The Sundance Marina and Dry Storage area is Outstanding ! I have kept my 24ft Sea Ray there now going on 4 years. Excellent service when requesting to have the boat moved to water. Professional Staff always available to accommodate your boat needs, whether to have your boat moved to a work rack in the yard or have qualified technicians provide routine maintenance or troubleshooting an engine problem.

At first Geri was nice and pleasant but that quickly changed once I had an issue mooring my new boat there. If you want to keep your boat nice I would recommend looking elsewhere.

This is the place to keep your boat!! I don't have to fight the boat ramp and worry about my truck getting its windows destroyed from thieves!! They know your name and your boat is handled with care! They treat you with respect!! They have free ice for your cooler!! call or text and your boat is in the water ready to go! very reasonable price for this type of service!!

I have purchased 3 (technically 4) boats from Sundance between 2016 and now. In all purchases my salesman was Rob, I highly recommend reaching out to him. I started with a Jeanneau 28' Merry Fisher but decided I wanted the Volvo IPS system and upgraded to the NC11. Before I took delivery on that boat I saw the Leader 46 and and decided I loved the features and interior and decided to do the crazy thing and move up. And I always said if they had that model with a fly bridge I'd want it so when Jeanneau came out with the Prestige 460 Fly I upgraded to that in late 2017. In all cases Rick, Sundance owner made the deal so I wouldn't lose money and Rob had some great features added to the Prestige for me. When I had difficultly getting insurance for the 46' due to my lack of experience and captain's license (which I discovered the day before I was to take delivery) Rob instantly connected me with a mariners insurance company that took care of me with good rates. Rob has always been willing to take us out and help us learn different aspects of boating which has been a lifesaver for me as a new boater. I don't get the negative reviews here, but I can personally testify that, having bought 3 boats from Sundance in recent years, if I buy the next boat of my dreams (I've already picked it out), I will be back with Sundance. I did look at many other boats and dealers prior to learning about Sundance at a boat show, but they were either all out to just sell a boat and/or their boats weren't what I was looking for. Also, the collective knowledge of boating in general and their lack of pushing me to a decision or any specific boat made the experience very good. I have personally dealt with the Portland and Seattle teams and am very positive on both. I highly recommend stopping up in Seattle and seeing Rob if you are in the market for a new or used boat.

About that time again. No better river. No better place on the river. Owner knows his stuff. Staff is a great particularly when my kids mess things up!!! Thee boats ten years there! Pure PNW! Love it. Can't wait for the Boatel to be rebuilt!

About that time again!

I ordered a boat from them 8/2020. Knew the 6 month timeline going into it, but it took nearly 2 months, multiple requests and a call to Jeanneau North America to get an order confirmation after I had already deposited money with the order. Follow through was weak throughout the entire transaction. Boat arrived 2/2021 and Jarod did an excellent job with the after market items I requested. Bookkeeper billed my credit card for the extras and then two weeks later charged me for somebody else's extras too using the credit card number I provided previously. Anchor package was missing and now 3 months later it is still missing. Apparently my anchor, chain and rope have to come from Europe??? Couple other minor punchlist items need to be solved but there is zero follow through. I funded 2 weeks ago but still haven't received any formal paperwork on the transaction, no warranty documentation, my boat registration hasn't been completed and I have no registration on the boat trailer that was included in the package. John our salesman is a nice guy. Very personable. Unfortunately his team is letter him and us down.

My boat was destroyed when they building burnt down and they still send me bills for slip rental!?! They do not answer their phone.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Turkish director Zeki Demirkubuz drama Life scooped the top Golden Bee award for Best Feature Film at Malta ’s second Mediterrane Film Festival over the weekend.

This year’s selection was overseen by Italian film festival veteran Teresa Cavina, who pulled together a line-up of 45 works with Mediterranean basin connections, 15 of which were in the main Competition.

Last year, the newspaper heavily criticized the event for allegedly splashing cash on business class fights and luxury hotels for actors, directors and journalists as well as a lavish black-tie closing event, fronted by UK star David Walliams .

Replying to fresh questions from the newspaper, Malta Film Commission head Johann Grech said the event was part of his org’s overall strategy for drawing international film and TV productions to the country, which has carved itself a place as a key Mediterranean shooting destination through its 40% rebate.

The festival, he said, was “an essential means of attracting investment to the country and film decision-makers to the island”.

Unfolding mainly in the Maltese capital of Valletta, this year’s edition did seem more substantial than its predecessor.

All the competition titles had previously world premiered in other festivals. Life debuted at the Istanbul-set Filmekimi festival last October, and also played in Rotterdam earlier this year.

The drama revolves around a young woman who flees her home to get out of a forced engagement, with the jilted fiancé then attempting to track her down in a bid to understand the future wife he hardly knew.

Competition screenings in the Eden Cinema complex in Valletta’s neighboring town of St Julian’s were sparsely attended but directors, cast and crew who touched down in Malta still appeared to appreciate the extra exposure and experience, with most sessions generating lively, intimate Q&As at the end.

The film had extra resonance in Malta, which is one of the first ports of call for migrant boats trying to get to Europe from North Africa but has also been accused of declining calls for assistance from vessels in distress.

Anderson went on to win the Mediterrane’s Golden Bee for Best Director, while Al-Massri was feted with Best Actress.

In other prizes, Palestinian director Mahdi Fleifel won the Jury’s Choice prize for To A Land Unknown , which world premiered in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in May.

France’s Stéphane Brizé and Marie Drucker won Best Screenplay for Out of Season , the Netherlands’ Myrte Beltman scooped Best Production Design for her work on Bosnian director Ena Sendijarević’s Sweet Dreams, while Best Cinematography went to Carlos Alfonso Corral for The Damned by Italian director Roberto Minervini.

The jury was composed of UK director Jon S. Baird, U.S. casting director Margery Simkin, Canadian-Maltese director Mario Philip Azzopardi, UK art director Nathan Crowley, Uruguayan cinematographer Pedro Luque, Canadian director Richie Mehta and U.S. director Tim Miller.

Outside of the main Competition, the festival also launched a new open-air venue in Valletta’s central Saint George square, where screenings of The Man Who Fell To Earth (which was part of a David Bowie tribute), Kind of Kindness , Jurassic World: Dominion  (scenes of which were shot in the same spot) enjoyed packed screenings with a young local crowd.

There was also an industry program featuring panels on topics such as screenwriting, distribution, co-production as well as masterclasses by Greek film editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, the long-time collaborator of Yorgos Lanthimos, and UK director Mike Leigh .       

The festival closed Sunday with an awards ceremony at the historic Fort Manoel, once again fronted by Walliams and at which Leigh and veteran production coordinator Rita Galea, co-founder of Maltese production services company Latina Pictures, were feted with Career Achievement and Lifetime Achievement awards respectively.
