Turkey luxury yacht charter
For charterers wishing to expand their horizons towards the eastern Mediterranean, a luxury yacht charter in Turkey offers a bounty of ancient historical sights, spectacular anchorages and a taste of the exotic. Revel in a cultural melting pot in Istanbul, the meeting point of the Aegean, Marmara and Black Seas or enjoy the piercing-blue bays and blonde sands of the Turkish Turquoise Coast in dreamy locations like Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye, just a stone's throw from Greek island chains such as the Dodecanese. With a longer, warmer cruising season and fewer crowds, Turkey is the ultimate East meets West charter destination.
Turkey yacht season and weather
The charter season in Turkey runs from late April to October, with shoulder season months of April, May and October still enjoying warm, sunny weather and blissfully quiet cruising grounds.
Summer temperatures average between 26°C and 30°C but can soar well above 30°C during the peak months of July and August. Sea temperatures remain above 20°C from May to November, peaking at 26°C, making it a haven for watersports, snorkelling and scuba diving.
Turkey yacht charter itineraries
Yachts usually depart from Göcek, Bodrum or Marmaris. Göcek has multiple marinas with Skopea Marina accommodating yachts up 110 metres and D Marin Göcek accommodating craft up to 70 metres. Netsel Marmaris Marina has moorings for yachts up to 90 metres. Milta Bodrum Marina has moorings for yachts up to 100 metres.
Cruise 15 nautical miles from bustling Marmaris to the serenity of the Ekincik nature reserve, where clear cyan waters are backed by vertiginous slopes for a tranquil first stop. Take the tender up the Dalyan Çayı River to see the extraordinary Lycian tombs, the mud baths and the ancient ruins at Kaunos before cruising 25 nautical miles to one of Turkey’s most picturesque anchorages at Tersane Island.
A short hop from Tersane, the neighbouring bays around the chic harbour of Göcek offer plentiful heavenly spots to drop the anchor. Charter yachts can moor in Göcek or overnight in the hidden paradise of Yassica Adalari, a necklace of emerald islands that lie off the glittering Göcek coast.
Cove hop around Yassica Adalari before making the 10 nautical mile trip to the traditional town of Fethiye, where the ruins of the ancient city of Telmessos await. Fethiye’s Ece Marina can accommodate yachts up to 60 metres. The famous sapphire lagoon of Olu Deniz lies 15 nautical miles south and is framed by vertiginous mountains. The trendy, bougainvillaea-clad fishing harbour of Kalkan and historic Kas lie further south.
Alternatively, culture lovers may want to begin in the north at Kuşadası Setur Marina (moorings up to 90 metres), where Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world are both nearby. From there, make the 100 nautical mile overnight passage to Didim’s long sandy beaches and the nearby ruins of the Temple of Apollo. D Marin Didim offers berths up to 70 metres.
For a change of pace, the upmarket town of Türkbükü, synonymous with Turkish elite and celebrities, lies 20 nautical miles across the azure gulf. There is no dockage in the town so you can either anchor out or you can leave your yacht at the nearby Yalikavak Marina (moorings up to 140 metres). Departing Türkbükü, charterers can explore the Turkish Riviera, cruising 30 nautical miles to fun-filled Bodrum and on to the secluded coves of Datça, the Greek island of Symi, and the dive sites and cruising havens of Fethiye, Göcek and Olu Deniz.
Getting to Turkey
Commercial airlines and private jets operate from Izmir, Antalya, Dalaman and Milas-Bodrum airports. Göcek is a 25-minute drive from Dalaman airport.
Charters may use Turkey as a jumping-off point to explore the Dodecanese and the south-eastern Aegean.
Legal requirements
When arriving in or leaving Turkey, yachts must report to an official port of entry. These include Bodrum, Marmaris, Datca, Fethiye and Kas.
Yachts entering Turkish waters for the first time must also fly a Q flag and a Turkish courtesy flag.

Whether you’re after a journey into historic sites, a spot of tranquility, a touch of water sports, or simply some shopping, Turkey has something for everyone.
Turkey’s history stretches back over 5,000 years, and represents a unique blend of eastern and western cultures, boasting a rich archaeological legacy left over from classical civilizations and Islamic Middle East, with several locations of cultural significance now designated UNESCO Heritage sites.
Its strategic position between Europe and Asia has seen it act as both a conduit and barrier simultaneously between the two continents of Asia and Europe over the years. Over the centuries Turkey became more secular and Western-orientated, culminating in a reform of the Turkish language.
As a popular destinations for yacht charters in the East Mediterranean, there should be ample to choose from when it comes to crewed yachts for charter in Turkey. If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a gulet, motor or sailing yacht for your luxury getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.
Gulet Yacht Charters in Turkey
Making up the majority of the fleet in this country, a luxury gulet in Turkey can provide guests with an excellent crewed charter experience to explore secluded coves and ancient ruins in a more cost-effective manner, with a vast amount of deck space on board. Expect capped air condition times, specific hours of cruising included in the price and lower APA costs as you are mostly in bays, but expect higher fees for ports.
Motor Yacht Charters in Turkey
Guests can also select from a fleet of luxury motor yachts in Turkey, mostly located in Bodrum, Göcek , Fethiye , Marmaris , and Bozburun . Complete with larger interior volumes, more powerful engines as well as better amenities on offer, it's a sumptuous alternative to gulets. However, this is usually paired with higher charter costs.
Sailing yacht charters in Turkey
As for Turkey sailing yacht rentals with plenty available throughout summer. A combination of clement weather, clear skies and plenty of showstopping anchorages create great sailing conditions in the region.

