I cantieri navali Sanlorenzo ( in origine il nome era San Lorenzo staccato, SAN da LORENZO) vengono fondati a Viareggio nel 1958 per opera di due pionieri, GIANFRANCO CECCHI e GIULIANO PECCHIA. La prima sede è il capannone della ex CANOTTIERI BERCHIELLI e lì vengono prodotte le prime imbarcazioni.

Nel 1972 il cantiere viene ceduto a Giovanni Jannetti che rinnova la produzione con il SANLORENZO 16,5 vetrorovescio e il SANLORENZO 20 VETROROVESCIO . Nel 1981 sono in produzione il SANLORENZO 15 , SANLORENZO 16,50 , SANLORENZO 19 , SANLORENZO 22 tutti in compensato marino. Nel settembre 1985 nasce il primo Sanlorenzo in vetroresina, il SANLORENZO 57 . Nel 1999 la società si sposta ad Ameglia (La Spezia), Il 14 aprile 2005 Massimo Perotti acquista i cantieri da Giovanni Jannetti che diventano Sanlorenzo Spa.

Massimo Perotti decide così di lasciare i grandi numeri dell’industria dove si era formato per unirsi ad una tradizione imprenditoriale basata sulla produzione di poche unità all’anno.

La filosofia di Sanlorenzo rimane focalizzata sulla customizzazione e sulla qualità. Nel 2007 Sanlorenzo vara la prima navetta SD92, e il primo superyacht in alluminio 40 Alloy.

Nel 2016 prende in affitto la grande location dei CANTIERI SAN MARCO , di fianco a FERRETTI , in via San Bartolomeo a La Spezia, che diventa operativa nel 2017.

This motor yacht ONYX is a superyacht of good sized proportions. This 39 m (126 foot) luxury yacht was built by Sanlorenzo - Cantieri Navali Di Viareggio in 2008. ONYX was once called the project or yacht name (40 Alloy). Superyacht ONYX is a superb yacht that is able to sleep a total of 10 guests on board and has approximately 6 qualified crew. The naval architect which delivered the design work with respect to the yacht is Sanlorenzo. Paszkowski was also responsible for her interior design.

The yacht's general design work came from Sanlorenzo. The technical naval architect firm drawings are the products of Sanlorenzo. Motor Yacht ONYX received her stylish interior designing from the interior design firm of Paszkowski. Italy is the country that nlorenzo - Cantieri Navali Di Viareggio constructed their new build motor yacht in. After official launch in 2008 in Viareggio the boat was released to the owner after sea trials and testing. The hull was built out of aluminium. The motor yacht superstructure component is made largely with aluminium alloy. With a width of 7.6 m or 24.93 feet ONYX has moderate interior. She has a reasonably shallow draught of 2.85m (9.35ft).

The History of Sanlorenzo Yachts

Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958 in Limite Sull’Arno, near Florence, Italy, by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia, before moving to Viareggio, Tuscany in 1972 when it was taken over by Giovanni Jannetti.

The founders envisioned creating high-quality, tailor-made yachts that reflected the elegance and sophistication of Italian design and craftsmanship.

Sanlorenzo has experienced steady growth over the years, establishing itself as one of the leading luxury yacht builders in the world. In the 1980s, the company expanded its production facilities and product range with the launch of the SL57 – the shipyard’s first-ever fibre-glass vessel.

During the 1990s, Sanlorenzo changed the superyacht landscape with the introduction of its SL100, while also becoming known for its innovative designs and customisation options, completely catering to the individual tastes and preferences of yacht owners.

To further expand its capabilities, in 1999 Sanlorenzo moved its operations to Ameglia inside a nature reserve in the province of La Spezia, in Liguria. That same year, the shipyard was certified UNI ENO ISO14001 to guarantee that its production processes respected the environment.

