Operating Hours: 9am - 7pm

Rental Hours:  4 hrs, 8 hrs & Multiple Days

You must be at least 25 years old with a valid credit card and have prior boating experience. No boating license is required in the State of Michigan.

A $100 deposit is required to make a reservation. The balance is due the day of your rental.  Reservation deposit must be on a credit card, not a debit card. Sorry, we cannot hold a date without a reservation.

Cancellation policy is 7 days prior to rental date for refund of deposit minus a 10% processing fee. There is NO REFUND of deposit if you cancel inside 7 days of rental date for ANY reason.

If your boating time is reduced due to rain in Grand Haven, we will pro rate the balance due. If it rains all day in Grand Haven, you get a refund of deposit minus 10% processing fee. The decision is not made until the day of your rental, after 1:00 pm. THERE ARE NO CANCELLATIONS BASED ON FORECAST. For rentals of 3+ consecutive days, there are no refunds for inclement weather.

If you arrive late for the start of your rental, the stop time does not change!

Late returns may be charged $20 for every 10 minutes past the end of your rental period!

We offer discounts for veterans, active military personnel and consecutive multiple days.

Cruising Pontoons include fuel.

Sport Pontoons do not include fuel. 

Fuel consumption will vary depending on your usage. On average, you can plan on $10-$15 per hour of boating for gas. Gas dock is conveniently located on Spring Lake.

Our customers can explore Spring Lake, Grand River and the numerous bayous. Sorry, Lake Michigan is prohibited.

Grand Haven Boat Rental is PET FRIENDLY so don't leave the dogs at home!

Each boat is equipped with all emergency equipment, including life jackets.

Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes before your start time for the Check Out Process.  You will start in our office with applicable paperwork and a short instructional video.  Check Out is finalized at the dock where we familiarize you with operation of the boat, and document the equipment and safety items on a vessel checklist.

During the Check Out Process if there is ANY indication of alcohol or drug use by the renter, including smell, the rental will be cancelled immediately with NO refund of deposit.

Upon your return, please plan on approximately 5 minutes at the dock for the boat to be inspected.

Outstanding service!

We rented a pontoon for 8 hours during the weekend of July 4th and had an absolutely fantastic experience. Everything from the reservation to the rental itself was very well done, and communication was very prompt. The boat was in great condition, and the team took extra care to explain boating areas and address any potential questions. We had a perfect time on Spring Lake, and we will be back!

We rented a pontoon boat from them with a tube for the kids. This is our second year, fourth time renting form them and we have never been disappointed! We rented a pontoon boat July 3rd for the day. The staff couldn’t have been nicer from start to finish. The boat was in great condition and they gave us lots of good tips for where to anchor for swimming. We will definitely use them again.

My husband, our daughter, son-n-law, and I rented a pontoon boat for 2 hours ($150) at Grand Haven Boat Rental on a Sunday (June 2018). We were SO pleased to rent from this company. Their customer service is excellent. The owners (I think maybe brothers?) were so kind and helpful. We were somewhat novices at operating the pontoon boat. They went the "extra mile" to explain and accommodate! They assured us they would be available to help us in any way. Mid-way through our boat ride, it began to rain, so some of us got soaked:), but it was definitely one of the most enjoyable activities we did while in Grand Haven. And the customer service topped it off! We wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again!

We rented kayaks last year and had an amazing time. The lake was beautiful and it was super easy to get the kayaks to it. The host was amazing and communicated so well. I will be booking again!

We had such a special day. Our captain was so attentive to everyone's comfort and went above and beyond for our member who was a first time sailor with motion sickness. His company was enjoyable and never intrusive and the day relaxing because he made sure no matter what each individual wanted to do, they got to do it. Thank you for your expertise and kindness Captain!!

I gave 5 stars on everything. Would have given 6 if it were an option. Jim was Quick to respond to questions. He was very accommodating and flexible on everything before and during the sailing trip. He was very friendly and has a ton of sailing experience. It was an extremely enjoyable trip.

The trip was exactly as described. Very easy to find and go out for a couple of hours and learn about sailing and the sites to see. Communication was great, the boat was fantastic, and the captain was a great guy who will make sure you have an awesome time. We hope to do this again some day!

The weather was perfect so he was able to take us straight out to Lake Michigan but Lake Muskeegon is plenty big to sail also. The boat is well maintained and he has a wonderful Bimini on the boat to keep the sun and wind off of you, when it's needed.

Had a great day-long sail, went for a swim, and finished with an amazing sunset. Then we spent the night aboard and the next morning working from the marina. The slip location is right next to the club house, and the marina is very clean and quiet, so we had an easy time working on Wifi at the dock. Jim is super friendly and laid-back. Thanks for a great experience!

How does the boat insurance work?

Boat insurance typically covers loss caused by things such as fire, sinking, storms, and collisions. The extent of the coverage varies depending on the policy.

Do I need my own insurance to rent a boat?

You do not need boat insurance when renting with Boatsetter. Coverage is provided under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy, which is underwritten by GEICO Marine Insurance Company. The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.
