Palma international boat show (pibs) and the superyacht village (psv) return to the centre of palma de mallorca 27th - 30th april….

Back for a bigger than ever year, the Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) and The Superyacht Village (PSV) herald the beginning of the 2023 summer season in style over four days at Moll Vell in the centre of Palma de Mallorca 27th - 30th April. The 2022 show attracted more than 32,000 people and brought together 276 companies, this year record numbers are expected to descend on the largest of the Balearic Islands, in celebration of all things nautical.

''The setting for PIBS is spectacular'' says Arne Ploch, Managing Director of the Palma Superyacht Village. ''In the heart of beautiful Palma, surrounded by amenities, luxury hotels and world-class restaurants, in the springtime sun, clients are flying in from all over Europe and further afield, it's a really enjoyable time and a great way to start the summer.''

Clients are not only flying in to enjoy the boat show atmosphere, but they are also coming ready to buy, Ploch explains. ''Having PIBS in the springtime is a great opportunity for buyers, they can potentially sign a contract right after the show in May and a month later be out on the water fully enjoying the Mediterranean season aboard their new vessel, that's a unique and very alluring prospect. Palma Superyacht Village, a show organized by the Balearic Yachts Brokers Association for the industry is the perfect platform to introduce newcomers to yachting as well as cover all services an experienced owner is looking for.”

palma yacht

Palma also has the distinction of being one of the sailing yacht capitals of the world. A strong pedigree of not only sailing yachts but also motor yachts from 24-55m+ will be found at PSV in-water display, for sale and charter. In 2023 there are more yachts available to charter at the Superyacht Village than ever before, as the brokerages respond to an ever-growing client base wishing to spend time on the water.

PSV is also an important date on the B2B calendar, as the professional yachting industry converges in Palma to meet, network, collaborate and exchange ideas. The ever-popular Re-fit & Repair area and the raft of shoreside exhibitors will feature both local and international companies and this year is sponsored by new brand partner Estrella Galicia.

Also new to the Superyacht Village is the Innovation Corner in collaboration with leisure marine entrepreneurial community hub Yachting Ventures. The Innovation Corner will provide a space for nautical startups to showcase new technologies, and to promote dialogue between young companies and the wider yachting industry.

"We are thrilled to announce that the Innovation Corner, a new initiative in collaboration with Yachting Ventures and the Palma Superyacht Village, featured at the 2023 edition of the Palma Boat Show," continues Ploch. "As an island, we understand the tremendous contribution of the yachting industry to our economy and acknowledge the significance of remaining innovative. We are eager to meet the selected start-ups participating in the Innovation Corner and offer them the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the attendees of PIBS this year."

palma yacht

Commenting further on the partnership, Gabbi Richardson, founder of Yachting Ventures adds, "We're delighted to offer startups the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the industry by participating in the inaugural Innovation Corner at PIBS. There's always a real buzz at this show, and I grew up in Mallorca so the event is personally one of my favourites on the yachting calendar. It signifies the start of summer in the Mediterranean, and it is especially important because it inclusively spans all sizes of yachts and watercraft.''

The yachts are not the only attraction at The Superyacht Village, food enthusiasts will be delighted by Mallorca resident and Michelin-starred chef Mark Fosh and his team who once again will bring the Fosh Lounge to the Superyacht Village for delectable bites and refreshments in a luxurious setting, this year brought to life in collaboration with Bentley Barcelona.

Gourmets will also love sampling the offerings from Tast Out catering, who will provide their take on local cuisine during the show via their first-class catering services to exhibitors and boats.

Whether you are coming to Palma to do a little yacht shopping, meet with industry colleagues and friends, discover new technologies and innovations or sit back glass of rosé in hand and soak up the atmosphere of all things nautical in one of the Mediterranean's most spectacular destinations the place is to be is Palma International Boat Show and The Superyacht Village, Moll Vell, Palma de Mallorca this month 27th - 30th April.

The Palma International Boat Show is returning in 2023 in Mallorca

Palma International Boat Show 2023: More than 120 boats on display in Mallorca

The season-opening Palma International Boat Show is back from April 27 to 30 with a host of superyachts once more on display at Moll Vell Marina in Mallorca.

The island's premier nautical event is back following a successful rebrand that saw the Palma Boat Show and Palma Superyacht Show join forces to become a super event to kick off the Mediterranean season.

The show, organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association, continues to go from strength to strength, with 127 boats confirmed to be on show beneath the bright Mediterranean sun.

The glamorous four-day showcase features some of the finest 24-metre-plus superyachts currently on the international brokerage and charter market, which can be found at the dedicated Palma Superyacht Village.

Within this section of the wider event, formerly known as the Palma Superyacht Show, visitors can meet renowned brokers and inspect numerous luxury charter yachts, both motor and sail. There are also a wide array of shore-side exhibitors, showcasing everything from the latest developments in sail design to next-level marine electronics, while greater space will be devoted to the refit and repair industry than in previous editions.

