At Greenline Yacht Interiors, we pride ourselves on providing expert design development support to world-renowned designers. Our engineering team is the strength of the design development process, providing thorough and detailed drawings that allows the production process to flow smoothly. Manufacturing & Installation

With our 280,000 sq. ft. state of the art factory in Dubai, GLYI boasts a purpose built facility that improves its capacity to handle the biggest volume of super yachts available on the market today for mega yachts, super yachts and giga yachts. The factories combine the latest in state of the art technology while still maintaining traditional craftsmanship and hand skills. The new headquarters is the largest factory for luxury super yacht interiors in the world and surpasses all yacht interior factories around the globe, in terms of size, manpower and the resulting potential output.

Iconic yachts: Inside the build of 162m superyacht Dubai

The creation of the iconic yacht Dubai was far from straightforward, with the build changing hands three times. Dubai was the largest yacht in the world by volume at the time of her build, with a gross tonnage of 12,488GT. She was originally intended for one royal family but went on to be used by another royal entirely. Commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei’s brother, Prince Jefri Bolkiah, Dubai started her life in Germany with naval architecture developed by Blohm+Voss (now part of Lürssen Yachts ), while design came from the UK’s Winch Design . In 1998, the project rolled to a standstill, with work completed on only the steel hull and part of the aluminium superstructure. The project was lying on a covered floating dock at the Blohm+Voss yard, and liquidators went out into the market to find potential buyers.

Her name gives the next part of the story away: the partially built yacht was sold to the Dubai government. “Once Jefri fell out with his brothers, his assets were seized, including the yacht which was at early stage of construction,” explains Kostis Antonopoulos, the former managing director of Platinum Yachts, which eventually oversaw the build of Dubai . “In fact, at that time I was working at SETE of Latsis group and we offered for the project, but Dubai offered more and they got it.”

Initially, the Dubai government assigned the build project to Karam Sadikoglou in Turkey. The dock, partially built yacht and containers holding equipment such as main engines and generators were sent to Sadikoglou’s facility in Turkey. However, progress was slow, and the Dubai government demanded the project be transferred to the UAE. With progress still slow and costs skyrocketing, Sadikoglou left the project. Antonopoulos was brought in to finish the build under the banner of Platinum Yachts , a subsidiary of Dubai World. The project had almost 800 people working on it, not including the hundreds of subcontractors. Antonopoulos’s job wouldn’t be an easy one – he had to reorganise the structure of the build team, restore confidence in the project and gain the confidence of the Palace. Sultan bin Sulayem, the chairman of Dubai World, served as the in-between for the owner and yard.

“The design of Dubai was quite ahead of its time, and although she had an enormous size the design did not flirt at all with the shapes of cruise ships,” says Antonopoulos. “And except for the hull, the rest was built and outfitted by people who had no idea what a yacht looked like.” Antonopoulos flew employees to the Monaco Yacht Show so they could see the details that make a superyacht. “It was great experience for them and a quantum leap to their knowledge and understanding,” he says.

The interior design was completed in-house by Platinum, and most of the build-out was by local contractors in Dubai. “The brief was simple: the owner wanted a floating Burj Al Arab – and he got it,” says Antonopoulos of the colourful interior which he describes as an “attack” on the senses. There are many custom details, such as the handmade tiles in the swimming pool, which are lit up by embedded optical fibres. Her massive volume afforded space for 48 guests and 88 crew. Dubai also had a cinema , disco, helideck , and a garage holding a submarine and a variety of toys.

As Dubai was built for a royal, security was a priority. “I asked a computer security firm to hack the yacht’s network , and while we thought that we had a very secure ship, the guys hacked it in 30 minutes! Of course, we redesigned the security,” says Antonopoulos. Another day, the owner came on board and discovered the lower decks did not have a clear GSM signal, so ceilings had to be ripped apart to add repeaters. Challenges to make the yacht SOLAS compliant were resolved by sending materials for lab tests to obtain class approvals.

Antonopoulos, who currently serves as managing director of Samos Steamship Co, looks back fondly at his time working on the build of the iconic yacht Dubai . “I enjoyed building a really good team,” he says. “When I arrived, the people in the project were working in isolation and there were competing teams… I managed to bring them together and make them understand that by cooperation and teamwork we can not only achieve successful completion of the yacht but we can also enjoy our time together!”

It’s been quite a while since the royally iconic yacht Dubai was finally launched in 2006, but Antonopoulos says she stands the test of time. “I think her design is timeless and she can even be considered a classic now.” Dubai sails under the UAE flag and is known to be an active yacht, recently spotted cruising in the waters off her namesake city.

