I had lunch here on a Friday afternoon as a guest of a member. The views from here are stunningly beautiful. The flowers on the property are particularly lovely. We were seated by a window and had very good service. I ordered the French Onion Soup and a BLT sandwich. The soup had a delicious cheese topping, but way too much bread. The BLT was well prepared but the fries weren't crispy, which was disappointing. Our server was very attentive and the ambiance was wonderful. The star of the show here is the view of the water.

It's a privilege when your extended family are longtime members of the Buffalo Yacht Club and you get to tag along, don't mind if I do! The Buffalo Yacht Club is at the foot of Porter Avenue, just before you'd cross the Peace Bridge into Canada. We had a family dinner and lunch the next day while overlooking the harbor and waterway that divides Canada from the US. Yes, that bank of land? That's Canada right there. I giggle because growing up in Buffalo, many of us never thought of Canada as a foreign country; we thought of it as "the next town over." In these times, the club is a little short-staffed; that just gave us more time to mix and mingle and enjoy the view. One of the oldest yacht clubs in the country, founded when Lincoln was President, pretty cool.

We were here for a memorial. The food was out on a buffet, help yourself. There were assorted sliders, a cheese platter and a veggie/ fruit platter. There was also an open bar and a coffee/ tea table. The desserts were limited to store bought cookies and cupcakes. It is a beautiful venue, but I cannot judge the food that is usually served from the menu.

My first time eating here and wow! I was biased thought it might be like all the ancient steakhouses who never try anything new. We were the only people sat in the restaurant at 5 pm on a Thursday (trying to get there for sunset). The wait staff was SO nice and the food was truly amazing (see pic!). We also got the charcuterie board and fish tacos. We could not eat it all but man did we enjoy trying. Truly superb.

I was lucky to be invited by a member of the club for lunch here last week. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The space itself is beautiful and the food was delicious! The building itself is gorgeous and is a fancy mansion inside. Coming in, you feel like you're a part of history, but there is no stuffiness and no dress code as far as I know. You see people dressed casual as well as in business attire and there doesn't seem to be snobbery and an overall attitude of acceptance. I asked my friend a bit about how membership works and apparently you pay about $110 a month or so and half of that credit goes toward food that you spend every month at the club, while the other half is the membership fee. If you're dead set on eating here often and enjoying the view over Lake Erie, committing that part of your food budget to the Yacht Club may not be all that too exclusive or prohibitive, but don't quote me on these prices...I'm not a member. For food, I ordered a cup of the french onion soup and it was delicious! Extremely flavorful broth. Although it was so piping hot, that it took me at least 5-10 minutes for the soup to cool down so I could eat it. At one point, the server went up and tried to take my plate away, but I couldn't even start on it yet because it was so hot! Next I ordered an ahi tuna steak sandwich with aioli and I asked for avocado on the sandwich that was served on a whole wheat roll. They asked me how I wanted the tuna cooked and I said rare, and to my surprise: it was cooked exactly to order! The entire sandwich was absolutely delicious and a nice balanced lunch with the soup. I really enjoyed our meal here and I hope I have the opportunity to dine here again some day!

This is a beautiful venue. The views can be terrific, and very dramatic when there's a storm coming across the lake. The food here is quite good, both for planned events and just for dinner on a summer evening. There is a lot of history here and you will see three generations of the same family together all the time. It is a member only club, but it offers things the other clubs in town cant, sailing lessons and terrific views. Like other clubs, there's a formal and more casual place to dine, and the private rooms are great for weddings and other parties. Parking is often valet, but either way its easy to park here.

