Yacht Charter in Philippines
Philippines yacht rental
When it comes to Southeast Asia, among the best islands and beaches in the world are found in the Philippines. An archipelago on the Pacific Ocean featuring 7,100 islands, the country is merely waiting for yacht charters to explore its undeniably beautiful tropical islands. The Philippines is not quite yet a prime yachting destination due to the lack of marinas and mooring facilities. Still, the country is part of the emerging Southeast Asia yachting scene with most popular islands opening up for yacht rentals. A relatively undiscovered among yachting enthusiasts, you'd be surprised by the abundance of incredible natural beauty, calm seas, and plenty of safe anchorages to be found in the Philippines.
How much to rent a yacht in the Philippines?
Yacht rental in the Philippines can bring you to many different islands in one day or over the course of multiple days, depending on your itinerary. A 62-foot catamaran is perfect for short distances within the islands, costing around $24,000 for a week's rent for ten people on board. A 214-foot sailing yacht, which is perfect to cruise along the Pacific coast or the South China Sea, can be rented for about $140,000 for a week's charter. A 198-foot motor yacht, on the other hand, is the best vessel for a liveaboard along the islands. It would cost you about $258,000 per week to rent this yacht in the Philippines, which can accommodate 30 people on board.
What are the most popular yacht holidays in the Philippines?
With over 7,000 islands to explore, there are so many destinations to choose from in the Philippines. However, only a few islands offer mooring facilities, as well as safe anchorages for yacht rentals. The most popular yachting destinations in the Philippines are the islands of Palawan, Cebu, and Romblon. The most popular among these spots is Palawan, named by Travel+Leisure magazine as the "Best Island in the World," in 2020. The group of islands also received this recognition in 2013, 2016, and 2017.
What makes Palawan such a beautiful destination is its relatively untouched natural beauty. With so many islands in this region, you can discover secret dive spots, hidden beaches, and plenty of natural beauty with very few people around. The islands of El Nido and Coron are the most popular destinations for Philippines yacht rental. El Nido is known for its powdery-white beaches and Bacuit Bay islands, which offer plenty of opportunities for water adventures. In Coron, the Kayangan Lake, with its crystalline freshwater and towering limestone cliffs, is a sight to behold. Coron also features shipwrecks and other nearby uninhabited islands with secret beaches and coves.
Romblon, known as the Philippines' marble capital, is another famous destination for yacht rental in the Philippines with safe moorings and anchorages. The Romblon Harbor is a typhoon shelter and popular with yacht enthusiasts. Nearby islands for charters to explore include Banton, Tablas, and Sibuyan, called "The Galapagos of Asia." A cruise around Romblon can also bring you to the famed Boracay Island, found further down the south of Romblon, known for its 7km white sand beach and lively nightlife.
Found in the middle of the archipelago, Cebu island is the perfect jumping-off point to the nearby islands located in this region. With a yacht club in Mactan Island, this Philippines yacht rentals are available to take you island hopping around the waters, but also to further away islands such as Malapascua to the north, known for thresher shark diving, as well as the beautiful and quiet island of Bantayan, with perfect white sand beaches on the coast.
Bohol Island, known for the famed Chocolate Hills, the tarsier (the smallest primate in the world), and Panglao Island's white-sand beaches, is only a 2-hour cruise from Mactan Island of Cebu. If you would like to go further, the islands of Siquijor and Camiguin are also within a few hours cruise away, among the best of Philippines' yacht rental itineraries.
Where to go on a luxury yacht rental in the Philippines?
As mentioned, there aren't many marinas in the archipelago yet, so luxury yacht rental in the Philippines is limited to cosmopolitan cities, such as Manila, the capital, Cebu, and Davao. In Manila, several yacht clubs offer luxury yacht rentals on the Manila Bay, Subic Bay, and Puerto Galera. Luxury yacht rental typically includes a sunset cruise on the Manila Bay and cruising to popular beach spots. In Cebu, the Cebu Yacht Club offers berths for yacht owners, with a marina complete with restaurants and shops.
Samal Island, located in Davao City, to the south of the Philippines, features the Holiday Oceanview Marina, which can accommodate 60 berths, where yachts coming from Australia and Indonesia frequently have their first taste of the Philippines. Samal Island, a beautiful island with white sand beaches, mangrove forests, and the famous Monfort Bat Cave ( a Guinness World Record holder for the biggest colony of fruit bats in one cave), is found here.
The Philippines is rich with natural beauty, perfect ideal weather for cruising, and thousands of islands are just waiting for you to explore. A yacht rental holiday in this relatively undiscovered yachting destination will surely make memories of a lifetime.