Superyacht Interiors: Step Inside the Entourage, a 210 Feet Long Scandi-Chic Home on the Sea

Superyacht interiors can easily stray into the realm of cliché, especially when they’re designed to exude “maritime chic” or over-the-top opulence; even those designed by starchitects are not immune to this misstep. Not the Entourage, though: this 63m vessel, built by Dutch firm Damen Yachting and kitted out by Toronto interior design firm Burdifilek , is a serene, modern sanctuary on water, with decor that creates the illusion of sea and sky merging into one.

Subtlety is its key feature. “We wanted the exterior surroundings to start a visual dialogue with the interior,” explains Diego Burdi, creative director and founding partner at Burdifilek. “The initial impression is rather understated, and creating understated luxury was key during the design process.” The firm is usually found styling high-end fashion boutiques, champagne bars and minimalist homes, and the Entourage is its first ever yacht project – something that makes its sophistication even more impressive.

Burdi and his team had a head start on this superyacht interiors project thanks to the clean lines of the boat’s exterior, which focus on an interplay with nature; from certain angles, it appears to be made up of a series of floating platforms, while huge, floor-to-ceiling windows reinforce the impression that sea and sky are merging. Burdifilek clad the walls in fumed oak and added custom furniture in barely-there colours (think blush pink, sand, grey and pale blue); soft curves echo the undulations of the ocean waves. A sculptural spiral staircase with taupe leather-clad walls further elevates the organic look.

This could easily be a luxurious residential interior on land, so what was different about the process for the designers? “The most interesting factor was that we couldn’t move any walls, so we had to design within a prescribed shell,” Burdi reflects. “But once we adapted to this scenario, it was smooth sailing. We also became hyper-aware of scale and ergonomics, as it was important to fulfil all the functions while designing spaces that were comfortable. We carefully hid all mechanical systems to allow for a clean aesthetic.” This last element also proved important in reducing noise and making the sailing experience more restful – there’s nothing like rumbling machinery to instantly remind you that sea voyages can be a rambunctious affair.

Burdi studied several yachts before embarking on the project to see how he could make design improvements. “I found that it was not only important for the interior to be pleasing to the eye, but also for it to form a backdrop to the scenery,” he explains. This led to the studio’s choice of a palette of matt or “dry” finishes, which balances the reflectiveness and shimmering light of the water. “The interior is a wonderful frame for the emotional vistas beyond,” Burdi enthuses. “We kept to a tailored colour palette on all the decks, using European white oak for the walls and flooring, and a grey-taupe leather for wall panelling in the passageways and guest bedrooms. Washrooms are clad in sandblasted, honed limestone – again, very monolithic and quiet.” The Entourage’s owner boasts a vibrant art collection, which is displayed around the yacht; this determined the muted shades of the upholstery. “The only major dose of colour comes from the custom-made grey-blue carpets, which nod to the sea; they create the impression that the interior and the sea are one,” adds Burdi.

The stateroom’s sea view inspired the pastel, blue-toned furnishings. All furnishing was custom designed by Burdifilek.

The headline features are of course the stateroom, with its pastel furnishings and peerless views, the outdoor lounges with their plump bespoke sofas, and a built-in grey lacquered cocktail bar that opens up like a cabinet of curiosities.

However, once guests retreat to their rooms, the cosy décor and picture windows – offering breathtaking ocean views from the comfort of bed – take some beating, too. “This project was the perfect canvas for old-world craftmanship,” concludes Burdi. “The sense of discovery from deck to deck never gets dull.”

Gulf Craft Reveals New Luxury Superyacht Concept

On the first day of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), UAE-based shipyard, Gulf Craft, kicked off this year’s exciting DIBS announcements by revealing its new yacht debuts, as well as hinting at the first details of its new luxury superyacht concept, Majesty 111.

Celebrating 40 years of boat and yacht building, Gulf Craft held a press conference this morning to commemorate its anniversary, as well as to unveil its newest yachts and plans for the future. 

The first details of its newest superyacht concept, Majesty 111, were revealed to an intimate press group at the DIBS' all-new Dubai Harbour location. Standing at 33.8m in length, with a 230 GT interior volume, Majesty 111 was presented by Gulf Craft as more than an average superyacht. Her new design is expected to set the precedent for the future of Majesty yachts; presenting exquisite design, engineering, architecture and technical features. Mohammed Alshaali, the Chairman of Gulf Craft, stated: ‘ We’re always trying to improve our yacht design, interiors, materials and usability . Of course, this is a process, but we never stop searching and developing.'   Majesty 111 will feature interior and exterior design by Phathom Studio, and is expected to be showcased at DIBS next year. 

