Catch the luck by its hair on your yacht charter in Trogir!

Visit the millennia-old Benedictine monastery of St.Nicholas, the protector of Sailors and children. If that is not reason enough to visit, how about if you get a chance to familiarize yourself with one of the most beautiful artefacts of ancient Greeks – a relief of Greek god Kairos, discovered in Trogir.

According to legend, Kairos was the youngest son of the king of all the gods – Zeus. Kairos was described as a young man, known for his unique hairstyle – a long hair falling over his face.

He would appear once in his lifetime on the streets of ancient Tragurion (Trogir) and swiftly move between people giving them a chance to catch a strand of his hair. Catching his hair was almost impossible because his head was shaved from behind.

If he passed you by, that meant a lucky opportunity was gone, since Kairos represented good luck and unique opportunities.

Even today, his relief, preserved from the 4th century, in the church of St.Nicholas inspires curiosity and bravery, provoking people to try to achieve impossible dreams..

Eat healthy organic food on your yacht charter holiday

In front of the old town, near the vicinity of your yacht charter in Trogir, you will find a truly atmospheric place – the Trogir town market. Here you can find a vast selection of fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and freshly caught fish, straight from the sea.

You can ask your yacht chef to do the provisioning here, while you try out local delicacies such as olive oils, honey from the hinterlands, fresh meat, cheese, prosciutto, dried fruits and local spices, or homemade wines and fruit liqueurs as well as the many other traditional delicacies.

Cruise to nearby Čiovo island and have a picnic in the lavender fields

The nearby island of Čiovo will amaze you with its secluded bays and crystalline sea, perfect for a day filled with fun with your jet skis and jet packs. If you are up for something a little less adventurous, Čiovo will not leave you disappointed.

This island is well-known for its flower fields, and landscapes full of immortelle flowers, rosemary, and olive groves. Ask your yacht chef to prepare a picnic basket and a bottle of champagne,  and head out for a picnic in the lavender fields.

Imagine the scent of that much lavender, while you enjoy the finger food complimented with a spectacular vista on Trogir and its nearby archipelago. Do not forget to toast to life while you enjoy your memorable yacht charter experience on Čiovo island .

After a pleasant picnic, refresh yourself in numerous bays on Čiovo’s southern side. Also, we suggest visiting Duboka Uvala (Deep Cove), a pebble bay with the crystalline sea, which will tempt you to jump right in. On the shores of this bay, you can lounge in the Laganini Beach Bar, a great place to recharge your batteries with a colourful cocktail during hot summer days.

Here you can rent a double lounger and completely relax and admire the sea views and enjoy the utter hedonism complemented by the light sea breeze and scent of the salt in the air.

The second bay worth a visit is Duga Uvala (Long Cove). Although its name is not the most creative one, this lagoon is exceptionally beautiful and full of unspoiled nature, just a short walk away from Duboka Uvala.

While on Čiovo, nature lovers can enjoy hiking under the shade of trees near the village of Slatine. Along your relaxing hike, you will come across the carved path that will lead you to the small island church, worth a visit – the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Prizidnica from 1546. There you will witness a spectacular sea view, courtesy of the majestic cliffs high above the sea.

Take this opportunity to finally take a refreshing dip in the turquoise Croatian Adriatic sea, fighting off the relentless summer heat. After cooling off, you could enjoy lunch on the sundeck of your yacht charter or head straight towards the nearby city of Split .

Being a regional centre, Split is so much more than a major traffic port; this settlement has a history that spans almost 2 millennia, offering much in terms of sights to see and experiences to take in.

The old core of Split consists of a Roman palace, built by the emperor Diocletian , as his summer getaway location; the beauty and the intricacy of the palace earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list .

Spend the night berthed in this awesome town and enjoy the lively evening atmosphere of a Croatian coastal city.

