Service rating:
Althro the staff member tried her best the experience in Sales Service wasn’t the best. I booked in good faith for an afternoon sailing online but after waiting for confirmation was told the boat was going in for maintenance. I was offered a different time/boat experience but when I asked for the 3:30 sailing I was told this sailing was in doubt. When I asked why, the information I got was that they needed a further 2 people. I said I would book and add my husband but ( due to difference in fare) on confirmation I was told that boat probably wasn’t sailing. Totally disappointed as I was so keen to go out on a beautiful day.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it. We are very sorry that you were unable to go on the sailing trip on the 13th of February. Unfortunately, these trips are only confirmed when minimum numbers are reached. As I am sure you can understand, the impact of Covid on tourism operators is severe and operators are not able to run a trip when costs are not covered. These are challenging times for everyone and we have tried our very best to assist you with this booking but unfortunately, the operator was unable to operate the sailing trip on your preferred booking date. We hope that you still had a great time in Auckland. All the best!

I had an excellent experience with Everything Travel. When I had questions about the trip prior to booking the tours both Callum and Belinda answered all my questions. It was easy to book travel and confirmations were received within 24 hours. Also, 5% discount for booking more than 1 tours with the company was a great advantage as opposed to directly booking these tours. When tours were canceled due to weather, I was provided option to reschedule or get my refund. In fact, on one occasion when I was unable to reach the tour operator to check if the activity was going to occur, Callum stepped in and helped out with the canceling the booking and processing the refund. All in all, great experience and great service.
Tour was canceled due to weather.

Service was ok. Perhaps it is easier for first timer like us if the direction of kiosk given as simply opposite maritime museum rather than along snap dragon restaurant
It was our first experience. We have a slightly higher expectations than a "cruising" sailing experience.

America’s Cup: Team NZ take new AC75 for maiden voyage as campaign crunch time begins
Christopher Reive
Crunch time has officially started for Team New Zealand.
With the launch of their new AC75 on Friday afternoon, the defenders of the America’s Cup now have a definitive window in which to work before the pack up and head for Barcelona.
While sailing in Spain does not begin until the final preliminary regatta gets under way in late August, Team New Zealand will lose weeks of the campaign as their AC75 is shipped to their Barcelona base.
Shipping time between Auckland and Barcelona is around six weeks, and with Team New Zealand having a target of sailing their AC75 in Spain in early July it gives them five to seven weeks at best to put the boat through its paces.
Team New Zealand chief operating officer Kevin Shoebridge said the team had “a couple of weeks” of trialling, testing and developing on the boat, but noted the looming pack-up was not all that far away.
“It’s a big step forward. We’re glad we made our date – or slightly overachieved on that by a few days – to get the rig in now,” Shoebridge said.
“It’s a good moment for the team and it signals the start of the final phase really.”
It will see the main sailing team reunite onboard with the power unit for the first time since they retired Te Rehutai – their second-edition AC75 on which they defended the Auld Mug in Auckland – late last October. The cyclors have been doing power-specific training while the helmsmen, flight controllers and trimmers have been working on their handling of the boat in the team’s scaled-down AC40.
That process started on Friday when the team had their new AC75 – which will be officially launched in a naming ceremony on Thursday - out on the water to get the sails up and take it for quick test run, which they got through without issue.
Team New Zealand were the second syndicate to reveal their new race boat, after Alinghi Red Bull Racing held a ceremony to unveil theirs in Barcelona last weekend. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli will reveal their AC75 in Cagliari this weekend, with the AC75s of American Magic, Ineos Britannia and Orient Express Racing Team having been delivered, with launch dates yet to be set.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see what we’ll be racing in Barcelona,” Team New Zealand helmsman Peter Burling said.
“It doesn’t seem like too far away now. We’ve got a really intense little block here before we’ve got to ship the boat, but it’s super exciting to see it in the water and knowing this is the race boat we’ll be defending the America’s Cup in.”

Team NZ's AC75 revealed at Wynyard Point. Credits: Photosport
Emirates Team New Zealand's new AC750 - the boat to defend the America's Cup at Barcelona later this year - has made its first public appearance at their Auckland base.
Transported from their North Shore build facility under cover of darkness, the vessel has been revealed at their Wynyard Point headquarters to prepare for its official launch next week.
"It is always a pretty significant moment for any team - the first time their raceboat emerges from the shed and sees the light of day," said chief operations officer Kevin Shoebridge. "These moments are some of the most revealing of any campaign.
"So much of any America's Cup campaign goes on behind closed doors, and with the utmost secrecy protecting designs and plans, but there always comes a time when you need to show some of your cards.
More from Newshub
"Although what we have revealed today is not all of our cards, it sure gives everyone an indication of our design path."
The boat will have its first competitive outing in August at the last of three preliminary regattas at Barcelona, where defenders New Zealand line up against the five challengers - Alinghi of Switzerland, Luna Rossa of Italy, American Magic of the United States, Britannia of Great Britain and Orient Express of France.

