Stepping aboard the 45m/146ft motor yacht HARLE at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, YachtCharterFleet discovered what makes her one of the most popular yachts on the charter market.

Delivered by Feadship in 2007, HARLE was the second in a new semi-custom line, known as the F45 Vantage series. The objective was to offer Owners the proven platform of a Feadship build with the opportunity to tailor a well-crafted interior to their own tastes.

To assist their clients,  Feadship  offered a choice of four different interior design themes.  HARLE’s Owner opted for the ‘Miami’ style, a look loosely based on the Art Deco era. Yet, thanks to a number of adaptations and additions, the yacht quickly evolved with her own unique identity.

At the heart of HARLE’s design is a beach house ethos, which favours a minimalistic and relaxed environment over the opulence and extravagance of other yachts in her class. Her spaces have also been termed polymorphic, meaning each area and its corresponding furniture is carefully designed to be totally multi-functional.

In keeping with her fuss-free look, bird’s eye maple and mahogany panelling is used throughout the entire interior and there are no sharp edges, no lamps and no clutter. Curtains are to be found in the main salon only and the walls are devoid of artwork.

There is an innovative alternative to this lack of art, however. A virtual collection of over 8,000 masterpieces from the likes of Monet, Picasso and Van Gogh can provide an ever-changing backdrop, displayed on high-definition TV screens.

A common trait of the F45 Vantage series is to eschew a dining area on the main deck in order to accommodate a master suite and four other guest staterooms. It is often noted that interior dining areas on the main deck are rarely used and this departure from the norm enables all guests to wake up in the morning to glorious sunshine.    

What's more, all four guest cabins have been bestowed with three large floor-to-ceiling windows to enhance the stunning vistas and, continuing the motor yacht ’s multi-functional mindset, each room can be configured as either a twin or a double.

The master suite, meanwhile, has its own surprises. Located behind double vaulted doors, the suite stretches across the breath of the main deck forward and, in addition to a multitude of full-length windows, benefits from natural light flooding through a huge skylight above.

A retractable headboard lowers, however, to reveal the suite’s main feature: a circular whirlpool bath for six people sitting directly under the skylight and offering the ultimate on-board spa experience.

The bridge deck on board luxury yacht HARLE is a perfect example of the commitment to a practical, beach house-style design. A flat floor made of soft teak spans across the aft third of the deck where side windows slide open and wide glass doors fold away to harmoniously link the interior and exterior areas.

Such a setup means that rather than housing a skylounge, the deck acts as one continuous entertainment area, equipped with a wide selection of custom-made modular furniture from California-based company Summit and a dining option to make up for the lack of one below.

The chairs, tables and loungers can be arranged in a variety of ways to suit the desired activity, whether it be hosting a formal dinner, a relaxed movie night or a party for 140 guests. In fact, HARLE is a regular choice for corporate yacht charters and is always snapped up for prestigious events such as the Monaco Grand Prix .

There is also a full-beam office on the bridge deck, which provides a peaceful hideaway to catch up on any important business. Alternatively, equipped with a Murphy bed, privacy wall and en suite, it can be converted to a sixth stateroom.

Up on the expansive sundeck, charter guests can indulge in unrivalled outdoor living. A Jacuzzi forward, surrounded by a semi-circle of sun pads, provides uninterrupted ocean vistas, chaise loungers aft present sunning opportunities and an alfresco dining area expands to seat 12 under the radar arch.

Unusual touches include a high definition TV screen, a retractable full-size awning and a phoenix motif etched into the teak floor.

Not to be forgotten is the multi-purpose lazarette, a very popular place among charter guests. When all the water toys are removed, it can serve as either a fitness studio or lounge area, while the huge swim platform acts as a private beach club on which to unwind, access the sea or enjoy a range of water sports.

As part of YachtCharterFleet’s time on board, the team was treated to a delicious three-course lunch alongside the American Captain, Carey Drake.

On the menu to start was succulent seared tuna with diced soy sauce jelly and wasabi mayonnaise, followed by a delicious main course of fillet of red snapper accompanied by pea puree and potato scales with roasted garlic. Concluding the meal was a trio of desserts made up of chocolate mousse, tiramisu and fresh fruit minestrone.

Due credit must be given to the resident Chef behind this unforgettable creation. Imaginative, spectacularly presented and incredibly tasty, the lunch truly had the wow factor and singularly puts HARLE above other yachts in her class.

Also impressing with their professionalism was the yacht's team of stewards and their immaculately presented table setting, which added a touch of beauty to the proceedings.

