LIBRA Y has a modern and spacious interior designed by Jon Bannenberg, featuring original modern design furniture and contemporary artwork. Her large salon lounge is perfect for socializing and unwinding in front of a home theater system. Her accommodation includes a Grandiose full-beam master cabin coupled with a marble en-suite on her main deck, two double cabins and one twin cabin on her lower deck, both with en-suite facilities. Her upper deck saloon can also be converted into a bunk cabin.

LIBRA Y excels when it comes to Water toys and tenders, with new toys recently added to her collection. Her array of Water toys includes kayaks, paddleboards, Water skis, a SeaBob, tubes, a banana and snorkeling equipment. She has a PADI certified crew member who can accompany divers, with Scuba diving equipment for three certified divers on board.

A second living space / office is found on the upper deck, where original modernist furniture is used to celebrate this yacht’s aesthetic. Bannenberg’s timeless interior design extends from the main living spaces into the cabins, where rich wood tones, subtle detailing and clean open spaces showcase his talents as a yacht designer. 10 guests can be accommodated in five cabins, which consist of a grandiose master, two double cabins, a twin cabin and a bunk bed cabin. With the owner a keen art collector, charter guests can admire the yacht’s collection of sea themed black and white photographs, with works by artists such as Nan Goldin, Roe Ethridge, Matthew Barney, Roni Horn, Nobuyoshi Araki, Piotr Uklanski, Louise Lawler, Tacita Dean and Christopher William. A floating private art gallery! Stepping outside, the expansive deck spaces provide guests with multiple areas to socialise or find solitude. Gourmet al fresco meals can be enjoyed around the full length dining table, and cocktails can be sipped from comfortable lounge seating. Sun lovers are well catered for, with countless sun loungers and custom-built sun pads, in addition to the private sunbathing spot found on the hanging balcony at the front of the bridge. On the main and upper decks guests can enjoy a massage, yoga classes, or simply take in the stunning view over the Greek waters. When needing to cool off, guests can dive straight into crystal seas, take a tender to a private beach, or take advantage of Libra Y’s many water toys, which include kayaks, waterskis, an SUP, several towables and snorkelling equipment. Stefanos Magiatis Position: Captain Nationality: Greek Captain Stefanos was born in 1979 and grew up in Salamina island spending his childhood summers in the islands of the Aegean & Ionian Sea, learning through experiences that made him what he is today. A true ship and sea passionate seaman. Third generation seaman, following the path of his grandfather and his father, professional seamen in the Merchant navy. He graduated the marine academy of Hydra island and started his professional career in the field of cruise industry starting as a 2nd Officer and Chief Officer later; and after in cargo vessels, responsible for navigation, loading operations and safety ,navigating all over the world. In 2011 he switched to motor yachts which was always an industry that attracted him. When he obtained the Master Mariner License (unlimited tonnage), he grabbed the opportunity to take the command of luxurious yachts and from January 2022 joined the Libra Y. Captain Stefanos speaks fluent English. A low profile personality with communication skills who used to work under normal and extreme conditions. He is a friendly personality equipped with patience and persistence; he is able to manage people giving solutions under pressure. In his free time he likes swimming, bicycling and reading. He graduated the Marine Academy of Chios island and has served in bulk carriers (cargo vessels) reaching the rank of Chief Engineer in young age. He joined Libra Y in 2022. Languages: Greek, English Stratos Domazos Position: Chef Nationality: Greek Born in 1981 in Athens Greece, Stratos started as an apprentice in luxury hotels and awarded restaurants. Having explored through traveling around the world the food culture of various countries he took the next step joining various yachts as a chef. He prides hImself on using the freshest local ingredients available and can often be found sourcing new markets and local delicacies. He strives to ensure excellence in every dish both in taste and appearance. Stratos joined M/Y Libra Y in October 2018. Jessica Escarda Enero Position: Chief Stewardess Nationality: Filipino Jessica is a highly experienced individual with an impressive training background. Her outstanding leading skills and commitment in the interior department thrived her into the Chief Stewardess role, which she is very fulfilled with. Victor Dimtiriou Position: Sailor Nationality: Greek Viktor was born in 1995 in Halkida, Evoia Island, Greece. After school he was deployed in Special forces and graduated from 3 different army schools of Greek army including paratrooper training. After army he worked as a maritime security in Gulf of Aden for a year. His interest in maritime led him to work in yachts and make more of use his skills for safety and taking care of people on board as well as handling rough conditions in sea. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). There are a number of shared spaces ready to welcome you and your guests. The aft deck offers a generous space for al fresco dining. Her main salon features opposite facing lounges with center coffee tables and ottomans. Out on the upper deck you can enjoy the afternoon sun lying out on the sun loungers or passing time with friends in the conversational area.

