Bespoke Yacht Charter’s brokers have prepared a sample  seven day yacht charter itinerary for the French Rivera (Côte d’Azur)  including such glamorous and legendary south of France yacht charter destinations such as St Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, Cap Ferrat and a detour to the gorgeous yachting mecca of Portofino in Italy.

Nice to Cannes

Upon arrival at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, a driver will be waiting to take you directly to the Port of Nice, where your charter yacht is docked, ready for your week-long luxury yacht charter on the French Riviera. The yacht’s crew will be waiting for you on the aft deck with glasses of champagne to welcome you aboard your home away from home. Before departing for your first destination, Cannes , the yacht’s Captain will provide a brief safety briefing and explain some important yachting “do’s and don’ts.” Meanwhile, you can take some time to explore your new surroundings and enjoy the stunning south of France scenery from the jacuzzi while the crew prepares the yacht. Once the yacht has dropped anchor opposite the famous Carlton Hotel, a delicious lunch will be served on the aft deck.  

After lunch, you can visit the Iles de Lerins , a small group of islands off the coast of Cannes. The islands feature Sainte-Marguerite, home to the Fort Royal where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned, and Saint-Honorat, which has a beautiful monastery where you can purchase some of the fabulous items produced by these stylish monks, including wines, liqueurs, and excellent honey. If you’re interested in high-end shopping, Cannes is the perfect destination for you. All the big luxury names like Prada, Gucci, Hermes, Chanel, and Christian Dior can be found there. For those looking for a more relaxed afternoon, you can enjoy swimming or indulge in an onboard massage. As the sun sets, it’s time to get dressed up for a glamorous night out in Cannes! Bespoke Yacht Charter recommends the 2-star Michelin Palme d’Or at the Martinez hotel on the Croisette for the ultimate dining experience. After dinner, you can dance the night away at one of Cannes’ many nightspots, like the Bâoli club in Port Canto.

Cannes to St Tropez

Hopefully the heads are not too sore this morning! A lavish buffet breakfast will be laid out on the yacht’s sun deck when you wake. After breakfast, time for a quick swim before departing for your next destination, the infamous St Tropez . Cruising past the beautiful red rocks of the Esterel, the Captain will head past the town of St Tropez to what is perhaps the most famous stretch of sand anywhere in the world and certainly on the Cote d’Azur, St Tropez’s Pampelonne Beach !

Once the Captain has dropped anchor, the first thing that will become very obvious is that you are most definitely not alone. Pampelonne is one of the most popular superyacht anchorages for luxury yacht charters on the French Riviera, if not the entire world. Why are all these yachts here, you might ask? Yes the scenery is stunning, but it is in much of this part of the world. The answer lies on the shoreline and the thirty or so beach clubs that populate the 3 miles of sand that makes up Pampelonne Beach.

There’s a beach club at Pampelonne Beach to suit all tastes. Some of these beach clubs are incredibly flashy and loud, others much more modest and relaxed! We’ve decided to make reservations at the original St Tropez beach club, Club 55! Club 55 originated in 1955 when a small structure served as the onset canteen providing food to the cast and crew of “And God Created Woman” starring THE St Tropez icon, Brigitte Bardot! Over its’ sixty year history, Club 55 has become the definitive Cote d’Azur beach experience for many and is a fixture on almost every French Riviera yacht charter tinerary. Yes many of the guests are rich and famous, but the atmosphere that prevails here is one of a refined, casual discretion. Enjoy the fabulous Mediterranean cuisine of the Cote d’Azur in a chic yet relaxed environment.

As the sun begins to set, your charter yacht will head for St Tropez itself and its’ famous Old Port. If you’ve booked far enough in advance, you’ll head straight for your berth, if not then it’s highly likely that tonight your yacht will be at anchor just outside St Tropez harbour.

Not to worry, your charter yacht will have a fast and comfortable tender to ferry you ashore and back until the very early hours. Dinner could be taken on the yacht, or in town, at L’Opera perhaps.

