Welcome to the Surf City Yacht Club website! SCYC has a beautiful bay front clubhouse and marina located at 9th and the Bay in Surf City on idyllic Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Celebrating almost 125 years of sailing, boating, socializing, fun and friendships by the Bay, we invite you to explore and enjoy our site.

Welcome to Surf City Yacht Club

Meet 2021 commodore dr. ron willoughby.

It is my privilege to welcome you back to your home by the bay for the 2021 season. This season promises to be one of renewal, as we carefully emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic with a resolve to restore the activities and relationships that make SCYC our home.

This renewal has taken many forms. Most visible are the renovations to the clubhouse, ensuring that we will have a beautiful and inviting home for years to come. This project will also include upgrades to the waterfront, with improved floating docks for launching small boats and swimming. We have also made a renewed dedication to our waterfront and sailing programs, upgrading our club boat fleet and increasing social opportunities for children of all ages, while maintaining our lively adult social calendar of parties and concerts. We look forward to once again hosting regattas in our prime sailing location, including two national events this season. None of these initiatives could occur without the involvement of our membership, whose devotion to SCYC is demonstrated through their donation of time, skill and energy to our club’s benefit.

To our members- welcome back!   To those of you visiting this website to find out more about SCYC, let me tell you that as this year’s Commodore, I, along with my fellow Flag officers and Board members, are guardians of a proud tradition, 127 years in the making. SCYC is a club for the members, run by the members, and dedicated to enjoying all the benefits that Barnegat Bay can offer- boating, swimming and sailing- and to the wonderful relationships that result when these are enjoyed with others, always mindful that our Bay is a resource to be protected.

Coming Up At SCYC

From May through late October the club hosts events throughout each week and every Saturday evening including barbecues, golf outings, beach parties, concerts and dances. 2021 is packed with exciting social events for everyone!

Youth Activities

SCYC is proud to offer a wide range of sailing and swimming classes for children and young adults. With fun social activities and exciting competition with the other yacht clubs on the island, SCYC is the best place for your children to spend their summer on the island.

Many of the learning and sailing opportunities we enjoy at the club are made available to us by US Sailing, a nonprofit, member supported organization. They are a valuable resource and their programs are essential to our club. US Sailing is committed to building participation at the local level, and we can help them do so.

US Sailing and SCYC are partners through the US Sailing MVP Program. While SCYC has always utilized a breadth of US Sailing resources, our decision to join the MVP Program will introduce even more valuable programs and services to our members, as well as savings on program materials and US Sailing membership fees.

Every US Sailing member contributes to the programs that we enjoy at SCYC. We are all “US Sailing” and I encourage you to join me and every US Sailing member by becoming a member and investing in a thriving future for our sport.

Sailing and Boating at SCYC

The heart of SCYC is our world-class sailing and boating program. We offer races throughout the spring, summer and fall for all kinds of vessels, ages, and abilities.

Our Racing Committee has been hard at work putting together a full slate of regattas for this year.

Youth Sailing and Swimming

We offer an 8-week sailing and swimming program for children ages 4 – 18 who are either Junior members or children/grandchildren of members.

Young children can participate in our “Bay Kids” program to offer a safe and fun introduction to sailing and swimming.

Older children and young adults can join our Waterfront program and compete in weekly competitions with the other LBI yacht clubs!

Social Activities

Come join us for SCYC fun! A festive array of social events for adults is planned on weekends during the season from Memorial Day through mid-October.

Saturday night socials include sunset cocktail parties, bay front concerts, BBQ’s, clam bakes, pig roasts and theme parties. Additional social events include golf outings, game and card nights, and a wide variety of family – oriented activities.

Barnegat Light Yacht Club is a private club located in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey. We offer a variety of sailing and social activities for members of the club and surrounding community.​

We are a member run club. Members volunteer to participate in various social and sailing committees throughout the summer.​

YOUTH PROGRAM

Our Youth Program offers summer activities for children between the ages of 5 ad 18 including swimming, sailing and many fun social events.​

Brant Beach Yacht Club was founded in 1947 and is located across seven bay-front blocks on Long Beach Island, Brant Beach, New Jersey.

The mission of the club is threefold:

to promote yachting and foster athletic sports on the water

to promote social functions and camaraderie among the membership

to advance the general prosperity of Long Beach Island

Private pool and beach club offering boat slips, swim lessons & swim team, sailing lessons, and social events for adults and children.

Their current programs include sailing instruction (Optimist dinghies, Sunfish, Lasers and 420s) for children eight and older, swimming instruction and swim team. For our more competitive sailors, we hold a Saturday series at the Club every Saturday morning and we participate in the LBIYRA Wednesday interclub races. Our swim team competes with several other teams on the Island (Barnegat Light, Brant Beach, St. Francis and Surf City) and we have hosted the season-end LBIs for the past several years.

The Haven Beach Club is operated on the basis of our members’ volunteerism. Throughout the summer, we host many social events–for children, adults and families. Members are expected to work at least one social event per season. Our children are very active with children at other clubs on the Island– sailing, swim team and children’s socials. These activities also require volunteers.

A hidden gem hiding in plain sight, Haven Beach Club is known for its family atmosphere, festive vibe, and beautiful sunsets. Incorporated in 1947, HBC is one of the oldest non-profit clubs on Long Beach Island, and the only one with an in-ground pool.

