50m Trinity motor yacht Amarula Sun sold

The 50 metre motor yacht Amarula Sun has been sold in-house by Galati Yacht Sales with Captain Albert Rodriguez representing the seller.

Built in aluminium by American shipyard Trinity Yachts , Amarula Sun was delivered in 2008 and has received numerous updates throughout her life. She underwent a mechanical refit in 2014 with electronics and audiovisual upgrades the following year and a full overhaul of her generators in 2018 alongside a complete paint job. 

Amarula Sun offers accommodation for up to 12 guests across nine staterooms with room for a crew of nine. A split-level master suite can be found forward on the main deck offering 180-degree views out to sea. All other guest cabins reside on the lower deck, comprised of three king-sized cabins and one twin.

A classic and highly detailed interior by Patrick Knowles features hand-polished American cherry panelling, maple burl and Bubinga woods throughout, complemented by hand-forged black iron railings with gold accents, intricate marble detailing and hand-painted murals overhead in the main saloon, formal dining area and skylounge.

At the heart of the vessel, the main saloon benefits from a large L-shaped sofa with four plush armchairs while the sky lounge above offers a more relaxed lounging option, complete with a bar, games table and surround sound system for movie nights on board.

Other highlights include a sundeck with an eight-person spa pool, with sun pads, a nearby bar, and there's even a television. All meals can be enjoyed al fresco on the upper aft deck with dining for up to 12 guests.

Power comes from a pair of Caterpillar 3516B-HD diesel engines delivering a cruising speed of 14 knots.

The 164-foot motor yacht AMARULA SUN is amazing. She represents a major challenge in yacht design.  Those are first, creating a look that is distinctive, and second,  creating that look so as not to look outlandish. She is a tri-deck superyacht who hits just the right balance. Her deckhouse side windows are two elongated ovals. These diminish the visual mass of her full-beam superstructure.  Her prominent bow and raised bulwarks make her look much larger.

EXTERIOR FORWARD

Guess what peeks out over the bulwark (top) of the yacht?  It is a semicircle of glass panels!  These offer panoramic vistas from the full-beam, split-level master suite.

THE MASTER SUITE

The raised forward portion has a sleeping area. It includes a king bed. It is literally a throne from which the mega yacht charter client can survey his surroundings. Adjoining areas on the lower level have other features. For example, his and her heads, a dressing/seating area, and an office.

Waverunners are stowed on the foredeck of this Caribbean yacht charter vessel. These conceal behind the bulwarks.  For more ambitious waterborne fun, there are more toys. For instance, a 41-foot tender and a 21-foot custom RIB tender. In addition, a personal submarine with davit in the transom garage.  The submarine is an ideal water toy. In specific, for exploring the shallow waters and blue grottoes during a Bahama yacht charter.

AFT EXTERIOR

Aft is the skylounge. It has panoramic vistas to either side and to the stern. This is through curved sliding-glass panels that open onto an alfresco dining area protected by the bridge-deck overhang. The circular dining table is a hi-lo affair with a twist.  Further, it expands or contracts in diameter. This is thanks to a clever mechanism. This stows a set of leaves under the tabletop in the retracted position.

This spectacular mega yacht was built by Trinity Yachts, one of the United States’ most honored builders of custom superyachts.  After spending the summer offering a Trinity yacht charter in the Bahamas, the vessel will cross the Atlantic Ocean and offer summer Mediterranean yacht charter holidays to Americans as well as European clients.

The luxury charter yacht features interior design by Patrick Knowles Designs.  With five luxurious staterooms, she accommodates 10-12 guests onboard.

The main salon and dining room presents a light and airy atmosphere. Forward is the formal dining table with seating for ten passengers. Aft is a spacious living area with plenty of seating and a full entertainment system. The megayacht features hand-painted ceiling murals – adding to the overall feeling of roominess.

The interior decor is traditional and features raised paneling in American Cherry, Maple Burl, and ubinga with an understated hand-polished finish. The ondeck exterior furniture is elegantly done in teak and woven materials with a deep Java chocolate finish.

SPACIOUS DECKS

The decks on board this yacht charter vessel are also vast and spacious.  The sundeck offers huge sun pads and a swim-up bar.  In addition, a Jacuzzi tub. There is also a grill, exercise equipment, and seating for 12 guests for meals. With a huge plasma TV on the sun deck, charter guests can enjoy a night of movies under the stars.

FORMAL DINING

The upper aft deck provides a formal dining space for ten people. In addition, it has a plasma TV and ample, casual seating.

Shon & Sharyn Craig and 164 (50m) Trinity Superyacht AMARULA SUN

Owners of the 164-foot (50m) luxury superyacht AMARULA SUN, Shon & Sharyn Craig purchased the 2007 Trinity just over two years ago, but their first foray into the world of yachts larger than 82 feet was a well-equipped 2011 130-foot (40m) Westport, which they purchased four years ago. They traded in the newly-built 2011 80 Hatteras for the Westport only eight months after delivery, realizing it was too big for use as a coastal boat. They then found themselves in a go-big-or-go-small predicament.