After you have sufficiently enjoyed the beach, go on a biking adventure , exploring old forts and monasteries around Bol town, or retire to the air-conditioned cabins on your yacht charter and allow yourself an afternoon siesta. Once you arrive in the town of Hvar, you could climb atop a small hill and witness the Španjola fort. Enjoy the spectacular vistas of the surrounding Pakleni archipelago, which could be your target for the afternoon.

If you decide to stop by the Pakleni islands,  you could experience truly untouched nature or cruise straight toward Korčula island , disembarking in the charming Korčula town . Known to possess one of the most well-preserved and beautiful historic old city cores in Dalmatia, this town will amaze you with its medieval architecture.

Often dubbed `Little Dubrovnik`, Korčula has many things to offer to casual sightseers, as well as history buffs. These include sites like medieval fortifications, churches, monasteries, palaces and buildings,  as well as the birthplace of Marco Polo , all made from fine white stone.

There are still even older remains, left by ancient Greek settlers, who first inhabited this beautiful island.

Day 5: Island of Korčula – Mljet island

Say goodbye to Korčula and set a course to the island of Mljet , one of the most stunning isles in the entire Croatian Adriatic sea. A large portion of this island was declared a National Park , which is best experienced by chartering a yacht and cruising along its coastline.

Once you spot the perfect piece of the shore, let your expert charter crew know, so they could launch water toys that will further aid in discovering more hidden secrets of this awesome island. Once you have sufficiently mapped the shoreline, it is time to venture into the interior.

Let the beauty of nature dazzle all your senses, as you stroll on hiking trails that criss-cross the surface of Mljet National Park. The coup de grace are two saltwater lakes; the centre of the bigger lake also hides a Franciscan monastery, which is easily reached by kayaks.

You can also swim in the lakes in more comfort than usual because the temperature is always several degrees hotter than in the open sea.

Day 6: Island of Mljet – Pelješac peninsula – Makarska Riviera

Trogir Yacht Charter Enquiry

HI Reia - Everything was great thanks, Croatia was gorgeous, the weather and islands were amazing! The boat worked out really well, we ended up staying in Split overnight and then went to Trogir for a bit , then up to Skradin for the night, went to Krka National park the next day to hang out at the falls. After that we headed to Vis and Bisevo to see the blue caves, then off to Vela Luka for the night and the next day headed to Korcula, next stop was Hvar for the day and finally on the way home we stopped in at Bol on the Island of Brac before we finished in Split...... it was great, we saw loads, relaxed and got a nice tan! The skipper worked out well, he knew the locals and all the little places to go so it was very easy for us. Thanks so much for all your help, you have been great. ACI Marina Trogir, Croatia

Angelina yacht charter Togir, Croatia - ACI Marina Trogir

Central Dalmatia's Base Trogir is on the Adriatic Sea's eastern coast. Trogir's ancient town center, which has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is located on an islet between the coast and the island of Ciovo. The industries of shipbuilding and tourism are essential to the local economy.

Trogir's ACI marina is located on Ciovo island, directly over the street from Trogir. With its "Tourist Flower – Quality for Croatia" medal, ACI marina Trogir was ranked third best small marina in the Adriatic Sea in 2017 by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. Across from Trogir's town center on the island of Ciovo, you'll find the ACI marina and yacht club. A 100-meter-wide canal separates them. Because the ACI marina in Trogir has been there for quite some time (it is not a new marina), there is less room to move than in the SCT, but you will have no trouble finding our offices.

Parking & Shopping in Trogir Marina

Parking is available in the marina for a constant security monitoring fee. Marina parking is expensive. €10/day; €60/week for a car. Bus: €20 a day; €100 a week. Trogir's shopping opportunities are excellent, as are the city's public transit alternatives. Supermarkets, for example, are available on the mainland. There's also a massive fruit and vegetable market just before the bridge to the historic center.