Built by the Italian shipyard Cantieri di Pisa in 1977, Motor yacht LIBRA Y (Ex Solitaire of the Isles) was refitted in 2016. Measuring 42,5m (139,5ft), she can accommodate 10 charter guests, in 5 spacious cabins.

Stepping inside the yacht invites guests into a spacious light and airy ambience. On the main deck is a large salon lounge, featuring relaxing sofas, occasional chairs, ottomans and coffee tables. Further forward is a day head, followed by the full beam master stateroom. There is an upper sky lounge with seating, tables and a day head. Both the salon and the upper lounge have direct access to the exterior decks, making them each ideal for entertaining and socializing. On the lower deck are an additional 4 guest cabins, all of which boast private en-suite facilities.

LIBRA Y Specifications

There are plenty of exterior deck areas to enjoy. The main deck wraps around the yacht and provides direct access to foredeck. On the aft section is an alfresco dining table with seating for 10 and a comfortable exterior lounge. Partial shade is available from the upper deck’s overhang. Forward on the main deck is a raised sunpad space. Adjacent to the skylounge is a sundeck, offering seating, sunpads and partial shade. The top deck is a sunlovers paradise, featuring a private sunning area with generous sunpads.

LIBRA Y is fitted with dual MTU 2000hp engines, she has cruising speeds of 15 knots and top speeds of 18 knots.

Libra Y’s main living area connects with the main deck, alternately acting as a large, relaxed living space and as an indoor dining room. A second living space / office is found on the upper deck, where original modernist furniture is used to celebrate this yacht’s aesthetic. Bannenberg’s timeless interior design extends from the main living spaces into the cabins, where rich wood tones, subtle detailing and clean open spaces showcase his talents as a yacht designer. 10 guests can be accommodated in five cabins, which consist of a grandiose master, two double cabins, a twin cabin and a bunk bed cabin.

Captain stefanos magiatis.

Captain Stefanos was born in 1979 and grew up in Salamina island spending his childhood summers in the islands of the Aegean & Ionian Sea, learning through experiences that made him what he is today. A true ship and sea passionate seaman. Third generation seaman, following the path of his grandfather and his father, professional seamen in the Merchant navy. He graduated the marine academy of Hydra island and started his professional career in the field of cruise industry starting as a 2nd Officer and Chief Officer later; and after in cargo vessels, responsible for navigation, loading operations and safety ,navigating all over the world. In 2011 he switched to motor yachts which was always an industry that attracted him. When he obtained the Master Mariner License (unlimited tonnage), he grabbed the opportunity to take the command of luxurious yachts and from January 2022 joined the Libra Y. Captain Stefanos speaks fluent English. A low profile personality with communication skills who used to work under normal and extreme conditions. He is a friendly personality equipped with patience and persistence; he is able to manage people giving solutions under pressure. In his free time he likes swimming, bicycling and reading.

Engineer Thanasis Triantafyllou

Thanasis was born in 1984 in Salamina island, Greece, spending his childhood summers in the island of Paros together with his grandfather and his father both professional seamen, which inspired him to become a seaman too. He is responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of all equipment for both crew and guests areas of the vessel, manages and supervises the repairs and overhaulings. He graduated the Marine Academy of Chios island and has served in bulk carriers (cargo vessels) reaching the rank of Chief Engineer in young age. He joined Libra Y in 2022.

Chef Stratos Domazos

Born in 1981 in Athens Greece, Stratos started as an apprentice in luxury hotels and awarded restaurants. Having explored through traveling around the world the food culture of various countries he took the next step joining various yachts as a chef. He prides hImself on using the freshest local ingredients available and can often be found sourcing new markets and local delicacies. He strives to ensure excellence in every dish both in taste and appearance. Stratos joined M/Y Libra Y in October 2018.