Benefits of a daily boat rental in Philippines
We offer daily yacht rentals in the Philippines, which offers you the ability to charter a boat for two, four, six, or eight hours. If you plan to take a sunrise cruise or a dinner cruise,a two-hour rental will be ideal for you. If you want to spend the middle of your day going snorkeling or exploring locally by boat, a four- or six-hour rental is perfect. And if you want to spend an entire day touring the islands, an eight-hour rental is the best choice.
But no matter what, we highly recommend communicating with the boat representative of the daily rental you are interested in and discussing your plans for your trip. You can get ideas for what to do on your Philippines adventure, let the boat representative know what you’re most interested in experiencing, and get tips for your visit. The representative or owner can help determine how many hours you should book in order to make sure you have enough time to accomplish everything on your list.

While you can get plenty of ideas for what to do on your visit to the Philippines by messaging the boat representative, we thought we would offer some of our top places that you should make sure you check out during your South Asia adventure.
No matter how much experience you have, you can go snorkeling around the amazing Philippines islands. We suggest snorkeling around El Nido at the north end of Palawan Island, Bohol Island, and Puerto Galera for some fantastic sea life among crystal clear waters.
We also recommend visiting Danajon Reef. This is a fantastic must-see place on your private yacht charter. It stretches around 90 kilometers between the islands of Cebu and Bojol and has plenty of gorgeous scenery to keep you busy for hours. It’s a fantastic place to stop and smell the ocean for a while and is a must-see for every visit.
Finally, we highly recommend heading to Carabao Island for some fantastic beaches, cliff jumping, and sunsets. The scenery here is out of this world and the island itself could be perfect on a postcard. This is a great place to relax and unwind during your trip to the Philippines.
Extending your trip? Visit these amazing South Asia destinations!
There are so many other destinations for sailing in Southeast Asia to explore -- it’s definitely worth it to extend your trip so you can go sailing in other parts of the continent, too! About the Philippines
The Philippines is made up of more than 7000 islands, surrounded by balmy waters that are bright blue and clear. Famous for white sand beaches, superb diving and watersports such as sea kayaking and surfing. With impressive and varying landscapes of volcanoes and lush jungles, island hopping in the Philippines is the perfect way to experience everything this island nation has to offer.
Getting There
There are a number of routes for getting into the Philippines, with some direct flights to Manila from the West Coast of Northern America and Australia, as well as some direct from Amsterdam. Otherwise, reaching the Philippines from outside of Asia usually means you will have to stop over in the major airports in Dubai, Hong Kong or Singapore. To access the islands directly, flying to Cebu is a good option with many regional airlines flying into the smaller airport. Chartering a yacht from outside the Philippines to sail into the islands is also possible on some of our larger yachts.

