The restaurant mainly served tapas style dishes with drinks. Choices of main courses from the menu were very limited. Food quality was good though. Staff were attentive. Nice services. Enjoyed a nice afternoon by the lake.

A good alternative to the usual busy hotspots in town is this unpretentious place with fab views of Lac Léman. The prices are a little steep for things like caipirinha but nothing too outrageous.

Have been twice so far: this summer and last summer. Really enjoyed it. Nice food, good service, the views of the Geneva lake very relaxing. Will be back.

The view on the lake is exceptional to say the least. As a bar and restaurant a centimeters away from the water, it has an appeasing and nice atmosphere, especially if seated outside (I recommend going there on a sunny day!!). The food is okay,... to be honest, for the price range I would expect a little bit more, although some of the plates were excellent. The quality of the fish was mediocre, and the little sauce they added on top just made it too acid to my disgrace, so I would not recommend it. They make good fondue, and tartare. In the end, I would recommend it more for cocktails and aperitif, to enjoy the magnificent sight of the lake as you sip a glass of wine. More

The setting is hard to beat, right on the lake front. Atmosphere is casual and very friendly. Charcuterie to share for starters followed by easily the best goats cheese salad in Geneva. Portions are very generous and beautifully presented. Even though we were there early... there was no rush to get us out for another sitting. Reservations are necessary and even though it is essentially a members club there do have visitors places. Prices correct given the location and setting. Will be going back very soon. More

There are not many restaurants really at the border of the lake. This yacht club is one of the few. They prefer members and are open about the fact that they will get the best - lake side - seating. Further back is still nice,... but since they out too make tables on the small terrace, it can get cramped and too hot (no airflow). The food is good, but not special. It's mainly the location and handy if you have a boat; plenty of guest places in their harbour. More

We had low hopes coming to the restaurant, mostly to enjoy the view. We were definitely surprised with the food quality and the location. The food is delicious with Fresh ingredients and good quality meet and cheese. The view is also amazing and it is... nice to eat with the view. The service is a bit slow and the waiters are not always nice but it will not affect your experience too much! It is a nice, small, not crowded yet very nice restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone passing by Cologny. :) More

The view remains magical as always but the food quality has been dropping this year Vs previous ones. A short list to pick from should allow for a good food but it is disappointing..... The best at the end is to go for a beer... or a glass of Swiss white wine and a planche of charcuteries et fromages and enjoy the view..... More

I enjoy this restaurant, a rare location in Geneva, where I can enjoy great food and almost touch the fabulous lake ! Cozy atmosphere, nice service and diverse clients, some of them funs of sailing on the Geneva lake make it a relaxing and fun... place to be. A lovely terrasse in the summer is replaced by the nautical interior in the winter. Sunny day or windy day, with friends or alone so many occasions to have a great meal or just a drink. More

I like going to this restaurant as it is not a pretentious snobby place and quite affordable by Geneva standards. Service is great and the food has always been top notch for me and the setting is just perfect. Be sure to pop in Friday... lunch times in the summer season as the special is Filets de Perches from the lake. Very tender with a lovely tangy creamy sauce with a side of fries and salad at only CHF19. I should add that I also had the burger here last week and it was lovely. Included caramelised onions and a fresh bred bun. More

Gorgeous evening here spent with colleagues overlooking the lake; fabulous fresh fish, salad, crispy Chablis and delicious runny chocolate cake! Super friendly service topped off a great night. I will return!

An elegant community of just over 5,000 residents, Cologny offers privacy and a country-like atmosphere, despite being just a few kilometers from central Geneva.  

The area’s prized lake views, tree-lined streets and villa-style homes have made it a coveted, glamorous home for bankers, diplomats, heirs and heiresses, and celebrities alike.

Technically a municipality of Geneva, Cologny is subdivided into the village of Cologny, Saint-Paul, Stade-de-Frontenex, Rampe-de-Cologny, Ruth-Nant d’Argent and Prés-de-la-Gradelle.

Lake Geneva forms Cologny’s natural border to the west, while the Chemin des Princes forms its northern boundary. The eastern boundary runs along the Route de la Capite, the Chemin de Planta, and the Chemin des Buclines. The southern boundary is more irregular, but the municipality stops just short of the Parc de la Grange.

Price Range

The average price for homes in Cologny is around 10 million swiss francs (US$10.14 million), according to Marc Denereaz of Engel & Völkers Wohnen Schweiz, while apartments average between CHF 3 million and CHF 3.2 million (US$3.04 million and US$3.24 million). New, top-floor apartments can fetch as much as CHF 15,000 to CHF16,000 (US$15,209 to US$16,223) per square meter. Mr. Denereaz noted that grander homes can be listed between CHF 20 million and CHF 25 million (US$20.3 million and US$25.3 million), in large part due to high land values.