America's Cup Sailing in Auckland
In September I decided to try out the adventure of sailing on one of the former America’s Cup yachts in Auckland. NZ was the first country to be able to wrestle the cup out of the Americans hands and it is a feat that is very proudly regarded here.
With a little bit of emotion and a good dose of adrenalin, I boarded the yacht with ten or so passengers and 4 crew. This seemed like a pretty good ratio until the skipper explained that during the America’s Cup this boat was crewed by a team of 17. We were going to have to roll up our sleeves and put in some hard work, especially seeing it was Friday and the crew had decided it was the start of their weekend.
Before we could hoist the sails, we listened carefully to our safety briefing and in particular the different commands we would be given during the sailing. At a reduced speed, we navigated out of the port and into the Hauraki Gulf, from where we had a great view out towards Devonport and Rangitoto Island.
The adventure started as all but the skipper left their posts so we could take over, my job was to hoist one of the sails with a fellow passenger. Face to face we had to turn the crank as quickly as possible, we thought we were doing pretty well but laughing a little our instructor told us we weren’t going fast enough. With the sail finally up we had a moment to catch our breath but 2 minutes later we had to start bringing it down again, reversing what we had just done until we got halfway and were asked to hoist it again.
Once we had finished the process he explained the technical side of what we were doing in relation to the wind which was fairly strong that day. The “cruise” is one and a half hours in total, along with the way the skipper let some of the passengers try out taking over the helm, it was a fantastic sensation to take over control of the boat as it sailed along in the wind tilted to the left. For those who love sailing or those who can’t bear to leave the City of Sails without trying it out we highly recommend doing this cruise. For anyone who wants to do something more high energy, there is the match race where two yachts go head to head, a minimum number of passengers is required.

Emirates Team New Zealand Splashes Defense Yacht
- By Dave Reed
- April 12, 2024
True to Emirates Team New Zealand’s to ethos of shunning fanfare, on the early afternoon of April 12, the team pulled their latest AC75 from its shed and got straight to work setting the rig, launching it and sailing it well into dusk. Just a typical workday for the America’s Cup defenders, but with the revelation of an atypical 75-footer that will soon be bound for Barcelona to join the fleet for the 37th America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta in August.
While painted in the similar scheme of its previous AC75, Te Rehutai, the outward design differences of Boat 3, are “very noticeable” reported AC recon on site for the launch. At first look, Boat 3’s bustle is far more pronounced and deeper than Te Rehutai, from bow to stern, and the dramatically curved hull shape appears to put volume further outboard to accommodate defined crew pods. Unlike the high cockpit wall of Alinghi Red Bull Racing’s first AC75, which was revealed this week, that of ETNZ’s Boat 3 is long and tapered toward to the transom scoop housing the complex and critical mainsheet traveler system.
With four crew pods per side, the configuration of Emirates Team New Zealand has the cyclors positioned behind the driver and flight controllers/trimmers. The crews sit low in their pods, out of the airstream with only their helmeted heads exposed and the cyclor pods appear to be longer, allowing for the traditional head-down, hammer down posture of cyclists putting out their best wattage. Between the pods, Lidar posts jut outboard from sculpted fairings, indicating these will be permanent fixtures for three-dimensional shape scanning of either sails, structures, windspeed and direction or sea state.
With a late start, the Boat was towed to its regular waters known as the Back Paddock where sails (or mainsail skins) were loaded onboard and raised. America’s Cup recon reported and video confirms that the boat had “a controlled speed build and takeoff,” with three tacks completed in approximately 10 minutes of sailing.
Back ashore, helmsman Peter Burling shared his thoughts on the team’s “pretty aggressive design.”
“It was pretty incredible to be able to sheet on and just do a few foiling tacks straight off the off the bat,” Burling said. “It felt really good. It felt quite like we predicted it to, which is always nice.”

The best golf clubs in moscow: luxury, exclusivity, and entertainment.
By Walter Raymond
February 24, 2015
- The Best Golf Clubs in…
In Russia, the western concept of building architecturally beautiful golf courses filled with modern and luxurious amenities has found fertile ground. What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.
The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.
Golf Courses in Russia
The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. Some of them have made it to the list of Top 15 golf clubs in the world, a source of great prestige for the country.
Moscow Country Club Moscow Country Club
The first 18-hole golf course built in Russia, Moscow Country Club, hosts the exclusive PGA European Tour. Located just eight miles from the city center, this luxurious facility was created by architect Robert Trent Jones Jr . The design takes advantage of a typical Russian birch and spruce forest to provide a natural environment of extraordinary beauty.
Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club
The Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is 18 miles from the heart of Moscow, close to historical monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Designed by famed architects Paul and Dave Thomas , this 18-hole course is part of a complex that includes a yacht club, an equestrian center, and a health and wellness facility. Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is Russia’s version of a classic country club with multiple attractions.
Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club
This park is among the best in Eastern Europe and was awarded the 2014 World Golf Award as the best golf course in Russia. Located 25 miles from Moscow, it is part of a vast complex featuring an 18-hole golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus , a polo club and a mountain ski club with four tracks. The design combines classic Scottish, Alpine, and English features in a dreamy landscape.
Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia
Less than 60 miles from Moscow, this golf course with a definite Scottish design is the only one in Russia recognized as a PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) from Britain and Ireland. Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit. Last year, it entered the exclusive club of the 15 best golf courses in the world. ■

“Breakfast & Lunch among friends”
The Breakfast Club has been a locally-owned Moscow breakfast staple for 12 years. The food is delicious, and the portions are appropriate (not gigantic). They have stuffed biscuits and gravy which is biscuits cut in half with eggs and bacon in the middle, covered in in-house made sausage gravy. If you are ever in Moscow in the wee hours of the morning, this is the place to stop!!!