Also making her DIBS debut is Gulf Craft's 37m Majesty 120, Rocket ONE. Built with advanced composites, such as GRP and carbon fibre, Majesty 120 boasts innovative features and a sleek exterior, that was designed in-house by Gulf Craft’s Design Studio. Delivered in 2022, Rocket ONE sets an incredible example of Gulf Craft’s advance into the superyacht industry. 

Continuing the announcements, Gulf Craft also unveiled two more yachts making their global debuts at DIBS: Nomad 70 and Silvercat 40cc. Both under 24m, Nomad 70 and Silvercat 40cc certainly highlight the broad range and expertise of the shipyard. 

Despite a turbulent few years, the UAE-based shipyard has continued to grow: ‘In the last 40 years, we have seen all kinds of challenges…but we kept going’ commented Alshaali. Recently expanding into the USA market, Gulf Craft, once UAE’s pioneering boat builder, has now become a global yacht and superyacht brand. ‘In the last 40 years, we have built and sold more than 10,000 boats and more than 600 yachts.’ Recently opening a new luxury hub in Dubai’s Port Rashid named, ‘The Gulf Craft Experience Centre’, Gulf Craft aims to strengthen its customer relationships and international presence, expecting to see growth during 2022 in Saudi Arabia, Australia as well as the USA.  

Choosing to honour its 40th anniversary and unveil its new designs at DIBS this year, Mohammed Alshaali commented on the importance of the show for Gulf Craft: ‘ The Dubai International Boat Show is an event that celebrates the UAE’s fast-growing yachting sector but also pays tribute to our region’s rich maritime heritage. This year, we are highlighting the growth of our company as well as showcasing a series of new models all manufactured from our integrated facility in the UAE. The event is even more special this year as it coincides with our 40th anniversary.'

“It was created as the conduit for a thrilling experience—watching whales around the boat, dolphins surfing bow waves or passing glaciers in icy waters,” says Enrique Tintore, design manager for the Dutch line of expedition yachts , ranging from 197 to 345 feet. “The idea is to maximize the connection with nature, to look down over the front of the bow and feel an unusual connection. That’s something you can’t do on any other yacht.”

The open bows of Ferretti Yachts’ Infynito 90 , and recently announced Infynito 80, are less concerned with off-grid travel, but more about social possibilities. More cruiser than explorer, the 90 has an “All Season Terrace” that connects directly with yacht’s outer passageways all the way back to the aft cockpit. The 90’s bow area is designed to be private, but still open, configured with lounges, a forward sunpad and Jacuzzi. Owners can even opt for a cocktail bar with stools. Like the Damen Xplorer, it has open sides and an open front, but the overhead offers protection with slats that can open if the owner and guests want direct sunlight. “We created it as an oasis to put the people living on board front and center,” says Ferretti’s Filippo Salvetti.

Both designers claim there are no structural downsides to these unusual bows, though Tintore admits that “green water” could wash over the front during rough-water crossings. “But guests can just step back into the enclosed observation lounge to enjoy the action with a cocktail.”

O ne man’s personalized luxury yacht may not suit another’s tastes, not due to inferior quality, but because it fails to resonate with the new owner’s preferences. This truth was exemplified by the transformation of Lurssen’s renowned superyacht, Ace.

Launched in 2012, Ace, an 85-meter vessel with interior and exterior design by Andrew Winch, was tailored for Ukrainian billionaire Yuriy Kosiuk. Boasting 2,723 GT of interior volume, it catered to Kosiuk’s vision of a family-centric retreat equipped with unprecedented luxuries and innovative design elements.

Despite being a symbol of opulence, Ace was later listed for sale in 2020, eventually finding a new owner after a slight price adjustment. Post-acquisition, the yacht underwent a significant refit, including a name change to Eye, symbolizing a fresh chapter under anonymous ownership.

Eye’s transformation, conducted at MB92 in Barcelona, Spain, was shrouded in secrecy, culminating in a redesign that eliminated Ace’s distinctive “eyes” feature, opting for a more conventional aesthetic.

While the exterior alterations may suggest a departure from its predecessor’s identity, the interior remains undisclosed, leaving speculation about the extent of modifications and whether Eye will enter the charter market.