related articles
The majority of yacht charters in Turkey commence in the country’s southwestern marinas thanks to the excellent provision of facilities, unparalleled scenery, and convenient location to both regional and international airports. Vibrant Bodrum , the picturesque fishing village of Göcek , or the enchanting Çeşme , Marmaris , Fethiye , or Antalya are all chartering favorites.
For a less obvious starting point, you could choose the tranquil bliss of the Bosphorus strait near Istanbul . However, keep in mind you will have fewer charter options available in this area.
sample itineraries
Bodrum and Marmaris are popular points to end a Turkey yacht charter, thanks to their excellent array of facilities and close proximity to international airports.
The Turkish Riviera (also charmingly known as the Turquoise Coast thanks to its vividly-colored waters) comprising southwestern destinations like Fethiye , Marmaris , and Bodrum, is by far the most popular area for chartering.
Fethiye Yacht Charters
Many begin a yacht charter in Fethiye , thanks to its convenient location to Marmaris and Bodrum in the north. Dominated by soaring cedar trees and pine-carpeted cliffs that tumble into clear blue waters, it's flecked with archaeological ruins and uninhabited islands, with plenty of bays to take toys for a spin. Fethiye yacht charters are also a great base for visiting one of Turkey’s most jaw-dropping beautiful beaches, Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon).
Göcek Yacht Charters
Göcek yacht rentals have been long adored by international jet setters. This fishing village located on a private bay is the entry to undiscovered coves and more than 12 islands of unmatched beauty. Boasting six well-equipped marinas (including two for superyachts) it’s brimming with cafes and tavernas. Before going off-shore, stop by for a traditional mezze platter or sip a cocktail as the sun's apricot glow falls on its shorefront promenades.
Marmaris Yacht Charters
A Marmaris yacht charter gives guests the best of both worlds. A superyacht haven, this buzzing town is a hub of activity: with a bustling grand bazaar, throngs of restaurants, bars, and shops lining cobblestone streets, and paragliders filling the skies above. But this is in dramatic contrast to the rest of the stunning Carian Coast which is within easy reach of Marmaris : secluded bays and quaint villages are dotted all along the Bozburun Peninsula .
Bodrum Yacht Charters
Why are Bodrum yacht rentals so popular? It's a vibrant coastal city humming with nightlife and home to a large glittering marina as well as the landmark St. Peter’s Castle. Unquestionably a glamorous beach hangout, hip restaurants and bars sheltered by palm trees frame the chic Yalikavak marina.
During a Bodrum yacht charter, be sure to anchor at nearby Türkbükü Bay for a taste of the “Saint-Tropez of Turkey" and dance under a canopy of stars. Cruise further afield and you’ll reach the olive-grove covered Datça Peninsula , as well as the Dalyan- Ekincik Bay, revered for its windsurfing opportunities.
Surrounded by the Mediterranean , Aegean , Marmara , and Black Seas , it should come as no surprise that Turkey is home to a vast array of world-class marinas perfect for gulet or yacht chartering. It should be noted that whilst the Black Sea is replete with deep valleys, verdant mountains, and crater lakes, it does not usually feature on a typical yacht itinerary. That’s largely down to its wetter and colder climate, leading to few well-developed marinas. As a result, it does not feature in our list below.
For yacht charters on Turkey's Mediterranean Coast:
- Kaş marina : recently developed and has slip capacity for 450 yachts.
- Setur Finike marina: situated in the stunning historic city of Finike, with a 320 slip capacity.
- Setur Antalya marina : renowned superyacht marina, slip capacity reaches 235 yachts.
For yacht charters on Turkey's Aegean Coast:
- Yalıkavak marina : award-winning with 620-slip capacity, catering to every possible yachting need.
- Çeşme marina: located in the illustrious port village steeped with history, it can accommodate 400 slips up to 80m.
- Skopea marina : regarded as the original superyacht marina, it accommodates up to 80 yachts, with 110m yachts tied to a jetty.
For yacht charters in Turkey's Marmara Region:
- Ataköy marina: just outside of Istanbul's city center and known for its nightlife. 700 moorings up to 40m.
- Istanbul marina : located in the heart of Turkey, with 720 moorings for yachts up to 60m.
- West Istanbul marina: highly acclaimed, it caters to 600 slips up to 95m.
The Turquoise Coast is unquestionably Turkey's anchorage paradise, studded with emerald islands with golden bays lapped by beautiful blue-green waters begging to be explored. Here is our pick of some of the best anchorages in Turkey:
- Cleopatra Bay (Manastir) : located a stone’s throw from the beautiful town of Fethiye, this glorious sequestered bay yields a bounty of emerald-clear waters atop ancient baths, perfect for anchoring and an afternoon kayak.
- Fethiye : This port city is known for its exquisite natural harbor, vast swathes of deep golden sand beaches and stunning blue waters. The area also boasts an array of ancient rock tombs dating back to 4th Century BC.
- Kalcan (Lycian Coast) : a gorgeous sheltered bay set within a charming fishing village against a backdrop of rugged mountainous scenery. Step ashore and explore this tranquil haven, which also boasts a plethora of excellent dining options.
- Kekova (Antalya province) : this beautiful small island near Kas is the ideal spot to drop anchor for the night, which also happens to be the site of a rather unique ancient sunken city. Although a popular hotspot for tourists during the day, if you aim to arrive around 5pm, you’ll have the place to yourselves.

Turkey Yacht Charter Q&A
For booking most yacht charters, a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee is required upfront as a deposit to secure your chosen yacht. This is usually payable once the contract has been signed
Turkey is an increasingly popular superyacht destination, so yacht charter guests can rest assured that they will have boundless vessel options which will meet their budget criteria.
Whatever type of vessel you ultimately choose, one thing to keep track of are the additional costs not included in the yacht charter base rate. For example, VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). This is usually 30% of the charter fee, and paid in advance. The APA covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests.
However, gulet charters usually have lower APAs. For personalized advice please consult your yacht charter broker.
Not sure whether to pick a motor yacht, sailing yacht or gulet? Browse our site according to your chosen dates, number of guests, yacht type, features, and preferred onboard toys and we'll show you what's available and within your budget.
If you make a subsequent enquiry, a yacht charter broker will get in contact to provide you with a bespoke charter proposal.
Alternatively, get in touch with your yacht charter broker directly and they can research the best yacht for you in line with your requirements.
The vast majority of yacht charters commence in southwest Turkey, with the most popular superyacht locations being Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Göcek and Antalya.
Unlike many yacht charter destinations, you also have the option of a gulet charter in Turkey. It is well worth considering if it may be right for you. Benefits include lower APA costs and considerably wide decks onboard to lap up turquoise-tinged panoramas that surround you. However, capped fuel limits and air conditioning times are common to gulet yacht charters.
Yes, it is possible to visit Greece on a luxury Turkey yacht charter. However, additional VAT and fees may apply if venturing outside Turkish waters. It is also worth noting that for convenience, it can often be better to visit Turkey and then Greece or vice versa, rather than zig-zag between the two. That's because you will need to provide documentation every time you cross borders which can be time-consuming.
For precise details regarding fees and routes to Greece, consult your charter broker.

Turkey Yacht Charters & Gulets
Turkey is a spectacular luxury yacht charter destination, with more coastline than any other country in the Mediterranean , where even those with the highest expectations will not be disappointed. The country has become one of the most important yachting destinations and is one of the most sought after charter holiday areas in the Eastern Mediterranean . A well planned Turkey yacht charter vacation is sure to allow you to get away from it all and get immersed in this beautiful natural environment the Mediterranean has to offer.
By far the most dramatic way to explore this stretch of coastline is by sailing through the pristine turquoise water aboard a traditional turkish charter gulet. One of the most photographed beaches in the Med is Oludeniz or Blue Lagoon, known for its calm, crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming, water-sports and among the best places in the world to paraglide. The Sunken City of Kekova is a protected Lycian-Roman archeological site also well worth a visit while on your yacht in Turkey.
Another interesting and historically important location to add to your charter itinerary is the ruins of the ancient city Caunos from 3000BC, easily accessible and well worth exploring. Shopping for souvenirs is best done in Fethiye, where you should also try the traditional Turkish Bath, followed by an hour long massage before returning aboard your luxury yacht. For a little more action, visit Marmaris, a busy town bustling with activity, shops, markets and nightlife; or Bodrum, with many good bars, restaurants and some of the best open-air nightclubs in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Turkish coastline tends to have more trees than the rest of the Mediterranean yacht charter areas, and you might come across a few waterfalls. Along the coasts of the Aegean and Mediterranean, you'll sail within turquoise waters and sheltered bays that were once touched by the Carians, Lycians, Greeks, Romans and Byzantines. You can also sail upon ancientruins an archaeological sites including Greek cities, sunken Roman harbours and crusader castles. It's no surprise that Turkey is such a wealth of culture, history and intrigue.
The cuisine in Turkey can be described as a mixture of Asia and Europe. In addition to the traditional shish kebabs and raki, there is a huge selection of amazingly fresh vegetables and good wine available, along with other provisions in the marinas. The largest base in Turkey is Bodrum which boasts the magnificent Knights of Rhodes fortress.
You can choose to drop anchor in the crystal clear cove of Tersane and spend your day snorkelling in the pleasant waters; Meander your way through the marble street of ancient Ephesus; Visit Kizilkuyruk Koyu with its famous beaches and magnificent sunsets; Sail to Ekinçik with its stunning red cliffs and steep wooded slopes; Visit the ruins of ancient Caunos; Soak in the sunken Turkish baths of Cleopatra at Haman, or simply, enjoy the culinary delights and lively dining at a colourful seaside cafe.
There is so much that makes Turkey a delightful location. The popularity of Turkey as a sailing destination lies as much in the fantastic Mediterranean climate as it does with the undeniable charm of its shores.
Gulet Yacht Charters in Turkey
Why choose a Turkey luxury gulet charter? Who does a Turkey luxury gulet charter appeal to?
The Turkey luxury charter grounds are an alluring choice for gulet yacht charters in the Eastern Mediterranean: They can be an extension of a Greece cruise through the Cyclades or Dodecanese Islands, or treated entirely as its own adventure along the Turkish Riviera, romantically nicknamed the Turquoise Coast. It lives up to its name with brilliant blue waters as transparent as glass and white sands powdery fine, bathed in sunshine and warmth throughout the year which lets you charter any season you desire.
Gulets are traditionally wooden-hulled vessels built in Turkey and are a great way to make that first connection with local culture through a living legacy. They offer exceptional value for money per accommodated guest and give a fantastic balance between activities and leisure. Time will fly by as you spend hours underwater surrounded by stunning wrecks and colourful fish, and dedicate days to exploration among ruins and winding city streets where galleries, museums and shopping opportunities abound. Each evening can end by anchoring in a quiet bay where the group can party on board or go ashore for beach games and sunset dinners with your feet in the sand.
The range of water toys available has increased with the popularity of luxury yachting, and jet skis, Seabobs, kite surfing equipment, kayaks, paddleboards, fishing gear, snorkelling equipment, Scuba diving equipment and inflatable & towable toys are all possible amongst each individual collection. Best of all, you'll be served by a professional crew who are dedicated to giving you first class service throughout the charter, including an expert chef that has the expertise to create delectable meals while meeting all dietary requirements within the group. As such, Turkish gulet yacht charters are popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, corporate event charters, religious celebrations and New Year.
Bodrum, Marmaris, Gocek and Antalya are popular stops in a Turkey itinerary, passing by such sights as the Lycian Tombs and other ancient wonders along the way.
What kinds of gulet are available?
There is an extensive range of luxury gulets concentrated mostly around Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean charter grounds, but also available across the Mediterranean and beyond. Guests can select from classic sailing yachts that strive to retain their original appearance right down to the rigging and engineering, to state-of-the-art builds launched only this year. This latter category might cater to the latest trends while offering anything from a completely modern appearance to a truly traditional facade.
Below are two examples of luxury gulets that have previously been available for charter; view the latest Turkish gulet listings here.
Sailing yacht RIANA is a more traditional gulet but far from a 'classic' in age: Built in 2007, she has been impeccably maintained by her Owner to ensure that she is always looking her best with cutting-edge technology making life on board effortless behind the scenes. Rich dark panelling and pale cream furnishings accented with powder blue make for a timeless and memorable environment to host a lavish special occasion indoors or outside.
Luxury yacht NAVILUX is an example of a contemporary gulet that has treated charter guests to amenities more often associated with motor yachts, such as a Jacuzzi, light-filled contemporary interiors and en-suite guest cabins that each have a famous film star as their theme. This is all with the benefits a classic gulet brings: a large interior salon and dining area, and spacious outdoor dining and sun bathing areas that let guests connect with the environment.
How much does it cost for a Turkish gulet charter?
The cost of a luxury gulet charter depends on the size of the vessel, amenities on board, fuel, food & beverages - which are usually covered in an Advanced Provision Allowance (APA) - and of course the length of the charter, which is typically at least seven days. The variety within the fleet covers a wide range of budgets and there are some that provide excellent value for money when considering that a gulet provides accommodation, transport, meals, entertainment and dedicated first-class service all in a single package.
Why choose CharterWorld? Since 2003 CharterWorld has been providing clients the world over with exceptional quality luxury yachts and crews to ensure that holiday dreams are made reality.

