Catch the luck by its hair on your yacht charter in Trogir!

Visit the millennia-old Benedictine monastery of St.Nicholas, the protector of Sailors and children. If that is not reason enough to visit, how about if you get a chance to familiarize yourself with one of the most beautiful artefacts of ancient Greeks – a relief of Greek god Kairos, discovered in Trogir.

According to legend, Kairos was the youngest son of the king of all the gods – Zeus. Kairos was described as a young man, known for his unique hairstyle – a long hair falling over his face.

He would appear once in his lifetime on the streets of ancient Tragurion (Trogir) and swiftly move between people giving them a chance to catch a strand of his hair. Catching his hair was almost impossible because his head was shaved from behind.

If he passed you by, that meant a lucky opportunity was gone, since Kairos represented good luck and unique opportunities.

Even today, his relief, preserved from the 4th century, in the church of St.Nicholas inspires curiosity and bravery, provoking people to try to achieve impossible dreams..

Eat healthy organic food on your yacht charter holiday

In front of the old town, near the vicinity of your yacht charter in Trogir, you will find a truly atmospheric place – the Trogir town market. Here you can find a vast selection of fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and freshly caught fish, straight from the sea.

You can ask your yacht chef to do the provisioning here, while you try out local delicacies such as olive oils, honey from the hinterlands, fresh meat, cheese, prosciutto, dried fruits and local spices, or homemade wines and fruit liqueurs as well as the many other traditional delicacies.

Cruise to nearby Čiovo island and have a picnic in the lavender fields

The nearby island of Čiovo will amaze you with its secluded bays and crystalline sea, perfect for a day filled with fun with your jet skis and jet packs. If you are up for something a little less adventurous, Čiovo will not leave you disappointed.

This island is well-known for its flower fields, and landscapes full of immortelle flowers, rosemary, and olive groves. Ask your yacht chef to prepare a picnic basket and a bottle of champagne,  and head out for a picnic in the lavender fields.

Imagine the scent of that much lavender, while you enjoy the finger food complimented with a spectacular vista on Trogir and its nearby archipelago. Do not forget to toast to life while you enjoy your memorable yacht charter experience on Čiovo island .

After a pleasant picnic, refresh yourself in numerous bays on Čiovo’s southern side. Also, we suggest visiting Duboka Uvala (Deep Cove), a pebble bay with the crystalline sea, which will tempt you to jump right in. On the shores of this bay, you can lounge in the Laganini Beach Bar, a great place to recharge your batteries with a colourful cocktail during hot summer days.

Here you can rent a double lounger and completely relax and admire the sea views and enjoy the utter hedonism complemented by the light sea breeze and scent of the salt in the air.

The second bay worth a visit is Duga Uvala (Long Cove). Although its name is not the most creative one, this lagoon is exceptionally beautiful and full of unspoiled nature, just a short walk away from Duboka Uvala.

While on Čiovo, nature lovers can enjoy hiking under the shade of trees near the village of Slatine. Along your relaxing hike, you will come across the carved path that will lead you to the small island church, worth a visit – the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Prizidnica from 1546. There you will witness a spectacular sea view, courtesy of the majestic cliffs high above the sea.

The old core of Split consists of a Roman palace, built by the emperor Diocletian , as his summer getaway location; the beauty and the intricacy of the palace earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list .

If you decide to stop by the Pakleni islands,  you could experience truly untouched nature or cruise straight toward Korčula island , disembarking in the charming Korčula town . Known to possess one of the most well-preserved and beautiful historic old city cores in Dalmatia, this town will amaze you with its medieval architecture.

Often dubbed `Little Dubrovnik`, Korčula has many things to offer to casual sightseers, as well as history buffs. These include sites like medieval fortifications, churches, monasteries, palaces and buildings,  as well as the birthplace of Marco Polo , all made from fine white stone.

There are still even older remains, left by ancient Greek settlers, who first inhabited this beautiful island.

Let the beauty of nature dazzle all your senses, as you stroll on hiking trails that criss-cross the surface of Mljet National Park. The coup de grace are two saltwater lakes; the centre of the bigger lake also hides a Franciscan monastery, which is easily reached by kayaks.

Trogir is one of the oldest settlements in Dalmatia, where charter guests feel transported centuries back in time. The port city is located in the sunniest and warmest area of the Croatian Adriatic and is a popular starting point for a sailing trip. The base in Trogir offers high quality standards at fair prices as well as the best all-round service at a high-quality level.