Moscow courts UAE to bump up inbound tourism

• Moscow targetting UAE tourism

Moscow aims to double the number of annual visitors from the UAE this year, to expand its international tourist base amid headwinds such as the war with Ukraine. 

Bulat Nurmukhanov, head of the International Cooperation Division at Moscow City Tourism Committee (MCTC), told AGBI that while the Russian capital’s domestic tourism has broadly recovered since the pandemic, international tourism has yet to do so. 

Moscow received 24.3 million visitors in 2023, he said, of which 2.3 million were international and the rest were from elsewhere in Russia. In 2019, Moscow recorded 25 million visitors, of which four million were from overseas.

“Despite the challenges Moscow faces today, it has almost recovered its pre-Covid visitor flow of 2019 – our best year for the industry, helped by the effect of hosting the Fifa World Cup in 2018,” Nurmukhanov said.  

“But most of these are domestic tourists. We hope that by working with new markets such as the UAE, we can restructure the international tourism base and attract more visitors from the Emirates and wider GCC.”

Moscow has yet to calculate the number of visitors from the UAE last year, but it is a small proportion of the overseas total, according to Nurmukhanov. However, it is an important source market because of its higher-than-average spend per visit. 

“They’re helping load Moscow’s five-star hotels”, he said. These are not as popular among domestic tourists and other nationalities as three and four-star hotels. 

Last summer, MCTC revealed that tourists from the Middle East accounted for more than 30 percent of Moscow’s total tourist flow from outside the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2022. 

“Middle Eastern countries are among the most promising markets for inbound tourism,” the committee noted. 

In the UAE, the number of Russian tourists and investors leapt in the year after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, as Russian businesses sought a safe haven free of sanctions imposed on them by the West. 

Bilateral trade between the two countries has also risen sharply , by 63 percent between January and September 2023 to $9 billion, according to Russia’s government. 

Nurmukhanov said: “We’re already receiving a decent amount of tourists from the UAE and want to make sure that now, we adapt our infrastructure and design new hospitality products, entertainment and offerings that will be in their interest.” 

The strategy includes enhancing relationships between Moscow and UAE hotels, travel agents and tour operators; improving restaurants’ halal offerings; translating menus and other literature to Arabic, and promoting popular activities such as bear hunting, helicopter trips and horse riding.  

Some Moscow hotels even help GCC tourists to purchase warm clothing for their trip, Nurmukhanov said. Gulf visitors can obtain visas on arrival in Russia, and in November a rapid e-visa service was extended to other countries.

Luxury Ralph Lauren-Inspired Townhouses Hit The Market in Moscow

The residences occupy a storied stretch of the russian capital.

T he flamboyant interiors that flourished in post–Soviet Russia have gradually given way to a fresher, more restrained approach to decor. Moscow’s latest luxury real-­estate offering—a set of limestone Beaux Arts–style townhouses aptly named Noble Row —eschews flash for a timeless, sophisticated look. The surprise element is in the development’s backstory: The six newly built residences, located in a tranquil lane just off historic Ostozhenka Street (the city’s Golden Mile), were inspired by American style icon Ralph Lauren .

Allegiance to the Lauren brand, it turns out, is not uncommon in the Russian capital, where the fashion label has two shops, crafted with help from New York architectural designer Gregory Tuck . When the devel opers of Noble Row, brothers Konstantin and Arkadiy Akimov, sought out Tuck, he jumped at the chance. “I was attracted to the courage of the endeavor,” he says. “Building at this level requires tremendous resources and patience.”

To ensure the interior craftsmanship was up to the highest standard, the brothers enlisted top Manhattan interiors firm Foley & Cox , whose principals, Mary Foley and Michael Cox, began their design careers at Ralph Lauren. “It was a refreshing exercise in global collaboration,” says Cox of the Noble Row creative roster, which includes Christopher Peacock (for the kitchens), Chesney’s (for the stone fireplaces), and Waterworks (for the bathroom fittings). For the walls, Chilean-born New York artist Marilu Nordenflycht created a series of charming ink and chalk drawings featuring equestrian scenes and figurative studies, which Cox describes as “modern interpretations of Matisse and Ellsworth Kelly sketches.”

To sweeten the deal, the Akimovs have fully furnished the 6,500-square-foot single-family townhouses—each crowned with a rooftop winter garden—exclusively with pieces by Ralph Lauren Home . So far the brothers’ tribute to the American designer is proving successful: Four of the six dwellings have already been sold.
