Valencia Marina

Valencia Marina, plaza of the Mediterranean

valencia marina superyacht

Breaks next to the sea

The “tardeo” in Valencia is becoming more and more fashionable in the Marina. “Tardeo” refers to spending some time on a terrace with views of the sea while listening to live music and having a drink or a bite to eat. The Marina has several bars for this and they are a great option for a break after walking or cycling around.

Veles e Vents, Valencia

Contemporary culture

The most iconic building in the Marina is the Veles e Vents . It is an example of minimalist contemporary architecture whose floors seem to float in the air and lean out over the sea. It houses a concert hall where you can also find exhibitions and displays of the performing arts. In addition, one of the old tinglados (storage warehouses) in the port of Valencia is fitted out as a cultural space in which various festivals and leisure activities are organised, enhanced by the industrial character of this historic building catalogued as a Local Heritage Asset.

Terrace at Restaurant Panorama, Valencia

Mediterranean cuisine

Make the most of the trip by enjoying delicious food next to the sea. The Marina has around 15 restaurants whose menus include the traditional rice dishes of the area and freshly caught fish.  In the Veles e Vents building you will find one of them, with several international awards and with a viewpoint that offers spectacular views of the city, marina and beach.

Couple on a sailing boat

Boat trips and regattas

Visiting the Marina means experiencing the sea , and to get the most out of it we recommend a boat trip organised by the companies in the port. They combine sailing with food, parties on board, watching the sunset or small excursions. You can also enjoy the sea from dry land. For example, the Marina holds several regattas and is home to the Casa de la Copa, which publicises the prestigious America’s Cup.

Jetskis and Flyboards at Valencia Marina

Unusual forms of self-care

A feeling of wellbeing is almost instantaneous when walking along the seafront or eating with views of the Mediterranean. However, you can go further here: from yoga on the beach to trying an original form of yoga in the sea known as SUP Yoga. If you prefer more active sports you can go kayaking , ride a jet ski or try paddleboarding . If you need to release some adrenaline, why not try flying over the sea with water-propelled boots (no experience needed).

Lively evening with a DJ in Valencia Marina

Terraces at night

The end of the day in Valencia can also have a very Mediterranean feel. The Marina has plenty of terraces with music and some bars are known for their DJ sessions and party atmosphere.

Edificio del Reloj, Valencia

Art Nouveau route

Art Nouveau architecture is another of the attractions of the Valencia Marina. The dry dock, the Edificio del Reloj, the fish market and the Casa dels Bous are some of the most characteristic buildings. The Art Nouveau neighbourhood of Cabanyal is very close to here. It is an old fishing village with guided tours organised by the Valencia Tourist Office .

Spain luxury yacht charter

Spain’s vibrant cities and diverse cruising grounds are rich with culture and well-equipped for welcoming superyachts, with over 300 hundred marinas spread along the country's 8,000 kilometres of stunning coastline. A luxury superyacht charter in Spain offers guests the chance to enjoy the mainland’s yachting hubs like Marbella in Andalusia, with its famous megayacht-lined Puerto Banús, as well as electric cities like Barcelona and the former America's Cup venue of Valencia. From the mainland on the Iberian Peninsula, charter guests can cruise over to the sun-kissed Balearics to sample some of Europe’s finest island and Cala-hopping and world-renowned nightlife.

Spain yacht season and weather

The southern and eastern coasts of Spain have year-round balmy temperatures, with the Costa del Sol and the Balearic islands enjoying sunny days and temperatures in the low 20s even in November.

The Spanish charter season runs from May to October, when blue skies and warm weather prevails. Peak holiday months are July and August when average temperatures are between 25°C and 29°C, although temperatures regularly head into the 30s during the summer. During these peak months, resorts are bustling, nightlife is at its best but anchorages can be busy. Travel early or late in the season to miss the crowds and still enjoy plenty of sunshine.

Spain yacht charter itineraries

From Marbella on the Costa del Sol to Barcelona and the Costa Brava, Spain’s mainland coastline has a host of attractive options and facilities for visiting yachts.

On Spain’s southern coast, Puerto Banús marina has over 900 berths to accommodate yachts up to 50 metres (with the potential to accommodate larger craft if booking ahead) and has the pick of the glam nightlife right off the passerelle. Charterers on Spain’s sun-drenched south coast will find championship golf courses, chic beach clubs, traditional fishing towns and sweeping golden sandy beaches.