Sailing from Trogir: General information about the port city

A sailing trip from the Pitter Yachtcharter base in Trogir can be combined with a city trip. Trogir has preserved its medieval town centre and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The old town is situated on a peninsula, which was separated from the mainland by a canal in Roman times. Colourful hustle and bustle in the streets and alleys, numerous bars, cafés, restaurants and souvenir shops make the old town of Trogir lively.

For charter guests interested in culture, there are several sights in Trogir:

  • City wall and city gate
  • Kamerlengo Fortress
  • Cathedral of St. Lawrence
  • Bell tower of St. Sebastian
  • Cipiko Palace

Trogir is connected to the island of Čiovo via a bridge. There you will find secluded bays for swimming and relaxing. Various water sports are also offered on the island. On the island of Čiovo, the villages of Arbanija and Slatin are particularly recommended. East of Trogir is Split, the economic and cultural centre of Dalmatia.

Sailing enthusiasts with less experience or families can discover the Dalmatian islands with their countless bays on a sailing boat or a catamaran with a charter crew.

During these months, temperatures are pleasant at around 24 degrees and there is hardly any rainfall. With a yacht charter crew or skipper, you can experience an unforgettable sailing trip to the Kornati islands or south to the Dalmatian islands.

There are other beaches and secluded coves in the vicinity.

Trogir is a small town and harbour at the end of the Kastelanski Bay, just 27 kilometres from Split. Many beautiful beaches are located in and around Trogir, especially around Seget and in the Saldun Bay. In the town of Trogir, there is the ACI Marina which is very important for nautical tourism in Croatia.

Two millennia of stormy history have been written on this tiny islet straddling the isthmus between the gentle hills and fertile plain on the mainland and the coast of the island Ciovo.

Its first pages were written long ago by the Illyrians, Greeks and Romans who built the town; it was continued in the 7th century by the Croats, who developed their autonomous municipality, whether under their own or foreign sovereigns (the Byzantine Empire, Hungary, Venice, France, Austria) into one of the most beautiful towns on the Adriatic coast.

Trogir is a treasury of art, or as the famous Berenson puts it - "Town-Museum". Ancient Kairos, Roman fragments and inscriptions, and rustic early Croatian art will all compete for your attention.

However, that is not the end of Trogir's treasures there is still the Romanesque portal of Master Radovan to visit, the Gothic and Renaissance masterpieces of Gojkovic, Alesi, Duknovic and Nikola Firentinac to admire. Then there is the coolness of the sturdy walls and bastions to enjoy, the lush beauty of the cathedral, the mystique of the streets and vaults, the harmony of colour and form of the paintings, miniatures and carving.

In the quiet of the museums, treasuries, art collections and old libraries, amidst the monuments in stone, and the old narrow streets you can follow the continuity of life and man`s creativity in this Adriatic climate where the sun and sea, stone and nature, have merged with life.

ACI Marina Trogir, Croatia

ACI Marina Trogir, Croatia

Angelina yacht charter Togir, Croatia - ACI Marina Trogir

Central Dalmatia's Base Trogir is on the Adriatic Sea's eastern coast. Trogir's ancient town center, which has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is located on an islet between the coast and the island of Ciovo. The industries of shipbuilding and tourism are essential to the local economy.

Trogir's ACI marina is located on Ciovo island, directly over the street from Trogir. With its "Tourist Flower – Quality for Croatia" medal, ACI marina Trogir was ranked third best small marina in the Adriatic Sea in 2017 by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. Across from Trogir's town center on the island of Ciovo, you'll find the ACI marina and yacht club. A 100-meter-wide canal separates them. Because the ACI marina in Trogir has been there for quite some time (it is not a new marina), there is less room to move than in the SCT, but you will have no trouble finding our offices.

Parking & Shopping in Trogir Marina

Parking is available in the marina for a constant security monitoring fee. Marina parking is expensive. €10/day; €60/week for a car. Bus: €20 a day; €100 a week. Trogir's shopping opportunities are excellent, as are the city's public transit alternatives. Supermarkets, for example, are available on the mainland. There's also a massive fruit and vegetable market just before the bridge to the historic center.

