Our race events combine high-speed, free-to-watch sport and family entertainment, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers around the world, also playing a valuable role as an effective destination marketing tool. By creating high caliber events, we generate a significant level of inward economic investment at host venues, together with the commercial platform created for sponsors, partners and the wider marine industry.

P1 Offshore

This increasingly important brand within the P1 family encompasses the APBA offshore national championship series, with P1 having been granted by the APBA exclusive worldwide rights to film and distribute its offshore events for the next five years. At all race events, P1 will produce a one-hour television highlights show, featuring Class 1 racing and other APBA classes.

P1 Jetcross

Attracting a younger demographic, P1 Jetcross is considered by many to be the equivalent of motocross on water, with custom designed race hulls and highly tuned engines to power themselves around close-to-shore technical courses.

P1 Superstock

When competitors are racing with the same boat, same engine, and same performance the only difference between winning and losing is the crew. P1 SuperStock lets the pilots battle it out on the water through every turn and every wave jump. It’s an acid test of a team’s ability to command the boat in challenging conditions.

Class One racing is the highest class of powerboat racing in the world where boats can reach speeds in excess of 160mph, attracting teams from the United States, Dubai and Australia. Powerboat P1 promotes the APBA Offshore Championship, a six-venue, multiclass race series.

P1 AquaX is the fastest growing watercraft race series in the world. It prides itself on attracting the best riders and the fastest off-the-shelf watercraft with speeds in excess of 80mph. Its rapid growth is owed to a simple, accessible yet challenging race format that appeals to today’s personal watercraft users.

In September 2010, P1 launched a registered charity which has as its principal objective the promotion of the conservation, protection and improvement of the marine and coastal environment. The Foundation focuses on conservation by supporting research, raising awareness of serious threats to the oceans and creating selected partnerships.

Powerboat P1 And Mercury Racing To Continue Class 1 Power Pairing

Since 2017, twin quad-cam four-valve turbocharged Mercury Racing 1100 Comp engines have been the official spec powerplants for teams competing in the Union International Motonautique Class 1 World Championship Series produced by Powerboat P1 . That relationship will continue for the five-event Class 1 series as well as the American Power Boat Association -sanctioned Race World Offshore Key West World Championships in November.

The Powerboat P1 group is expecting five to six teams at each event this season, including the second-year Monster Energy/M CON team, which runs a 43-foot catamaran from Skater Powerboats and finished four overall in the Class 1 series in 2023.

“In our inaugural season in Class 1, Mercury Racing provided a great product and first-class race support,” said Tyler Miller, the owner and throttleman of the Monster Energy/M CON team. “Through our initial trials and tribulations being new to the class, the Mercury Racing team assisted without hesitation to bring our program as well as the entire Class 1 program to the top, providing heart-pounding racing to all fans and spectators.

“It has been our pleasure to work with Mercury Racing,” he continued. “We are looking forward to another amazing season with the 1100 Comp platform and the amazing team behind us that the engine company provides.”

The director of category for Mercury Racing and former director of engineering for the Fond du Lac, Wis., company Jeff Broman said he is looking forward to the upcoming Class 1 season as the Mercury Racing tech support will have a heavy presence in the pits and in the P1 Offshore race villages.

“Partnering with P1 allows Mercury Racing to share our passion for wide-open competition with race teams and fans around the world,” he explained in a Powerboat P1 press release. “We’re committed to providing the highest power and performance on the water and nothing puts that to the test like the demanding conditions of offshore racing.”

Added Powerboat P1 chief executive officer Azam Rangoonwala, “Our partnership with Mercury Racing has expanded each year with new areas of collaboration and mutual business development.”

Powerboat P1 Appoints Tim Ramsberger As USA CEO

Former sports tourism executive moves to event organizer.

Tim Ramsberger has been named the president and chief executive for Powerboat P1 Management’s U.S. operations as the organization looks to expand its global strategic planning.

Ramsberger will have responsibility for all of Powerboat P1 USA’s commercial, race event, marketing, communications and digital activities. Ramsberger will be based in Florida and Powerboat P1 Management Chief Executive Officer Azam Rangoonwala will continue in his global role at the London office and become chairman of Powerboat P1 USA.

“In a rapidly evolving and highly competitive sports industry still dealing with the impact of the pandemic, it’s vital that we look at our business differently and find new ways to continue to develop our primary market in the United States and increase revenues for reinvestment in the sport’s future growth,” said Rangoonwala. “Tim’s extensive experience and accomplishments in key sectors such as financial and strategic planning, operational management, sponsorship and partnership development, and sports and entertainment law make him ideally placed to lead our US team at this exciting time.”

Ramsberger joins Powerboat P1 USA from Visit St. Pete/Clearwater where he has been chief operating officer since 2016, successfully rebuilding and rebranding the Sports Commission and Community/Brand Engagement departments to deliver significant growth in room nights and consumer engagement. He has previously worked on events including the 1994 FIFA World Cup in Orlando, Florida, and the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.

“I’m thrilled and honored to join the P1 team and lead our efforts to set a new standard of excellence for Offshore Racing,” Ramsberger said. “Growing up in and around a variety of watersports together with my professional career in international events, motorsports and other aspirational lifestyle sports and events provides a solid foundation for the new journey ahead.”

Rosatom Starts Production of Rare-Earth Magnets for Wind Power Generation

TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom has started gradual localization of rare-earth magnets manufacturing for wind power plants generators. The first sets of magnets have been manufactured and shipped to the customer.

In total, the contract between Elemash Magnit LLC (an enterprise of TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom in Elektrostal, Moscow region) and Red Wind B.V. (a joint venture of NovaWind JSC and the Dutch company Lagerwey) foresees manufacturing and supply over 200 sets of magnets. One set is designed to produce one power generator.

“The project includes gradual localization of magnets manufacturing in Russia, decreasing dependence on imports. We consider production of magnets as a promising sector for TVEL’s metallurgical business development. In this regard, our company does have the relevant research and technological expertise for creation of Russia’s first large-scale full cycle production of permanent rare-earth magnets,” commented Natalia Nikipelova, President of TVEL JSC.

“NovaWind, as the nuclear industry integrator for wind power projects, not only made-up an efficient supply chain, but also contributed to the development of inter-divisional cooperation and new expertise of Rosatom enterprises. TVEL has mastered a unique technology for the production of magnets for wind turbine generators. These technologies will be undoubtedly in demand in other areas as well,” noted Alexander Korchagin, Director General of NovaWind JSC.

TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom incorporates enterprises for the fabrication of nuclear fuel, conversion and enrichment of uranium, production of gas centrifuges, as well as research and design organizations. It is the only supplier of nuclear fuel for Russian nuclear power plants. TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom provides nuclear fuel for 73 power reactors in 13 countries worldwide, research reactors in eight countries, as well as transport reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. NovaWind JSC is a division of Rosatom; its primary objective is to consolidate the State Corporation's efforts in advanced segments and technological platforms of the electric power sector. Elemash Magnit LLC is a subsidiary of Kovrov Mechanical Plant (an enterprise of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom) and its main supplier of magnets for production of gas centrifuges. The company also produces magnets for other industries, in particular, for the automotive

industry. The production facilities of Elemash Magnit LLC are located in the city of Elektrostal, Moscow Region, at the site of Elemash Machine-Building Plant (a nuclear fuel fabrication facility of TVEL Fuel Company).