In 2005, the majority shareholding on the company was acquired by Massimo Perotti, who changed the name from Cantieri Navali Sanlorenzo Spa to Sanlorenzo Spa. Two years later, Sanlorenzo returned to Viareggio to establish a second shipyard for the creation of new product lines to complement the shipyards existing fleet, two of which (SD92 and 40 Alloy) were awarded the Show Boats Design Award and two World Superyacht Awards. In 2016, building on the success of the larger yachts in its range, the company opened the Sanlorenzo Superyacht shipyard in La Spezia, before being listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2018.

Known for its contemporary design, the SL series offers a range of streamlined, elegant and well-balanced planing yachts. The range includes six models with lengths from 24 to 38 metres.

The semi-displacement models of Sanlorenzo’s SD fleet draw design inspiration from the trans-Atlantic liners of the 1930s, combining luxury with functionality and offering spacious interiors and versatile layouts.

From 28 to 38 metres in length and build in a composite material, the series provides and outstanding range to reach even the most faraway destinations.

The first model of the series, the SP110 is a project brought to fruition through the collaboration of experts with the highest level of individual skill: Bernardo Zuccon for the exterior, Tilli Antonelli of San Lorenzo Product Development, Marco Arnaboldi for the hull design and Piero Lissoni for the interior.

This innovative solution will debut on Sanlorenzo’s new 50Steel, with the vessel from the line due for delivery in the summer of 2024. The methanol fuel cell system will allow the vessel to generate electricity for on-board hotel services, with the engines and generators switched off, significantly extending the time spent at anchor and manoeuvring without consuming diesel fuel.

Tre impianti fotovoltaici sulle sedi della Spezia, di Viareggio e di Ameglia permetteranno a Sanlorenzo di veder ridotte le proprie emissioni di Co2 di oltre 600 tonnellate ogni anno. È il risultato di un accordo tra l'azienda leader nella produzione di superyacht e Axpo Energy Solutions Italia. L'iniziativa permetterà a Sanlorenzo di diminuire l'impronta carbonica della propria produzione. I tre impianti sono stati realizzati con una potenza totale di 1,5 mw che si aggiungono a 500 kw già prodotti. Le sedi coinvolte sono quelle della Spezia dove c'è la linea superyacht, di Ameglia dove c'è il quartier generale dell'azienda e di Viareggio che è il cuore storico della nautica italiana. La potenza verrà ulteriormente aumentata entro fine anno a 3,1 mw. I nuovi impianti rappresentano un "importante passo in avanti nel nostro percorso di decarbonizzazione - spiega il presidente e general manager di Sanlorenzo Superyacht, Ferruccio Rossi -. Un investimento strategico che si allinea agli obiettivi di responsabilità sociale e ambientale dell'azienda, dimostrando una visione a lungo termine orientata verso la sostenibilità".     La collaborazione con Sanlorenzo costituisce per Axpo Energy Solutions Italia la realizzazione di eccellenza e sostenibilità come chiavi per la transizione ecologica: "Ci fa molto piacere poter accompagnare Sanlorenzo, marchio del Made in Italy apprezzato in tutto il mondo, nel proprio cammino verso una sostenibilità sempre più integrata all'interno di prodotti e processi, sfruttando la tecnologia fotovoltaica - dice il general manager Marco Gerbero -. Sanlorenzo: un nuovo varo e una nuova partnership con Volvo Penta

Un varo di un nuovo Sl96A e la firma di una partnership in nome della sostenibilità con la svedese Volvo Penta per il cantiere di Ameglia

Il varo dello scafo 837 del cantiere è avvenuto presso il suo stabilimento di Ameglia sulla costa ligure. La sua consegna all’armatore è prevista per la fine di marzo 2024.

Progettato da Zuccon International Project per gli esterni e dallo Studio Laura Sessa per gli interni, lo yacht da 100 Gt ha l’architettura navale di Sanlorenzo. Può accogliere in cinque cabine fino a dieci ospiti e quattro membri dell’equipaggio, compreso il capitano, in alloggi dedicati.