Trogir's historic core occupies a tiny island wedged in between the Croatian mainland and the nearby island of Ciovo. Sailing is not recommended in the waterway north of the town since the water is just 2 meters deep. The town is connected with the shore by an old stone bridge and a modern wooden bridge to the west. Another bridge connects the ancient city to the island of Ciovo, home to the ACI marina (2.80 m clearance). Ships from Kastela Bay approach from the west between Ciovo and Celica Rock because they cannot pass underneath the bridge. The green lighthouse on Cape Cubrijan (Fl G 2s 8m 4M) provides a recognizable landmark, located at 43° 30.7′ N 16° 14.6′ E. Approaching from the east, the route is indicated by a series of red and green buoys.

The passageway beneath the bridge has a depth of 4.5 meters. Sailing is not recommended in the waterway north of town since the water is just 2 meters deep.

The UNESCO town of Trogir

Trogir Offers the Best Medieval Creations

While there are ubiquitous medieval landmarks in other Croatian towns, especially along the coast of Adriatic, Trogir has the unique distinction of being located along the Dalmatian coast, an important sea route for yacht charter sailors and holidaymakers looking for a nostalgic experience while sailing through the coast on board their yachts.

Among the important historical landmarks that you should check out when you spend your holiday vacation in Trogir are the Saint Dominic Church, St. Lawrence Cathedral, the old Clock Tower, the Cipiko Palace, the Land Gate, St. Mark’s Tower and the castle of Kamerlengo.

A distinct feature that makes Trogir stand out from other top charter yacht destinations in the region is the seamless integration of modern trappings into the existing medieval landscape and old structures. This means that you will see shops, art galleries and cafes lining the old narrow streets of Trogir. This gives you access to all the things that you want to have in an ideal holiday destination without having to leave the confines of the main street within the old walls of the city which was erected during the 15th century.

While these important landmarks may be enough for most of us to spend most of our time in this top Croatian destination, we have to remember that beyond this great sights, Trogir is also known for stunning beaches, festive and lively nightlife and amazing cuisine.

Trogir is renowned for its excellent local cuisine. This old city boasts of the best local restaurants and other food outlets. Majority of the delectable treats in these local restaurants are based on seafood and meat which are usually grilled with authentic Mediterranean sauces. There are more than 100 restaurants scattered in various places within the old city, but the best ones are those that line the city’s waterfront.

Of course, one of the pleasant surprises of Trogir is its animated and action-packed nightlife. If you are looking for a place that you can have the best of both worlds, then Trogir is definitely your best bet on your upcoming luxury yacht charter holiday in Croatia. Come and enjoy a crewed yacht experience in Trogir.

Trogir Yacht Charter Enquiry

HI Reia - Everything was great thanks, Croatia was gorgeous, the weather and islands were amazing! The boat worked out really well, we ended up staying in Split overnight and then went to Trogir for a bit , then up to Skradin for the night, went to Krka National park the next day to hang out at the falls. After that we headed to Vis and Bisevo to see the blue caves, then off to Vela Luka for the night and the next day headed to Korcula, next stop was Hvar for the day and finally on the way home we stopped in at Bol on the Island of Brac before we finished in Split...... it was great, we saw loads, relaxed and got a nice tan! The skipper worked out well, he knew the locals and all the little places to go so it was very easy for us. Thanks so much for all your help, you have been great. Trogir | Highlights of Seaside Splendor

With its well-preserved medieval architecture and stunning natural scenery, Trogir is a fantastic destination to escape the crowds and soak up some authentic Croatian culture .

trogir riva 1200

Where is Trogir?

Trogir is just 17 miles west of Split . Situated on a small island connected to the mainland by a bridge, Trogir is nestled in the heart of the Adriatic Sea and is a popular stop for luxury yacht charters exploring the Dalmatian coast. The town’s central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the nearby islands, bays, and hidden coves scattered along the coastline.

Brief History

Trogir is a beautiful medieval town situated on the coast of Croatia. Greek colonists founded it in the 3rd century BC and later became part of the Roman Empire. In the 9th century, The Venetians took over the town, who built many of the town’s churches, palaces, and fortifications.

Throughout the centuries, Trogir experienced numerous battles and occupations. The Hungarian and Croatian kings, the Ottomans, and the French occupied it. However, despite its tumultuous past, Trogir managed to preserve its historical and cultural heritage. Today, it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.