After dinner, a visit to one of St Tropez’s incredibly hedonistic nightclubs is in order. Perhaps the VIP Room or Caves du Roy, or why not both!

St Tropez to Antibes

Time to head back east today towards the town of Antibes, the European capital of superyachts. On the way, the yacht will anchor just off the legendary  Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc , a palatial hotel on the Cap d’Antibes peninsula where all the stars stay during the Cannes Film Festival.

This hotel is considered by many to be the most luxurious hotel on the Cote d’Azur. Relax on deck and enjoy some water sports before the yacht heads into Port Vauban in Antibes . Once the yacht has docked, cars will be waiting to take you to the beautiful village of St Paul de Vence and more specifically to the restaurant La Colombe d’Or.

St Paul de Vence is a spectacular 14th century hilltop village and La Colombe d’Or is its’ true star. Eighty years ago, Paul Roux opened a modest restaurant in a 16th century village house.

Many famous artists who spent time in this part of France became regulars at the restaurant, including Chagall, Miro, Matisse, Renoir and Picasso. Often distinctly lacking in the wallet department, they settled their bills with pieces of art. Today, La Colombe d’Or boasts one of the world’s finest collections of 20th century art. It is also a great place to have lunch! A visit to the nearby Maeght Foundation is also a must for art lovers and one of the Côte d’Azur’s finest museums.

Late afternoon, head back to Antibes for a walk around the beautiful Antibes old town before returning to the yacht for drinks. Your yacht’s crew have been busy in your absence, preparing the yacht for a fantastic dinner this evening. If you’ve timed it perfectly, there will also be a spectacular fireworks display after dinner! Summer fireworks displays are a real highlight of the French Riviera yacht charter season. Bespoke Yacht Charter will provide you with a schedule of when these take place so you’ll be sure not to miss them.

Antibes to Cap Ferrat

After breakfast, the yacht will head for the magnificence of  Cap Ferrat  just east of Nice. This lush peninsula is home to some of the world’s most impressive and expensive waterfront villas! Once the anchor has been dropped, and after some swimming, you’ll have the option of lunch onboard or perhaps ashore at the highly recommended beach restaurant  Paloma Beach . In the afternoon, why not visit the spectacular  Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild , one of the most impressive and ornate properties on the French Riviera.

With mind-blowing views over the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the nine amazing gardens that are open to the public are absolutely incredible. Early evening drinks will be enjoyed at the very impressive Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat from where you’ll then be driven to the 9th century village of Eze, perched 1,400ft above the Mediterranean sea below. Enjoy a walk through the narrow cobblestone streets before a very special dinner at the majestic Chèvre d’Or, one of the French Riviera’s finest restaurants. The night will be spent at anchor off Cap Ferrat.

Today, it’s off to  Monaco  which is just a short cruise from Cap Ferrat. But the first stop of the day will be the beach at Plage Mala on Cap d’Ail. A truly stunning bay, framed by towering cliffs, Plage Mala is one of the most secluded, lovely beaches anywhere on the Côte d’Azur. This really is a truly beautiful anchorage. Lunch ashore at either La Reserve de la Mala or Eden Plage Mala will be very enjoyable. This is also a great place to enjoy the toys onboard, especially the standup paddle boards! The views towards Monaco and back over Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat really are magnificent, and paddling around the bay in total silence is truly the best way to appreciate the majesty of your surroundings!

Early evening and it’s time to come into port in Monaco. Monaco has two ports, each with its’own very distinct flavour. The Port de Fontvieille is laid back and relatively quiet, which appeals to those looking to relax. But as we are going for the ultimate French Riviera yacht charter experience during this week, there is only one place to be on a charter yacht in Monaco, and that’s the main port, or Port Hercule as it’s known. The Port Hercule is like an amphitheatre, framed to the west by the the old town of Monaco (the rock), to the north by scores of apartment blocks rising up to meet the mountains and to the east by the glitz and glamour of Monte-Carlo.