Trogir's historic core occupies a tiny island wedged in between the Croatian mainland and the nearby island of Ciovo. Sailing is not recommended in the waterway north of the town since the water is just 2 meters deep. The town is connected with the shore by an old stone bridge and a modern wooden bridge to the west. Another bridge connects the ancient city to the island of Ciovo, home to the ACI marina (2.80 m clearance). Ships from Kastela Bay approach from the west between Ciovo and Celica Rock because they cannot pass underneath the bridge. The green lighthouse on Cape Cubrijan (Fl G 2s 8m 4M) provides a recognizable landmark, located at 43° 30.7′ N 16° 14.6′ E. Approaching from the east, the route is indicated by a series of red and green buoys.

The passageway beneath the bridge has a depth of 4.5 meters. Sailing is not recommended in the waterway north of town since the water is just 2 meters deep.

Where is Trogir?

Trogir is just 17 miles west of Split . Situated on a small island connected to the mainland by a bridge, Trogir is nestled in the heart of the Adriatic Sea and is a popular stop for luxury yacht charters exploring the Dalmatian coast. The town’s central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the nearby islands, bays, and hidden coves scattered along the coastline.

Brief History

Trogir is a beautiful medieval town situated on the coast of Croatia. Greek colonists founded it in the 3rd century BC and later became part of the Roman Empire. In the 9th century, The Venetians took over the town, who built many of the town’s churches, palaces, and fortifications.

Throughout the centuries, Trogir experienced numerous battles and occupations. The Hungarian and Croatian kings, the Ottomans, and the French occupied it. However, despite its tumultuous past, Trogir managed to preserve its historical and cultural heritage. Today, it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.

6-day Sailing Itinerary from Trogir

This itinerary takes in the best parts of the sailing area near Trogir. In total, it comes in at 112 nM for the week, and is a great outline for your own voyage. You can easily do more or less sailing than this itinerary, and there’s lots of anchorages and bays that you’ll sail past which might warrant a stop-off for lunch or a quick swim.

Trogir - 6 day sailing itinerary

The longest day on this itinerary is over 30 nM (if you visit the blue cave at Bisevo), but most days are 13 – 18 nM, which should mean about 4-5 hours of sailing a day, with ample time for stopping en-route, to explore the start or end point, or do the shopping. On average, you can expect to be making at least 4-5 knots in a charter yacht or catamaran.

Milna

The first day is fairly straight forward as you’ll follow all the other yachts South-west away from Trogir, either beating into the prevailing wind or reasonably close-hauled. Once you’re out of the Splitski channel, you can point the bow to South-east, and the island on the nose of the boat in the distance is where you’ll be spending the night.

Milna is a great port of call for the first night - it’s a charming little town, full of historic buildings, including a bell-tower which dates from when Milna was part of the Venetian empire (this marina used to be called ‘the bay of a thousand ships’ when they used to do ship-building here), and holds a trove of paintings by Venetian masters.

Paklinski Otoki

If you have time on your side, there’s an unnamed bay on the near side of south of Hvar island which you can stop at as you sail by – unbelievably, it is not connected to any roads, and looks like a sleepy little bay, but there’s two bars there (which also serve food), and it’s an optimal place to test the anchor and have a bit to eat.

Paklinski Otoci is one of our favourite bays in the whole of the Mediterranean, and it really is a sailors paradise. Pick up a mooring buoy for the night (get there early in peak season) and the whole bay is surrounded by bars and restaurants service everything from local dishes with local beer to lobster and champagne cocktails. There’s a special atmosphere amongst all the sailors, and this is one of the few experiences you can only have if you have your own yacht – enjoy it!

Vis

From Paklinski Otoci, you’re reaching across the wind to bear South-west towards the isle of Vis. If you made a late start, you can go to Vis directly (it’s only about 10 nM). More intrepid adventurers will stick with the itinerary, as we’re headed to the ethereal blue cave of Bisevo, where a trick of the light makes the water in a cave (which you can swim in) a crazy neon blue colour. It’s a magical place to go, and thoroughly recommended.