Places to See

Trogir is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, charming narrow streets, and scenic waterfront. There are many places to see, including natural and historical landmarks. Here are some of the top places you should visit:

  • Cathedral of St. Lawrence. This impressive cathedral is the centerpiece of Trogir’s old town and uniquely blends Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The intricate carvings on the cathedral’s portal, rose window, and bell tower are remarkable.
  • Kamerlengo Fortress . This well-preserved fortress was built in the 15th century and was a defensive structure against the Ottoman Empire. You can explore the fortress and enjoy the stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and surrounding islands.
  • Trogir Green Market . This lively outdoor market is perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture and tasting fresh produce, cheeses, and other local delicacies.
  • The Island of Ciovo. This small island is just a short distance from Trogir’s mainland and boasts picturesque beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush Mediterranean vegetation.
  • St. Dominic Monastery . This monastery is one of the oldest buildings in Trogir and houses a fantastic collection of medieval artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, and religious relics.

Trogir

Things to Do

Trogir offers many activities you to enjoy during your luxury yacht charter. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Explore the Old Town . Thanks to its well-preserved medieval architecture, Trogir’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through narrow cobblestone streets lined with historic buildings and stop at one of the many cafes or shops.
  • Visit the St. Lawrence Cathedral . This 13th-century cathedral is a stunning example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The cathedral’s bell tower offers fantastic city and sea views.
  • Relax on the Beach . Trogir’s coastline boasts crystal clear waters and pristine beaches. Spend an afternoon lounging on the sand or swimming in the refreshing water.
  • Enjoy Water Sports . Trogir’s waters are perfect for water sports such as jet skiing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. If you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at parasailing or windsurfing.

Overall, Trogir is a must-visit destination during your luxury yacht charter in Croatia. A visit here is sure to be one of the highlights of your vacation, thanks to its stunning architecture, beautiful beaches, and wide range of activities.

In Trogir, just 10 minutes from Split airport, our 1 st and largest base is found. The town of Trogir is a destination worth visiting no matter if you have a yacht charter starting from here, or if you are sailing by. The town has been around for more than 2000 years, and you can really feel it in both the old stunning buildings as well as the entire city planning.

If you take a short 10-minute walk from the old town you will end up in Marina Trogir, our home. Our marina is the latest addition in the old town and is part of a renewal of the old shipyard in town. In the marina you will find our office as well as most of our fleet.

The Sailing are

Just outside of Trogir you have the central Adriatic archipelago. Plenty of world-famous destinations for sailors and well known for its variety of anything from posh to cosy options. You will not be alone in this sailing area but it’s a good reason for it as well. It is as good as it gets!

Travel to Trogir

By Airplane

Given the very close distance to Split airport, arriving with airplane is the most common solution. From the airport we will assist you with a fast and reliable transfer to our base.

Driving to Trogir is not a bad solution given the newer highway A1 that winds its way thru Croatia.  If you want a more scenic route while driving down from Europe the costal road is a great option as well, where you will be able to stop for a swim or lunch in all the small villages you will pass by.

When you have arrived in Marina Trogir there are great parking facilities for you to use which has surveillance 24/7 just a few meters from where our bouts are docked.

By Public transport

Taking a train or bus from central Europe is certainly possible as well most of the routs goes thru Zagreb and onwards to Split from where you can take a local bus or a taxi to Trogir.

Sailing from Trogir

Trogir has such a beautiful medieval old town centre that they designated the whole of this small island as a UNESCO world heritage site, and there's something magical about starting and ending a holiday here.  If exploring the narrow cobbled streets and marvelling at the architecture doesn't do much for you, there's also forests and beaches to delve into!  Truth be told, given the glorious sunshine, you'll enjoy almost everything you do.

There's lots of different options for sailing from Trogir, and plenty to see or do on the way - from the majestic hill-top castle looking over the party town of Hvar, to the natual beauty of the Blue cave just off Vis, sampling cocktails in a secret bay off Paklinski Otoci, or trying the local food and honey liquers in Maslinica. We can help you find and book your ideal yacht or catamaran, with one of our trusted Charter Partners - just get in touch or search in the pink box with live prices and availability !

6-day Sailing Itinerary from Trogir

This itinerary takes in the best parts of the sailing area near Trogir. In total, it comes in at 112 nM for the week, and is a great outline for your own voyage. You can easily do more or less sailing than this itinerary, and there’s lots of anchorages and bays that you’ll sail past which might warrant a stop-off for lunch or a quick swim.