Everyone knows Monaco’s Port Hercule as it is of course the location of the Monaco Grand Prix, the event for which this small Principality in southern France is best known. Every year, the world’s finest drivers push themselves to the limit, racing their cars around the narrow streets of Monaco, something these machines where never designed to do and you’ll see why! As you enter Monaco, many of the famous parts of the circuit will be instantly recognisable from the deck of your yacht, Rascasse, Tabac Corner, the Swimming Pool and the Tunnel. In fact, it is highly likely that your charter yacht will actually be berthed on what is the Monaco Grand Prix circuit!

Tonight is going to be all about glamour, so what better way to begin than with a glass of champagne on your charter yacht, the brightly coloured lights of Monte-Carlo sparkling all around you. It’s only a short walk or taxi ride up the hill to Casino Square, home to Monaco’s legendary Casino de Monte-Carlo. Monaco is famous for two things above all, the Monaco GP and the Monte-Carlo Casino, and it’s only fitting that your first night in Monaco takes place around this magnificent temple to gambling. As you enter Casino Square, you can’t help but admire the splendour of the architecture. To your right stands the legendary Hotel de Paris, to your left, the Cafe de Paris, and it is here that the evening really kicks off with drinks at this world famous people watching spot.

Directly in front of you, you’ll see your restaurant for dinner tonight, Bespoke Yacht Charter’s recommendation is Alain Ducasse at the Hotel de Paris (previously the Louis XV). After a spectacular dinner, how about a drink or two at legendary Monaco nightspot Jimmy’z or perhaps try the new kid on the block, Twiga owned by former F1 team boss and restaurateur, Flavio Briatore.

The next day is spent on the yacht anchored off Monaco, sunbathing, swimming and tearing around the bay on the jet skis.

Monaco is also a great place to ask the charter yacht’s crew to get all the towable toys out and have some real fun. Lunch is taken by the pool at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel. In the afternoon, perhaps a game of tennis at Monte-Carlo Country Club, or if that’s not your thing, why not visit Le Rocher and the Prince’s Palace or the Oceanographic Museum?

For dinner, if you don’t want to eat onboard, then try Nobu on the roof of the Fairmont Hotel. Exquisite Japanese dining with the most incredible views of Monaco, the sky and the sea!

Monaco to Portofino, Italy

Your charter yacht left Monaco shortly after you returned from dinner last night and when you wake up this morning, you’re in Portofino, Italy! Portofino is a beautiful fishing village with a twist and one of the most attractive places in this part of Italy. After breakfast, spend the morning exploring the shops in Portofino, or enjoy yourself out on the water. There are numerous beautiful walks all around Portofino. Lunch will be served onboard today, and don’t eat too much, as you have a really special dinner lined up for this evening. In the afternoon, why not take the tender and explore some of the other towns and villages around Portofino, such as Santa Margherita. As it gets dark, cars will arrive to take you for a truly memorable last dinner at the fabulous Hotel Splendido, perched high above Portofino, offering fine dining and even finer views!

Portofino to Nice or Monaco

Enjoy your last breakfast onboard your charter yacht as you cruise back to the south of France and Monaco or Nice to disembark from your French Riviera yacht charter.

French Riviera – Cote d’Azur Yacht Charter

The French Riviera otherwise referred to as the Cote d’Azur is the most popular cruising ground for luxury yacht charters. This area of the south of France coastline includes famous destinations such as St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, and Antibes the base for most of the superyachts when they are not out on charter. St Tropez is still the number one yachting destination along the famous Cote d’Azur coastline and high on the list of places to visit in the whole of the Western Mediterranean. This tiny fishing village was transformed after the 1956 film starring Brigitte Bardot ‘And God Created Woman’ was filmed here. Soon afterwards the jet set arrived desperately seeking the same lifestyle.

