Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Had an issue with incorrect payment amount being taken out of my account. That was resolved but a headache to deal with and was basically told "my bad". Then I'm not sure who contracts the captain but our captain was lazy, was stopped for the majority of the trip. Drank and smoked weed ,stole a pot of Versace glasses and only "found" then the next day after we sent many messages to the co-captain and team. To top it off, he was 30 minutes late and did not give us any compensation nor our extra 30min on the backend.

Scam company! dont book with them. Yacht owner disappeared after taking my full payment. Now the company says nothing they can do

I have chartered yachts in the past and this by far was the most disappointing experience I have ever had. The level of service provided is NOT commensurate with pricing. There were several issues with the charter of Barbatvia so I will address each one: 1) False advertisement - The website states one of the features on Barbatvia is a jet ski AKA "sea doo scooter", this IS NOT true. There is no sea doo scooter. One of the main reasons I chartered this vessel was due to the fact it HAD a scooter. When I addressed this with the captain he conveyed they would update the site - this was on Saturday, it is now Monday and the site has yet to be updated. 2) Horrible follow up - For what is being charged this company needs to be on top of their game and they are not. I specifically asked if there were towels onboard and was told yes, needless to say the only towels they had were some cheap low grade hand towels you would find at your local planet fitness gym - how does a yacht NOT have beach towels??? When I spoke with Megan (the concierge I dealt with) she apologized and stated they were on their way to drop them off - Let me re-iterate, this is a YACHT charter company and the level of service and attention to detail should be impeccable - they shouldn't be rushing to send towels over 15 minutes before our scheduled departure. Towels never got there. 3) I specifically asked (considering we are in a pandemic environment) what their protocols were for cleaning and sanitizing the vessel, I was assured that each vessel is sanitized and thoroughly cleaned prior to each charter. I am not going to say this was a flat out LIE but I will say this, I'm not sure how a vessel can be thoroughly cleaned but yet the white hand towel (mentioned above) was yellow and brown after placing it on the seating...just nasty. 4) Another reason I chose Barbatvia was because the description stated the vessel recently underwent a "light refit", so I figured the boat should look good, not dirty, and seating, furnishings, etc should look impeccable...boy was I wrong. The lay bed cushions they have on the bow were flat out nasty. The upholstery was cut up in several places. It's also important to note (again) the seating was dirty. 5) Attention to detail - as stated previously, this is just lacking. I had reviewed the menu with Megan and was supposed to have potato chips - we ordered sandwiches. Needless to say, no chips were onboard, instead they were some pita bites. Again, at this level, a phone call PRIOR to departure informing me of this issue should have been made. 6) I saved the best for last. As stated earlier, I have chartered several yacht charters in the past and have never experienced a captain who gave every excuse in the world to NOT go someplace, it actually became comical to me and my guest. At this level it is their job to ensure everything WITHIN REASON is done to ensure their guest is satisfied. Not the case with the Barbatvia captain!! To be quite honest, and this is just my feeling I cannot speak to how factual this is, but I honestly felt like they were trying use as LITTLE gas as possible, it was just honestly so tacky and low budget. I live in Miami and have jet skis so I am very familiar with the area and surroundings and how far things are. First - I requested we go to Stiltsville, his response was "oh, that is far" ummmm, NOOOO it is NOT it is right next to key Biscayne and this was at 11a I requested this...mind you I had the charter until 3p and from the Miami Beach marina at most this would take an hour, regardless, we had 4 hours to work with. Again, as a client, I don't need to hear all this, your job is to ensure I have a good time not to find every excuse under the sun why you CAN'T do something...make it happen without all the excuses. The second issue was me requesting to go to Biscayne Bay AFTER the highly debated trip to Stiltsville - we finished seeing Stiltsville at 12p, I requested to go to Biscayne Bay (along North Bay Rd), and AGAIN I heard EVERY excuse as to why he couldn't go, first it was the water was too shallow (which was not the case it was high tide), when that didn't work he said it was the bridge wasn't open, when I informed him the Venetian bridge opens every 30mins he had this dumb look on his face. Luckily, I am from Miami and am aware of where things are and the bridge schedules, however, I feel bad for those that are visiting and are not familiar with the area. I cannot state this enough, your job is to ensure your client is happy, MAKE IT HAPPEN, I don't want to hear every excuse under the sun on why you can't do something. At the end of the day, I should've just waited for my centurion concierge to provide a list of preferred yacht charter vendors, there's a reason this company isn't on their list.

Barbatvia Features

Cancelled our yacht a few days before the scheduled departure. This would not have been a huge deal but they didn't really go to any type of effort to replace it with something comparable. They offered smaller boats for a little less money and bigger ones for much more. Felt like a retrade. We ended up canceling with them and got a much nicer charter for less money. Glad it got cancelled but the service was lacking from Yachtlife.

“Amazing charter experience!” From the moment I inquired until we stepped off the boat I received the most amazing service. Joseph was so accommodating especially because there was a hurricane on my initial charter date. He made sure to communicate after the storm and made sure to get us out on the boat the next day, safely might I add. When we got to the boat the experience was so amazing. Eva and Juan were both so friendly and attentive. Eva took some amazing pictures of my friends and I. Unfortunately, several of us became motion sick however, they immediately accommodated us and made sure we were good. The boat was clean and I still enjoyed myself. I really enjoy booking through this app… it makes things so easy!

Not sure why i got charged, never asked me.

I was charged $5 and it is weird how I can’t create a log in but they can charge me $5 and I’m not even sure if this is monthly or a way to cancel. I should’ve been at least asked if I want to be charged $5 to begin with. I just been looking at rentals for the day and came across this app. Hopefully someone reaches back out and explains what this was.

Easiest way to book a yacht, especially in cities like Chicago and Miami. Everything was seamless and straightforward, and the charters were professional.

27m Spirit of Zen sinks in Dubai Marina following fire

A fire has destroyed the 26.9-metre Spirit of Zen , a Pershing 88 motor yacht moored in Dubai Marina. 

The blaze began at 11.12am on Tuesday 2 April local time, with firefighters from Dubai Harbour Station arriving at the scene at 11.18am. Footage shows four fire trucks and an ambulance in attendance, with two vessels using water cannons to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was brought under control around 12.28pm, with no casualties reported. Spirit of Zen sustained heavy exterior and interior damage and has now partially sunk.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. BOAT International has reached out to the authorities for comment.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht screamed 'I will kill you' and threw $100 bills into the water when told he couldn't use a private dock

• The owner of a Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee, per CBS8.
• The employee said Ajay Thakore mooned and threw cash at him after being told he couldn't use the dock.
• Thakore, the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, issued an apology through his public relations team.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8.

The Harbor Police told Business Insider that Holt decided to press charges against Thakore and that they are investigating the incident.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."