Trogir - 6 day sailing itinerary

The longest day on this itinerary is over 30 nM (if you visit the blue cave at Bisevo), but most days are 13 – 18 nM, which should mean about 4-5 hours of sailing a day, with ample time for stopping en-route, to explore the start or end point, or do the shopping. On average, you can expect to be making at least 4-5 knots in a charter yacht or catamaran.

Milna

The first day is fairly straight forward as you’ll follow all the other yachts South-west away from Trogir, either beating into the prevailing wind or reasonably close-hauled. Once you’re out of the Splitski channel, you can point the bow to South-east, and the island on the nose of the boat in the distance is where you’ll be spending the night.

Milna is a great port of call for the first night - it’s a charming little town, full of historic buildings, including a bell-tower which dates from when Milna was part of the Venetian empire (this marina used to be called ‘the bay of a thousand ships’ when they used to do ship-building here), and holds a trove of paintings by Venetian masters.

Paklinski Otoki

If you have time on your side, there’s an unnamed bay on the near side of south of Hvar island which you can stop at as you sail by – unbelievably, it is not connected to any roads, and looks like a sleepy little bay, but there’s two bars there (which also serve food), and it’s an optimal place to test the anchor and have a bit to eat.

Paklinski Otoci is one of our favourite bays in the whole of the Mediterranean, and it really is a sailors paradise. Pick up a mooring buoy for the night (get there early in peak season) and the whole bay is surrounded by bars and restaurants service everything from local dishes with local beer to lobster and champagne cocktails. There’s a special atmosphere amongst all the sailors, and this is one of the few experiences you can only have if you have your own yacht – enjoy it!

Vis

From Paklinski Otoci, you’re reaching across the wind to bear South-west towards the isle of Vis. If you made a late start, you can go to Vis directly (it’s only about 10 nM). More intrepid adventurers will stick with the itinerary, as we’re headed to the ethereal blue cave of Bisevo, where a trick of the light makes the water in a cave (which you can swim in) a crazy neon blue colour. It’s a magical place to go, and thoroughly recommended.

If you decide to go to Bisevo, the cave is probably easiest seen in two groups, with someone remaining on board your yacht at all times, so that you can just mill around the area instead of having to anchor up or find somewhere to moor. Thesedays access is only via the dedicated tour boats, and you need to buy tickets on land and wait your turn.  Then head back and switch over. Don’t forget to take some photos.

From Bisevo, head North-east to follow the South side of Vis right the way back around to Vis (or stopping at Rukovac if the wind allows). Vis itself has a long and bloody history, having been inhabited since 4BC by the ancient Greeks (and there are still ruins from this time), followed by the Romans, Venetians, Ottomans, the Austrians, the French, and even the British (who have a war cemetery here). The island is also notable for being the inhabited island which is furthest from mainland Croatia, and for it’s own species of palm trees (which are rare in this part of the world).

Hvar

When you were talking to friends about coming to Croatia, Hvar might well have been one of the towns that they will have heard of – that’s because it had something of a reputation for being a hedonistic resort a few years back, but don’t worry, things have calmed down a bit since then. Hvar is now known as much for its lively nightlife as it is for being something of a foodie capital, with fine dining restaurants a plenty – some with just four or eight seats who promise a gastronomic experience.

The high point of trip to Hvar – both metaphorically and literally – is the view from Hvar castle. It’s situated a fair trek up at the top of the hill, but is well worth getting sweated up for. From here, you can find a wonderful panorama of the clear blue sea, the surrounding islands, all complemented by other holidaymakers’ yachts and catamarans.

Maslinica

Maslinica is the only port on the western side of the isle of Solta, nestled amongst pine forests and sandy beaches. Originally founded as a holiday home for a rich family, the island kept getting attacked by pirates so the owners built both a church and a castle here, to help protect them one way or another.

Nowadays, Maslinica is a tourist town, and has won awards for being the best tourist destination in the Mediterranean with less than 1,000 inhabitants. It is most famous for its honey, schnapps, and for making the tastiest wine in Croatia.

Trogir

There is only two places to get fuel in Trogir, and it gets mad busy on a Friday afternoon, so either head there early or be prepared to wait in line for an hour or so whilst you watch the organised chaos and jostle for position before filling up and heading for home.

If you haven’t had time to explore Trogir properly, then now is also a good time to do it – it has a great old town with atmospheric narrow streets and a great range of waterfront bars and restaurants. There’s also a nightclub, if you want to celebrate getting the ship back safely with some heavy beats.