If you decide to go to Bisevo, the cave is probably easiest seen in two groups, with someone remaining on board your yacht at all times, so that you can just mill around the area instead of having to anchor up or find somewhere to moor. Thesedays access is only via the dedicated tour boats, and you need to buy tickets on land and wait your turn.  Then head back and switch over. Don’t forget to take some photos.

From Bisevo, head North-east to follow the South side of Vis right the way back around to Vis (or stopping at Rukovac if the wind allows). Vis itself has a long and bloody history, having been inhabited since 4BC by the ancient Greeks (and there are still ruins from this time), followed by the Romans, Venetians, Ottomans, the Austrians, the French, and even the British (who have a war cemetery here). The island is also notable for being the inhabited island which is furthest from mainland Croatia, and for it’s own species of palm trees (which are rare in this part of the world).

Hvar

When you were talking to friends about coming to Croatia, Hvar might well have been one of the towns that they will have heard of – that’s because it had something of a reputation for being a hedonistic resort a few years back, but don’t worry, things have calmed down a bit since then. Hvar is now known as much for its lively nightlife as it is for being something of a foodie capital, with fine dining restaurants a plenty – some with just four or eight seats who promise a gastronomic experience.

The high point of trip to Hvar – both metaphorically and literally – is the view from Hvar castle. It’s situated a fair trek up at the top of the hill, but is well worth getting sweated up for. From here, you can find a wonderful panorama of the clear blue sea, the surrounding islands, all complemented by other holidaymakers’ yachts and catamarans.

Maslinica

Maslinica is the only port on the western side of the isle of Solta, nestled amongst pine forests and sandy beaches. Originally founded as a holiday home for a rich family, the island kept getting attacked by pirates so the owners built both a church and a castle here, to help protect them one way or another.

Nowadays, Maslinica is a tourist town, and has won awards for being the best tourist destination in the Mediterranean with less than 1,000 inhabitants. It is most famous for its honey, schnapps, and for making the tastiest wine in Croatia.

Trogir

There is only two places to get fuel in Trogir, and it gets mad busy on a Friday afternoon, so either head there early or be prepared to wait in line for an hour or so whilst you watch the organised chaos and jostle for position before filling up and heading for home.

If you haven’t had time to explore Trogir properly, then now is also a good time to do it – it has a great old town with atmospheric narrow streets and a great range of waterfront bars and restaurants. There’s also a nightclub, if you want to celebrate getting the ship back safely with some heavy beats.

Someone will be along to inspect the boat before you check-out, and then you’ll be stepping off it for one last time, hopefully with a heart full of the beautiful Croatian islands, new or renewed friendships, a smile on your face, and with a sense of tranquility that can only come from sun, sea and sailing for a week.

Sailing Conditions

Croatia Sailing - Wind Conditions

During summer, winds are traditionally between Force 3 and Force 6, and are oddly reliable - in that you can expect winds from 9am to mid-day, then there’s a short break (where local sailors say the winds go to have their lunch), before resurging in earnest from about 2-6pm.

The winds are in-part powered by the sun - the sun warms the land, so air is pulled off the sea, so the prevailing winds are towards the land, and the hotter the sun is the stronger the wind.

Sailing out of season is a bit less predictable, as there’s no such thing as a prevailing wind – they can come down from the mountains to the North, or arrive with tropical storms from the South. Rest assured that most weather systems pass within a few days.

Trogir - Average Temperature

Trogir has been a major port town for centuries – even the Romans bought ships in and out of this bay – so it is not surprising that there are numerous marinas in the area.

There are three which are principally used for holiday charters, which means that on Sunday morning and on Friday evening there can be a lot of traffic in the water, as the boats come and go. - the ACI Marina is just across the water from the UNESCO world heritage Old Town is the better established, further along the coast there is the SCT marina, and a little further still out from the town, the Baotic marina is more modern and includes a swimming pool and very elegant bar/restaurant amongst its facilities. All offer wifi and the usual in-marina facilities, and are within easy walking distance to historic old town.