The village of St Tropez consists of narrow cobble stoned street filled with tiny shops and numerous French cafes plus an excellent museum.

The harbour is lined with excellent restaurants and bars, all with the perfect vantage point looking out over the marina. Here you can look out over your charter yacht and watch newcomers to the marina maneuver in this tight spot into their stern to berth. Multimillion dollar superyachts are intermingled with fishing boats. The harbour is the location to watch the sunset and to party into the small hours.

St Tropez is host to one of the most famous classic yacht sailing regattas called Les Voiles de St Tropez, which takes place at the end of September annually. Iles d’Hyeres

Iles d’Hyeres are located south of St Tropez, just off Toulon on the main coast France. A Cote d’Azur cruise would not be complete without a visit to these stunning islands. These tiny islands offer beautiful sandy beaches and tall trees and quiet bays to anchor in, in total contrast to the main land of France.

There are four islands in this tiny archipelago however the two main islands are Ile de Porquerolles and Ile de Port-Cros. Ile de Porquerolles is the busiest island receiving many day tourists during the summer months. This island offers protected anchorages along it’s sheltered north coast, the sea here is crystal clear azure blue water. The main form of transportation on the island is bicycle and you will spot the locals playing boules in the village square. Ile de Port Cros is a protected nature reserve ‘Parc national de Port-Cros’ with strict rules prohibiting road traffic and fishing within 50m of the shore. This is the quieter island of the two.

Cannes is one of the more famous French Riviera yacht charter destinations, which is favoured by the rich and famous. With two yacht harbours Vieux Port or Old Port as it is also referred to, and Cannes Marina Mandelieu-la-Napoule to visit during your cruise, you then have an excellent choice of numerous French restaurants and great beaches. Cannes also has a great selection of world-class hotels. This location is famous for the Cannes Film Festival, which is held every May just prior to the Monaco Grand Prix. It is normal for the jet set to visit to be seen at both events.

Unlike St Tropez that was a tiny fishing village, Nice is very much a large city located on a long sandy beach, it is the second largest French city on the Mediterranean coast. Nice became very popular during the Victoria times. It was recognised during this era as being a good destination for the wealthy aristocratic families to visit during the winter months for medicinal purposes, with its mild winters compared to England. The main promenade along the seashore is aptly named Promenade des Anglais as a reflection upon the visitors that used to stroll along it. Nice has a lovely old port located at the eastern end of the Promenade des Anglais. Superb Genoese-style old pink and yellow ochre buildings surround the port.

The city has a lot to offer if you are able to spend a little time ashore. It has excellent shops without the price tag of Monaco, lovely cafes and patisseries and numerous markets selling their local wares including flowers and museums. The old town also referred to as Vieux Nice dates back to the 16th century. The restaurants in Nice are excellent with so many to choose from all within easy access of your charter yacht. You will see local culinary specialties such as Niçoise and Provençal being offered.

Nice has the second largest airport in France after Paris, and as a result of this it has become very popular. You will most likely fly into Nice Airport prior to joining your charter yacht. Starting your luxury yacht charter from Nice is a possibility because it is centrally located.

Antibes is located just to the east of Nice, and it is one of the most famous yachting destinations. Port Vauban is home to the majority of superyachts and luxury charter yachts, when they are not on charter. The old town remains unspoiled and it is a beautiful example of an old French village with lots of tiny back streets to explore, offering a good choice of shops and restaurants.

Cap Ferrat is located in-between Nice and Monaco along the French Riviera coastline, and it is considered to be one of the destinations that you should visit during any Cote d’Azur yacht charter. This peninsular has been a favourite holiday destination for wealthy European’s over the year.

The scenery here is beautiful and the peninsular has a picturesque port. Port de Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat offers protected marina facilities for 560 yachts amidst the fishing port. Ashore there are numerous restaurants to choose from both surrounding the port and in the town, with the main theme being seafood. There are several stone paths that you can walk along which enables you to take in the amazing views fro this rocky enclave. There is also a small beach near to the port, again with an excellent restaurant. There are numerous larger beaches to choose from in this vicinity including the popular Paloma beach that is located to the southeast of the port.