Our mission is simple:

To nurture a family atmosphere founded on volunteerism To foster in our children a love for the water, via swimming and sailing opportunities To provide our adults with an active social calendar And to offer a welcoming community and a home away from home for people on Long Beach Island Over 200 families enjoy a broad range of activities, suitable for all ages. Kids can learn to swim or improve their stroke technique with lessons in our six-laned pool or compete for the HBC swim team. Or, if they prefer, spend the day on the bay learning to sail or as a part of our sailing team. Adults have a calendar of social events to choose from, including Friday night happy hour parties that offer the best sunset view you’ll find anywhere on the island.

HBC is a volunteer-run club, and we rely on the support of our membership to sustain both our activities and our mission.

The LBI Chamber of Commerce unifies LBI municipalities, merchants, and supporters with the shared mission of promoting tourism and commerce in this beautiful and premiere vacation destination.

Surf City has more full time residents and commercial establishments than any other Long Beach Island borough. It's development and contemporary make up have been strongly influenced by its location at one end of the causeway bridge. Everyone who visits LBI knows Surf City, whether you stay there or head north or south after crossing the bridge. It is also home to the Surf City Yacht Club .

Beach Badge Information

Badges are needed on the ocean and bay beaches for everyone older than 12. The season runs from mid June through early September. Beach badge fees:

seasonal - $35

weekly - $17, good from Saturday through Friday

Seniors 65 years young and over, no badge needed (proof of age IS required)

Other Beach Information.

The lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM, daily, through September 1, 2008.

The beach badge booth is open every day from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM - every day.

Beach Access

The ocean beach is accessible from all the side streets that end at the beach. Parking is available on most of these streets.

The bay beach is located at 15th Street/Barnegat Ave.

Public restrooms are at the Borough Hall (9th St and Long Beach Boulevard).

A flagged surf fishing area extends north from the 23rd Street jetty to the 24th Street lifeguard station.

A flagged surfing area is located from the south side of the 1st Street jetty to the South 2nd Street lifeguard station. Surfers must wear leashes.

The Ballroom holds up to 250 guests.

What style are the ballroom chairs?

Mallard Island Yacht Club has gold Chiavari chairs with ivory cushions.

What types of tables are in the ballroom?

The tables are 72’’ round tables that seat up to 12 guests.

What types of candles are permitted at the Mallard Island Yacht Club?

All candles must be smokeless and drip less. All candles must be contained, no tapers or freestanding candles. All local fire code laws must be adhered to.

Can a Continental breakfast be arranged the morning after the wedding?

You are welcome to have a continental breakfast brought in for your overnight guests.

Can I arrange an off-site Brunch the day after the wedding?

We recommend reaching out to the Mainland or Hotel LBI to arrange.

Can I have a ceremony rehearsal in the Boathouse Chapel?

Ceremony rehearsals in The Boathouse Chapel can be arranged. Please call Mallard Island Yacht Club to schedule.

What time is Check in?

Check In is at 2:00 PM the day of the wedding

What time is Check out?

Check Out is at 11:00 AM the day after the wedding

How do I obtain specific measurements of Mallard Island Yacht Club?

We are happy to provide the commonly requested measurements at Mallard Island Yacht Club. Please ask a Mallard Island Yacht Club representative for details.

Can we drop off items before the wedding?

You are welcome to drop off items the week of your wedding. Drop offs can be arranged Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please call Mallard Island Yacht Club to schedule your drop off.

Can we have fireworks at Mallard Island Yacht Club?

Fireworks are strictly prohibited at Mallard Island Yacht Club.

Does Mallard Island Yacht Club have handicap accessibility?

Mallard Island Yacht Club is fully handicap accessible. Suite seven is handicap accessible.

Can we rent heaters for the Veranda or the Boathouse?

Heater rentals for the Veranda and Boathouse Chapel can be arranged through your Event Planner.

How do we obtain our Marriage License?

For New Jersey residents, your marriage license is obtained in the township you live in.

For Out of State residents, marriage licenses can be obtained at the Stafford Registrar Office, 609-597-1000 x 8526

Ask for Linda to make an appointment. She is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Bride or Groom must call; no one else may call for them.

You must bring with you a raised seal Birth Certificate or a current passport. You must bring a witness to the appointment.

Does Mallard Island Yacht Club have overnight staff on property?

Mallard Island Yacht Club has a Night Manager on duty for your convenience from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM

Can we schedule a Self-Tour to show our family and friends?

We encourage you to visit Mallard Island Yacht Club as often as you would like. Please call Mallard Island Yacht Club to schedule a self-tour of the Estate.

What is the smoking policy?

Mallard Island Yacht Club is a no smoking facility. There is no smoking in the interior of the premises.

How can we arrange valet parking?

Your Event Planner would be happy to direct you to our valet vendor.

Weddings & banquets.

The main club house has been host to a wide variety of wonderful elegant private events.  Panoramic views of the bay, indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces, and exceptional sunsets make the Brant Beach Yacht Club a premier Long Beach Island wedding venue.  The water front clubhouse offers seating for up to 200 people; a beautiful covered outside deck, roof top deck, and two full service bars.  The kitchen offers an up to date restaurant quality space with walk-in refrigerator/freezer and top quality appliances and food preparation counters.  (newly renovated following hurricane Sandy)