If you're staying in the area before or after your charter, we can recommend these places that are close to the marina: Hotel Trogir or Domus Maritima .

The enchanting town of Trogir, with its approximately 13,000 inhabitants, is located between Sibenik and Split directly on the Adriatic coast and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. The medieval old town with its picturesque and fantastically preserved houses, churches, forts and palaces is completely surrounded by water – ideal conditions. e.g. to start a yacht charter. A stone bridge leads you from the mainland into the “Old Town Island” and its lively pedestrian streets. Just a few steps away you will encounter almost contemplative calm small side streets. The St John Paul II square is known among connoisseurs as the most beautiful place in Dalmatia. This is an extremely busy place, but the magnificent Cipiko Palace, the loggia, the town hall and the magnificent cathedral Sveti Lovro (St. Lawrence), whose construction lasted almost 500 years, will make you forget about the crowds. The ascents of the bell tower of the cathedral, including fabulous views over the offshore island is not to be missed. One of these is Čiovo, a popular destination among locals.

A thousand goals waiting for that yacht charter in Trogir

The SCT Marina in Trogir lies directly opposite the Old Town Island, and is thus the ideal starting point for a charter in Trogir: From here you can embark, for example, on a trip to the islands of Solta, Vis, Brac and Hvar. In addition to these, you can pay a visit to other Mediterranean sailing destinations – such as the National Park Kornati. Of course, you can also rent a motorboat, in the event that you do not want to depend on the winds. A yacht and Trogir – goes together like Croatia and hospitality!

A sailing trip from the Pitter yacht charter base in Trogir can be combined with a city trip. Trogir has preserved its medieval town centre and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The old town is situated on a peninsula, which was separated from the mainland by a canal in Roman times. For charter guests interested in culture, there are several sights from various centuries:

Yacht charter Trogir: diverse cruises and destinations in the sailing area of the Central Dalmatian Islands

The ACI Marina Trogir is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic town centre and the waterfront promenade. There you will find numerous cafés or konobas - small restaurants with typical local dishes.

Recommended sailing destinations from Marina Trogir ACI are the island of Brač, with the popular port of Milna, and Hvar, Vis and Šolt. You can also discover the old town of Korčula or enjoy the Blue Grotto on Biševo. Several marinas are located in the immediate vicinity, making it easy to sail to the various islands in short stages on a sailing trip from Trogir. These include Kremik, Primosten, Kastela or Split. Sailing enthusiasts with less experience or families can discover the Dalmatian islands with their countless bays on a sailing boat or a catamaran with a charter crew.

The best time for a charter trip from the Pitter yacht charter base in Trogir is from May to September. During these months, temperatures are pleasant at around 24 degrees and there is hardly any rainfall. With a yacht charter crew or skipper, you can experience an unforgettable sailing trip to the Kornati islands or south to the Dalmatian islands.

The harbour town of Trogir has the beaches Medena and Pantana, which is located east of the old town on the edge of a nature reserve. Seget beach is in the district of the same name and is popular for its evenly sloping pebble beach. Families prefer Copacabana beach on the island of Čiovo, covered with white pebbles. Before setting sail - Split

When starting your yacht charter in Croatia , you will most likely fly into Split Airport, situated in Kaštela only 12 miles from Split. On touch down, you’ll already find yourself right in the heart of Croatian yachting , surrounded by the most reputable marinas and charters all within a 12-mile radius of the airport. The majority of these marinas are located to the west of the city of Split, including charter-specialized marinas such as Marina Baotić , Marina Agana , and ACI Marina Trogi r. An easily organized transfer can swiftly take you to your chosen marina.

For those who would like a taste of the Mediterranean city vibe, ACI Marina Split, located right at the city’s seafront promenade , might be the preferred choice for setting sail. Here it is only a 20-minute stroll to the fashionable Riva , a waterfront boulevard buzzling with posh mediterranean-style cafes, where nicely dressed locals enjoy one coffee after the other.

