Term charters are personalized excursions with pricing calculated for each individual itinerary. Prices are quoted by using a base rate plus tax, gratuity, fuel, APA cost (Food, beverage, staff requirements, etc.), and any other fees and licenses that might apply. Our All-In prices for party boat charters include everything you need for your event. • If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

The cost of a yacht charter is dependent on a number of factors, including the type of yacht, the charter destination, local taxes, and the base cost. (If the yacht has a celebrity owner, well that too, can add to the cost.)

Therefore, yacht charters have a wide range of base prices. That’s why charters can cost from $10,000 per week on smaller sailing yachts and catamarans, up to $150,000+ per week on the most luxurious motor superyachts.

Yacht Charter Price Structure: “All-Inclusive” vs “Plus Expenses”

In the world of yachting, two types of crewed yacht charters are available to you – “All-Inclusive” and “Plus Expenses” charter experiences. What do these terms mean exactly? Here’s a quick look:

• All-Inclusive Yacht Charters – Some charters (mainly catamaran and monohull charters in the Virgin Islands) offer all-inclusive rates. That means rates are based on the number of guests, and they include all food and drink, water sports, and fuel costs. Dockage and taxes, though, are usually charged separately.
• Plus Expenses Charters – Rates for larger motor yachts do not include running expenses, which must be paid separately. For these luxury charters, the base price is for the yacht only. Additional expenses, i.e. food, bar, fuel, dockage, port taxes, and other expenses, are charged separately. Most frequently, the running expenses are paid by an Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA, which is typically 35% of the base price; this is an amount that’s paid prior to the charter.

Factors that Affect Yacht Charter Prices

Since charter yachts are privately owned, prices are set by the owner. This can explain, in part, the wide range of differences in price between boats of similar lengths. Yet, several other factors can significantly impact price, including:

• The Yacht – The year the boat was built, the builder, previous owners, and the boat’s selection of water toys can also increase the cost of a yacht. Boats can also develop a reputation, i.e. the largest or most luxurious, or having a famous builder or previous owner. Reputation can also affect pricing.
• Season – Prices typically increase in the high season – i.e. high summer in the Mediterranean or winter in the Caribbean – and decrease in low seasons.
• Destination – Your charter destination also plays a role in charter cost. For example, prices increase in areas without large charter fleets (i.e. the Galapagos), whereas Bahamas yacht charters,   BVI charters , or Mediterranean yacht charter are priced more competitively.

Additional Costs Considerations on Yacht Charter

In addition to the cost associated with running the yacht and provisioning, there are a number of other costs that must be considered. These are the most significant:

Advanced Provisioning Allowance

The APA on Plus Expenses charters equals roughly 35% of the yacht’s base price. This is a fee that’s collected prior to charter, and it’s similar to an expense account the captain can access during the charter. At the end of the charter, you will receive a detailed accounting of your APA account, plus any unused APA funds in cash.

In the case of overages, you may be required to replenish the APA account during the charter. This can be done with cash, although many choose to set up accounts with their charter brokers , which can be accessed if requested by the captain.

Taxes and Value Added Tax (VAT)

Most boats – whether all-inclusive or Plus Expenses – will not include local taxes or a Value Added Tax into their charter rate. The charterer will be responsible for paying those taxes. Taxes range significantly by destination; here’s a look at some of yachting’s most popular destinations:

• The Bahamas – Tax: 4% plus 10% VAT
• BVI – Tax: between $6 and $16 per person per day, depending on the flag of the boat
• Croatia – VAT: 13%
• Florida – Tax: 6% for Broward County, 7% for Miami-Dade County
• France – VAT: 20%, however, 10% can be applied when an itinerary includes International Waters
• Greece – VAT: 12%
• Italy – VAT: 22%, however 6.6% (over 24m) and 8.8% (under 24m) can be applied when an itinerary includes International Waters
• Montenegro – NO VAT
• New England – NO TAX
• Spain – VAT: 21%
• Turkey – NO VAT

Charterers can purchase cancellation and curtailment insurance – which is similar to traveler’s insurance. This insurance can help cover costs if a charterer must cancel or shorten the charter. Charter brokers can help you weigh insurance options, and often offer several different options.

Crew Gratuity

While crew gratuity is certainly not mandatory, it is recommended, particularly if you were truly impressed with your charter experience. In general, crew gratuity is roughly 15-20% of the base charter rate, which is handed to the captain at the conclusion of your charter.

Delivery Fees

While these fees do not apply on most charters, you may be asked to pay delivery costs if you are not chartering in the yacht’s normal cruising ground. In most cases, you will only be required to cover the fuel for the trip.

Aquarius Boat Rental provides a licensed captain to navigate the boat for you and that is mandatory on all our boats.

Boat Rental Agreement : You'll be required to sign a rental agreement provided by the boat rental company. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of the rental, including rental duration, payment, and safety rules.

Payment : Have a valid form of payment ready to cover the boat rental fees. Payment methods may include credit cards or cash, depending on the rental company's policies.