Someone will be along to inspect the boat before you check-out, and then you’ll be stepping off it for one last time, hopefully with a heart full of the beautiful Croatian islands, new or renewed friendships, a smile on your face, and with a sense of tranquility that can only come from sun, sea and sailing for a week.

Sailing Conditions

Croatia Sailing - Wind Conditions

During summer, winds are traditionally between Force 3 and Force 6, and are oddly reliable - in that you can expect winds from 9am to mid-day, then there’s a short break (where local sailors say the winds go to have their lunch), before resurging in earnest from about 2-6pm.

The winds are in-part powered by the sun - the sun warms the land, so air is pulled off the sea, so the prevailing winds are towards the land, and the hotter the sun is the stronger the wind.

Sailing out of season is a bit less predictable, as there’s no such thing as a prevailing wind – they can come down from the mountains to the North, or arrive with tropical storms from the South. Rest assured that most weather systems pass within a few days.

Trogir - Average Temperature

Trogir has been a major port town for centuries – even the Romans bought ships in and out of this bay – so it is not surprising that there are numerous marinas in the area.

There are three which are principally used for holiday charters, which means that on Sunday morning and on Friday evening there can be a lot of traffic in the water, as the boats come and go. - the ACI Marina is just across the water from the UNESCO world heritage Old Town is the better established, further along the coast there is the SCT marina, and a little further still out from the town, the Baotic marina is more modern and includes a swimming pool and very elegant bar/restaurant amongst its facilities. All offer wifi and the usual in-marina facilities, and are within easy walking distance to historic old town.

If you're staying in the area before or after your charter, we can recommend these places that are close to the marina: Hotel Trogir or Domus Maritima .

The ACI Marina is just across the water from the UNESCO world heritage Old Town and is within easy walking distance to historic old town.

ACI Marina, Trogir

SCT Marina, Trogir

SCT Marina is located next door to the ACI Marina, and is very convenient for walking into Trogir Old Town.

SCT Marina, Trogir

Marina Baotic, Trogir

Marina Baotic isn't technically in Trogir (it's listed as being in Seget Donji), but it's only a short walk from Trogir, and is also connected by a water taxi.

The Marina was only built very recently, adding more capacity to the hugely-popular SCT / ACI Marinas, and has modern facilities and it's own cafe, wifi, estate agent and min-market.

Yacht charter Trogir

Croatia is one of the most popular sailing destinations among European sailors. On a yacht charter Trogir you start in Central Dalmatia , centrally located on the Croatian Adriatic Sea .

Already in the third century BC there was a Greek settlement on the territory of today's Trogir. In the 13th century the town had great economic importance and many of the buildings from this and other settlement periods are still preserved today. It is not without reason that the entire old town of Trogir has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Embark on a journey through time, starting with the crossing of the bridge to the island of Čiovo . The island is enclosed by the medieval city walls. You enter the old town through the land gate from the late Renaissance period. The Kamerlengo fortress still rises against the sea side. St. Lawrence Cathedral also dates from the 13th century, and its main western portal is considered the most important work of Romanesque-Gothic style in all of Croatia - a must-see for lovers of church architecture. John Paul II Square, where the cathedral is also located, is the vibrant center of the old town and has even served as a movie set. In Winnetou III, Winnetou and Old Shatterhand ride across the square, which there belongs to the town of Santa Fe.

The marinas in Trogir are located in the immediate vicinity of the historic city center and the southern, palm-lined waterfront. The latter again radiates a bit more tranquility and invites you to stroll. The cafés and restaurants located here are ideal for a short stop or even a convivial evening.

Divers can rent equipment in Trogir or go on organized dives. There are several wrecks in the area where diving is permitted.

How to get there : Trogir is located only 5 kilometers from the international airport in Split. This airport is served by flights from many European cities. You can reach Trogir from the airport quickly by bus, by cab or you can order a transit beforehand via our customer area. Also by car you can still travel well to Trogir. From Munich it is about 850 kilometers.

