand the many concerns of our clients who have called us and requested our services at OFFSHORE ATLANTIC YACHTS, as Consultants, and/or agents for both the buying and selling yacht owner. Since each private yacht sale is unique, due to so many variables, we are available to give you professional and impartial assistance and work with you on any aspect of the purchase or selling process, from start to finish or anywhere in between. We also have access to innumerable surveyors world wide, financial loan professionals, haul out yards and more, plus references upon request. Please feel free to give us a call, at OFFSHORE ATLANTIC YACHTS (561)818-9235 to further discuss our services and how we may be of help to you.

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas

  • The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
  • Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
  • These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

Insider Today

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocketed potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to charter in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

Related stories

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

offshore yacht boats

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

offshore yacht boats

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

VESSEL REVIEW | Sinichka – Electric commuter boats designed for Russia’s Moskva River

offshore yacht boats

A series of three new electric monohull commuter ferries have already begun operational sailings on the Moskva River in the Russian capital Moscow.

Built by Russian shipyard Emperium, sister vessels Sinichka , Filka , and Presnya – all named after rivers in Moscow – are being operated by the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development (Moscow Deptrans). They are the first units of a planned fleet of 20 vessels that will serve the capital city and other nearby communities. The new ferry system will be the water transport system to be operated on the Moskva River in 16 years.

Each vessel has a welded aluminium hull, an LOA of 21 metres, a beam of 6.2 metres, a draught of only 1.4 metres, a displacement of 40 tonnes, and capacity for 80 passengers plus two crewmembers. Seating is available for 42 passengers on each ferry, and the main cabins are also fitted with USB charging ports, wifi connectivity, tables, toilets, and space for bicycles and scooters. The cabin layout can be rearranged to allow the operator to adjust the distances between the seats and to install armrests of varying widths.

An open upper deck is also accessible to passengers and is the only area on each ferry where smoking is allowed.

The ferries are all of modular construction with each ferry’s wheelhouse, main cabin, and other structural elements being built as complete, separate components. This enables the ferries to be easily dismantled for transport to anywhere in Russia by rail and then quickly re-assembled within seven days.

The ferries are also ice-capable. Recently completed operational trials on the Moskva showed that the vessels can also easily navigate under mild winter conditions with broken surface ice, though year-round operations are planned for the entire fleet.

The ferries are each fitted with 500kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs that supply power to two 134kW motors. This configuration can deliver a maximum speed of 11.8 knots, a cruising speed of just under 10 knots, and a range of 150 kilometres.

Emperium said the transfer of rotation of electric motors to the propeller is carried out by direct drive. As a propulsion installation, a pulling rotary propeller-steering column with double screws is used. The installation of double pulling screws, with similar power, allows an operator to increase the efficiency of the propulsion system to deliver a slightly higher speed or to reduce energy consumption. This arrangement also provides the ferries with enhanced manoeuvrability necessary for navigating in close quarters.

The batteries themselves have projected service lives of 10 to 12 years and are fitted with safety features such as built-in fire extinguishers and gas vents. Quick-disconnect features allow the batteries to be easily removed for replacement or maintenance.

Some of our readers have expressed disquiet at our publication of reviews and articles describing new vessels from Russia. We at Baird Maritime can understand and sympathise with those views. However, despite the behaviour of the country’s leaders, we believe that the maritime world needs to learn of the latest developments in vessel design and construction there.

The Gulf is full of offshore oil rigs. Here's what to know before fishing there.

T he yellowfin tuna that hung down past Tuan Nguyen’s waist would soon make excellent sashimi, he promised. Never mind what might be available in a restaurant, “nothing can compare to this fresh sashimi,” he added.

Nguyen had been on a private boat way out in the Gulf of Mexico with his friends, sleeping on a beanbag chair if necessary, when he reeled in the enormous tuna. After he posted the evidence last Friday on the Galveston Saltwater Fishing public Facebook group, other members reacted with admiration but also grilled him about where exactly he had encountered such good fortune.

“All I know is it’s 150 [miles], I don’t even ask what rig,” he replied.

Wherever it was, Nguyen’s catch highlighted the powerful allure of fishing near the untold number of offshore oil rigs in the Gulf. Whether operational or not, these hulking structures function as artificial reefs, drawing an entire food chain worth of aquatic life to the surrounding waters. Such seemingly easy pickings are irresistible to many anglers, but there are a few important things they should keep in mind.

For starters, anything past nine miles off the Texas coast is in federal waters, and the rules are a little different. Per Texas Parks and Wildlife , recreational anglers must possess a valid Texas fishing license and saltwater endorsement to keep any fish caught in federal waters. Artificial reefs like the ones created by TPW’s  Rigs to Reefs program are subject to the same regulations as other offshore locations.

Additionally, daily catch limits vary by species, particularly for red snapper, but for yellowfin tuna it’s three fish at least 27 inches long. Detailed information on a host of other species is available on the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council’s website .

Nguyen opted for a private boat, but plenty of deep-sea fishing outfits in the area will gladly ferry aspiring anglers out to offshore rigs. Galveston Party Boats offers deep-sea trips of eight ($100 per adult), 12 ($135), and 30 ($455) hours, traveling up to 200 miles into the Gulf. Wave Dancer Charters has several trips of varying lengths and prices available, including a 36-hour overnight tuna/wahoo trip for $7,200.

Just keep in mind there’s likely to be plenty of competition out there.

“A towering structure, visible for miles around attracts a similar collection of boats and anglers of all different shapes and sizes as well,” advises Galveston Sea Ventures’ website . “On a nice, summer day there may be as many as 10 other boats joining you to fish the same platform since they’re so easily visible. This can create more competition for the number of hungry fish, or stubborn fish that have learned their lesson already to not bite whatever hooks may drop in front of them!”

Consider instead so-called “bottom structures” like rocks or shipwrecks as a potentially less popular, but equally fertile, alternative, it suggested.