Reservations : It's a good practice to make a reservation in advance, especially during peak seasons, to ensure the availability of the boat you want.

• Safety equipment: For your own safety, the boat is equipped with all the safety equipment required by the U.S. Coast Guards. Passengers older than 6 years old are not required to wear a life vest while underway. That being said, if you are more comfortable wearing the life vest while on board, you are more than welcome to. Does the displayed boat rental price include everything (taxes, tip, fuel…)?

The boat price shows the full charter rate (boat price, captain and mate fee, fuel, taxes). For your information, gratuity is not included in the boat price, so please keep in mind tipping the captain and the mate (15%-20% based on the Florida tax regulations).

Do I need a membership special price to complete the booking?

What is the cancellation policy for bad weather?

The decision of cancellation is at the discretion of our captains. As we said earlier, safety is our priority. So if the weather conditions are dangerous to be on the sea vehicle, our captains will not take you out. But if it’s just rain shower or cloudy weather, it’s such a typical weather for Miami (especially during the hurricane season) and we do not cancel the yacht rentals .

We consider the advisories on the trip date because it’s the most accurate one. We discuss with our captains and let you know about the updates; to either cancel with the full refund or re-schedule the trip to another day. What should I wear or what should I bring on a Miami yacht charter for max available?

We recommend our visitors wearing non-marking sandals or shoes (please no heels or booties), and bringing an extra layer of top and bottom since Miami weather is so unpredictable or it’s often chilly when the wind is strong. Make sure you also bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen which are essential for Miami weather.

Where is the pick-up location? Is parking available?

Five of our boats are located at 5400 Collins Ave, Miami Beach FL 33140. There is a parking lot at 5300 Collins Ave. in case our guests drive. One of our sea vehicles are 7910 West Drive, North Bay Village 33140 and there is free street parking right by the dock. FYI, we only do pick up and drop offs at the dock where our boats and boating are located.

What is our cancellation policy?

We have a standardized cancellation policy in order to protect both our guests and us (as a boat owner). You can cancel your reservation up to 5 days before the booking without penalty. If our visitors cancel the reservation 5 to 2 days before the start time of the trip, they will receive the deposit back. For the cancellations less than 2 days before the yacht charter date, booking is non-refundable including the security deposit.

As a renter if I have a sea vehicles license, can I captain the boat I booked ?

Unfortunately no. We do not accept our renters operate the boat even they have a boating license since it is a safety and liability issue. Our yacht charters in Miami are all captained who have captain’s license from United Stated Coast Guard that operate the boat for you and your group so that you can enjoy your times, your amazing per hour on the boat.

How long is a typical rental period?

Typical rental period is defined by the amount of time you would spend out on the water and it may vary from a quarter day rental (2 hour ), for to half rental (4 hour ), to full rental ( max 8 hour ). Biden administration says it wants to cap rent increases at 5% a year. Here's what to know.

The Biden administration is proposing a new way to keep rents around the U.S. from soaring: limit corporate landlords to annual rent increases of no more than 5%, or else they would lose a major tax break. 

The proposal comes as many households across the U.S. struggle to afford rents, which have surged 26% nationally since early 2020, according to a recent report from Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies. Although costs for many items are easing as inflation cools, housing prices remain stubbornly high, rising 5.2% on an annual basis in June. 

The idea behind the plan is to push midsize and large landlords to curb rent increases, with the Biden administration blaming them for jacking up rents far beyond their own costs. That has resulted in corporate landlords enjoying "huge profits," the administration said in a statement. 

"Rent is too high and buying a home is out of reach for too many working families and young Americans," President Joe Biden said in a statement. "Today, I'm sending a clear message to corporate landlords: If you raise rents more than 5%, you should lose valuable tax breaks."

To be sure, the proposal would need to gain traction in Congress, and such a price cap may not be palatable in the Republican-controlled House and some Democrats also potentially opposed.

But the idea, even if it doesn't come to fruition, could prove popular with some voters ahead of the November presidential election, especially those who feel pinched by several years of rent increases. The proposal is one of a number of strategies the Biden administration is promoting to improve housing affordability, including a plan introduced in March to create a $10,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers. 

How the 5% rent cap would work

The rent cap, which would need to be enacted through legislation, would require large and midsize landlords to either cap annual rent increases to no more than 5%. Those that failed to comply would lose the ability to tap faster depreciation that is available to rental housing owners. 

The law would apply only to landlords that own more than 50 units, and the Biden administration said it would cover more than 20 million units across the U.S. That "accounts for roughly half of the rental market" in the U.S., according to National Economic Advisor Lael Brainard, who spoke on a call with reporters about the proposal. 

Accelerated depreciation is a tax strategy that allows landlords to front-load costs associated with their properties, such as wear and tear. That's useful because such write-offs can lead to paper losses that allow landlords to offset income from rent, for example. Residential landlords can depreciate their properties over 27.5 years, compared with 39 years for commercial landlords.

The risk of losing the tax benefit would incentivize landlords to raise the rent less than 5% per year because keeping the depreciation would prove to be a better deal financially, senior administration officials said on the call.