Tourism in the Philippines is growing steadily, with people seeing it as more of a sought-after destination due to its beautiful landscapes and friendly people, as well as untouched islands that are ripe for exploring. Boats or Yachts Available For Rent Or Charter In Philippines
Where it comes to chartering or renting boats in Philippines below is a list of the typical types of boats that you can hire on Borrow A Boat with a description of the boat type. If you can't find the individual boat charter you are looking for when you do a search in [location name] it's worthwhile searching nearby locations as your chosen boat type might be available nearby.
When searching a geographical area on Borrow A Boat you can filter by the below boat types. There is also the option to further filter your searches by price, the number of guests, cabins or bathrooms, what year the boat or sailing yacht was launched, the boat length and the boat manufacturer.
Sailing Yacht (Sailboat): From €120/£100/$135 a day up to whatever you can afford, monohull sailing yachts are fun to sail at all points of the wind and an affordable way to get around if your island hopping or finding your own secluded coves or sandy beaches along with longer cruises. Sizes range from those for a couple or small family to a full sized luxury charter yacht.
Catamaran: Luxury catamarans are stable and spacious, with quick sailing performance, and and have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Better for larger groups, they have lots of room for water toys, and are big enough for a little privacy. A catamaran charter is easy and comfortable for novices not used to heeling and are loved by families due to their extra space when compared to a monohull. Typically far more luxurious than a sailboat the larger catamarans have en suite toilets and showers in the staterooms as well as ample entertaining space in the saloon and on deck.
Power Catamaran: These types of boats are relatively new but have also been gaining in popularity as the two hulls keep the boat more stable when compared to a monohull. The wider beam also means more deck space and as they don't have sails or a mast, they have a lot more space on deck than a sailing catamaran rental or monohull. For a luxury catamaran charter, consider taking a crewed catamaran charter sailing vacation with an experienced skipper.
Luxury Yacht: Luxury yacht charters are available for either a sailing yacht (sailboat), catamaran or motorboat and will have a crew and host/hostess on hand to cater for whatever your needs are along with a skipper who will have a detailed knowledge of your cruising area. On a crewed yacht charter of this kind you get to create your own personal itinerary and will have far greater range than on other boats which allows for lots of variety in how you travel and what you do.
Superyacht: A superyacht or sometimes called mega yacht are boats which are least 24 metres (79 feet) in length up to 180 metres (590 feet) and can either be sailing yachts (sailboats) or motorboats. These types of boats are most frequently found in the Med of Caribbean and due to their size they will have a large chartering area and can typically pick you up from whatever location you require rather than you being required to get to a set marina to start your charter. They are fully crewed with professional staff who will cater for your every need along with a skipper who will have extensive knowledge of your chosen cruising areas.
Motorboat: This covers a wide variety of boats from a motor yacht with cabins to a private boat trip for a fishing trip but all of the these are comfortable seagoing boats with a kick of speed should you want to cover a bigger distance on the day.
RIB: Very much day boats for fishing and day cruising, RIBs are a lot of fun for a day afloat. They can be very quick and are great should you be in a town on holiday and fancy seeing the coast or finding secluded sandy beaches to get away from it all.
Skippered Yacht Charter or Bareboat
When it comes to boat hire or yacht charter in Philippines you typically have two choices - bareboat yacht hire or skippered yacht charter.
When using Borrow A Boat you can filter all boat searches to be with or without skipper depending on what you are looking for and below we cover some of the main points to consider for your boat hire.
Skippered Charter: A skippered yacht charter gives you the advantage of being able to get afloat without having to invest in getting sailing qualifications before hand. For a monohull sailing yacht you will pay €120/£100/$135 plus a day extra for the skipper, as well as their food and a tip at the end.
When you get to a luxury yacht or superyacht charter with crew these prices will increase and costs also depend on where you plan to sail to along with the size and type of boat rental on your sailing holiday.
In some cases skippers will also be the yacht or boat owners (typically day trips) which means they will know all the best secluded beaches to show you the best that the area has to offer with their local knowledge.
For day trips you will often be able to use a skipper as well and prices will vary depending on the type of boat.
Bareboat Yacht Charter: For skilled sailors, a bareboat charter is cheaper and gives more privacy for you and your charter guests. Many sailors prefer to be helming the boat while choosing their own course, and provided you have the knowledge and relevant qualifications you can skipper these boats (typically up to 54 feet/16.5 metres in length) yourself.
Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Yacht In Philippines
If you are on a gulet or skippered yacht charter you do not need a license to sail a yacht out of Philippines. This is also the case where you are renting a small motorboat without a cabin for a day trip around the local islands or beaches.
You do need a license if you are on a bareboat yacht charter, here are some examples of sailing qualifications:
International Certificate of Competence: This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.
RYA Qualifications: If you have the following qualifications you will be able to take a bareboat charter out of Philippines, these include Day Skipper (sail or motor endorsement), Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster.
American Sailing Association (ASA): The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted.
US Sailing: The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.
The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.
You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.
If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.
You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat hire before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.
If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a skippered on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.
We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.
We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.
We have the highest number of verified and vetted boats available on the market.

Alan and Maria were a great team to show us El Nido and the lovely islands surrounding. The bays are prestine and the beaches gorgeous. More importantly, very excluded from crowds and tourists. This gave the experience an dimension of paradise to Robin and myself. We snorkeled, used the dingy every now and then, trew the rope behind the boat to carry us through the ocean and slept on deck in the trampolines. The shooting stars and small satellites were incredible to see them so clear. Thanks again Alan and Maria. Hopefully we see each other again someday and somewhere! Cheers, Robin and Robin
March, 2024
Sylvain provided us with a perfect vacation experience. We relaxed, sailed, snorkeled, swam, ate well and got to see the most beautiful islands without the crowds. Sylvain took us to the remote less traveled and stunning islands. We spent 2 nights, but I understand he does day trips too. We wished it wouldn’t end, he was super flexible in getting us to a tattoo appointment the second night on tim. He is chill, accommodating and interesting but most importantly a very competent sailor. When back in El Nido we will return to do it again with him. Alan & Albert NYC

