The Cebu Yacht Club Experience 3 min read

cebu yacht club

I’m sure it’s no secret that The Philippines can be a crowded place. It’s known for its busy malls, traffic-filled roads and the general hustle and bustle occurring throughout the streets of the Philippines.

From this vibrant social culture comes a few trade-offs, some which become very obvious after experiencing day to day life of living in the Philippines.

The fact is there are people everywhere.

Whether you are in Manila, Cebu or any other major city you will always be surrounded by people.

This may seem like a normal state for native Filipinos but for someone from a relatively small city this really stands out. When dining out, trying to find somewhere which is relatively quiet during the lunch or dinner time peaks is often an impossible endeavour.

The Cebu Yacht Club experience

These are not bad problems:

Though sometimes it’s nice to have a change. Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a quality lunch or dinner away from the usually crowded restaurant districts.

Recently we visited a quiet tucked away, open air restaurant in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu. The restaurant was called the Cebu Yacht Club. We became aware of it after a friends recommended that we visit.

After a short taxi ride from our place in Cebu city, we arrived at the restaurant. It is located right by the waters of the Mactan channel with views of Osmeña bridge. This restaurant was exactly what I had been looking for.

There wasn’t much to not like about this place. It is situated away from the main street running through Mactan island. This meant there was almost nobody walking through the area. The few people I could see were either dining at the restaurant or were dealing with their yachts.

Dining alongside the Mactan Channel

It was refreshing to dine in an uncrowded restaurant looking out over the waters of the Mactan channel; the only noise coming from the wind blowing through the trees.

I am also currently on a strict diet so I was interested to see what kind of food options they had to offer. Their menu had a diverse range of options which was able to cater to anybody. I am quite strict with what I am able to eat yet I was still able to order plenty of tasty meals from the menu with no hassle.

The food tasted great, it was all really healthy and it was a good price. I ordered their bratwurst sausage with sauerkraut as well as their tuna flake salad. The quality of the food was beyond what I was expecting considering the prices were relatively low.

The restaurant really exceeded my expectations. It had a great atmosphere and is in the perfect location while offering good quality food. The Cebu Yacht Club easily measures up to any other quality mid-range restaurant in Cebu.

Cebu Yacht Club can definitely expect to see me there again. As I noted previously it is extremely hard to find restaurants selling food which caters to my diet. Finding a place like Cebu Yacht Club is a valuable resource for me and others. You can have somewhere to enjoy tasty food and not have to worry about any negative impacts on your health.

So if your in Cebu City and you are looking for a new, relaxing dining experience Cebu Yacht Club is worth a visit.

The Cebu Yacht Club is open on weekdays 8am-5pm; Sat 8am-12pm.

Tatler Asia

Luxury of sailing: six yacht clubs to dock at in the philippines.

cebu yacht club fishing

With its beautiful beaches, pristine waters, delicious cuisine, and warm climate, the Philippines beholds sailing luxuries for all to enjoy.

“When sailing, all the pressures — of work, trouble in the office, or home —disappear because you’re thinking about the sea, the wind, the destination, and you’re enjoying the beautiful scenery,” Europa Yachts Managing Director Robin Wyatt said. Being out on a boat is a time when one can truly relax. It is a luxury not only for financial investment but also for the soul’s well-being. As the cool a mihan wind gusts in Philippine bay areas, Philippine Tatler lists down six yacht clubs in the country best to berth, explore, and relax at.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro N13° 30.75’ E120 ° 57.25’ (+63943.287.3401)

Situated within one of the world’s most beautiful natural typhoon shelters, the Puerto Galera Yacht Club is a recognised hub for all cruising routes in and out of the West Pacific. Founded in 1991, the yacht club offers variety of provisions, like potable water, clean fuel, and assistance for yacht repairs. It is 15 miles south from the commercial port of Batangas (across the Verde Island Passage) where spare parts for engines, generators, etc. may be purchased. Puerto Galera’s surrounding beaches and coves offer all entertainment and facilities for water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking. The island is also famous for giant oyster clams, shipwrecks, the Malasimbo festival, and the popular concoction, the Mindoro sling.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu N10° 19.43’ E123 ° 58.33’ (+63932.340.2939)

Down to the mystical waters of the Visayan region, the Cebu Yacht Club lies as an oasis of restful calm. It is a full service harbour accommodating sail and motor craft up to 300 ft long and up to 6 metre draft. The club is perfect for a lengthy stay, stopover for rest and recreation, restocking of supplies, as well as major repairs. There are nearby supermarkets and other shopping centres as well as a variety of entertainment and sports facilities. A short walk from the docks is The Cebu Yacht Club Islandville, a first-rate overnight, short-term, and long-term accommodation with comfortable water’s edge studios, suites, and villas.