When To Visit

The main Mediterranean yachting season runs from April until the end of October, however the peak time is July and August when all of the ports that you will visit on your cruise will be very busy with tourists both on land and on other luxury yachts. For a quieter vacation you may want to consider chartering in either June or September when the water temperature has warmed up slightly, however the summer crowds have not yet arrived.

How to select and book a yacht?

To get the best possible price and availability, we invite you to book your charter several months in advance. Especially for events such as the Cannes Film Festival or the Monaco Grand Prix. Reservations can still be made at the last minute. In order to choose the boat corresponding to your criteria, we will propose you a selection of yachts available in the desired geographical area. The yachts will be listed according to the criteria you are looking for. Your boat will only be reserved once the charter contract has been signed and the deposit received.

How many guests are allowed on board?

Most yachts can accommodate a maximum of 12 people on board. The number of persons in the berth is specific to each yacht. This capacity does not include crew cabins. The capacity of each yacht is defined by the regulations in force.

Are pets allowed on board?

Usually pets are not allowed on a yacht. However, you can negotiate with the boat owner. Only he can give you the company of your pet. If your pet is accepted on board, a deposit is usually required to cover any incident.

Is the crew included in the reservation?

The boat’s crew and insurance are included in the amount of your rental. The captain is in charge of the boat and the management of the whole crew. Sailors and hostesses can be present (their number differs according to the size of the yacht chosen). They are in charge of the tasks to be carried out on board, and will be available to meet your expectations.

What is the cost of a rental?

The cost of chartering your crewed yacht depends on the size of the yacht, the type of yacht (motor or sail) and the year of the yacht. The length of the charter obviously determines the overall cost of the charter, as well as the amount of the APA. Our team will be able to negotiate for you the best yachts available according to your criteria.

Edge Fund (APA)

The charter price usually only covers the cost of the boat and crew. Additional expenses are covered by the APA, which is generally 30% of the charter price excluding taxes. The APA covers expenses for fuel, bunkering, berths, etc. The unused portion of the APA is returned to you at the end of the charter. In the event that the expenses exceed the amount of the APA during the charter, you will be asked to pay the balance before disembarking.

Provisioning

Once you have chosen your yacht, we will send you a preference list to help you prepare your stay. This allows us to supply the yacht according to your tastes with the products you wish to consume.

Embarkation & delivery of the yacht

As a general rule, the embarkation takes place at the home port of the yacht. However it is possible to embark in another port. In this case, delivery and return fees will be added to the cost of the rental.

What activities can be done during the charter?

When renting your yacht, some activities are possible depending on the equipment of the boat such as: diving, kayaking, jet skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, fishing, etc. If these facilities are not available on board the selected yacht, they can be rented at an additional cost. We are of course available for any other requests for additional activities. *Some activities require a permit or a diploma.

A deposit of 50% of the charter amount must be paid one month in advance. The remaining 50% must be paid, at the latest, before the departure of the yacht for your charter. Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, remote payment (by internet or bank transfer) or cash. American Express and Maestro cards are not accepted.

Can I cancel a charter?

Cancellation of a charter is only possible in case of force majeure. In this case, the charter can be postponed depending on the availability of the yacht. For more details, please refer to the MYBA contract conditions.

Jazz Age Glamour along the French Riviera (Pampelonne Beach to Monaco, 6 Days)

Think luxurious superyacht charter, think the glitz and glamour of the Côte d’Azur. This is the world’s epicentre of all things opulent, based in the sumptuous setting of blissful beaches and majestic mountain ranges drenched in the Mediterranean sun. This curvaceous stretch of coastline is filled with wonderful treats to find along the way, where you will instantly fall for the charms of the local seaside towns and the region’s seductive beauty.