At that higher price range, buyers can expect larger lots, privacy, abundant amenities, high-level finishes, and lake views, according to Dino Moschovis of Cardis Sotheby’s International Realty.

Housing Stock

The well-heeled have been building elegant chalets on the shores of Lake Geneva in Cologny for centuries. Lord Byron rented the Villa Diodati in Cologny, where he hosted Percy and Mary Shelley. There, she was first inspired to write the beginnings of  her novel "Frankenstein ."

Although Cologny isn’t particularly known for its architectural diversity, there is more variety among homes built since the 1980s, and especially in the last 15 years, Mr. Moschovis said. Villa-style properties are most common. Local restrictions, however, are specifically implemented to help maintain the residential character of Cologny and to preserve the lake views that help make the neighborhood so desirable.

There are some apartments and townhouses, located mainly in the old village and along Cologny’s periphery.

Many homes include high-end amenities such as outdoor and indoor pools, as well as homes spas, fitness centers, and theaters. Wine cellars and even private discotheques are not uncommon, said Kostas Daubassimas of SGP Finest Properties, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate.

What Makes It Unique

Proximity to both Lake Geneva and the city center are at the root of Cologny’s appeal.  

Historically, prior to the 20th century, "Cologny was where people from Geneva went to go hunting," Mr. Daubassimas explained. "It’s extremely close to the center of Geneva, which makes you feel that you live in the country, although you have easy access to the city."

Luxury Amenities

Cologny has its own downtown area, which retains a village-like feel with bakeries, florists and boutique shopping. The Michelin-starred Auberge du Lion d’Or in Cologny serves imaginative cuisine, overlooking Lake Geneva, and Restaurant La Closerie offers season Italian and Mediterranean fare.

And Geneva’s glamorous rue du Rhône is less than four kilometers away and is home to Fendi, Hermès, Christian Louboutin, Piaget and Montblanc.

The Tennis Club de Genève Eaux-Vives is located at the southern limit of Cologny and the Golf Club de Genève is just across the Route de la Capite. The Yacht Club de Genève and the Société Nautique de Genève are both located in Cologny, and the latter organizes the yearly Bol d’Or Mirabaud regatta on Lake Geneva.

In addition to its public schools, Cologny also benefits from the Institut International Notre-Dame du Lac, a private nursery and elementary school. The Léman International Academy, serving students between 3 and 11, is nearby, as is the International School of Geneva, which offers an International Baccalaureate curriculum and serves students from age 3 through 18.

Who Lives There

With the European headquarters of the United Nations, the Red Cross, and the World Trade Organization all located in Geneva, many diplomats and bankers choose to live in Cologny because of the convenience and privacy it offers. Cologny is also home to the headquarters of the World Economic Forum.

The enclave has long attracted the rich and famous, including the heirs to fortunes such as Chanel, Bouygues, and Peugeot.

The singer Charles Aznavour, tennis player Henri Leconte, and banker and businessman Benjamin de Rothschild all reportedly own homes in Cologny.

Overall, Mr. Moschovis reports that the market is returning to a more stable state. "There was a peak in prices from 2011 through 2013 or ’14, then after that there was a real correction," he said. "Prices came down anywhere from 15% to 25%, depending on the property."  

Although Geneva, and Cologny specifically, attracts a clientele from all over the world, there are restrictions on foreign buyers, including that they make their Swiss property their primary residence.  

Mr. Denereaz noted that French and Italian buyers are less interested in relocating to Switzerland, while Brexit has cooled interest from British buyers, as people wait to see how the move will affect things.

The much-debated forfait fiscal placed on wealthy buyers caused the market to go up rapidly, Mr. Daubassimas explained, followed by a significant correction. The forfait fiscal allows non-citizens residing in Switzerland to pay taxes based on their annual expenses rather than on their worldwide income and wealth, which can result in advantageous savings for those not involved in lucrative business within the country. An initiative to eliminate the forfait fiscal was rejected in 2014, although restrictions were tightened in 2016.

For the time being, the brokers concurred that it is currently a buyer’s market, and they anticipate prices to remain stable for the foreseeable future.

Sailing club offering sailing courses open to all and organising regattas throughout the year.