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Davao N07° 11.94’ E125 ° 42.74’ (+63932.385.0708)

Sailing further down brings you to one of the safest places in the Mindanao region. Located just south of the typhoon belt, Holiday Oceanview Marina accommodates visiting vessels with the best weather to offer and is guarded by tight security as well. The marina provides 56 in-water side-to berths for yachts up to 50 ft long and has a slipway for vessels of up to 60 ft long, 7 ft draft and 20 tons. The clubhouse offers laundry, and includes a bar and meeting rooms. There are also facilities for snorkeling and scuba diving, and on Friday night, all guests are invited to a potluck barbecue. There are also many tourist attractions around Davao City and interesting sites at Samal island thus the club offers scooter and car rentals for an adventurous day-trip.

Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan N12° 11.59’ E119 ° 59.00’ (+63977.201.2223)

Off to the western shores of the country, the Puerto del Sol Bay, welcomes the cruising yachts to the fabulous white sand islands of Northern Palawan. Nearby the marina is the Puerto del Sol Resort that offers guests with luxurious rooms and suites, spa, and bayfront swimming pool. Surrounding the marina are interesting sights to see like the lagoons and thermal lakes of Coron island or the African wildlife in the Calauit island safari. There are also nearby facilities for activities like shipwreck diving, reef diving, kite flying, jetski, and hobie.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas N14° 07.79’ E120 ° 35.39’ (+63977.201.2223)

For those who share a love for sailing, Punta Fuego Yacht Club is simply the best place to be. It welcomes sailors of yachts, superyachts, catamarans, and even small watercrafts. Non-member visitors may use berths for a total of 21 days. Its 30 berths and 150-trailer parking area ensures that members have all the necessary amenities, including locker and shower rooms, a chart room, chandlery, and a fuel station. Sailors may also enjoy a wide array of drinks and pica-pica at the Barracuda Bar to satisfy every craving. Hot items on the menu are hamburgers, frankfurters, shakes, and the popular Basque-style paella.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales N14° 49.20’ E120 ° 17.45’ (+6347.252.5211)

Up north is the Subic Bay Yacht Club in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, which is known for being the safest and deepest bay in the whole country. It accommodates vessels from 25 ft long to 178 ft long. With top of the line security and environmentally friendly system, the berths are incomparable. Built in 1998, it is the premier yacht club in the Philippines with a 17,000 square-metre clubhouse complete with guest rooms, presidential suites, function rooms, movie theatre, restaurants, lounge bar, and nightclub. The club offers jet boats, speedboats, and pontoon boats for rent and equipment for a variety of water sports and activities, including shipwreck diving.

On Full Gear

“We want to change the perception that [sailing] is only for the top 10 per cent of the country’s population. When you sail, imagine how many lives you touch and how many small businesses you help along the way, not to mention the globally competitive boat manufacturing businesses in the Philippines,” SEA-EX 2015 chairman Angelo Olondriz said.

Driven by the dream of having in the Philippines a full-grown maritime tourism industry, Olondriz and the rest of his team and partners have geared in promoting the boat-manufacturing industry, increasing awareness for luxury sailors about the beautiful destinations in the country, as well as persuading the government to support this industry that is still in its infant stages. With the hope that by encouraging more people to engage in nautical lifestyle, SEA-EX believes that the country will have more marinas, a tourism industry sailing on full gear, and a booming economy in coastal provinces.

Yacht Charter in Cebu

Paradise by Horizon - Special Offer for a private Motor Yacht Charter in Cebu with a crew

Cebu yacht rental

When it comes to yacht chartering in the Philippines, the industry is still at its baby steps. While there are quite a few marinas and ports specifically for yachts in the country, they are far and in between. However, top tourist destinations in the country are home to quite a good number of privately-owned yachts available for rentals, from sailors and owners who wish to share their love for sailing and luxury boating to the general public.