Sailing in Turkey - Geography
Turkey, the size of France and Germany together, is located between Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It’s coastline runs 5,176 miles (8,330 km) with the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west and the Mediterranean to the west, plus the Bosphorus, connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. The capital of Turkey, Istanbul (or known as Constantinople before), located right on the spot – dividing or connecting Europe and Asia, is a true wealth of the Byzantine Christian and Muslim (Ottoman) Turkish heritage. It is a delightful conglomerate of numerous tourist attraction: mosques and churches, palaces and castles, Turkish bathes and bazaars. Istanbul is a pure reflection of fast-changing nation. Contrasts between old and new, high-rise modernisation and lack of adequate essentials are merely shocking. But surprisingly this striking feature enchants even more travellers to this region. Origins of the Turks The Turkish people are descendants from the tribes of Central Asian nomads or the Turkmen.
The history of Turkey is as long as that of mankind. Known as Anatolia, or as Asia Minor before, this land has seen so many ups and downs of many great civilisations ( the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines an Ottomans) that it is hard to squeeze it in any narration. In the middle of the 11th century, the tribe invaded Persia, and when Baghdad fell in 1055, the powerful Great Seljuk Sultanate was declared as the centre of the Islamic world. But in 1243 it was defeated by the Mongols. During 13 and 14th centuries many Christians converted to Islam, because the Mongols offered reduced taxation for Muslims. The Mongols ruled Anatolia till 1335, then Osman founded a dynasty known as the Ottomans and created one of the most powerful empires. By the mid of 1500s, the Ottoman sultan was the central figure of Muslim world. In the 1870s, reformist movement known as the Young Ottomans began to push for a constitutional monarchy. In 1912 and 1913 the empire lost most of its remaining European possessions in the Balkan War. By 1918 only the heartland of Anatolia remained of the Ottoman Empire. In 1923 the Turkish Republic was proclaimed with the First Constitution implemented. During World War II, Turkey pursued peaceful policy and remained neutral.
Most of Turkey’s population (76 million people) follows Islam. The most devoted pray 5 times a day in mosques, while some Turkish do not go to mosques at all. Approximately 130,000 are non-Muslims, including Greek and Armenian Orthodox.
The Turkish language uses the Latin alphabet. But their greatly animated body language can deliver as much a message as a speech itself. The traditional segregation of the sexes is very noticeable. You may often come across groups of men sitting around smoking, drinking endless cups of tea, playing cards or dominos. Numerous festivals, where food and drinks play a central role, demonstrate sincere hospitality and generosity. The age-old Turkish traditions demand absolute respect of elders and cherish their children as national treasures.
The outcome of this country’s long and sometimes violent past reflects itself in its art and architecture and also alters or introduces its traditions and customs. Many peoples, among them Jews, Russians, Armenians, Greek and others have played an important part in Turkey ‘s complex history. It can be seen in mosaics and frescoes, colourful tile work, city walls, fortress and biblical sights.
Customs and traditions.
The Turkish customs, passed from generation to generation, are well-preserved in contemporary life. The Islamic tradition to circumcise boys from the ages of seven and ten is a very lavish occasion. All men over the age of 20 are required to serve in the military forces, which is considered to be a crucial step to manhood. Wedding festivities, which take a lot of preparations of cooking, dressing and dancing are one of the most impressive rituals. Traditional dress as a colourful designed costume, always goes with decorative scarves (both for men and women), dyed with a plant extracts. The traditional crafts are mostly man-made: copper and brass ware; woodwork; hand-printed textiles; quilts, etc. For example, needle lace is an intricate floral design crocheted in silk.
Turkey is a large territory for variety of landscapes and geographical diversity: seascapes, soft beaches and rolling mountains along the Mediterranean coast and deep lush forests of the Black Sea, with vast bare areas in the eastern part. About one quarter of Turkey is covered with forest: pine, spruce and cedar, as well as deciduous trees. 80 % of the country is in active tectonic zone, and earthquakes are frequent. Cappadocia is a must see geological miracle. The hardened volcanic ash (the tuff) was weathered away, creating some majestic formations. Earlier in age even cities were constructed underground, because the softness of the tuff made it easy to build different dwellings underground.
Flora and Fauna
Turkey can surprise any naturalist with abundance of bird life (more than 440 species), larger mammals and diversity of plants. Some of this unspoiled countryside zones are declared as national parks. Each area presents different flora and fauna. The forests of the eastern provinces are habitat for bears, wolves or jackals. The Mediterranean coast grows roses, orchids, lilies, daffodils, etc. Wetlands are famous for water lilies and irises; while woodlands – peonies and jasmine.
Various range of mountains and coastal line of seaside correspondently influence climatic regions in Turkey. The Aegean and the Mediterranean will produce 84F (29C) in July and 48F (9C) in January. Winter is mostly a rainy season here. Annual precipitation in Antalya is 39 in, while the rainfall along the Black Sea is much heavier – 96 inches a year. The northeast has warm summers, but colder winters with temperatures of 16F (-9C). The central plateau has hot dry summers of 73F (23C) and chilly moist winters of 32F (0 C). The coastline of Turkey predictably delivers warm summers and mild winters, with mostly sunny days throughout the year. From May till the end of August it may be windy, but it never reaches its 25 Knots Mark. When going east the winds become weaker, thus more comfortable for sailing.
All national and regional holidays can be divided into 3 categories: Religious feasts celebrated by the Islamic people; festivities associated with events or people of historic significance; traditional festivals, usually tied with a seasonal theme. Turkey has four distinct seasons and different types of celebrations are spread accordingly. In spring there are Tulip Festival in April, Yunus Emre Culture and Art week in May, and Marmaris Race week or International Yachting Festival the 2nd week of May. In summer because of the high temperatures, there is nothing better than to be closer to the seaside. International swimming race is held near the Greek island of Meis. Kirkpinar Festival and Grease wrestling Championship is usually in the last week of June. Istanbul Music Festival is a well known event for opera, theatre and ballet lovers. Autumn is a harvesting season, no wonder there are so many festivals based on the crops: watermelon, grapes, etc. The still warm sea welcomes water sports enthusiasts. International Bodrum Cup Regatta is held in the third week of October, and limited only to few categories of wooden yachts. Race week (last week of October to first of Nov.) takes place in Marmaris and is supervised by the Turkish Sailing Federation. Second week of September will attract dance couples to six-day Tango Festival, also held in Marmaris. In winter the local museums and art galleries will give you a shelter from rain and snow. Although Christmas is ignored by the Turks, New Year’s Day is widely celebrated throughout Turkey. In the mid of January, it is worth visiting the ruined Roman theatre of Ephesus, where the Camel Wrestling Championship is held.
Conveniently surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea in the south, the Aegean Sea in the west and the Black Sea up north, it is no wonder that water sports, and especially sailing, are prevailing in this area. Besides, Turkey provides the longest sailing season in the Mediterranean. There are indeed a lot of advantages for sailors in this area. Secluded sandy bays and coves, lush forested hills, ruins of ancient dwellings – sometimes are hidden from explorers and can be discovered only by water. So, “12 Knots” will give you the opportunity to enjoy this paradise with bareboat or skippered yacht charter. Once you reach your destination - sunny weather, pristine beaches, balsamic waters – will create the most relaxing atmosphere for you. Turkey provides not only its picturesque scenery, but also upscale marinas, well- equipped with secure moorings and other useful facilities for yachts. They are well-located to make it easy to get provisions or meals at the restaurants.
One of the main yacht centres, located on the Bodrum peninsula, is a perfect spot for sailing or dinghy racing. The 15 century Castle, well visible from the harbour, houses a Museum of Underwater Archeology these days. Yalikavak, used to be a sponge-fishing port, is a good place to try local delicacies: sea beans and stuffed marrow flowers.
Marmaris, which used to be a quaint fishing village, set in a sheltered bay, is now a vibrant resort and can be easily compared to the Spanish Ibiza. Marmaris is another popular sailing and diving centre with Netsel Marina, as Turkey ‘s largest and most luxurious marinas, and several smaller ones as well. There is berthing for over 750 yachts up to 130 ft (40m) long. Marmaris is a safe anchorage with no underwater currents, sandbanks or rocks.
On the way from Bodrum to Marmaris you’ll come across Gocek, a small village with 5 well- equipped marinas. The public marinas have berth for above 350 boats with a further 200 berth available in a secluded private marina. The ruins of the Roman town of Lydae, with two mausoleums and a fort, can be visible at the tip of the peninsula.