The Yacht Club de Genève (YCG) is a sailing club based on the shores of the Geneva harbour whose mission is to develop the practice of sailing. This is made possible thanks to our two main activities:

THE SAILING SCHOOL

In order to offer you a unique experience on Lake Geneva, our sailing school can count on:  - A qualified and close-knit team : the quality of teaching is at the centre of our concerns. In order to guarantee the best possible learning experience, we can rely on qualified instructors. They have known each other for many years now, trust each other and complement each other. - A large choice of sailing courses : from the discovery of the nautical environment at the age of 6 to the passing of the sailing licence, in group or private lessons, we offer you courses adapted to your age, level and availability. - Different types of boats for a varied experience : each type of boat has its own specificities and provides different sensations. THE REGATTAS

Since its creation, the Yacht Club de Genève has always been very involved in the organisation of regattas on Lake Geneva. Every year, no less than 10 regattas are organised by the YCG for all types of boats, both monohulls and multihulls. Among them, the Geneva-Rolle-Geneva has been an unmissable event in the regatta calendar since 1964, bringing together nearly 200 boats each year. YCG is also proud to have hosted Swiss Championships in the past (Surprise, Nacra 15) as well as stages of the biggest national circuits (D35, M2, Onyx,...). 

All this activity would not be possible without the presence and the precious support of our volunteers who help us in the organization of these events!

Location and contact.

The restaurant mainly served tapas style dishes with drinks. Choices of main courses from the menu were very limited. Food quality was good though. Staff were attentive. Nice services. Enjoyed a nice afternoon by the lake.

A good alternative to the usual busy hotspots in town is this unpretentious place with fab views of Lac Léman. The prices are a little steep for things like caipirinha but nothing too outrageous.

Have been twice so far: this summer and last summer. Really enjoyed it. Nice food, good service, the views of the Geneva lake very relaxing. Will be back.

The view on the lake is exceptional to say the least. As a bar and restaurant a centimeters away from the water, it has an appeasing and nice atmosphere, especially if seated outside (I recommend going there on a sunny day!!). The food is okay,... to be honest, for the price range I would expect a little bit more, although some of the plates were excellent. The quality of the fish was mediocre, and the little sauce they added on top just made it too acid to my disgrace, so I would not recommend it. They make good fondue, and tartare. In the end, I would recommend it more for cocktails and aperitif, to enjoy the magnificent sight of the lake as you sip a glass of wine. More

The setting is hard to beat, right on the lake front. Atmosphere is casual and very friendly. Charcuterie to share for starters followed by easily the best goats cheese salad in Geneva. Portions are very generous and beautifully presented. Even though we were there early... there was no rush to get us out for another sitting. Reservations are necessary and even though it is essentially a members club there do have visitors places. Prices correct given the location and setting. Will be going back very soon. More

Great views over the lake. We had a huge pot of mussels with a white wine sauce. It was delicious and definitely worth the slight trek to get there. Felt like we were living the good life

There are not many restaurants really at the border of the lake. This yacht club is one of the few. They prefer members and are open about the fact that they will get the best - lake side - seating. Further back is still nice,... but since they out too make tables on the small terrace, it can get cramped and too hot (no airflow). The food is good, but not special. It's mainly the location and handy if you have a boat; plenty of guest places in their harbour. More

Restaurant really on the lake, with a beautiful view of Geneva. Unfortunately the access is reserved to the members of the yacht club, so you better have a friend who is a member. Has a bar outside with free access to non members. Good fondue... and several other good choices to enjoy as close as you can get to the lake. More

We had low hopes coming to the restaurant, mostly to enjoy the view. We were definitely surprised with the food quality and the location. The food is delicious with Fresh ingredients and good quality meet and cheese. The view is also amazing and it is... nice to eat with the view. The service is a bit slow and the waiters are not always nice but it will not affect your experience too much! It is a nice, small, not crowded yet very nice restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone passing by Cologny. :) More

My first visit as a guest to this club/restaurant. Food first class, had the perch, service excellent and location to die for.

The view remains magical as always but the food quality has been dropping this year Vs previous ones. A short list to pick from should allow for a good food but it is disappointing..... The best at the end is to go for a beer... or a glass of Swiss white wine and a planche of charcuteries et fromages and enjoy the view..... More

I enjoy this restaurant, a rare location in Geneva, where I can enjoy great food and almost touch the fabulous lake ! Cozy atmosphere, nice service and diverse clients, some of them funs of sailing on the Geneva lake make it a relaxing and fun... place to be. A lovely terrasse in the summer is replaced by the nautical interior in the winter. Sunny day or windy day, with friends or alone so many occasions to have a great meal or just a drink. More

I like going to this restaurant as it is not a pretentious snobby place and quite affordable by Geneva standards. Service is great and the food has always been top notch for me and the setting is just perfect. Be sure to pop in Friday... lunch times in the summer season as the special is Filets de Perches from the lake. Very tender with a lovely tangy creamy sauce with a side of fries and salad at only CHF19. I should add that I also had the burger here last week and it was lovely. Included caramelised onions and a fresh bred bun. More

Gorgeous evening here spent with colleagues overlooking the lake; fabulous fresh fish, salad, crispy Chablis and delicious runny chocolate cake! Super friendly service topped off a great night. I will return!