One of these top destinations is Cebu, also known as the "Queen City of the South." It is the country's second-largest metropolitan, and the seat of the cultural, economic, and trading hub of central Philippines. And while it is a metropolitan, with an international airport, first-class hospitals and universities, with world-class shopping and dining, pristine beaches and neighboring islands are just a short 10 to 15-minutes drive away. If you're looking for a unique, high-end, and luxurious excursion in the middle of the Philippines, then a yacht rental Cebu experience is truly an experience that you'll never forget.

Why rent a yacht in Cebu?

Cebu City is the Philippines' second-largest metropolitan and home to an international airport, several seaports, and some of the country's best shopping malls. It is the tourism, economic, cultural, and the trading seat of the country's south, and known for being centrally located, making it one of the best jumping points to the rest of the country. A yacht rental in Cebu is not only fitting for a tropical holiday, but it is one of the most luxurious excursions you can have.

The Cebu Yacht Club is the premier yachting organization in the country's south, home to a number of privately-owned catamarans, monohulls, and superyachts. It is a private and exclusive club with some of its members offering their yachts for rental. The harbor can accommodate both sailor and motor crafts up to 300 feet and up to a 6-meter draft. It is also home to several gourmet restaurants, a gym, a lawn for outdoor picnics, and offering guests a glorious view of the horizon. Take your pick from a day-cruise hopping around the different smaller islands nearby, or a sunset cruise over the Mactan Island Channel, or an overnight cruise marooned on one of the pristine and relatively unspoiled islands.

What are yacht rental prices in Cebu?

You can choose from a wide array of yachts in Cebu, from a superyacht that can accommodate a group of 50, to speedboats for a maximum of 4 people, to sailing yachts that encourage you to learn to maneuver a boat. Therefore, yacht rental prices in Cebu vary due to a number of factors, such as the size of the boat, the number of people on board, the rental duration, and the facilities onboard.

Sunset cruises are the most popular in Cebu as it involves only a few short hours, but guests experience a one-of-a-kind recreational tour onboard a luxury yacht. A typical sunset cruise could cost around $78 per person, while a speedboat rental could cost an average of $150 per hour, and a liveaboard yacht rental for a week can cost an average of $300 per night/person. For day cruises with an average of 5 hours rental duration, the price is around $800 for the yacht rental fee, with an additional boarding fee for each person on board. Prices vary depending on the company or owner of the yacht you're renting.

When is the yachting season in Cebu?

The Philippines is a hot and humid country, and it's pretty warm and sunny all-year-round. However, it does have two seasons: the dry and the wet season, with the latter being the rainy season with typical thunderstorms occurring. With that said, the wet season occurs between June to December, with the hot season starting in March and ending in May. From January to February, the air is still cool, with occasional rain showers. The best yacht charter season in Cebu is definitely during the hot season of March to May since this is the best time of the year when sunny days and humid nights are almost always a shoo-in, and most importantly, these months are when the sea is at its calmest.

Cebu yacht rental for a day

Most tourists who visit Cebu have one thing on their mind, and that's island hopping. The Cebu Yacht Club is located at Mactan Island and only about 1 kilometer from the Mactan International Airport. Once you leave the harbor, a handful of nearby islands will be yours to explore. For a full-day yacht cruise experience. The two most famous islands to visit are Nalusuan and Pandanon Island.

Nalusuan is usually the first on the list. It is a marine sanctuary and known for being an excellent spot for snorkeling. Swim, sunbathe and snorkel on the island for an hour before you dive into a Filipino-style buffet in a restaurant on stilts. Freshly caught seafood, char-grilled meats, and tropical fruits such as mango and banana are served. Once lunch is over, you get back on the yacht and cruise for a few minutes before reaching the majestic Pandanon Island with its winding sand bar. Known for its perfectly blue waters and white sand beaches, you and your loved ones can play beach volleyball, sunbathe, or swim in the clear waters. At the end of the day, get to relax on the yacht's deck, where drinks are served as you bask in the glory of the shades of red and orange as the sun slowly disappears on the horizon.

