This is our fun-oriented two-day introductory program aimed at kids aged 7 to 12. Every effort is made to ensure students will spend time on the water and get comfortable with the motion of the sailboat. WARNING: Your child may become addicted to sailing and may exhibit behaviour such as wearing an eye patch and saying AARGH whenever near the water.

Picos are easily friendly to new pirates and participants will only go out on the water in mild conditions.

Classes take place from 9 am to 4 pm

This is our full day program running Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm. We run introductory classes (CanSail 1) up to CanSail 4 which follows the curriculum set by Sail Canada. Students can register in one-week increments. Each week is multi-age, multi-level. Senior youth are encouraged to register for the weeks designated as CanSail 3 and 4. The water will be nice and warm AND it's our last week of program!!!!!!

Registration will be open in Spring 2024 for this program. This fun-filled class will provide opportunity to learn race tactics, how to helm, racing rules and more. Designed for youth aged 13 and registered in CanSail 3 and up. This will run Tuesday nights from 6 to 9 pm dates TBD . Please note this does not include separate regatta registration fees as they apply. This is subject to approval by the head coach.

We will be offering Adult Learn to Sail on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 pm in July and August. Please note this class will take place in 420 dinghies. If you have taken the initial Discover Sail and wish to take the intermediate level (2.0) please email the program coordinator at [email protected] for planning purposes.

This program is aimed at senior youth who would like to hone leadership skills while earning community volunteer hours. Students must attend one day of orientation and training and commit to volunteering for two days or 15 hours. Volunteering dates to be scheduled with the head coach. The cost listed here is to offset lunch.

The Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club (RCPYC) is centrally located on Dover’s promenade and enjoys unrivalled views of the sea, harbour, castle and cliffs beyond. With excellent bar and catering facilities, the club is a haven for its members, also welcoming guests and visiting yachtsmen and women.

The club runs a comprehensive summer sailing program that includes racing, cruising, rallies and regattas. With our close proximity to Europe, the sailing opportunities from Dover are endless.

In addition to our water-based activities, the club has a vibrant social scene, running a variety of day and evening functions. The club also organises many shore-based activities and groups such as bridge, rambling, fine dining club, film nights etc.

Inter-Lake Yachting Association (ILYA)

Nearly all private yacht clubs around the lakes require visitors to be members of a reciprocal club. Long Point Bay Yacht Club is a member of the Inter Lakes Yachting Association (ILYA) which is an association of dozens of the Yacht Clubs situated around the Great Lakes. This allows our members to enjoy the hospitality of the member clubs on a reciprocal basis.

Port Arthur Yacht Club explains decision to cancel summer youth programs

The Port Arthur Yacht Club announced Wednesday morning it would not be offering youth program this summer due to uncertainty surrounding the organization’s long-term wit the City of Port Arthur.

A statement from the club’s leadership team said the decision was made with a “heavy heart” to cancel all youth programs after June 14.

The move includes Junior Sailing Camps, Junior Sailing Days and other youth community outreach programs.

“This decision was made due to uncertainty of access to our leased facilities that are required to put on these programs,” the Club statement read.

“The club’s Sexual Assault and Molestation (SAAM) insurance decision deadline was due this week; given the uncertainty of our access to the facilities we have built and maintained, we could not ethically ask out insurance company to spend weeks drafting our policy renewal.”

Club leaders stated they hope during the remainder of the year to “resolve these issues, ensure long term access to our facilities and resume our public youth sailing programs.”

The Club stated that organization leaders are reaching out to the City of Port Arthur to advocate for the club and a lease renewal.