Founded in the 3 rd century, Split was originally a Greek colony, today it is the second largest city in Croatia . The famous Diocletian’s Palace , the original center of Split, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s best-preserved monuments of Roman architecture. The Cathedral of Saint Domnius , with its impressive bell tower, has gained worldwide fame as a wedding venue. These monuments are built from stone sourced from the island of Brač -your first cruising destination after setting sail from Split.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 1/Saturday: Trogir or Split – Milna Brač

On the first day, we’ll set our course towards Brač, the largest island in Dalmatia, and a true paradise adorned with picturesque vineyards and olive groves. Traditionally the locals of Brač traded limestone to the mainland and the surrounding islands. It is from this stone that the Diocletian Palace in Split was built. It is also rumored that limestone from Brač was used in part of the White House in Washington.

Our destination on Brač is on the west coast in the charming, small village of Milna, nestled deep within a bay which forms a perfect natural harbor. Milna has two marinas—ACI Marina, known for its first-rate services, and the more authentic Village Port. Alternatively, you can also choose to drop anchor at the neighboring bay Bobovisca and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.

But an evening stroll through the streets of Milan is a must. Appreciate the beautiful stone architecture and listen to the talented street musicians who play in front of the baroque church. With its rich history, impressive architecture, and warm hospitality, Milna is a delightful stop on your journey along the Adriatic coast.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 2/Sunday: Milna Brač – Hvar (Palmižana)

Our next destination is the famous island of Hvar, often regarded as the Croatian equivalent of L.A. This island, known for attracting the rich and famous, offers the opportunity for a bit of celebrity spotting. Hvar gained international recognition in the 20th century when Orson Welles spent several weeks in Hvar Town in 1967 while filming ‘ The Deep’.

Hvar is renowned for its many historical buildings, such as the impressive fortress looming high above the town. But many are also located just around the main square, which is known to be the largest in Dalmatia. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee and appreciate the surroundings which rival the experience of being in Venice.

For those choosing to stay overnight in Hvar, dance the night away at Hula-hula Beach Bar located in the neighbouring bay only a 15-minute walk from Hvar. Or if you prefer a quieter overnight spot, you can drop anchor in a more secluded bay in the Pakleni Islands archipelago, situated not far from Hvar. The crew will find the perfect spot to chill.

A recommended place among the isles is ACI Marina Palmizana, situated in an idyllic bay surrounded by a pine forest on the island of Saint Klement. A short walk along a magical forest path brings you to the other side of the island. The bay of Vinogradisce on the southern side captivates with its clear turquoise water. Here you will also find many excellent restaurants and bars hidden among the pine trees. We highly recommend the Laganini restaurant, even praised by U2 frontman Bono.

A secret for those who like to party: Carpe Diem Beach on Stipanska Island hosts a raving Full Moon party, offering a perfect fusion of nature, music and celebration.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 3/Monday: Hvar – Korčula (Badija)

As you leave the Pakleni Islands, you’ll cruise by the charming island of Scedro—a serene spot nestled between Hvar and Korčula, and a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. This almost uninhabited island presents an authentic culinary experience at Restaurant Kod Ive, situated right next to a 16th-century Dominican monastery ruin. Indulge in delicious fish, lobster, and langoustines on the restaurant’s terrace built directly on the beach.

You have the option to spend the night on anchor here and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Alternatively, you can aim to reach ACI, your next stop 22 nautical miles to the East. Be on the lookout for windsurfers and kiteboarders as you navigate the narrow channel between the Peljesac peninsula and the northeast end of Korcula. This area, known for its consistent northwest wind called Maestral, is a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts.