Cebu yacht rental overnight

Cebu is packed with many sights and destinations that epitomize the perfect tropical island. An overnight yacht rental can take you to further away paradises such as Sumilon Island in the south of Cebu, where whale sharks are a regular sight. Alternatively, you can charter a yacht to Moalboal, also to the south, where scuba diving is a must; or to nearby Camotes Island, which has a lake, a beautiful white sand beach, and a perfectly rural, slow-paced setting. Your yacht rental can dock on the bay of these destinations, where you and your loved ones can stay in the yacht's cabins and enjoy life on-board for the night. Come morning, hop off the boat, explore the islands, and get back to Cebu as the sun sets or as the Cebu skyline starts to light up.

Cebu yacht rental for a week

If you prefer the more in-depth yacht cruise experience in Cebu, then a full week yacht rental or a liveaboard is the best choice. You and your loved ones can live on the yacht for an entire week, while you can explore a different island or many islands all in one day. One of the most popular is Malapascua Island, found on the northern tip of Cebu province, and known for daily thresher shark sightings. If you wish to go to the other notable islands nearby, such as Negros, Siquijor, or Bohol, you may do so as well and disembark on these islands for more adventure.

Wedding yacht rental in Cebu

Cebu is one of the best wedding destinations in the Philippines and for a good reason. World-class venues are abundant, but also 5-star resorts, and plenty of exciting activities. One of which is a yacht wedding, where the ceremony can take place on Pandanon's sandbar chapel, and end with a sunset cruise over the Mactan Channel. Or, the entire wedding could happen on your rented yacht itself. There are rental yachts in Cebu that can accommodate a group of 50 for an intimate onboard wedding. You can anchor in the middle of the Bohol Sea, where you can exchange your vows and celebrate the union on deck. And to top it all off, end your special day with a magical sunset cruise before you get back to the harbor.

Corporate yacht rental in Cebu

Cebu is home to thousands of businesses, factories, manufacturing facilities, 5-star hotels, corporations, and some of the world's best shopping. It is no surprise that corporate events are a common occurrence in the city. While most of these events happen in high-end hotels, a corporate yacht rental can supersize the possibilities. Treat your bosses to a glass of wine and dine on the yacht while you cruise over the Mactan Channel, with the two majestic Mactan bridges as your glorious views. Or impress a client with a 2-hour sunset cruise on board a catamaran.

When you need to impress a VIP or treat your employees to VIP treatment, a corporate yacht rental is the best way to do it in Cebu. Living the high life is a much-deserved treat for anyone who works hard to live life to the fullest. When you've got the best of both worlds, such as the city of Cebu being a metropolitan and having natural resources within 10 minutes, a yacht rental will truly create unforgettable memories with your family, friends, and colleagues.

Cebu Yacht Club

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

My friend recommended Mr Crab at Cebu Yacht Club for our dinner celebration. We were just lucky that there were live crabs that time. We had them cooked, butter garlic and chili crab. And when it finally arrived in our table, VIOLA! The carb was... soooo good. There’s a lot of meat! The meat was sweet thus you know it’s fresh! Sulit for the price! Definitely, something to look forward when we visit Cebu again. happy tummy happy family❤️ More

We were very excited when we knew that our year end party will be held at Cebu Yacht Club and that's not all, we will be cruising on a yacht! The experience was superb plus the food from bucket shrimps were the bomb! There are... also more restaurants available at the place and I will surely try them one day. More

For all Sailors this is a good place to stop over and plan the voyage through the Philippines Archipelago

Upon entering you will see a big vacant lot for parking and 2 restaurants. Then you will see a small gate to go over the other side where there is a gaming house or a poker club and another restaurant. Go around the area you... will see the spectacular view of the ocean, the different kinds of yacht that are parked there and if you get hungry just go over one of the restaurants and enjoy the great view and food of the place. It was a great experience, lot of good restaurants to choose, the place was excellent, Good place to date or hangout with friends.