Boatswain Alexis Giannakopoulos

Alexis was born in 1989 in Athens Greece. He has served private and charter yachts in Italy and Greece. He is an extremely refined and discreet person with a great sense of humor. He will share with you his knowledge on water sports. He enjoys spending his free time in nature and with his dogs. Alexis joined M/Y Libra Y in October 2017.

General description.

LIBRA Y is a marvelous 140 foot motor yacht built by Cantieri Navali Picchioti.  Accommodations are for 10 passengers in five staterooms with baths en-suite.  The master suite is located on the main deck and is the full width of the yacht.  Below deck there four additional staterooms;  2 doubles, 1 twin, 1 single+1 Pullman The salon has large rectangle windows allowing for the bright sunlight to flood the room.  There are long couches on both sides of the room and bright polished wood floors.  There are so many areas to lounge in the open air aboard the Libra Y.  Her aft deck on the main level has a nice table and chair area for dining al fresco and also a small table and chair settee for sitting.   Her upper deck has lovely sun bed/lounges and a shaded area for relaxing in the open air.   On the very upper deck there are a group of sun beds allowing for sunning with panoramic views of the sea.  She is serviced by an excellent crew of seven.

*She is the only yacht in Greece that has a PADI certified guide crew member who can accompany the divers

Environment | behold odora, the corpse flower, in full, stinky bloom at huntington library, thousands of visitors flocked to the huntington monday to witness the rare blooming of corpse flower, a plant native to sumatra, indonesia, known for its pungent smell..

Odora, the 26th Corpse Flower at The Huntington since 1999 , commended attention not only with its imposing presence but with its pungent aroma that earned the plant its macabre nickname. Its towering upright column and outer covering unfurled around 5 p.m. Sunday to reveal an intricate velvety maroon interior, exuding a distinctive pungent smell that mirrors rotting meat, staff at the conservatory said.

“It took its time a bit,” Bryce Dunn, conservatory gardener at The Huntington, said Monday. “I was here until 8:30 p.m. yesterday, and it was about a quarter of the way open by the time I left and then it fully bloomed overnight.”

Before he left last night, Dunn measured Odora at around 93 inches. He estimated that the plant had pushed out another two inches just before it opened.

The smell is at its strongest when the plant is at peak bloom, which for Odora was around 2-4 a.m. Monday, Dunn said. However, the smell dwindles after that as the flower, which typically blooms for around 24 hours, starts to close during the day. As of Monday afternoon, the flower’s scent can only be detected within five feet of the plant, he added.

Despite the flower’s fading smell, the mesmerizing phenomenon has attracted numerous horticulture enthusiasts and curious families alike, who flooded in as soon as the conservatory opened its gates on Monday.

“I think it smells like sardine ,” said Linda Tarpey, a Sylmar resident who was in line to see the plant on Monday. “When you open a can of sardines, that’s the smell I’m getting.”

Tarpey said she has been waiting to see the Corpse Flower bloom for 15 years.

“I missed it every time,” she said. “When we were here yesterday, it was closed. And then we realized, oh, it’s going to open, so we actually stayed the whole day and we ended up coming in, checking on it, every couple of hours.”

The Corpse Flower, scientifically known as the Titan Arum (Amorphophallus titanum),  is native to the rainforest of western Sumatra, Indonesia.

It can take up to nearly a decade to store enough energy to bloom. Once it does, this remarkable plant can reach heights of up to 12 feet and blooms for just 24 hours every two to three years.

The pungent smell it exudes is meant to attract pollinators such as carrion beetles and flesh flies. There are actually hundreds of individual male and female flowers at the base of its spadix, or upright column, making it technically not the largest flower in the world, but rather a cluster of many flowers.

“But what’s special about them is I mean, it just looks alien,” Dunn said. “It looks so bizarre and it’s massive and it smells awful. So I think it really grabs people’s attention as soon as you hear about it. And then when you see it in person, it’s just something else entirely.”

