Welcome to B52 - a Sydney 41 design yacht in 2B, 2C and 1E commercial survey with provisions for skippered charters, recreational sailing, and professional courses recognised world-wide with race capabilities. B52 is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences including all safety equipment necessary to provide a self-contained holiday afloat.  

B52 a "grand prix" Sydney 41, (Sistership to Raptor who won the 50th Sydney to Hobart yacht race in 1996) was crowned the PHS overall winner of the of the Pittwater to Coffs Harbour yacht race in 2012. She continues her pedigree today with a comfortable interior that just happens to sail extremely fast!

If you haven't been on a yacht before, fear not!  Our skilled crew will take care of you and take time to ensure that everyone understands safety on the boat.  Before we take off, you will understand where everything is on the boat that you need to know, and what you will need to do once we set sail!

After 2012, B52 was crowned the 2016 Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Commodore's Cup Winner and the 2016 Queensland Cruising Yacht Club Bribe Cup Winner!!

52 FLY - The Absolute Direction

The Absolute 52 FLY is a new direction, a ground-breaking example of marine architecture that offers Absolute’s trademark features, including many that are found only on much larger yachts.

Everything was designed to ensure an exceptional cruising experience, with sensations of comfort and space heightened by ample headroom , a minimal use of steps, extensive glazing and countless design details that facilitate life on board for guests and crew.

The 52 FLY’s stunning flybridge is a luxurious platform for enjoying the sea from a lofty viewpoint. The helm station , complete with ergonomic seats and large MFDs offering fingertip control of all onboard systems, is accompanied by settees so that the owner-captain can enjoy good company even when at the controls. With a dining table , a galley and bar unit , the flybridge is a privileged location for life on board, where moments of total relaxation can be enjoyed on its stern terrace area with modular furnishing.

The cockpit terrace , always a highlight of Absolute yachts, is a flexible space that pampers guests from morning to evening. Its modular furniture can be arranged as required, and the adjustable shades ensure comfort as the day progresses. There is easy access to the stern platform for close contact with the sea, and magical moments at sunset can be accompanied by the delights prepared in the nearby wet bar and galley. Absolute’s attention to the best possible views can be seen in the glazed stern parapet and the open gunwale design.

The use of extensive glazing , a familiar Absolute trademark, is particularly visible in the saloon , from where there are fantastic 360-degree views. In addition to air conditioning, natural ventilation can be provided by the electrically-controlled vertically sliding windows. The galley is fully equipped, and, unusually for boats of this size, there is also a spacious pantry .

The main helm station , in direct contact with the saloon, is in a position that ensures optimum visibility, and it features advanced infotronics and comprehensive on-screen monitoring of all on-board systems. A door is conveniently placed for rapid transit from the main helm station to the lateral walkway, facilitating harbour manoeuvres.

The bow location of the master cabin ensures peace, silence and privacy. Its full-beam layout optimises space, with a large double berth accessible from all three sides, extensive cupboards and storage units, and a superb marble bathroom .

The VIP guest cabin midships could in every way be considered a second master, in terms of space, headroom, en-suite bathroom and finish. The third guest cabin has an electricalsystem, fitted as standard, for seamless transformation from twin berths to double. In addition, there is a versatile crew cabin , with practical access from the stern platform.

All in all, the 52 FLY, a paragon of technology, design and performance, is the perfect expression of Absolute’s direction : exploring new routes and navigating to the next level of comfort.

Agile yet stable, the PB52 is a high-performance yacht with a top speed of 31 knots and a highly efficient cruise speed of 24. The 17’ 2” beam creates expansive entertaining areas that are furnished in golden teak and exquisite fabrics. For offshore adventures, a self-launching tender is concealed beneath the cockpit.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2024

Daniel Farmer sails  B52  out of Southport Yacht Club.  The Murray 41 has done three Sydney Hobarts, this her first since the treacherous 1998 race when owned by Wayne Miller, when she was rolled and dismasted.  Tasmanian Hughie Lewis took ownership of  B52  and raced her to Hobart in 2000 (25 th  overall) and 2001 (19 th ).  The boat, designed by Australia’s famed Iain Murray, has since undergone a major facelift and has a B52 bomber-themed hand airbrushed paint scheme done by Farmer himself.  Apart from the Sydney Hobart, the yacht has done six Pittwater to Coffs series, with PHS second and third placings, including PHS first overall in 2012 when owned by Paul D’Olier.  Since Farmer’s ownership,  B52  has competed in the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race from 2015 to 2021 and the last three Brisbane to Keppel races, Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island race weeks.