We joined Alan and Maria with our one-year-old baby. They were so accommodating and really made us feel comfortable. Maria (the boat) is beautiful and so expertly piloted by Alan. I wish we could have stayed with them forever. Thanks again. Sam, Cat & Jack
Best experience I could have hoped for definitely go for it!
We traveled using Momoe' boat in a group of 6. Our group included 3 senior citizens and one person in their 30s who had mobility issues due to a prior stroke. The crew were accommodating to all. We were picked up from our hotel according to schedule. From there we were taken to the market to buy fresh ingredients for our lunch. We at the market, we discussed our trip with our guide, Gerald, to choose which locations would be best for our group. The sights are amazing and traveling privately helped avoid the major crowds and lines at the port. The crew are amazing cooks. The lunch was cooked and prepared on the boat and better than most restaurants. We recommend Momoe T. to anyone travelling to Coron.

We had an absolutely PERFECT trip. 4days/3 nights sailing in Philippines. We could not have imagined anything better. Captain Alan was amazing. He was professional, made us feel safe. He was flexible and adjusted itinerary based on our requests. We did everything on our list and more. He made extra efforts to make sure we were having a great time and to get us to destinations so we could enjoy! Thank you Alan for memorable experience!

Fishing charters are a great activity to enjoy in the Philippines, with some islands standing out as being world-class fishing destinations. Panglao Sunset Cruise by Private Yacht
Laze on white shores in style during a deluxe experience away from the crowds, on a private luxury yacht.
Cruise at your own pace just off the coast of Panglao and tailor-make your own dive site itinerary. The marine sanctuary at the serene Balicasag Island is a diver’s paradise. With shallow waters, psychedelic corals and sea turtles majestically gliding through crystal waters, it’s one of the underwater worlds that make the Philippines such a diving paradise.
At dusk, the island’s archipelago presents a colour-changing sky. Your skipper prepares a VIP dinner out on the deck, but you soon get distracted by a few pointy fins – dolphins dancing in the distance!

PCG wants entry ports for foreign private yacht to prevent entry of illegal drugs
T he Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday proposed the creation of entry ports for foreign private yachts to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the country.
PCG Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Maritime Safety Services Capt. Jomark Angue made the proposal at the Senate inquiry on the 1.4 tons of shabu seized in Alitagtag, Batangas.
Angue said the current policy allows foreign pleasure boats to proceed directly to resorts and islands in the country without being inspected by the PCG.
According to the PCG official, an entry port is needed so government agencies such as the Coast Guard, the Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration, and Bureau of Quarantine, can inspect and conduct boarding formalities to the foreign private boats and for cost-efficiency purposes.
"We need some legislation so that we can better perform our function in checking particularly this pleasure yacht. As per our current policy, the pleasure yachts are not subjected to our inspection unless it is being used to carry passengers or cargo, but if it is for personal use, we have less jurisdiction on that," Angue said.
"May we recommend, since we are in an archipelagic country…maybe we can designate a mandatory port for every region or province as the need arises, kung ilan per region or ilan per province, mandatory entry port for all these pleasure yachts coming from outside of the Philippines, not those Philippine flag pleasure yacht or the domestic registered pleasure yacht, but for those who came from foreign port," he added.
It was Interior Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. who first raised the need to change the current PCG policies.
The Senate motu proprio inquiry was launched after authorities rectified the volume of drugs that were seized in Batangas on April 15.
The drugs were confiscated in Alitagtag, Batangas and were originally estimated to be over two tons in weight, with a value of over P13.3 billion.
Two days later, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced a revision of the figue, saying that the shabu seized came to around 1.4 tons, worth P9.68 billion.
The April 15 drug haul was considered by Abalos to be the biggest single haul of illegal drugs confiscated in the Philippines yet.
During the hearing, Abalos stressed that there was no pilferage during the operations and showed videos of himself anew stating that the volume that he initially announced was just an estimate.
Last April 15, authorities seized around 1.4 tons of shabu in Alitagtag, Batangas. This was considered by Abalos as the biggest single haul of illegal drugs confiscated in the Philippines yet.
As the case is now pending in courts, the Senate panel conducted an executive session to discuss the details of the drug bust.
Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, who presided over the hearing, congratulated the DILG for this "accomplishment."
"I just want to set the record straight. Wala akong duda. Gusto ko lang ipaliwanag ninyo sa buong kapuluan kung ano ang nangyari talaga," he said.
The Philippine National Police earlier said it is looking into the possibility that a drug syndicate was behind the confiscated illegal drugs.
Authorities are also checking if the seized shabu was only part of a bigger shipment of illegal drugs. —AOL/ VAL GMA Integrated News