So, Shon and Sharyn decided to go big…and they haven’t looked back. They had always wanted to visit the coastal cities of the Mediterranean . They also decided to take on their first venture in the charter market. The Westport was a huge risk, but that risk paid off. They were able to, in only the first year, charter the yacht for 10 weeks and spend more than 60 days aboard, visiting ports in Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Sardinia, Corsica and Greece.

The Craigs continued to use, and charter, their Westport in the Caribbean and The Bahamas for several seasons after. They weren’t exactly looking to move on from their Westport, but when the Trinity yacht, formerly MINE GAMES, went on the market, it came with an offer the Craigs couldn’t refuse. Since 2003, there have been 12 boats named AMARULA SUN, four of which — including the Trinity, a 41-foot Bahama, a 68-foot Princess and a 70-foot Viking — the Craigs currently own.

Shon is capable of and insured to operate boats of 82-feet and smaller. He and Sharyn routinely operate the 68-foot Princess and the Bahama 41 on their own for extended cruises or just out to anchor. Annually, they compete in half a dozen fishing tournaments around the Gulf Coast, East Coast and The Bahamas. This past season, they caught the largest blue marlin (605lbs) in the Bermuda Triple Crown.

Shon and Sharyn are probably on the Trinity at least 10 weeks a year, in between charters, and have cruised much of the Caribbean, The Bahamas and the East Coast of the US. You could definitely classify these owners as “very determined boaters.” They love the water and are at home on the ocean. It’s not uncommon to find them out on the hook in a cove on the leeside of the Anclote Key island, which is located less than three miles from, and within sight of, their house — and they may stay out there for two or three days.

The Trinity AMARULA SUN has a special appeal to the Craigs. Although Shon and Sharyn love to cook for themselves, having a world-class chef on board provides for a pleasant surprise at every meal. After a great day of touring, watersports, exploring, socializing or just plain “hanging out,” Shon and Sharyn relish their options: to dress up for an elegant dinner at the artistically designed and decorated salon table, to have an intimate candlelight meal at the settee on the skydeck or to just throw on some pajamas and have dinner on the couch and watch a great movie in the skylounge. They turn in to the soothing sounds of the water lapping against the hull. After, in the night or early morning, the captain has pulled anchor and motored to the next destination, they wake up to the sights and sounds of a new port, or a new island, and their amazing vacation continues.

In addition to visiting many countries in Europe, the Craigs have traveled to St. Vincent and the Grenadine islands, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico and many other beautiful destinations. But their favorites are the BVIs and the Greek islands. They prefer spending the majority of their nights on anchor rather than staying in port; however, they have thoroughly enjoyed amazing and unique ports all over the world.

The 164-foot AMARULA SUN is the second yacht that the Craigs have put in a charter program and they have had great success, first in the Caribbean and then in the Med. Chartering has given them the opportunity to have the boat in desired destinations, semi-funded by the charterer.

The Craigs have a flexible schedule and usually are in a position to pick up and travel to the yacht when she doesn’t have a charter on board. They also enjoy the fact that a few charters a year keep the yacht from sitting in port for too long. This allows the yacht’s systems to remain active and the crew to keep well trained and sharp. Shon says, “I guess you could say that I think the boat and crew are better off active and in use than sitting dormant at a slip in a marina. For those that can only use their boats 10 to 12 weeks a year, chartering 10 to 12 weeks a year is a perfect solution to whatever ails you.”

Super yacht Amarula Sun accommodates up to twelve guests onboard in her five luxurious suites and staterooms. The lower level of the master suite is a lounge with forty-two inch plasma TV as well as his and hers en-suite bathroom with tub and thirty-two inch plasma TV. The VIP suite lies starboard aft and holds a king-size bed, vanity, desk and en-suite bathroom with double sinks. Two staterooms hold queen-size beds while the third stateroom holds twin beds: all guest rooms have en-suite bathrooms and TV’s. A crew of ten is also able to be accommodated in five cabins.

The tri-deck layout of Amarula Sun allows for extensive outdoor areas as well as a general feeling of space throughout the vessel, which is a true luxury when out at sea. Both the main salon and dining room are open plan, which help create a light and airy atmosphere, while the formal dining table for ten guests lies forward. Aft is a capacious living area boasting a full entertainment system and plenty of comfortable seating. Hand-painted ceiling murals throughout help add to the feeling of space and creative elegance.

The decks of Amarula Sun are vast and spacious: the Sun Deck has immense sun pads and a swim up bar next to the Jacuzzi as well as barbecue, exercise equipment and a dining area for twelve guests. A huge plasma screen TV offers the lovely experience of a cinema under the stars. The Upper Aft Deck has a formal dining are for ten people as well as another plasma TV and ample seating for relaxed entertainment. The Skylounge boasts hand painted ceiling murals and exudes a warm feel with its comfortable interiors and state of the art entertainment centre. Opening out onto a covered aft deck through two electric sliding doors, this aft Skylounge deck holds a powered hi-low round table with expanding leaves, perfect for an impromptu card game under the night sky.

Her new interiors now showcase a bright and contemporary scheme of cherry woods complimented by a neutral palette of creams and taupes that flows throughout her living spaces and into her generous accommodation, which includes a vast split-level master suite with glorious 180-degree views and private terrace area.

There are a further 2 double cabins and 2 twins with Pullman berths on her lower deck, presenting fantastic versatility for a variety of charter configurations.