Y.CO is bringing 55-metre sailing superyacht Elena of London , and Fraser will showcase 42.6-metre Flying Manta . The 41-metre Envy , the 39-metre sailing yacht G2 and the recently refitted 47.4-metre Gweilo are also set to be there.

Other yachts confirmed include the Custom Line Navetta 33, Majesty 100, Ferretti Yachts 670, Princess Y85, Pearl 95, and Riva Rivale 52, while Wally will bring the Wallytender48 and Pirelli will demonstrate a range of its techno ribs.

Building on the success of last year’s iteration, which attracted 32,000 people, more than 80 per cent of last year’s exhibitors are returning this year. In 2022 there were 276 companies at the show, 21 per cent more than the previous year, and 264 boats afloat.

“Interest from top players across the industry is at record levels, especially for the refit and repair zone,” a spokesperson says. “And the big news is the Innovation Corner, with 12 start-ups showcasing new technologies.”

And as the show grows, its influence is extending beyond Spain. Of the 90 exhibitors on land this time, 20 per cent are from abroad and are not headquartered in Spain.

“The Palma International Boat Show has shown itself to be a catalyst for the sector, as it has been and continues to be one of the most important gateways for international companies that want to establish themselves on the islands or establish relationships with local firms to open new channels of business,” the organisers say.

Tickets and day passes for industry members are available now via www.palmainternationalboatshow.com

PALMA SUPERYACHT VILLAGE

Palma Superyacht Village, previously known as the Palma Superyacht Show, is an integral part of the  Palma International Boat Show (PIBS), the opening event of the Mediterranean yachting season, taking place from the 25th to 28th of April 2024. It is one of the few industry-owned and operated yacht shows aimed to bring the visitor closer to yachting and offer any services a yacht owner might require, provided by trusted and well-established companies, in a relaxed but professional atmosphere.

Whereas PIBS is the hub for the latest shipyard presentations and services related to yachts under 24 m, Palma Superyacht Village displays a selection of superyachts above 24 m for sale and charter, as well as hosts an exhibition of nautical services available to superyachts. Within the dock-side exhibition there is also a separate area dedicated to Refit & Repair, representing the many specialist companies that make the Balearic Islands one of the world´s leading destinations for refit and maintenance of boats.

Because of this, our islands have the necessary infrastructure to carry out repair and maintenance work on both small and large boats. In fact in Palma alone, more than 1000 projects a year are carried out on boats over 24 m, according to the data collected by the Balearic Marine Cluster

The exhibition is located in the Moll Vell area in the heart of Palma de Mallorca, right in front of the majestuous, landmark cathedral of Palma and the bustling old town with its restaurants, outdoor cafes and quirky boutiques. With its laid back, uncomplicated and fun atmosphere, the Palma Superyacht Village is the perfect place to discover yachting.

It is always a good idea to bring a printed confirmation (or screenshots) just in case of problems with your booking. Please bear in mind that it can be challenging for some crew house owners to take reservations due to the nature of tenants coming and going at a random pace. For this reason, not all crew houses will take bookings far in advance. NB: Some crew houses require tenants to present a Seaman’s Book, STCW certificate or a yachting CV.

You can also check these helpful sites, which will help you find alternative accommodation worldwide:

A QUICK FAVOUR TO ASK: Unfortunately, contact information changes from time to time. To help others find up-to-date-information on the site, please report any broken links to [email protected]

  • Facebook Of course, the biggest network to connect everyone. You can often find rooms for rent or ask for one in the Facebook group covering your destination. This is likely your most flexible option.
  • Roomster Roomster helps you find private rooms worldwide – great for small budgets!
  • Hostelworld.com HostelWorld.com is an awesome hostel-search engine, where you can see photos and compare hostels not just locally but also worldwide. You can also find hostel deals and see the location of the hostels in relation to the marinas. It is well worth checking out!
  • TripAdvisor TripAdvisor is always a good choice if you want to check the reviews before booking, whether it be a hotel, hostel, restaurant, bar etc. Discounts are often available from their platform as well.
  • FairBnB You may never have heard of FairBnB. This new platform shares their commission with a local community project each time you make a booking through them – without the host being paid less. This is “Community Powered Tourism” at its’ best!
  • AirBnB AirBnB allows you to find private accommodation in a safe environment worldwide. Perhaps not the cheapest form of housing, but if you are unable to book a room, a crew house or a hostel then this is a good place to continue your search for a place to stay.
  • Flipkey Flipkey is a great alternative to AirBnB and definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something a little more private.
  • Sublet Sublet is a brilliant site which helps you find rooms and apartments short term or long term worldwide.

This isn’t the end of all our crew housing – but for specific destinations on crew housing check out our destinations pages for a more comprehensive list.