Although the flower is only in bloom for around a day, plant enthusiasts who cannot witness the phenomenon in-person can still experience it through the Huntington Library’s livestream camera:https://huntington.org/corpse-flower

And if you miss the Odora, there is another chance to see a Corpse Flower in action. The Hungtington has another plant, named Scentennial, that is set to bloom sometime next week, Dunn said. This Corpse Flower earned its name by blooming during The Huntington’s 100th anniversary in 2019, he said.

Designer Davide Benaglia comes up with a yacht design that has a modular beach area. The owner can transform this place on board the Project Hype-r into a cinema deck, a dance floor for disco parties, or both, depending on the spacing. It’s a layout that the designer has planned for his young, dynamic, and digitally native client. He gives each space a specific function. It allows for transitions between entertainment and relaxation, two themes that the modern young yacht owner seems to be looking for.

Already on board, the upper deck may be an extension of the beach area on the lower deck. A sunset lounge area awaits the guests here, ideal for watching the horizon before the dawn of the night, or just enjoying the last rays before the party begins. Drinks in hand and some unwinding moments are how Davide Benaglia pictures the function of the space. It somewhat complements the sundeck nearby, which, as opposed to the common areas, is a nook entirely for the owner.

For Project Hype-r’s sundeck, Davide Benaglia puts a private study and some living areas into place. They can help provide a secluded retreat to the owner, who may want a few moments on their own. It’s also here that they can view the open sea. Relaxation is a theme that runs its course throughout the interior of the yacht. Soft and modern palettes find their home through the walls, furnishings, and object pieces within Project Hype-r.

The designer , who specialized in yacht design with a Master’s degree from the Politecnico di Milano, even dolls up the area with a fireplace. Here, the guests can cozy and warm themselves up in times of cold seasons. The yacht’s exterior design is minimal, as if contrasting the modern interiors. Sleek lines and hush-down colors suit up the sides of Project Hype-r. The gray tone slopes when it arrives at the rear of the yacht, forming wave-like imagery that may hark back to the movement of the sea. As of publishing the story, Davide Benaglia has yet to announce the production of the Project Hype-r yacht for the client.

Soul asylum and hippo campus drop new songs, album news ahead of minnesota yacht club gigs.

Two of Minnesota's top-selling rock bands from different eras, Hippo Campus and Soul Asylum each released new songs and accompanying album news this week ahead of big hometown gigs at this weekend's Minnesota Yacht Club festival.

On Wednesday, Soul Asylum debuted its dirt-shaking new tune, "High Road," alongside news that it reunited with the Rolling Stones' new drummer Steve Jordan to produce an LP due out this fall, titled "Slowly But Shirley." The album title and its cover art both pay homage to drag-racing pioneer Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney, who was a childhood hero of frontman Dave Pirner.

A seasoned session drummer and sideman also known to Pirner from when the old lineup of his band toured with Keith Richards' X-Pensive Winos, Jordan previously produced one of Soul Asylum's best-loved albums from its pre-"Runaway Train" days, 1990′s "And the Horse They Rode In On… ." He came to Minneapolis to work with them on the new recordings at the Terrarium studio last year.

Hippo Campus already announced it would have a new album out this year on Sylvan Esso's record label, Psychic Hotline. The release date and title of the record were unveiled Tuesday along with a new song and details of it all being co-produced by a big name in the indie-rock world.

Brad Cook — an ex-bandmate of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon who has also produced for Waxahatchee and Nathaniel Rateliff — co-helmed the new Hippo Campus album with the band's longtime collaborator, Caleb Wright. Titled "Flood," the LP is due out Sept. 20.

To help hype presales , the group released a third track off the album Tuesday, an off-kilter but ultra-catchy ditty titled "Paranoid," which will be the lead single from it. Twin Cities fans might recognize the library setting in the song's music video as the historic James J. Hill Center, a few blocks from the St. Paul Conservatory of Performing Arts, which the band members attended.

Soul Asylum and Hippo Campus are both on Saturday's schedule at the Minnesota Yacht Club festival in St. Paul. The former is set to play at 3 p.m. and the latter at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by semi-local favorites the Hold Steady — who will hopefully also have some new music to share soon.