Central Dalmatia - Islands as far as the wind takes you

1 week: Trogir - Hvar - Vis - Biševo - Korčula - Lastovo - Pelješac - Trogir

2 weeks: Trogir - Vis - Korčula - Mijet - Šipan - Lopud - Koločep - Dubrovnik - Pelješac - Korčula - Šolta/Brač - Trogir

If you prefer it a little quieter, you can stop on the island of Hvar. Here you will find equally beautiful, perhaps not as extraordinary beaches as on the sister islands of Vis and Brač. The eponymous town of Hvar on the island has earned the nickname "The St. Tropez of Croatia". Sights from centuries past and a wide range of cultural activities offer plenty to do for a day ashore. In the theater of Hvar, which was founded as early as 1612, performances still take place today. Especially in May during the theater days a wide program is offered. A special feature, which is registered as an intangible UNESCO world cultural heritage, is the procession "Za križen" which takes place annually in the night from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday.

After this excursion into the cultural landscape we go back to the beach. To a sandy beach! On the island of Vis in the bay of Stonica you will find a small piece of Croatia with Caribbean flair. A shallow sandy beach, turquoise water, palm trees and a beach bar. Everything you need for a relaxing afternoon. If you want to spend your day on the beach a little more quietly and undisturbed, you will also find the perfect conditions for a day in the refreshing water in one of the many small bays around the island. The sandy beaches are rather rare in Croatia, but the sea on the pebble beaches is very clear and offers a variety of blue and turquoise tones.

The island of Brač is only a few nautical miles from Trogir. It is very popular with windsurfers. The beach Zlatni Rat in the south of the island is particularly impressive. It stretches almost 500 meters into the sea. Its brilliant white pebbles stand out clearly against the blue tones of the water and the green of the surrounding vegetation. Not only a pleasure to swim in, it is also extremely impressive to the eye. Due to its beauty, the beach is very popular and always well visited.

On Biševo there is one of the most popular destinations in the region - the blue cave. It is accessible from the sea by boats, but access by private boats is prohibited, so you have to join one of the guided tours. Nevertheless, a worthwhile excursion. Due to the incidence of sunlight through the roof of the cave, the water seems to glow blue.

For those who crave some exercise away from the water, a stopover on Korčula is recommended. The island is relatively hilly, the two highest elevations Klupca and Kommt reach a height of over 500 meters. There is a relatively well-developed network of paths for cycling and hiking tours. In addition, the island is covered with pine forests, which offers shade and cooler temperatures, especially during the midday hours. For those who prefer to go to the water, the beach of Lumbarda is recommended. At the beach there is also the possibility to rent kayaks to discover the smaller islands off the coast.

The island of Lastovo is also very suitable for hiking trips. In addition, the island is known among amateur astronomers for its particularly good possibilities to see the Milky Way from here. Make yourself comfortable in one of the anchor bays in the west of the island, enjoy a glass of red wine on deck and watch the rising night sky.

Speaking of red wine, not far from Korčula lies the long Pelješac peninsula. Wine lovers may be familiar with this stretch of land. Besides tourism, wine growing plays an important economic role. From the Mali Plavac vines grown here, Dingač is produced. A deep red, almost black red wine, which is one of the best in Croatia.

Trogir's Old Town sits on a small island connected by bridges to both the mainland and the next island off the coast. Closer to Split Airport than Split itself, this does mean that a Trogir catamaran charter will involve a little less time in transit from Split International Airport to the luxury yacht than a Split yacht charter.

The medieval town on the small island is a little jewel worth half a day's exploring in its own right. You can enjoy the narrow streets where you will find old buildings, churches and the odd restaurant or bar in which to watch the world go by.

As well as the ACI marina there are a couple of other marinas close to the centre of Trogir, the charter base from where you will begin your sailing vacation. Both are a short walk or taxi ride from the centre of the town.

Your Trogir catamaran charter has so much to offer as a sailing area. From the charter base you can explore the Adriatic coast and Dalmatian Islands to your heart's content, perhaps visiting a national park such as the one on Mljet to the SE, or Sibenik and the Kornati Islands to the NW, mooring in quiet coves all to yourself with your fellow charter guests. If beautiful beaches are your thing, you won't have to travel far, while fun holiday towns like Hvar, Biograd and Zadar are fun for a great night out too.

Crewed Catamaran Charters from Trogir

You don't need to worry about qualifications or even sailing the boat in Croatia with Borrow a Boat! A Trogir crewed catamaran charter on a motor catamaran or sailing catamaran can mean you do as much or as little physically sailing the yacht as you like.

A skippered yacht charter will mean that the skipper will be aboard with their own cabin to attend to all your needs. A crewed yacht charter will involve one or two crew on the gulet who will cook, sail and make suggestions as to your best destinations on your sailing itinerary.