Best Time to Charter in Turkey
The charter season in Turkey runs from mid-April through October. Like most of the Mediterranean, July and August are peak months. Turkey is known for its long, dry summers. During the yacht charter season, there is little rain, low humidity, and temperatures hovering into the mid-80s during the peak months.
How Much Does It Cost to Charter a Yacht in Turkey
Costs for crewed charters in Turkey vary widely, based on the size of the yacht and the time of your charter. There is no VAT tax in Turkey, which reduces costs on yacht charters. Typically, luxury charters range in price from €30,000 to €1,000,000 per week, plus advanced provisioning allowance. Prices are highest during July and August, and fall slightly during the shoulder season.
What Is a Turkish Gulet
A classic Turkish gulet is a wooden wide-decked sailing vessel, traditionally built for fie woods like teak, maun or iroko. A gulet is a motor sailing yacht, built for so-called “Blue Cruises” from Bodrum to Antalya.
In general, Turkish gulets range in length from 15 to 55 meters, and they offer accommodations for 6 to 20 guests. These yachts typically have schooner or ketch rigging, and have rounded sterns, which offer an abundance of deck space for soaking in the sun.
Top Destinations on Turkey Yacht Charters
The so-called “Blue Cruise” route in Turkey includes the best destinations along the country’s sparkling coastline. Some top destinations include:
- Bodrum – Rich in history, Bodrum is one of the most desirable destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean. Soak up the sun at Bodrum’s idyllic beach clubs during the day, and dance the night away in the city’s legendary clubs at night. You’ll find it all here: Fine dining, shopping, museums and plenty of entertainment.
- Gocek – A rustic Old World beach town, Gocek is known for its historic city center, rich cultural attractions, and well-preserved landmarks. Enjoy a walking tour of the city’s historic center, before a day on at one of the area’s secluded beaches. The Blue Lagoon of Olu Deniz is nearby, as is Gocek Island Beach.
- Fethiye – In Fethiye, modern amenities meet ancient history. Long an important sailing hub, Fethiye is known for its beautiful marina, which beckons superyachts from around the Mediterranean, as well as the ancient Lycian tombs and its historic fortified old city.
- Antalya – Antalya is set along the Turkish Riviera, and here you’ll find more than 400 miles of idyllic coastline to explore. Nearby, the World Heritage Site Xanthos – the ancient Greek city – is worthy of a shoreside excursion.