I've been lucky enough to be coming to this gem of a place for the past several months because a dear friend of mine is now a member. I've been here for dinners and "socials" and for Friday night events. The view is as good as it gets with dazzling sunsets to the west, the Peace Bridge to the north, and downtown Buffalo to the southeast. When sitting on the upper patio my breath is taken away at the amazing sites! The downstairs bar and restaurant, and the upstairs banquet room are both casually elegant, warm, and welcoming. Lots of windows and wood.... and of course boating trophies and paraphernalia. The friendly staff... everyone from the valet who parks my car, to the bartenders, to the hosts and servers always make me feel welcome. I honestly feel like family. There's a good wine list by the glass, and I'm sure by the bottle as well. And, everything I've ever had to eat, from soup and sandwiches.... to burgers..... to steaks and seafood..... to fun fondue and chili nights..... to upscale buffets.... to ice cream sundae bars has been wonderful.... both in presentation and taste. I never really thought of myself as a club kind of person, but the Buffalo Yacht Club makes me change my mind. Not at all stuffy. Great food and friendly service. And.... views that are absolutely amazing! I'm thrilled to be able to visit in a regular basis.... and I just may inquire about my own membership. Just maybe......

It was ok. It's a gas station along the highway so there isn't much choice if you have to stop or not. I will say, people gave me looks as I filled up my car. Not sure what that is about.

We are so pleased to say that the Buffalo Yacht Club has improved their food in quality and menu choices. They handled Mothers's Day Brunch with raving reviews and have added a Prime Rib night that is wonderful. The only issue was one new waiter that was not good but I am sure time will test that situation.

We took our granddaughter out for dinner and had a extremely disappointing dinner. When you walk in the front door it smells musty and stale. We ordered off the regular dinner menu. We waited 45 min. for our appetizers and another hour for our dinner. Two out of three entrees didn't taste very well. The clams were served with frozen cocktail sauce. The oysters were served with shavings of something like horseradish root on it and it wasn't good. It's questionable wether we will go back. It's such a shame for such a beautiful location.

A very nice, casual club minutes from Downtown. To attend the club you must be a member (relatively cheap) or the guest of a member. The scene is pretty mixed from 20 somethings to 70/80's. Downstairs of the club is a very nice bar. It is made out of an old large wooden boat. They offer a pretty robust, but modest wine selection, 4 drafts (currently Sam Adams Boston Lager, Amstel Light, Molson, and Stella Artois). There is also a casual "grill" in the bar area. Grill menu is available, or you can order off the dining menu. Upstairs is the main dining room. It has it's own bar, but much smaller. The kitchen is also upstairs. I prefer to eat downstairs. There are beautiful views of the upper river and the Canadian shore. Now for the food. It's pretty good. It is not a dining destination, or fine-dining. It is casual, high-quality food. It is my favorite waterfront restaurant (better than Shanghai Reds, Dock at The Bay, Doug's Dive). I went here for dinner last night (like most fridays). Four of us were there and here is the breakdown of our courses: (1) Soup. Bowls of cajun clam chowder. It was delicious, a little heat, and tons of large, tender clams. My other half always has the French onion soup, it was very good. The soups are consistently good. (Hat tip to the restaurant manager who is also a partial owner of Brodo). (2) Salad. Generous side salads with fresh greens, tomatos, cucumber, and red onion. We had ours wit blue cheese dressing and crumbly blue. (3) Entree. I had the fish-fry, instead of fried it was blackened. The haddock was fresh, moist and not too spicy. The skin is left on, and crispy. Mine was accompanied with perfectly steamed broccoli, and great mashed potatoes. Another guest had the special pork osso bucco. It was a huge shank, with the meat falling off the bone. I tried a bite, and it was nice and tender, but I don't care for pork. It was a very nice dish for $18. The final entree was a filet mignon, covered in mushrooms and gorgonzola, on top of a red wine demi glace. It was very good, and cooked perfectly medium rare. It is a little "heavy handed" for me, but I don't care much for gorgonzola. All in all, a wonderful meal. The service is impeccable, as it should be for a club, but the atmosphere is not stuffy. It is a fun place to spend an evening, everyone is incredibly friendly. Members do not need to be boaters (the wait for a slip is over a year long), there are social membships for those who just want to use the facilities. This includes a summer home at Point Abino, Ontario. There are plenty of boat slips available out there, tennis courts, beach, 2 pools and a large hot tub. There is no dining in Ontario, but there are a number of grills, and a full kitchen to prepare your own meal. This is club is a great value and a lot of fun. I hope that their will be a growing number of young members, like me.