As to you? You can just enjoy the breezes and views, or if you fancy learning a bit about sailing, help the skipper or crew to get the boat from A-B.

A Trogir crewed yacht charter will cost a little more (typically €150 a day for a skipper and €100 per crew member) and it's the done thing to thank them with a tip at the end of the week.

Bareboat Catamaran Charter From Trogir

A bareboat catamaran charter will mean that you can take the yacht out on your own. Generally for vessels up to 20 metres LOA on a sailing license such as an RYA Day Skipper or ASA 104 Bareboat certificate, you will have total responsibility for the yacht.

You will need to think about your itinerary, victualling, possible secondary ports should a marina be full, as well as issues like weather and mooring fees.

On a bareboat charter you will be asked to pay for insurance in the form of a security deposit on departure or through buying charter insurance before you go on your sailing holiday.

Types of Catamarans Available For Rent Or Charter In Trogir:

When searching a geographical area on Borrow A Boat you can filter by the below charter yacht types. There is also the option to further filter your searches by price, the number of guests, cabins or bathrooms, what year the catamaran was launched, the boat length and the boat manufacturer.

Types of Catamarans Available:

Sailing Catamarans: Luxury catamarans are stable and spacious type of sailing boat, with quick sailing performance, and and have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Better for larger groups, they have lots of room for water toys, and are big enough for a little privacy. A catamaran charter is easy and comfortable for novices not used to heeling and are loved by families due to their extra space when compared to a monohull sailing yacht. Typically far more luxurious than a sailboat the larger catamarans have en suite toilets and showers in the cabin as well as ample entertaining space in the saloon and on deck.

Power Catamarans: These motor yacht catamarans are relatively new but have also been gaining in popularity as the two hulls keep the boat more stable when compared to a monohull. The wider beam of the motor boats also mean more deck space and as they don't have sails or a mast, they have a lot more space on deck than a sailing catamaran rental or monohull. For a luxury catamaran charter, consider taking a crewed catamaran charter sailing vacation with an experienced skipper.

Catamaran Sailing Areas Itineraries From Trogir

On your crewed catamaran charter or bareboat charter you can explore the Adriatic coast or beautiful islands to your heart's content. Here we suggest a 7 day sailing holiday and a 14 day holiday charter period on your charter boat:

7 Days - Adriatic Coast and Islands: As a first leg on your sailing yacht or motor boat you will head out to the beach resort of Hvar Town. Northeast to the Croatian coast, this time to the town of Rognozica. After another sail, the third night will be on the beautiful islands of the Kornati archipelago with its unique wildlife and geology and world renowned national park. The 5th night will be in Biograd, before returning SE to Croatia's second city of Split, just across the bay from Trogir. Back to Trogir for handover on the final day.

14 Days - Zadar and the Croatian Coast: On your two week sailing trip you will head NW up the coast, pausing at Rognozica before heading to the national park just inland of Sibenik. This is a river cruise to a marina on your catamaran, and a wander inland on foot. Back to the open water sailing, and opportunities to visit the coastal towns of Murter, Biograd and Sukosan before reaching the big city of Zadar at the northern end of this leg. Heading south, you will now island hop through the Zadar islands where you can explore Croatia's best kept secrets. Heading SE now, don't forget to stop off at the Kornati Islands archipelago with their astounding beauty. Spend time in the islands off Sibenik and then an evening ashore at Primosten before heading to the party town of Hvar for your final night ahead of returning to Trogir for handover.

Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Catamaran In Trogir

If you are on a skippered catamaran charter you do not need a license to sail out of Trogir, you can just turn up at the marina and go.

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat catamaran charter and in some countries such as Croatia a day skipper or ICC may not be enough for boats over 45 feet in length, you will need to check with the charter agent but here are some examples of typical sailing qualifications that will allow you to charter in most countries:

International Certificate of Competence: This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

RYA Qualifications: If you have the following qualifications you will typically be able to take a bareboat charter out of Trogir (but it is worth checking as per above), these include Day Skipper (sai or motor endorsement), Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster.

American Sailing Association (ASA): The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted but also check as per above

US Sailing : The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should i consider when hiring a catamaran.

Do you have to pay a deposit when hiring a Catamaran in Trogir?

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the catamaran hire and the balance on arrival. Frequently asked questions

You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company and they can typically send someone from the charter base

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the catamaran before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool in the evenings.

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. If you choose to have a skipper on board your catamaran you won't require licences.