If you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring a Charter (as that term is defined in Section 1 below) for more than just yourself, all references below to “Charterer” or “you” (and derivations thereof) shall be read to mean you on behalf of yourself and each individual within your group for whom you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring Charter.
These Terms shall be read together and construed, to the fullest extent possible, to be in concert with any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer. To the extent they cannot be so construed, then in the event of any direct conflict between these Terms and any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer (including but not limited to the agreement executed by Charterer for a Charter Reservation (as that term is defined in Section 1 below), these Terms shall prevail.
- Prepaid Charter Reservations . Typically, Broker negotiates charter rates in advance with the yacht owner or charter company (“ Charter Provider ”) to obtain cost-effective rates, and facilitate reservations and availability for yacht charters, excursions and travel (the “ Charter ”). Broker also provides services to you by facilitating the booking of reservations for consideration and receives a commission from the Charter Provider (the “ Broker Fee ”). The Broker Fee is included in the pre-negotiated Charter rate provided to you, plus taxes and other fees where applicable. You agree that your payment is for the total amount set forth in the applicable Charter agreement (which Charter Provider may refer to as a Charter Contract, Charter Agreement, Booking Terms & Conditions, Instructions and Terms for Accommodations, as well as other derivations) provided to you by Broker (“ Charter Agreement ”). Upon execution of the Charter Agreement and receipt of the applicable deposit, you will have made a reservation for the Charter that authorizes Broker to facilitate the Charter on your behalf (“Charter Reservation”), including making payment arrangements with the Charter Provider. You further agree that Broker is a third-party beneficiary to the Charter Agreement and shall have the right to enforce such agreement to the extent it deems such enforcement necessary or advisable to protect its rights hereunder or under the Charter Agreement.
Broker retains the Broker Fee as compensation in arranging your Charter Reservation. The Broker Fee varies based on the amount and type of Charter and/or services provided by Broker. By making a Charter Reservation, you accept and agree to the relevant cancellation and no-show policy of the Charter Provider set forth in the Charter Agreement. Cancellation and no-show policies vary for each Charter. Carefully read the Charter Agreement and additional information provided to you by Broker. It is expressly agreed by Charterer that the Broker Fee is earned at the time the Charter Reservation is made. Late payment, wrong credit card or debit card details, invalid credit or debit cards, or insufficient funds are for your own risk and account, and you will not be entitled to any refund of any prepaid amount unless the Charter Provider expressly agrees otherwise under the Charter Agreement or in some other signed writing.
- Charter Rules and Restrictions . Additional terms and agreements will apply to your Charter Reservation and any purchase or rental of equipment or other items, supplies, provisions and travel you may select. Please read those additional terms carefully. In particular, if you have purchased airfare, please ensure that you read the full terms and conditions of carriage issued by the supplier. You agree to abide by the terms of purchase imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal, including but not limited to payment of all amounts when due and compliance with the supplier’s rules and restrictions regarding availability, charges, fares, and use of products and services.
- Payment . All payments must be made by personal check, bank/wire transfer, ACH payment and/or with a major credit card unless otherwise expressly stated. The total price for the Charter Reservation will be billed in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise stated. Some banks and credit card companies impose fees for international transactions. If you are making a reservation from outside of the United States on a US credit card, your bank may convert the payment amount to your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the amount provided by Broker for the Charter Reservation. In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed if the financial institution that issued your credit card is located outside of the United States. Booking international travel may be considered to be an international transaction by the financial institution or card company. The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your financial institution on the day that it processes the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your booking, please contact your financial institution. Broker shall not be liable to you for any such service, conversion, or exchange fee.
Broker expressly reserves the right to cancel your Charter Reservation if full payment is not timely received as set forth in the Charter Agreement.
- Cancellation and Rescheduling . You may cancel or change your Charter Reservation as set forth in the Charter Agreement by and among you, the Charter Provider and/or Broker. Please note that some Charter Providers do not permit changes to or cancellation of reservations after they are made, or after a certain date, as indicated in the Charter Agreement. You agree to abide by the terms of the Charter Agreement with respect to your Charter Reservation. Broker will not be responsible for reimbursing Charterer for any previously tendered deposits or payments by Charterer and disclaims all liability for the failure of a Charter Provider to refund or return any such funds.
- Credit Card Transactions and Chargebacks . If for any reason, any Charter Provider is unable to provide the Charter, or any part thereof, for which you have contracted, your remedy lies against the Charter Provider, and not against Broker. However, Broker will use reasonable efforts to assist you and Charter Provider in reaching a resolution to a dispute between you and the Charter Provider. In the event that your payment has already been transferred from Broker to Charter Provider or to an escrow account, you agree that you will not seek a chargeback against Broker for such amounts transferred. You further agree to indemnify and hold Broker harmless from and against any liability, loss, damage or expense (including without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) that Broker may incur in connection with chargebacks against Broker or under the Charter Agreement and your performance thereunder. If Broker incurs any costs, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, to recover any payments charged back by your credit card company or other financial institution, you agree that you will be liable for these costs. If your payment is declined for any reason, you agree to settle any amounts owed to Broker via money order, cashier’s check, personal check or bank/ACH transfer immediately.
- Broker Responsibility . Broker makes arrangements with the Charter Provider. Broker additionally makes additional arrangements with other suppliers for the various components and other services that comprise your Charter (“Charter Suppliers”). Broker is not an agent of these Charter Providers or the Charter Suppliers (and the Charter Providers and Charter Suppliers are not agents of Broker). Broker expressly disclaims any liability for the actions or omissions of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. The Charter Providers and the Charter Suppliers reserve the right to refuse service to you at their sole discretion. Broker assumes no liability for the acts of the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers in refusing service. Broker is not responsible for schedule changes and does not offer compensation for those changes. Broker is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer, in connection with sea, air or ground transportation, hotel accommodations, or other travel or excursion services arranged by Broker.
You understand Broker is not the source or supplier of the Charter or other travel services you requested and acts solely as a broker for the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. You agree that the Charter Provider and Charter Suppliers whose names appear in the information supplied to you are those who are solely responsible for providing the Charter you purchase. You consent to and request the use of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers and agree to not hold Broker responsible should any of them: (i) fail to provide the Charter or travel services you purchased, whether or not such services are listed in the Charter Agreement or otherwise, (ii) fail to comply with any applicable law, or (iii) engage in any negligent act or omission that causes you any sort of injury, damage, delay or inconvenience.
By using Broker’s services, you waive and release any claim against Broker, its affiliated and subsidiary companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents, arising out of or in connection with any loss of or damage to property or injury to any person caused by reason of (i) any defect, negligence, or other wrongful act or omission, or any failure of performance of any kind, by any Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, or any other provider of sea, airline, hotel, ground transportation or any other travel provider connected to or otherwise associated with the Charter, (ii) any claim for inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, mental distress or other similar claim, (iii) any delayed departure, missed connection, substitute accommodation, termination of service or change in fares or rates, and (iv) overbooking, flight or other travel cancellation, lost or misconnected personal property, or any claim arising out of the air transportation portion of your travel, and (v) or any other claim arising out of or otherwise related to the Charter Agreement or services provided by the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers.
Excepting only liability that directly arises from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Broker, you will not hold Broker responsible for any injury, damage or loss you may suffer while on a Charter, whether incurred on the Charter or in connection with any other rental, purchase, excursion or activity, regardless of the relationship of any of the foregoing with the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers.
- Your Responsibility . By booking a Charter with Broker, you agree to defend and indemnify and hold harmless Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature, including but not limited to reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with: (i) your breach of these Terms or the documents referenced herein; (ii) your violation of any law or rights of a third party; or (iii) your use of the Broker website.
You will review your Charter Agreement and travel documents for accuracy upon receipt. You understand that it is your responsibility to review the accuracy of all details in the Charter Reservation provided to you, and that you may contact Broker if you have any questions.
You assume full and complete responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements of your destination(s), and all conditions regarding health, safety, security, political stability, and labor or civil unrest at such destination(s).
You understand that Broker recommends purchasing travel insurance to cover certain risks inherent in travel such as supplier bankruptcy and the inability to travel due to a medical or personal emergency.
- No Warranties . All Charters, products, services, advice and information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied to the fullest extent permitted under the law, including but not limited to, warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Without limiting the above, no warranty or guarantee is made (i) regarding the acceptance of any reservation request or Charter Reservation; (ii) regarding the availability of Charters, or any other product and/or services through Broker; (iii) that the use of Broker’s website will be error-free; or (iv) regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability or quality of any information, content, data, service, advice or merchandise provided by Broker or through Broker’s website.
Broker has no special knowledge regarding the Charter Provider’s or Charter Supplier’s financial condition, unsafe conditions, health hazards, weather hazards, or climate extremes at locations to which you may travel during or otherwise in connection with your Charter.
- Limitation on Liability . In no event shall Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and/or their respective affiliates, or any employees, agents, officers, directors, members or managers of any of the foregoing (“Broker and Charter Releasees”), be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of, or in any way connected with, your access to, display of or use the Broker’s website, the Charter or services provided to you in connection with the Charter (including, but not limited to, your reliance upon opinions of the Broker), whether based on a theory of negligence, contract, tort, strict liability, consumer protection statutes, or otherwise, and even if Broker and/or any other of the Broker and Charter Releasees have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
If, despite the limitation above, Broker or the Broker and Charter Releasees are found liable for any loss or damage which arises out of or in any way connected with any of the occurrences described above, then Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Supplier and the Broker and Charter Releasees will in no event exceed, in the aggregate, the greater of (a) the Broker Fee, and (b) One-Hundred Dollars (US $100.00).
The foregoing limitation of liability reflects the allocation of risk between the parties. The limitations specified in this section will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in these Terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose. The limitations of liability provided in these Terms inure to the benefit of Broker and/or its providers.
The foregoing does not affect any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
- Limitation on Time to File Claims . ANY CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM YOU MAY HAVE ARISING OUT OF RELATING TO BROKER’S SERVICES OR THE WEBSITE MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION ACCRUES, OTHERWISE, SUCH CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.
- Waiver . No waiver by Broker of any term or condition set forth in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of the Broker to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
- Severability . If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of the Terms will continue in full force and effect.
- Governing Law and Mandatory Venue . The laws of the State of Florida govern the rights and obligations of the parties to this Agreement and the interpretation, construction and enforceability thereof. You agree that any action or proceeding initiated by Charterer against Broker shall be brought solely in the federal and state courts of Hillsborough County, Florida, and you submit to the jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objections to the exercise of personal jurisdiction over you by those courts. In the event any action or proceeding is initiated by Charterer in a court outside of Hillsborough County, Florida, Charterer agrees to pay Broker’s costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees associated with defending such action or proceeding and waives any and all defenses to the transfer of said action or proceeding, whether jurisdictional or otherwise, to a federal or state court in Hillsborough County, Florida.