With the Costa Brava coastline littered with sandy bays and quaint, charming towns, and the enigmatic cities of Barcelona (teeming with Michelin-starred restaurants and incredible architecture) and Valencia (known for its museums and regatta racing history) lying in wait, plus artsy Sitges and historic sites such as the UNESCO listed Tarragona, it’s easy to spend a week or more exploring the colourful delights of Spain’s east coast.

Barcelona’s OneOcean Port Vell has berths up to 190 metres. Sailing yachts with masts higher than 55 metres must inform the marina as entry under the cable car line across the port will need to be arranged. Valencia Yacht Base offers berths for yachts up to 120 metres.

The Balearic Islands lie around 86 nautical miles west from Valencia and 100 nautical miles south of Barcelona and remain Spain’s most popular cruising destination, with Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza boasting a mix of irresistible calas, nature reserves and scintillating nightlife, with sleepy Formentera offering more spectacular coves.

Spain by superyacht

Getting to spain.

For the Costa del Sol, Malaga airport serves commercial and private jets. On the Costa Brava, Girona airport handles commercial and private jet traffic. Multiple airports in Barcelona and Valencia also serve commercial and private jets.

As foreign-flagged boats may not start or end charters in Spain, typical routes into the country for charters include crossing from the French-Spanish border.

Legal requirements

All boats from outside the EU must report to customs officials on entry into Spain.

Unlike in some EU countries, where VAT tax can be reduced depending on time spent cruising outside of the country, Spain has a flat rate of 21% for VAT. Commerical charter yachts can however receive a break from Spanish matriculation tax.

Generally, but not in every case, local maritime safety regulations dictate that a maximum number of 12 guests are allowed on board a charter yacht.

Watch This 88-Foot Yacht Burn in a Massive Fire in Spain

Firefighters who extinguished the blaze in Valencia point to battery failure, according to reports.

A yacht loaded with more than 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel sent up a spectacular plume of smoke as it burned in a Spanish port on Friday, according to local videos and news outlets.

Footage shows the pleasure craft blazing orange and black for on the soft blue Mediterranean waters in Valencia, before three platoons of firefighters extinguished the flames after 12 hours. Initial reports identified the vessel as the Pesa, and stated it flew a French flag, though they did not identify its owner.

Press accounts cited unnamed fire department sources who blamed the conflagration on a battery failure that ignited the luxury ship’s fiberglass hull. However, miraculously, they asserted the yacht’s huge fuel tanks appeared untouched—and said they planned to recover the diesel despite the submersion of the boat’s stern. Port authorities reportedly denied any contamination of the northern marina where the Pesa was docked, or any damage to nearby berths, despite the emergency installation of an anti-contamination barrier in the water.

Yacht charter sites describe the Pesa as a three-year-old Italian-built craft capable of hosting up to eight passengers, plus three crewmembers. A webpage advertising opportunities to rent the boat lists a rate of €70,000—roughly $76,135—per week.

“Pesa’s impressive leisure and entertainment fit-out (paddleboards, sea-bobs and top-of-the-range jet-ski as well as towable toys and snorkeling, wakeboard and water-ski equipment) makes her the ideal charter yacht to enjoy an activity-packed vacation with family and friends,” the site reads. “Her luxurious interior is designed exclusively to reflect the refined tastes of her owners.”

The operators of the page did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht screamed 'I will kill you' and threw $100 bills into the water when told he couldn't use a private dock

  • The owner of a Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee, per CBS8.
  • The employee said Ajay Thakore mooned and threw cash at him after being told he couldn't use the dock.
  • Thakore, the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, issued an apology through his public relations team.

Insider Today

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Related stories

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8.

The Harbor Police told Business Insider that Holt decided to press charges against Thakore and that they are investigating the incident.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."

Sailing Club Valencia Mar

Valencia Mar has announced the establishment of the Valencia Mar Sailing Club in 2022, as part of its growth strategy to support the development of various sports activities in Valencia Mar. These activities include the Winter Camp, the Windsurfer Valencia Mar Festival, and the European Circuit event of the 69F class, as well as the support for sailor Juan Merediz in his personal challenge to prepare for the Global Solo Challenge regatta in September 2023.

Valencia Mar has proven to be an excellent regatta base after the success of the first edition of the Valencia Mar 69F Cup regattas, which took place in ideal weather conditions and with the full support of the marina. Following the success of the competition, the organisers have announced that the great European circuit will be held again in 2023, further cementing Valencia Mar’s position as a top location for large nautical events. The II Edition of the Valencia Mar 69F Cup regattas will take place from April 26-30, featuring a new competition format that will showcase all the speed and adrenaline in a single week.