Stripping back all signs of grandeur and lavishness and, instead, focusing on functionality and comfort has created an unparalleled charter experience in the form of HARLE. It’s important to note, however, that in turning the attention to these more practical matters, her aesthetics have not been compromised.

Exuding an understated luxury and elegance, her minimal yet practical spaces are combined with the high-quality craftsmanship and innovative engineering for which Feadship is renowned, and ensures no guest is left wanting.

Motor Yacht

Luxury motor yacht Harle, built in 2007 by Dutch shipyard Feadship, is an award-winning superyacht with a neat and graceful design. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she features exterior design by De Voogt while her interior is the work of Sinot Yacht Design. This contemporary vessel measures 44.65 metres and can accommodate up to 10 guests.

Motor yacht Harle is the second launch from Feadship member Royal Van Lent’s semi-custom F45 Vantage series, following in the wake of the 2007 Space. With the technical and engineering aspects already taken care of, the superyacht’s first-time owner could focus on the layout, interior décor and overall ambience of the vessel. The F45 concept sets the specifications for hull, superstructure, bulkheads and exterior styling, while the remaining design aspects are completely up to the owner’s choosing.

Of the four available interior stylings offered by the F45 concept, motor yacht Harle adopts a Miami, or classic art deco, look which sees combinations of light wood panels and dark mahogany divisions that create an informal but smart ambience.

The main deck lounge carries a casual air that carries across the single space with close to full-height windows and lowered main deck bulwark for spectacular views. A large curved sofa creates a relaxing space in front of the television, and a bar and card table are located aft. Forward of the lounge is a lobby with dayhead and a pantry from which food and drinks can also be served.

Further forward can be found four guest staterooms each with floor-to-ceiling windows and en suite facilities. The main deck guest cabins are an unusual feature for a yacht of this size as more often than not they are located on the lower deck. The owner’s stateroom is full-beam and features a massive four-by-two metre skylight that floods the room with natural light and also provides an excellent view of the night sky.

Harle’s social centre is the bridge deck where both indoor and outdoor areas are maximized for entertainment. Panoramic windows and air-conditioning make this an excellent option for lounging or al fresco dining. The sundeck provides another entertainment option equipped with music speakers, large television screen and a retractable full-size awning. A Jacuzzi and grill also sit atop the luxury superyacht.

Harle boats a variety of high-end entertainment options, including Bose surround-sound audio-visual systems, Apple TV and LCD flat screens that allow a whole library of movies, music and games to be enjoyed. Even the vessel’s artwork is high-tech, featuring a virtual gallery of around 8,000 pieces that can be displayed and changed with the touch of a button.

Featuring a dedicated crew, Harle is an excellent charter yacht for luxury vacations. The yacht cruises comfortably at 12 knots while her crew of nine ensure the needs of every guest are met.

The luxury motor yacht is equipped with an armada of water toys to provide endless entertainment during any yacht charter. Onboard water toys include two Nautica tenders, sailboats, WaveRunners, kayaks, water skis, wakeboards and a range of scuba and snorkelling equipment.

Tech Mogul Michael Saylor, Owner of Entourage Party Yacht, Starts Fractional Superyacht Ownership Program

Back in January we reported that the cast of the upcoming Entourage movie was filming some wild party scenes with topless models in Miami aboard the impressive $30 million  Usher superyacht. Now the vessel’s owner, tech billionaire Michael Saylor, is using the luxury yacht as the crown jewel in a new company called Fleet Miami that he’s positioning as, according to a post on his Facebook timeline as reported by  Pursuitist , “NetJets for yachts, albeit more exclusive and less ambitious." Saylor intends to sell memberships starting at $250,000 per year, which will give cardholders access to the 154-foot  Usher, as well as Saylor’s other yachts — including the 147-foot Feadship Harle , the 87-foot Warren Yacht Moksha , and the 36-foot cruiser Julia .

“Michael Saylor saw a big need to simplify not only the ownership of yachts but also the need to streamline the charter process,” Captain Glen Allen, fleet captain of Fleet Miami, tells The Superyacht Owner . “Mr. Saylor hates inefficiency. He looked at how when we added a second and then third yacht to his stable, the crew became much more efficient. He saw that with multiple yachts we could utilise the crew much more efficiently. But then the inventory of available days of use grew and he was not able to fill those days — he felt we needed a system to take advantage of that.”