What Is Bareboat Charter?
We offer bareboat charter to those people who wish to skipper their own yacht with their friends and family as crew. At Sail in Turkey a bareboat charter does typically vary from 4 nights, 1 week, 3 weeks or more. We use our experience to identify your ideal yacht in terms of size, cabins & price. We will give you a full briefing of your yacht & the areas that you can enjoy & explore whilst on charter.
Experience of Skipper
For bareboat yacht charter the skipper should have previous skippering experience aboard yachts of a similar size to that being chartered. He/She should have an RYA Day or Coastal Skipper qualification or an international equivalent such as the ICC qualification. In addition, at least one other crew member should be a competent sailor, who ideally has sailed with you before. As with all our Yacht Charters , should you need any help, we are always readily available.
Turkish Law
Since 2013 the Turkish Authorities required that every skipper chartering a yacht must hold an approved skipper licence to charter in Turkey. The Harbour Master will not issue a transit log without seeing a copy of the skipper licence. Please bring your original certificates with you. If you have any concerns regarding the suitability of a particular yacht or cruising area do contact us to discuss your options.
Please note that if a skipper has to be provided aboard a yacht, due to either misrepresentation by the signatory on the booking form, or in the opinion of Sail in Turkey it is necessary to ensure the safety of the yacht and its crew, the cost of the skipper’s services will be at the client’s expense. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss suffered by you or a third party as a result of insurers failing to indemnify due to incorrect or misleading details being supplied on the booking form.
At the time of booking please ensure that you complete the Sailing Experience / Qualifications section on the booking form. We will require a scanned copy of the skippers licence.

Turkey Yacht Charter Vacation
Why Charter a Yacht in Turkey?
With its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia , the Turkish peninsula is bordered by a total of eight countries and is surrounded by three different Seas : the Aegean Sea to the west, the Black Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. It has over 500 islands along with 4,400 miles of unspoiled coastline which is best explored on a luxury yacht charter (motor yacht or luxury gulet charter).
Turkey offers private luxury yacht charters that typically start from Gocek and include visits to islands such as Gocek Island, Kas, or Kekova , which has an ancient underwater city that can be reached only via snorkeling or deep-sea diving . For those looking to explore the rich culture and history of the country, Fethiye Marina on the Gulf of Fethiye (‘Turkish Riviera’) provides a great starting point. This region is rich in archaeological treasures , including the famous rock tombs of Antalya . In addition, the popular Oludeniz beach , also known as the Blue Lagoon , is closer to Fathiye Marina and can be visited for stunning views and impromptu photo sessions while sailing on the luxury private yacht charter in Turkey.

When is the Best Time for a Yacht Charter in Turkey?
The season for a luxury yacht charter in Turkey is quite long and spans the summer months, from April and October . This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for sailing, with warm temperatures ranging between 25°C and 35°C (77°F to 95°F) , clear skies, gentle breezes, and long daylight hours , creating ideal conditions for cruising along the coastline and exploring the islands.
Luxury Yacht charters in Turkey are a unique experience due to the Meltemi wind , which blows from the Northwest to West-Northwest on the open water and follows the coastlines closer to shore. In the summer, the average wind speed is 10-15 knots , and sometimes the guests can have a thrilling experience with 25-30 knots in the peak season. After the peak season, meltemi is generally weaker and you can experience mild winds. We recommend large, crewed yachts such as motor yachts , sailing yachts , or Gulet Charters to give you the best experience in the winds of the Sea.
That said, while summer is the most popular time for yacht charters in Turkey, the spring and early autumn months can also offer pleasant weather conditions fewer crowds , AND discounted charter prices , making them attractive alternatives for those seeking a quieter sailing experience. Consult with an experienced private yacht charter to get the best experience for your Luxury yacht charter vacation in Turkey.

Oludeniz beach (blue lagoon).
Fethiye is a picturesque town located on the southwest coast of Turkey. The majestic rock tombs that once stood on the site of ancient Telmessos may still be seen carved into the towering cliffs of Fathiye. 15 kilometers south of Fethiye, is the town of Olüdeniz , which is known for its turquoise-protected blue lagoon , white sand beach, and National Park forest land best explored using a luxury motor yacht.
Although it is well known for its beauty and might get crowded in the summer, you are likely to find an unexplored cove if traveling by superyacht during your sailing vacation. Hop across the hill to the abandoned settlement of Kayaköy (Karmylassos) , which gained fame in L ouis Des Bernières’ book Birds Without Wings , if you’re determined to find peace on land.

Göcek is a charming town located in the Gulf of Fethiye on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Göcek is known for its modern marinas , which are popular among luxury yacht charters, with proximity to many secluded coves and bays . Frequently Asked Questions
Where should i begin my yacht charter in turkey.
With a country as large as Turkey, it can be a bit overwhelming to decide where to begin and where to go on your Yacht Charter. However, the majority of yacht charters in Turkey commence in the country’s southwestern marinas and there are two good reasons for that: First of all, the Marinas offer excellent facilities , and are conveniently located close to both regional and international airports . Secondly, from here, there are lots of great places to go. – Bodrum, Göcek, Çeşme, Marmaris, Fethiye, or Antalya are all chartering favorites.
For inspiration, take a look at our recommended 6-Day Turkey Yacht Charter Itinerary and explore Gocek, Fethiye, Gemiler Island, Kalkan, Kekova Island, and Kas.
HOW MUCH DOES A LUXURY YACHT CHARTER IN TURKEY COST?
With a wide variety of charter yacht choices and itineraries in Turkey, there’s an option for every budget . Depending on what you wish to have and do on your yacht charter the price varies quite a bit. For an accurate estimate of your Turkey yacht charter cost, you should contact our brokers . They will be able to help you draw up a plan with you based on your wishes and budget.
- Sailing yacht charter: $9,450 to $185,000 per week.
- Catamaran Charters range from $21,000 to $100,000 per week.
- Motor yacht charters: $9,450 to $120,000 per week.
- Superyacht Charters: $90,000 to $320,000 per week.
HOW DO I BOOK A TURKEY YACHT CHARTER?
Ideally, you’d inquire about a Turkey charter 12 months in advance . WHY? The best yachts are often fully booked long in advance and it’s not unusual to see popular dates booked 2 summers ahead . Inquiring less than 6 months ahead often means that your first choice is unavailable for charter. Additionally, you might find that the yacht you wish to charter, can’t make it to the port where you wish to commence your yacht charter.