Day 1: Toulon – Pampelonne Bay

You will board your luxury superyacht at the rural Toulon before heading up the coast to begin your adventure along the dazzling Côte d’Azur. Your first stop is the hedonistic sandy beach of Pampelonne. This iconic beach is brimming with exclusive restaurants, bars and clubs which will ease you into the private luxury of a superyacht charter. Strolling along the Place de la Garonne you will no doubt be drawn into some high-end shopping as you embrace the Côte d’Azur attitude and lifestyle. For unbeatable panoramic view of the sea and world-class dining, head to the Tropesian institution Club 55. There will be ample opportunities to cruise the translucent Mediterranean that surrounds St Tropez, but when night falls we recommend a trip to the sumptuous Le Quai bar and nightclub. There is nothing quite like wandering barefoot across the sand armed with a delicious cocktail, and for those who are in no hurry to call it a night, the VIP room is open until the morning sun arises.

Day 3: St Tropez to Cannesx

Enjoy a refreshing morning in the perfect Mediterranean climate, perhaps a dip in the water, before we sail north towards the superyacht hotspot of Cannes. Cannes is an old fishing village which has developed into a glitzy destination for luxury travellers, while retaining its aesthetic heritage and peaceful culture. Take a strong along the Promenade de la Croisette which stretches for 2km along the glistening Mediterranean coast where you will find casinos, rose gardens, beautiful harbours, and sandy beaches.

Le Baoli offers a picturesque setting to watch the pink skies as the sun sets in the balmy Mediterranean, enjoying delectable cocktails all the while. Over at Le Loft, you can sample exquisite Asian food and dance against the elegant backdrop of downtown Cannes.

Day 4: Cannes to Antibes

Waking up in Cannes, you will likely want to spend the morning refamiliarizing yourself with an area that has become so popular among the rich and famous, and see some of the historical and cultural sights which include the medieval abbey on the majestic Île Saint-Honorat. Leaving Cannes you will be well and truly immersed in the unique Côte d’Azur culture, and ready for the next chapter of your adventure. This will bring you to Antibes, a bastion of old-world glamour and a strong superyacht homeport. Days can be spent exploring the often celebrity-filled beaches or enjoying a more exclusive experience by cruising the waters onboard your superyacht. We recommend spending some time in Antibes visiting the luxurious spas to slip into a state of complete and utter relaxation of both your mind and body. Once feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, head to the Bellini Bar for some bubbles in a cosy environment which overlooks the dramatic landscape around Antibes. There are plenty of Michelin star restaurants to delve into, notably the Restaurant de Bacon, which all provide exquisite gastronomic experiences before heading down to the lively elite nightlife.

Day 5: Antibes to Nice

There is one more treasure along the Côte d’Azur that must be experienced before you land in Monaco. That treasure is the energetic and cultural city of Nice. Situated below the imposing Alps landscape, Nice is home to vibrant street life and a relaxing beach atmosphere which is enhanced by its warm Mediterranean climate. It is certainly worth a visit in festival season, when you can witness the city at its raucous best. Otherwise, browse the elegant Avenue de Verdun and Rue St Gaetan for premier designer boutique and fine shopping. Head to Vieux Nice to become well and truly acquainted with the old town charm, with alluring alleyways and plenty of treats including fine wines to be sampled along the way. This is also home to the famous Matisse Museum, displaying the most intriguing works of artist Henri Matisse, who was very much inspired by Nice. The port is a hive of superyacht activity, comfortably accommodating the largest yachts in the world with an awe-inspiring surrounding made up of historical buildings and the captivating French Riviera. A worthwhile trip would be to sail over to Villeneuve-Loubet, an attractive spa town which offers a secluded escape from the city.

Day 6: Nice to Monaco

Finally, you will arrive at the crescendo of your glitzy superyacht charter in the Côte d’Azur.