8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In

Yacht Clubs and Marinas

FoodfindsAsia.com | 8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In | Filipinos’ history as a maritime people date back to prehistoric times. In fact, the Philippines’ basic sociopolitical unit today, the barangay, traces its etymological origins to the balangay , the ancient outrigger boats that were used by precolonial Filipino communities to explore and conquer islands this side of the Pacific. As a people belonging to a seafaring culture, it’s no wonder that modern Filipinos are taking a retrospective look at their glorious past as Austronesian mariners and are developing a renewed love for the ocean and marinas as present-day yachtsmen.

Today, Philippine marinas look to accommodate more and more yachts and other pleasure watercrafts as the years go by. In 2017, an ASEAN Briefing op-ed piece named the Philippines as a country with high potential in yacht industry growth. The natural beauty of the Philippine islands and its fantastic bays, combined with a growing interest in leisurely sea travel, can explain the spike in yachting activities throughout the country.

Are you part of the demographic that’s become enamored of the yachting lifestyle? Do you want to know where in the country you can berth your watercraft? Leading sailboat and motorboat authority Europa Yachts is happy to enter the conversation, and recommends the following locations for discovering the Philippines through yachting. Here is a short list of clubs and marinas in the country, organized by island region.

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. It operates in the deepest bay in the country, and can host vessels well beyond 50 meters in length. Already benefitting from the innate beauty of the Zambales mountains surrounding it, the club hosts a number of other attractions, including its luxury accommodations, swimming pools, and its own movie theater, bowling alley, and nightclub. Those who venture outside of the club’s premises can also shop for well-priced imported goods at the Subic Freeport Zone, engage in water sports , or sign up for diving excursions.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas

Peaceful Punta Fuego is a mecca for those who love the sport of sailing. As per its official website, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club aims to serve “a dynamic and vibrant community of boat enthusiasts and yacht owners.” This it does by playing host to a diverse population of watercrafts, from large catamarans and mono-hull yachts to small boats. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. When not atop the deck of a boat, travelers can also explore the lagoons and freshwater lakes of Coron, go shipwreck diving, or relax in the hot springs of Maquinit.

Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

Iloilo Province is home to some of the country’s most beautiful old-world architecture, a flourishing ecotourism industry, and delectably fresh seafood cuisine. What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. The club accepts visitors and encourages membership in the case of medium and long-stay mooring. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.

There’s no better way to discover the Philippines from end to end than getting onboard a seaworthy vessel and going on a long cruise, with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the country. Find a safe harbor in any of these major clubs and marinas, and participate in the renaissance of sailing in the Philippines.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Cebu

Sailing the tranquil waters of Cebu is an experience that remains etched in the hearts of many. With its stunning archipelago, abundant marine life, and sun-kissed beaches, the question isn’t whether to sail, but how? At Yachting.Rent, we simplify this choice for you, offering insights on whether a sailing boat or a catamaran best suits your Cebu adventure.

Sailing Boat: Embrace Tradition and Elegance

For those who cherish the classic feel of sailing, our boats are the ideal pick. Here’s why:

Intimacy: Sailing boats, with their compact design, offer a more intimate experience. Perfect for couples or small groups seeking a close-knit journey.

Sailing Prowess: Experience the raw sensation of wind and waves as the boat tilts slightly, ensuring a genuine sailing experience.

Navigational Ease: Their slender design allows for better maneuverability, especially when exploring Cebu’s secluded coves and narrow channels.

Catamaran: Space, Stability, and Splendor

If you’re looking for a blend of comfort and space, catamarans stand out. Here’s what they bring to the table:

Stability: With dual hulls, catamarans offer a more stable voyage, making them perfect for families or those new to sailing.

Spaciousness: Enjoy expansive deck spaces, larger cabins, and lounging areas – ideal for group gatherings or parties.

Shallow Draft: This design aspect allows catamarans to anchor closer to the beach, giving you direct access to Cebu’s pristine sands.

Why Sail with Yachting.Rent?

No matter the vessel you choose, Yachting.Rent ensures a seamless experience. Our boats and catamarans are maintained to impeccable standards, fitted with modern amenities, and manned by seasoned crews familiar with Cebu’s waters. We also offer tailored itineraries, ensuring you visit the best spots and indulge in authentic local experiences.

Embark on your Cebu adventure with Yachting.Rent. Whether you’re swayed by the romance of a sailing boat or the grandeur of a catamaran, we have the perfect vessel waiting.
