Fathom Element

The 2017 Fathom Element 43 is the newest iteration of the model and is now offered at the Tacoma docks of NW Yachtnet. These expedition-style pilothouse trawlers are built in the Pacific Northwest with the purpose of taking on Salish Sea conditions.

The spacious interior brings the comforts of land to sea. The fully equipped helm is located forward next to a dinette table with generous seating that facilitates guests to keep the skipper company. Stairs lead aft to the salon, where a large dining table sits next to the even larger, fully loaded galley. Below is generous access to the Cummins 425-horsepower diesel engine and two large staterooms, one with island berth. There is also a twin-engine option.

In the Market of Selling Fun - NW Yachtnet

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

NW Yachtnet: The Pacific Northwest’s premier yacht broker network

By Jillian Chandler | Photos by In-Gear Media

nw-yachtnet

Bob Berglund and Kurt Kingman started their careers in the marine industry more than three decades ago, working for major boat dealers and yacht brokerages. In the summer of 2008, the two decided to partner and start their own brokerage in Tacoma—NW Yachtnet.

“We were held back in how much we could help a client find the perfect boat,” recalls Bob. “Other dealers wanted to mainly sell new boats, so the pool of pre-owned was restricted to just what the dealer had in inventory. Now, through NW Yachtnet, we can search the world, if need be, to find that perfect boat for our clients.”

Fifteen years later, Bob and Kurt have grown NW Yachtnet to be the largest brokerage in the Pacific Northwest. Late May of this year, the pair finalized their purchase of Gig Harbor Yachts on Harborview Drive, expanding their Gig Harbor office to that waterfront location—showcasing 400 feet of dock to display their boats. They now have five locations (Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Seattle, Olympia and Anacortes) and 20 brokers to better serve their clientele.

“Having so many locations really helps when it comes to not only locating a boat but also in marketing ones we have listed,” Bob affirms. “We also have one of the top websites on Yachtworld for boat traffic and leads nationally.”

At any given time, they have approximately 100 listings.

NW Yachtnet has sold boats in Alaska, South America and even Europe, but most of their transactions are here at home in the Pacific Northwest.

“We literally sell fun,” smiles Bob. “And for many of our clients, a boat is a dream come true and a reward for working hard.”

NW Yachtnet’s Certified Professional Yacht Brokers have the knowledge, contacts and yachting expertise to give each client optimal service while maintaining honesty and respect, providing a seamless yacht buying and selling experience. “We are here to make boating the enjoyable experience it is meant to be,” adds Bob.

Most of the highly experienced team at NW Yachtnet grew up in Washington state around boats and the Puget Sound. “Our brokers have a vast knowledge of both power and sailing yachts, which really gives them an advantage in helping our clients make informed decisions—both during the buying process and after,” says Bob.

Bob and Kurt enjoy being able to share their passion and knowledge for boats with others. Youth sailing programs hold a special place to them, in which they support multiple programs. They also support the award-winning Gig Harbor Yacht Club program.

“Kurt and I really enjoy living in the South Sound with the incredible boating opportunities that It provides,” shares Bob, adding that they are grateful to have the opportunity to own a business in beautiful Gig Harbor. “Gig Harbor really is a community. You can feel it when you visit many of the local businesses and especially at events like Music in the Park and the Maritime Festival.”

To explore the variety of powerboats and sailboats available, Bob and Kurt invite you to browse their website, or stop on by to take an up-close look in person.

Kurt Kingman can not be trusted. He showed me a bought named Jeanneau and led me to believe that this bought was purchased by the seller for $ 470,000. After wasting a lot of my time and upon continuous request he could not come up with the invoice showing seller paid this amount. When i insisted, he changed his story and mentioned that seller paid close to $ 400,000 for the boat. Of course i refused to buy the boat but then he is trying to scam me by overcharging me on an invoice from Pacific Power Group where the quote was based upon $ 121 per hour but all of sudden the invoice changed to $ 142 per hour for the labor. He has his network of people who would cooperate with him in his dishonest games. Be very careful

Notebook: Mariners unveil new ‘ruthless’ lineup for 2024

Adam Jude

The Mariners had baseball’s best offense during spring training, averaging 6.3 runs per game.

How much does any of that really matter after the preseason? Well, for the new-look Mariners lineup , it’s certainly better than the alternative.