E.G.G. Yachting a jewel in the crown.
E.G.G. Yachting a jewel in the crown. \r\n Wife and self just completed a 2 week sailing vacation out of Gocek. 1st week with one of the big multi nationals and the 2nd week was with E.G.G. on Melisa. \r\n Our experience.... normally we take the little things for granted when chartering, usually i pack an additional sailing bag with all the extra personnel kit to avoid any shortcomings. \r\n Melisa was grand and in great shape, in addition, its all the little things that compliment that great experience. \r\n As other posters have mentioned...., the booking, the all in cost\'s, the pre briefing and quick end clearing is second to none, and the provided local phone is very handy for its intended purposes. \r\n In addition, the safer Zodiac dinghies, gotta luv a hard floor dink that steers straight, and so much easier to step in and out of. \r\n The Admiral luvs cooking so the galley ticked all the box\'s with her, having quality crockery, pots and pans, sharpest knifes and she even mentioned the veggie / spud peeler was better than the one we have at home. \r\n The shade awning, not needed in April, but totally usefully whilst on the hook in the summer months. \r\n E.G.G., being local owned and managed truly does go that extra mile offering customer satisfaction and delivers what they suggest on their web site. \r\n and a personal note to self....... leave that extra 20kg bag of sailing kit at home when using E.G.G.. \r\n thumbs up guys / cheers andrew
Thank you very much for having us on your beautiful Joanna. Everything was in perfect kondition. Best of luck. Madolon, Alberts & rest of crew. In cooperation with B&B Yachting
Weiter so!!
A huge thank you to all E.G.G. for another super holiday. This was our third year and thias time we were on Jessie A. A wonderfull boat, brilliant weather and wind and all becked up by the fabulous E.G.G. service. It was a really special 2 weeks and we are already planning our return.
Hallo Liebes E.G.G. - Team,
In keiner Weise. Die Menschen waren aufgeschlossen, hilfsbereit und freundlich. Niemand wirkte beunruhigt.
Perfekt organisiert, die Charterfirma is absolut empfehlenswert! Am Samstag angekommen, um 14 Uhr bereits losgesegelt... Sehr schönes Revier, top Boot!! Klasse!!
Also in kurzen Worten: Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen!
Hallo gesamtes E.G.G. Team
Bitte weiter so!
Bitte weiter so!
Hi, just to let you know that it was a great holiday and the boat was definitely in great condition. For the record for us EGG has set a new benchmark in yacht charter in my opinion. Very professional in all aspects. Quality of charts, life jackets, insurance instead of the large deposit, phone for emergencies, boom shade right down to dishwashing liquid and pegs. It’s the small things that can make a holiday that much more pleasant and they certainly ticked the boxes. Thanks very much
Besonders gut: Betreuung durch Basis exzellent, rascher kompetenter check-in/out. Danke!!!
It was a pleasure to meet you. Thank you very much for our nice holiday. The Yacht was great, the service - exceptional. I want to come back again and again!
Dear E.G.G. Team!
We had such a wonderful holiday on LIONESS last week! Your service was great, the boat in excellent shape and of course Turkey itself and its people is just wonderful! For me it was one of the best experiences I ever had up to now in regards to check-in and out, general service, transfer, charter price a.s.o. I will gladly recommend your companu to fellow sailors. Thank you for your effort and making us feel so much welcome! We will be back hopefully! Sending regards from Vienna! Ingrid & the girls crew on LIONESS from last week.
Liebes E.G.G. Team
Herzlichen Dank!
Dear E.G.G. Yachting
Finally we arrived save and sound in Frankfurt. I would like to tell you, that my crew and me are totally impressed by the kind and professional way you and your staff are doing the job. The Bavaria 45 "Joanna" was in excellent condition, clean and perfect going, even if the Gennaker was a bit to small. So we had a wonderful sailing to and through the Lykian archipelago. We can recommend your company without any restrictions. Very best regards