The town of Korčula, often referred to as “small Dubrovnik,” unfolds around the old medieval city on a small oval peninsula, enclosed by medieval city walls. Once safely moored in ACI Korčula, immerse yourself in the charm of the town’s stone buildings, and street music, and explore the many galleries and jewelry shops.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 4/Tuesday: Korčula – Lastovo

Before heading south, there is the option of stopping for a quick, refreshing swim at Badija Island, located next to Korčula and renowned for its 15th-century monastery.

After a 20-nautical mile cruise, you’ll arrive at Lastovo, one of the remotest islands in the Adriatic. Lastovo is known for its beautiful 15th and 16th-century Venetian architecture. We recommend staying in the naturally protected bay of Zaklopatica on the northern part of the island. All restaurants in this bay offer free moorings, and Augusta Insula is a very popular choice for a reason. Their cuisine features organically grown ingredients from their family garden, with their highly recommended dish the lobster “Buzara”.

From Zaklopatica it is only a 30-minute walk to Lastovo town located in the town interior. Due to its great distance to the mainland and limited local light pollution, this is the perfect place to enjoy star gazing.

Alternatively, consider berthing at Porto Rosso restaurant in the hidden bar of Skrivena Luka on the southern side of the island. This restaurant offers a magical stay with a view of the blue horizon towards Italy. Try their recommended dish: Pasta with lobster.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 5/Wednesday: Lastovo – Vis

As you approach the island of Vis, you have the option to choose between the southern and northern parts. On the southern side, facing Italy, lies the charming fishermen’s settlement of Komiža—a picturesque place protected by a long dock. Komiža provides a great hideaway from the Bora wind, especially now that you are far from the mainland. It’s advisable to enter Komiža before noon if adverse weather is common late in the day.

On the northeastern part of Vis, you’ll find the town of Vis, offering a stark contrast to Komiža with a more modern and aristocratic ambience. With historical significance dating back to 400 B.C., Vis Is full of impressive stone buildings, reflecting architectural influences from Italy.

After five days on the move on the water, you might be ready to spend a little more time on land. Consider taking a tour around the islands, with a military tour offering glimpses of catacombs and other army structures scattered across the island. This tour is available from both Vis and Komiža. Ask the guide to take you to a hidden restaurant serving delicious “Peka”—a must-try traditional Dalmatian barbecue dish featuring a combination of vegetables and meat (or octopus) prepared in special pots under a bell. One highly recommended spot is “Roki’s,” where you can also indulge in exquisite wine tasting. The family takes pride in their organic grape production.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 6/Thursday: Vis – Šolta

After exploring Vis, it’s time to accept that your journey is leading you back to the mainland. However, there’s still beauty to discover as you head back via the island of Šolta. Positioned in front of Split, you passed it from the northern side on the first day en route to Milna. The northwest end of the island offers several appealing options for your last night.

For those who enjoy anchoring, Šešula Bay is likely to be a preferred choice. Nestled among pine trees, this bay hides a few delightful restaurants reachable by dinghy or using their buoys. A 10-minute walk will take you to Maslinica, a village home to a modern marina, which provides protection from all winds. In this bay, you’ll find Martinis Marchi, a mansion with an excellent restaurant offering a fine dining experience with a great view. Alternatively, explore the charming village to discover other authentic restaurants and pubs. Don’t miss the must-see sunset from the marina’s dock.

croatia yacht charter trogir

Day 7/Friday: Šolta – Trogir

Upon reaching Maslinica, you’re merely 7 nautical miles away from the marinas of Trogir and Split. Trogir, often referred to as the Little Venice of Dalmatia, is especially known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trogir’s historic core is a labyrinth of narrow streets and squares, echoing the footsteps of ancient civilizations.

At the heart of this enchanting town stands the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, an architectural marvel showcasing a blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. Kamerlengo Castle, perched on the edge of the historic core, provides a stunning panoramic view of Trogir and the azure Adriatic Sea.

The town’s cultural vibrancy comes to life through frequent events like music festivals and art exhibitions, creating a dynamic atmosphere. This is a great place to end your epic charter vacation.