Le peculiarità di questo modello, costruito interamente in vetroresina, si ritrovano nel corridoio interno privato che conduce alla cabina armatoriale. Sul flybridge c’è un tavolo da pranzo personalizzato con un divano avvolgente e armadietti realizzati a mano da Sanlorenzo.  Aimentato da due motori Mtu può raggiungere la velocità massima di 24 nodi.

Il cantiere Sanlorenzo inoltre annuncia oggi la partnership firmata con la società svedese produttrice di motori Volvo Penta che alla base ha la comunione di intenti rivolta verso i temi della sostenibilità e innovazione e, ricorda in una nota, che lo sviluppo di tecnologie innovative per la generazione di potenza carbon neutral rappresenta il primo pilastro del Piano industriale 2023-25 del Gruppo che già opera in questo ambito attraverso accordi di collaborazione con i principali player mondiali dell’energia e degli E-fuel, proprio con l’obiettivo di rivoluzionare l’intera industria nautica.

Fra gli obiettivi di Sanlorenzo c’è quello di varare nel 2024 il primo 50 Steel equipaggiato con sistema modulare Reformer Fuel Cell, in grado di trasformare il metanolo verde in idrogeno e successivamente in energia elettrica per alimentare tutti gli apparati di hotellerie, senza che l’idrogeno venga stoccato a bordo; per poi arrivare, entro la fine della decade, al varo del primo superyacht alimentato unicamente a metanolo verde, vera risposta alla richiesta del settore nautico di generazione di potenza a emissioni zero. E per questo continua ad innovare ed investire nelle soluzioni tecnologiche all’avanguardia e attraverso collaborazioni con chi condivide la sua stessa filosofia, come appunto fa Volvo Penta.

I due brand collaborano già dal lancio dell’ Sx88 con l’installazione sullo yacht dei motori Volvo Ips1050. Sx88 è stato il primo di una gamma che poi è stata declinata in una serie completa con modelli di dimensioni inferiori e più grandi. Questo ha rappresento una felice e intelligente sintesi tra il classico motoryacht con flying bridge, di cui Sanlorenzo è stato e continua a essere uno dei primi protagonisti a livello mondiale.

A Düsseldorf 2024 Volvo Penta sta presentando l’Ips Professional Platform, sviluppata sul Volvo Penta Ips con miglioramenti in termini di efficienza, gamma di crociera estesa, maggiore velocità massima e accelerazione più rapida. Un sistema – spiega il cantiere –  basato sull’efficienza, progettato per ottimizzare il consumo di carburante e ridurre le emissioni, con caratteristiche tecniche che ne permettono l’installazione su superyacht da 25 a oltre 55 metri di lunghezza con velocità massima da 12 a 40 nodi.

L’accordo segna un passo storico verso una nautica ad impatto zero. Sanlorenzo decide di svelare in anteprima al Blue Innovation Dock di Düsseldorf i due nuovi modelli su cui Ips Professional Platform verrà installato, in anteprima mondiale per gli yacht: Sanlorenzo Sx120, il cui varo è atteso nel 2025, e Sx132, il cui varo è atteso nel 2027.

Riguardo a Volvo Penta Ips Professional Platform – continua il cantiere –  questa si integra perfettamente nel design visionario degli yacht di Sanlorenzo. La piattaforma è l’ultima evoluzione nell’esperienza completamente integrata, dalla plancia di comando all’elica, di Volvo Penta. Predisposta per l’utilizzo combinato di fonti di energia, dai motori a combustione che utilizzano carburanti rinnovabili a soluzioni completamente elettriche o ibride, assicura una maggiore efficienza ottimizzando in tempo reale l’uso dell’energia in base alle esigenze di navigazione.

I due modelli Sx Sanlorenzo saranno connotati da una grande flessibilità negli spazi grazie alle dimensioni compatte della piattaforma Volvo Penta; l’area del pozzetto di poppa potrà inoltre essere declinata a seconda dei desideri dell’armatore.