A Turkish yacht charter is about escapism and quiet. Anchoring in a bay with the nearest other boat (if any) a good distance away. Mooring at a restaurant’s quay with just a few other boats and enjoying high quality Turkish cuisine as part of your evening’s run ashore.
You can find buzzing nightlife hotspots but these tend to be the bigger towns and cities you begin your sailing holiday at, unlike other countries in the eastern Mediterranean where you could passage plan for a week’s clubbing!
A sailing holiday in Turkey is more of an adventure and a chance to explore a unique culture where East meets West on the cultural and geological border between Europe and Asia. Marmaris and Istanbul for example are extremely cosmopolitan but you’ll soon leave that world behind when you sail to your next ports of call.
Expect secluded, quiet anchorages where you and your group can go for a swim, sleepy villages where tourism is a bonus and not an essential part of the economy, and a chance to see and feel the deep history of a civilisation that has been around for many millennia.
You will visit bustling tourist hotspots as you go – Ephesus for example sees millions of visitors a year, but these are easily counterbalanced with lots of downtime. A yacht charter vacation in Turkey also enables you to access places that land-based tourism doesn’t reach, allowing you to enjoy a part of the world that landlubbers can’t enjoy.
Hire a yacht in Turkey with Borrow A Boat today and start your adventure off the beaten track!
Hiring A Yacht In Turkey
Where it comes to hiring a yacht in Turkey you will find marinas are cheap (where you have to pay) and anchorages sheltered and safe. With its often great sailing winds you will get to enjoy the journey as much as the destination itself.
As well as bareboat and skippered yacht rental you can go by gulet on your trip – think of this as a low cost private cruise where you have all your needs catered to as you explore the coastline. Flotilla holidays are popular in Turkey too, where you sail your own boat but more or less leave the navigation and bureaucracy to the lead boat of the fleet.
Many Turkey yacht charter companies also offer ‘one-way-charters’ where you pick the boat up at one city and leave it at another. This gives you a far greater range on your journey – no having to loop back midway along your sailing holiday to make your port of departure.
There will be longer and shorter legs between your chosen stops on your trip (depending on where you go you could end up on a 25 mile leg sometimes) but always find plenty of time to explore the world beyond the anchorage or marinas you explore the country.
On your trip there will be opportunities to take a bus or shallow draft tourist boat to visit major sights like Dalyan’s Lycian tombs and mud baths or the ruins of Ephesus. These are busy tourist locations but important parts of exploring Turkey. However there are places that can only be accessed by private yacht that will take you away from everything you see on Instagram and into a world a lot less travelled.
Turkey is also famous for its ‘one-restaurant bays’ where you can moor at a dock with just a few other boats and enjoy the hospitality on offer. Enjoy the food and explore the village beyond where tourists are a curiosity to the locals and not an essential line of business. This means you will get an authentic taste of the country and not a world that is just put on show for you.
The bazaars of the big cities are a buzzing and very much a part of Turkish culture where you can buy almost anything – don’t forget to haggle on the price! These vibrant markets are still an escape as they are an intrinsic part of the local economy and not tourist traps as so many other cultural attractions have become elsewhere in the world.
Best Areas To Charter A Yacht In Turkey
There are three main areas to explore on a charter yacht in Turkey - the Lycian Coast, the Carian Coast and the Marmara sea near Istanbul.
Lycian Coast
The Lycian Coast is often considered in two parts – the East Lycian Coast and the West Lycian Coast. Heading east out of the main charter base of Gocek you will find some quite challenging sailing with legs between ports of up to 30 miles. The Seven Capes have an unnecessarily fearsome reputation though one would not recommend you take this route unless you have a decent amount of boating experience. Those who do sail here are rewarded with some spectacular scenery, including a blue lagoon and deserted bays with sandy beaches.
Heading west out of Gocek you will soon find the very sheltered Fethiye Bay which is just right for those with less sailing experience – gentle winds, many opportunities to anchor and one restaurant bays where you can relax for the evening. At Ekincik you can take a bus or shallow draft tourist boat to Dalyan and have a mud bath, feed loggerhead turtles and explore the ancient tombs that make the town so popular with visitors. There will be plenty of chances to drop anchor and forget the world, though you can top up on provisions and even have a lot of fun in the evening at Fethiye, a major tourist destination in its own right.
On a one-way-charter you can pick the boat up at Gocek and head west to Marmaris, without having to double back mid-trip.
Carian Coast
Also known as the Turkish Riviera or Turquoise Coast, the Carian Coast is a busier stretch than the west Lycian Coast with lots of marinas and places to explore that have a bit more of a buzz. The city of Marmaris is at one end and Bodrum lies at the other with three main areas to explore between: the Gulf of Gokova, the Hisaronu Gulf and the southern coast of Bozburun towards Marmaris.
Heading out of Bodrum to the Gulf of Gokova you will find a long first leg but once past the north coast you will have a variety of choices as to where to stop. You will soon find a number of one-restaurant-bays and places to relax and forget the world outside.
Getting into the Hisaronu Gulf from the Datca Peninsula can be fun with sometimes choppy waters entertaining the experienced sailor before you get into the more sheltered waters of the gulf. Like the Gokova Gulf area after some decent sailing you have a variety of choices as to where to visit including the towns of Datca and Selimiye.
The hot and dry Bozburun Bay near Marmaris is a completely different world to that you may be used to in Northern Europe! If you get too far offshore you may not be able to see which is the right destination bay thanks to the sand’s colour presenting little contrast for the eye to spot the entrances. You will however find some quiet anchorages and places to explore that will leave you with memories for time to come.
With the Bosporus the border between Asia and Europe you’re in for a treat where it comes to the cultural delights of a yacht charter out of Istanbul. Connecting the Marmara Sea with the Black Sea, you will see the borders between empires ancient and modern, from the Soviet Union not so long ago to the Ottoman Empire before that.
You can bareboat charter out of Istanbul but a lot take gulet charter holidays to get the pros get them about on what is one of the busiest waterways in the world. That said, how often can you come back from your holiday having been to Asia and Europe at the same time? As a crossroads of cultures for time immemorial you can soak up everything that is offered from both great continents while getting a quite unique holiday by exploring it by sea.
Best Towns To Charter A Yacht In Turkey
Within the sailing regions above there are several key charter hubs to consider. Let’s look at these by the regions we looked at:
Lycian coast
There are three main charter hubs on the Lycian Coast – Gocek and Fethiye to the south and Marmaris to the north. One of the great advantages of sailing out of Gocek is the proximity of Dalaman Airport – a busy international airport with direct flights to and from several airports in the UK. You can take a shuttlebus to the marina from the airport in just half an hour or so.
Close to Gocek, Fethiye is a quieter town but has a number of yachts to choose from according to what you might want from your trip. It has some nightlife too so you can let your hair down, though nothing to the extent of Marmaris.
Marmaris is a bustling metropolitan centre and is used as a jumping off point for those heading for both the Lycian and Carian coasts. Adakoy Marina is where most charter companies have their vessels, and you can use the vessel as a base while you explore the market, nightlife or beaches. Dalaman Airport is still the main way in by air – some 65 miles away from the city.
Marmaris is the first city of note on the Carian Coast, linking with the Lycian Coast. Thanks to the peninsulas and gulfs it is a short hop by road from Orhaniye but a much longer distance by sea. Out of Orhaniye you could take a trip east to Marmaris or west to Bodrum. The main airport is still Dalaman so figure on a longer transfer to and from the marina.
Bodrum is another major yachting base, and is a medium sized city in its own right with a ferry service to nearby Greek island Kos in the summer. From here you can explore the Turkish Riviera (as it is sometimes known) along the Gulf of Gokova – or cross the gulf for the Datca Peninsula.
The Marmara Sea is an inland sea that links the Eastern Mediterranean with the Bosporus and then the Black Sea. The Bosporus itself is an extremely busy waterway but if you want to relax you can soon escape the big ships and fast ferries.
Istanbul itself is a riot of cultures old and new, and is worth exploring for a day or so on top of your sailing holiday. There are many flights a day to the city from the UK, so other than Gocek above is probably the most accessible in terms of travel time from your home.
Getting to Turkey
There are three main airports for accessing yacht charters in Turkey:
Dalaman Airport is closest to both the Carian and Lycian Coasts. There are flights from several airports in the UK. From there you can be in Marmaris in around an hour by bus or taxi and in Gocek/Fethiye in far less time.
Antalya Airport serves the eastern Carian Coast but will involve a bit of travel to get to the main yacht charter centres of Gocek/Marmaris
Istanbul Airport is one of the main Turkish international airports and if you are flying in from most of the rest of the world will be your best destination. If headed to the Mediterranean Sea you can then fly or take a bus.
Types Of Yachts To Hire In Turkey
Yacht Charter in Turkey for the best price, +35,000 Boats worldwide. Sailing Yachts or Boat Hire with Or without A Skipper and you can sail away with a minimum of fuss. Below are a list of the types of yachts you can charter.
Sailboat (sailing yacht)
The monohull sailing yacht is the workhorse of charter yachts. They can be hired for as little as €130 a day depending on size and season. The charter monohull sailboat will sleep 6-8 typically with different conveniences according to your budget and needs.
Motor yacht
Simpler to get around than a monohull sailboat, charter motorboats are usually very comfortable and fun to drive. One major advantage of these over sailboats is that you can hide from the weather (too hot or cool) as you move between ports, anchorages and marinas. Expect to pay €700 a day and up.
At the luxury end of sailboat charter in Turkish waters, sailing catamarans combine the comfort of a motorboat with the fun of the monohull. You may find it possible to sunbathe on the foredeck while underway and all the cabins may have en suite heads and showers. You get what you pay for as luxury yachts go – expect to pay €500 a day and up.
A Turkish gulet luxury yacht charter is a fully crewed yacht where your group have as much or as little to do with the sailing as you want. Aboard these luxury yachts, you will be fed and looked after by the crew while the skipper takes you to the best anchorages and marinas, giving you a local’s view of the area you are sailing in. Even among non-seafaring types, blue cruise luxury gulet charter holidays are a very popular way of exploring the Turkish coast.
Skippered or Bareboat Yacht Charter in Turkey
So, how do you want to see Turkey? Do you want to go it alone, choosing your own adventure and take full responsibility of your charter from end to end? In this case the bareboat charter would suit you. You only pay for the boat and expenses such as food and fuel and with a bit of planning and research ahead of time can explore the Turkish coastline ahead of time.
If you perhaps lack confidence in your sailing abilities or have no experience at all you can go for a skippered yacht charter. The skipper will get you about for you in return for a fee, tip and money to cover their food. In return they will use their expertise to show you the best places to party or to relax, and give you locals’ advice as to what to see when ashore.
Do you need a licence to hire a Yacht in Turkey?
If you wish to bareboat charter in Turkey you will need a recognised national or international boating certificates like the RYA Day Skipper, ICC or ASA 104 Bareboat.
It is important to note that the ICC isn’t formally recognised by Turkish authorities (this is largely only recognised in Europe and South Africa). The ICC is automatically conferred if you have certain national sailing qualifications – the original qualifications may be accepted and not necessarily the ICC itself.
However should you choose to go a skippered yacht charter or a trip on a gulet, you do not need any qualifications at all as the skipper will have responsibility for the vessel.
Best Times To Hire A Yacht In Turkey
With late summer fiercely hot the best times to hire a yacht in Turkey are May-June and September. Demand for the boats is lower too, so you won’t pay as much for a charter. It is still warm in October though it can be wetter. July and August are most convenient for many families but with temperatures sometimes straying into the 40s it can be uncomfortable for someone unused to such heat, day or night.
Sailing Weather In Turkey
The Meltemi winds dominate the weather of the Aegean Sea in Turkey. The further west you go – as far as Bodrum the stronger the NW winds are during the day. The further east you go – around Antalya in the east of the country, the gentler these winds are during the day. These vary from day to day and throughout the day. The most comfortable time to sail in Turkey is during the morning every day during the holiday season. The winds tend to be lighter and steadier in the morning and can build to very exciting conditions come mid-afternoon.
How much does it cost to hire Yachts in Turkey?
This depends on what you want from the trip. A fully crewed gulet cruise will cost €1500 a day and up but you will be fed and looked after like royalty. At the other end of the scale, for a small monohull sailboat, you will part with as little as €130 a day. Catamarans will cost anything from €500 a day and up, while a motorboat will cost €700 a day and up. These will change according to the time of year you want to go. If you want a skipper then add at least €150 a day as well as a tip and a budget for food. On top of this, you need to think about your budget for food, fuel, marina fees and entertainment.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Yacht charter is a growing and important part of the Turkish tourist economy. It is less busy than many other destinations which for many makes it a bigger draw.
At Borrow A Boat we offer four main vessels – the monohull sailboat, motorboat, catamaran and fully crewed gulet. You can hire a skipper for the first three for an extra fee.
What’s your budget? Do you have sailing skills and experience? When do you want to go? What do you want to explore? Between the answers to these questions you should narrow down as to where to go and what to do on a yachtcharter in Turkey.
The best time to hire a yacht in Turkey is in early summer (May/June) and late summer/autumn (September/October) thanks to the heat being most uncomfortable in July/August.
Yes you will. You generally put a 50% deposit down on booking the yacht and then pay the other 50% on arrival. On top of this you will need to pay a security deposit against damage done to the boat while you are responsible for it.
If at all possible get to an anchorage or marina first and call the charter company for advice on the matter. If life aboard is in danger, call the coastguard on VHF Channel 16 and ask for immediate assistance via a MAYDAY call.
Think about where you would like to visit and what you would like to do with roughly 10-15 miles of sailing every day. You can build your itinerary around that set of ideas.
In most cases you will be able to charter a yacht without a visa as long as you are in the country for no more than 90 days. If in doubt look up the website for the Turkish embassy in your country.

This is commonly enjoyed to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and weddings or to commiserate over a broken heart. Surely a fancy yacht charter on the Turkish coast is reason enough to celebrate?

Anyone who has been on a jetski before can tell you – it’s a whole lotta fun. A few of the yachts mentioned on this list include jetski access as a part of their package, though you can always chat with your captain and crew in advance while you organise your yacht charter, perhaps they can arrange one for you.
