We can completely manage your boat for you, from arranging lift-outs, engine repairs and services, electrical repairs and enhancements, gel repairs, teak deck replacement, rigging services, canvas repair and cleaning. Contact us for any of your yachting needs.

Polishing and Waxing

As part of our complete valeting service, or as an individual product, our polishing service will ensure your yacht is protected against the many elements experienced by yacht owners,

As part of our bespoke service and based on our experience, we will either offer a cut, polish and wax or a polish and wax to help protect the gelcoat.

Antifouling

The team at Solent Yacht care can carry out antifouling including preparation, abrading, masking and de-masking. We can tailor this service to your requirements. Please contact us for a competitive quotation.

Sterngear Refurbishment

As part of our ashore work, we can descale and polish the propeller(s) and stern gear. Click  ​here to view some before and after pictures.

Teak Restoration

Some of our customers prefer their teak to retain the weathered silver/grey appearance. In these cases we use Boracol 10RH which will ensure the teak decks are kept mould and algae free. Boracol is endorsed by X-Yachts and Hallberg Rassy and also used by the Malo Brokerage at Lymington Yacht Haven on their owners yachts.

Teak Renovation

​Over time, teak naturally turns from its new straw-like colour to a silver/grey. We use a two part cleaner and restorer from Wessex Chemicals. Part one, the cleaner, removes all the dirt and grime and green, whilst part two, the renovator restores the colour to eventually dry to its original straw colour. Wessex Teak Cleaner and Teak Renovator are not harmful to aquatic life or the marine environment. Their test results show that the two products quickly turn into harmless salts after use.

Acid Clean of Waterline

A common problem for yachts left in the water for a considerable length of time is yellowing of the gelcoat at the waterline. We use a specialist acid that will, more often than not, completely remove the yellowing, or on the more stubborn yachts, greatly reduce the yellowing and enhance the appearance of the waterline.

We can remove your worn anodes and source and replace with new. Contact us for details. 

For Sale Preparation

We offer a fully comprehensive yacht and boat valeting service tailored specifically to those yachts about to enter onto the brokerage market as we are conscious that a well presented yacht is a saleable yacht. We believe that if your yacht is presented at its best, when an offer is made, the ability for the potential buyer to haggle because of insignificant valeting issues are greatly reduced, if not completely removed. Dehumidifier and Heater Loan

During the months of the year when the weather conditions can lead to damp and condensation inside your boat, resulting in growth of mould spores, we have Dehumidifiers and Heaters available on a monthly loan basis. Contact us for details.

Marine Team provide you with a weekly or monthly service to ensure your yacht is ready to sail at all times. We provide a gold, silver or bronze service charged by the boat length in meters on a minimum of a one month contract. Specialist work and refits are estimated in advance to insure the most competitive price.

Packages include a selection of the following depending on your personal requirements:

Technical check up of all mechanical and electronics systems

Clean and polish cabins, deck and hull

Rig or de-rig sails and covers as required

Check and refuel water, and diesel

Taking Care of your boat is our passion

Skippers, Instructors, Engineers and Bosuns

 Solent Boat Care has a team of both Skippers and Engineers, able to assist in a variety of ways from deliveries to mechanical assistance and boat maintenance.

 Our teams diverse nature means you'll find us replacing outboard engines one day, servicing inboards the following before setting out on a sail across the solent for a delivery, charter or sea trial. Its important to us that we are able to do all of these tasks in order to best understand the job, the assistance required and diagnose faults that may not come naturally to others. And when everything is up together we thrive on making sure it stays that way by way of maintenance and cleaning schedules. All the time being able to monitor and rectify small issues as they occur.

Meet the team

Lead Skipper Yachtmaster Instructor  Marine engineer

 Sam first learnt to sail at school getting his dinghy sailing in touch evolved into a sailing trip on a yacht across to France and along the coast before sailing back.

 He then went on to train as a mechanical engineer at HMS Sultan and work in Vosper Thorneycrofts mechanical department for a number of years. 

 After time served in the mechanical department, he trained and became an RYA Instructor, and has been instructing and maintaining ever since. Boasting a wide range of qualifications and specialising in own boat tuition.

First Mate Marine engineer Coastal Skipper

 Louis started boating young venturing out of Lymington with his powerboat instructing father.

 After leaving school he turned his knowledge into his profession joining Solent Boat Training as an apprentice. Here he's learned the trade inside out turning his hand to anything required.

 Louis has now qualified in Marine Engineering at Brockenhurst College as well as becoming a Coastal Skipper for sailing and Powerboat Advanced instructor.

Kallan Simmons

Chief engineer marine engineer & grp  .

Kallan is a qualified marine engineer with experience as an offshore crane operator, working for a very large shipping company in Cyprus. In his time abroad he worked on ROV support vessels, jet driven military support boats and workboats.

 Once back in the UK he then went on to take on the role of Lead Bosun/Head of maintenance for one of the Solents largest RYA training centres where he is responsible for maintaining Jet skis, Powerboats, Ribs, Motor cruisers and Sailing Yachts.

Rusby Hennessey-Lowe

Marine engineer powerboat instructor advanced powerboat.

Russ has been part of our team for 5 years now, assisting with daily maintenance tasks and projects, whilst also participating in boat training as a qualified PowerBoat Level 2 Instructor. Before his role at Solent Boat Care, Russ served his time in the Army for 8 years as a qualified electrical and mechanical engineer, and for 3 years, worked for the MOD as a performance development specialist. Most recently, Russ worked as a Hostile Environment Close Protection Operative. Russ is an avid Gym-goer and a proud father of six.

Rusby helps with day-to-day vessel maintenance associated with boat training and other boat projects here at Solent Boat Care.

Matthew Lea

Marine engineer and grp specialist powerboat instructor day skipper power and sail.

Matt served his time as an apprentice mechanic on HGVs, and in his spare time he loved nothing more than to play and coach tennis. After serving his apprenticeship, Matt moved on and started his own business restoring cars and was particularly fond of vintage restorations. After more than six years running a successful vehicle restoration business his final project was his beloved Mercedes camper van, that he then took around Europe before landing at Solent Boat Care.

Now he has landed at Solent Boat Care he also assists with the day-to-day maintenance tasks, associated with boat training and boat management projects.

Serena Plunkett

Digital marketing and social media  apprentice in digital marketing powerboat intermediate.

Serena began work with Solent Boat Care in the beginning of the peak season as a part time summer job after successfully finishing her GCSEs, in which she studied Textiles, Art, Geography and Business.  Her role has now progressed into becoming an apprentice in marketing, whilst continuing with her assistance in daily maintenance. In her free time, she happily spends it by the sea with her adored scruffy Jack Russell or, in better weather, likes to be out on the water.

Serena plans to continue her work in the Marine Industry, bettering her experience and skills at Solent Boat Care.