Can’t afford a full membership? Saylor is also selling seven-day charters through the Florida Keys for $70,000 to $280,000, depending on which yacht you choose. Usher , which had been available for charter at $225,000 per week, is a high performance motor yacht built by the renowned Delta Marine shipyard in 2007. It features one of the most distinctive interiors of any vessel, with a tropical-themed design scheme that includes custom glasswork, bamboo, leather and rich exotic woods (like Wenge, Bubinga and Koa). Perfect for partying, it features a hot tub, wet bar and two onboard margarita machines. Saylor, once the richest person in Washington, D.C., lost an estimated six billion in a single day during the tech bubble in 2000, but has since recovered a fair amount of his fortune.

A Summary of Motor Yacht HARLE

Hailing from the The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard yacht builder in the Netherlands the HARLE is 45 metre 147 (ft) in length. Completed in 2007 her reasonably recent interior decoration exhibits the creative modernity in the designing of Sinot Design Associates. Superyacht HARLE is able to accommodate up to 10 guests with 8 crew members. Her old, former or build project names were F45 Vantage. She will reach a maximum speed of 14.5 knots.

Construction & Design of Luxury Yacht HARLE

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architecture company involved in the professional nautical design work for HARLE. Also the company De Voogt Naval Architects and Sinot Design Associates skillfully worked on this undertaking. Interior designer Sinot Design Associates was employed for the internal interior styling. Built by The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard this yacht was fabricated in the recognised yachting country the Netherlands. She was officially launched in Kaag in 2007 before being handed over to the owner. The main hull was constructed with steel. The motor yacht superstructure is made largely from aluminium. With a width of 9.2 m or 30.2 ft HARLE has fairly large size. She has a reasonably shallow draught of 2.7m (8.1ft).

The Engineering And The Speed/Range That M/Y HARLE is Capable Of:

The 12V 2000 M70 engine powering the yacht is built by MTU. Coupled to the HARLE engines are twin screw propellers (wartsila 5 blades fixed pitch). The main engine of the ship gives 1055 horse power (or 788 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The total thrust for the boat is accordingly 2110 HP or 1576 KW. As far as stabalisers are concerned she utilises Naiad Zero Speed.

With volume for a limit of 10 visiting passengers sleeping aboard, the HARLE accommodates them in style. The boat has room for approximately 8 proficient crew members to operate.

New era begins at Moscow City Hall

Monday’s Moscow City Council meeting ushered in a new era as three new city councilmembers, a new city supervisor and new mayor were sworn into office.

Mayor Art Bettge took the oath of office, Julia Parker, Hailey Lewis and Gina Taruscio were sworn onto City Council and Bill Belknap took his position as the new city supervisor.

Much of the meeting was devoted to sharing kind words for outgoing mayor Bill Lambert, outgoing city supervisor Gary Riedner and outgoing city council member Brandy Sullivan.

Riedner is leaving after 26 years.

“Gary embodies the complex multifaceted character trait of understanding,” city attorney Mia Bautista said.

Deputy city supervisor Tyler Palmer said Riedner practiced “selfless service” and his work to oversee Moscow’s city services affected every citizen.

Deputy city supervisor Jen Pfiffner said Riedner has worked through every hard decision with an empathetic approach and is a “living example of ethical management.”

Riedner then took to the podium to share his brief remarks.

“I don’t know who you folks were describing tonight,” he joked. “He sounds like a heck of a guy.”

Riedner thanked city staff for doing their jobs with the “heart of a servant” and said he was grateful to work with the mayor, council and the community.

“The community means a lot to me,” he said.

As a parting gift, he was allowed to keep a wooden duck decoy that was part of Moscow’s public art collection and on Riedner’s wall since 2004.

As Lambert gave his final remarks, he thanked the 170 people who work for the city as well as the many who volunteer on the city’s commissions.

“That’s what makes our city great is the volunteerism,” he said.

He credited the council for being steadfast in their actions, including when it came to making decisions in response to COVID-19. He said they did what they thought was right for the community and did not let politics interfere with their decision making.

Lambert has served the city of Moscow for 21 years as a member of the planning and zoning commission, board of adjustment, city council and as mayor.

“I never took it for granted ever,” he said.

As Parker, Lewis and Taruscio were sworn in, it began what is likely the first term in Moscow’s history with a council of all women.

Sullivan chose not to run for re-election this year and former council member Bettge now takes his post as mayor.

Sullivan thanked residents for being involved in city government by attending meetings and joining commissions. She credited the council for being respectful of each other and approaching issues with an open mind.

“You all play a big part in why this has been a positive experience for me,” she said.