“They matter a little bit — they do because you have to develop that identity early on,” Mitch Garver, the new designated hitter, said before Thursday’s opening-day game against the Boston Red Sox.

“Toward the end of spring training,” he added, “we kind of found our groove and we started to develop an identity, and that identity is we’ve got to be a ruthless lineup that [has] a 9-on-1 mentality. We’re out there to attack the pitchers, get into the bullpen as soon as possible, try to get on base and create havoc.”

Mariners manager Scott Servais unveiled his new-look lineup Thursday afternoon, featuring three new middle-of-the-order bats in second baseman Jorge Polanco (hitting third), Garver (fourth) and Mitch Haniger (sixth), for Thursday night’s game against Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello.

M’s 2024 opening-day lineup

  • J.P. Crawford, SS
  • Julio Rodriguez, CF
  • Jorge Polanco, 2B
  • Mitch Garver, DH
  • Cal Raleigh, C
  • Mitch Haniger, RF
  • Dominic Canzone, LF
  • Ty France, 1B
  • Josh Rojas, 3B

Only Raleigh, hitting fifth, is in the same spot in the lineup from this time last year:

M’s 2023 opening-day lineup

  • Kolten Wong, 2B
  • Teoscar Hernandez, RF
  • Eugenio Suarez, 3B
  • Jarred Kelenic, LF
  • Tommy La Stella, DH

“I think this is the deepest team we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Servais said Thursday afternoon. “… We have a different look to our offense this year, based on some of the acquisitions we had in the offseason, and we’ve got some of the same characters back again. So there’s a really good vibe around our team right now.”

Mariners batters set a franchise record by striking out 1,603 times in 2023. Creating a more contact-oriented lineup was a priority during the offseason overhaul.

“We have stressed with our hitters the ability to get the ball in play and having a really good two-strike approach and understanding to dictate your terms of your at-bat — eliminate pitches, eliminate zones, all those other things that have really helped our guys,” Servais said. “So we’ll see how it all plays out. It starts tonight.”

Raleigh said the key for the offense will be creating a consistent approach that carries throughout the season.

“I think it’s just about trusting it,” Raleigh said. “Not abandoning your plan and everything you’ve worked so hard on all spring [if] you go to bed after one day and it doesn’t work. It’s baseball. Things are gonna happen. Games and certain situations happen. But if we just stick to what we’ve been doing, and what we’ve been talking about and working on in the spring, we’ll be just fine.”

Nelson Cruz retires as a Mariner

First, a first pitch.

Then, one last major-league sign-off.

Former Mariners slugger Nelson Cruz drew a standing ovation from the T-Mobile Park crowd when he was introduced before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Thursday’s game.

Felix Hernandez, serving as Cruz’s catcher, got a standing ovation of his own when he was introduced moments later.

Cruz playfully spiked his first throw to the ground. He retrieved the ball and then lobbed his next one to Hernandez standing in front of the plate.

A makeshift desk was then erected behind home plate, and Cruz signed his last major-league contract — a ceremonial signature so he could retire as a Mariner.

“I’m just really grateful to retire as a Mariner, to throw out the first pitch and be in front of the fans again,” Cruz said.

Cruz, 43, played parts of 19 seasons in the majors, hitting 464 home runs, with 2,053 hits, 1,090 runs and 1,325 RBI. He spent eight years with the Texas Rangers, four with the Mariners and time with six other clubs.

“I always identified myself with the Mariners even though I played more years with the Rangers,” said Cruz, who hit 163 homers and posted a .903 OPS in 606 games with the Mariners from 2015-18. “It’s everything about Seattle. Even when I used to come as a visitor, it was my favorite place. Playing here, I felt like it was the place where I felt most comfortable playing the game.”

— Mariners infielder Luis Urias , half of the third-base platoon with Josh Rojas , is scheduled to make his starting debut for the Mariners on Friday night vs. Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta , Servais said. The Mariners acquired Urias from the Red Sox in a November trade for reliever Isaiah Campbell, who made Boston’s opening-day roster.

— The Mariners re-signed infielder/outfielder Brian Anderson to a new minor-league contract after being formally released from the deal he signed with the Mariners early in spring training. Anderson is scheduled to report to Triple-A Tacoma.
