Beschreibung marina.

Die Bootswerft Schaich liegt direkt im kleinen Ort Fehmarnsund am Fehmarnsund zwischen Fehmarn und Großenbrode. Der Hafen ist Teil der Bootswerft Schaich, die sich im Schwerpunkt mit Holz- und Kunststoffbootsbau beschäftigt. Dem entsprechend können hier alle anfallanden Arbeiten durchgeführt werden. Die Marina Schaich ist der ideale Service-Stützpunkt für Boote und Yachten bis 65' (20m). Schiffe mit einem maximalen Tiefgang bis 3 Meter können hier anlegen. Ein Kran hebt Boote bis zu 25 Tonnen. Daneben gibt es noch einen Matenkran, eine Slipanlage, ein Transportsystem für die Boote an Land. EIn Winterlager kann sowohl in der Halle, wie auch im Freilager angeboten werden. Das Gelände ist ganzjährig von mehreren Parteien bewohnt. Für Motoren, Elektrik und Systeme findet sich auf dem Gelände ein Service-Betrieb. Im Sanitärbereich bietet die Marina Klos und Duschen. Die Marina Schaich liegt am Fuße der Fehmarnsundbrücke, ein Spaziergang unter der Brücke hindurch oder auf dem Fußweg hinüber auf das Festland ist ein lohnenswerter Ausflug. Ein Bistro/Cafe sowie eine Grillmöglichkeit findet sich im Hafen. Gleich neben dem Hafen lockt der Naturstrand Fehmarnsund in Südlage.

Abenteuerliche Ansteuerung, Nichts beleuchtet, Stege in baufälligen Zustand, absolut nicht Beleuchtet oder begehbar! Ebenso befinden sich die Sanitäranlagen seit Monaten als Baustelle wieder, die Münzautomaten der 70Jahre Dusche defekt. Arrogantes und unfreundliches Verhalten d. Betreibers Schaich. Dafür völlig überteuert… Absolut nicht empfehlenswert.

Sehr geehrter Herr B., mit Bedauern stellen wir fest, dass Sie die bisherigen Bauabschnitte, insbesondere im Bereich der Sanitäranlagen nicht zur Kenntnis genommen haben. Selbstverständlich ist es schade, dass Sie mit unseren Duschautomaten nicht zurecht gekommen sind. Es wäre gut gewesen, dies im Büro zu melden. Hier haben wir Anker geworfen, weil der Ort dazu prädestiniert ist. Unsere Werft mit unserem eigenen Hafen liegt auf Fehmarn – direkt an der Ostsee, geschützt, nahe am Fahrwasser und direkt zu Füßen der eleganten, majestätischen Fehmarnsundbrücke. Es ist „die Nahtstelle der Ostsee“, wie es ein erfahrener Segler uns gegenüber ausdrückte. Denn genau hier an der Brücke, die den ersten Sprung übers Wasser vom Kontinent in Richtung Nordeuropa ermöglicht, verbinden sich Nord und Süd, Ost und West! Meer ist für jeden etwas anderes. Aber wenn man am Werfthafen steht, das Gesicht im Wind, und unter der Fehmarnsundbrücke hindurch zum Horizont blickt, spürt man im Wind etwas Großes, Weises, Allumfassendes: den Langmut der See und die verbindende, freundliche Tradition der Seefahrt. Hier steht man an einem Ort, der auf fast 150 Jahre Werftgeschichte zurückblickt – und der mithilfe unserer Mitarbeiter*innen noch viele Jahre traditionsbewusster Bootsbaukunst vor sich hat. Seit 1967 gab es hier die Berliner Werft Beelitz. Ab 2009 hatte die renommierte Werft Martin aus Radolfszell am Bodensee hier einen Ableger. Und seit 2019 haben wir die Werft mitsamt ihren Mitarbeitern übernommen, um den Ort zu einer verlässlichen Referenz für Boote und Yachten von 8 Meter bis 80 Fuß zu machen. Yacht- und Bootswerft Schaich (vormals Martin)

Die traditionsreiche Beelitz-Werft wurde Ende 2007 von Josef Martin, Anfang 2019 dann von der Bootswerft Schaich übernommen. Der kleine Werft­hafen befindet sich im Süden der Insel unmittelbar östlich der Fehmarn­sund­brücke. Vor dem Brücken­bau befand sich hier der Fähr­hafen der Verbindung Großenbrode-Fehmarn. Gäste können nach Absprache mit dem Hafen­meister an freien Plätzen fest­machen. Der Hafen bietet Liege­plätze für Boote und Yachten von 5 bis 16 Metern mit einem Tiefgang von bis zu drei Metern. Die Mole, 2013 erneuert, bietet guten Schutz vor Schwell.

Die traditionsreiche Werft zeigt eine sehenswerte Sammlung alter Außen­border von Robert Beelitz. Einkaufs­möglichkeiten finden Sie in östlicher Richtung im 1,5 Kilometer entfernten Kiosk auf dem Camping­platz Miramar. Ein schöner Badestrand liegt in direkter Hafennähe. Ebenso der Golf Club Fehmarn auf dem Wulfener Hals: Neben einer herrlichen 18-Loch- Anlage mit Blick auf den Fehmarn­sund gibt es dort eine Übungs­anlage und Golf­unterricht, auch für Anfänger.

Besuchen Sie die Inselhaupt­stadt Burg mit malerischer, gemütlicher Altstadt, Heimat­museum, Kirche und dem größten Hai­aquarium Europas im Meeres­zentrum Fehmarn! In Burg finden Sie die Einkaufs­center der Grenz­händler wie „Fleggaard“, „Calle Burg“, „Nielsen“ und weitere Supermärkte. Interessante Ausflugsziele auf der Insel Fehmarn sind z. B. das Natur­schutz­gebiet Wasser­vogel­reservat Wallnau, die Galileo Wissenswelt in Burg und das Mühlen­museum in der Segel­wind­mühle Jachen Flünk in Lemkenhafen. Der Kirchturm, der schon aus über 20 Seemeilen von der Ostsee aus zu sehen ist, gehört zur St.-Johannis-Kirche in Petersdorf im westlichen Teil der Insel.

Interview : Werftübernahme auf Fehmarn – Philipp Schaich über seinen Lebenstraum

Seit vier Jahren ist Philipp Schaich Herr über die ehemalige Beelitz-Werft am Fehmarnsund. Unterstützt wird er dabei von seiner Frau und mittlerweile elf Mitarbeitern. Der Weg an den Sund begann für den aus Hamburg stammenden und im Rheinland aufgewachsenen Schaich bereits im Kindesalter. Schon als Opti-Kind auf dem Braunkohlesee träumte er vom Bootsbau, machte als Schüler Praktika auf Werften, nach dem Abitur eine Ausbildung im traditionellen Holzbootsbau und studierte anschließend Yachtkonstruktion in Südengland. Es folgten mehrere Jahre bei Judel/Vrolijk, wo Schaich für Hanse tätig war, Engagements, unter anderem für X-Yachts, und die Selbstständigkeit im Bootsbau in Stralsund. Im Gespräch erzählt Schaich, wie er auf der traditionsreichen Werft am Fehmarnsund landete, was es bedeutet, solch einen Betrieb zu übernehmen, und welche Hürden er dabei zu nehmen hatte.

Herr Schaich, Sie haben sich schon 2009 in Stralsund selbstständig gemacht. Was hat Sie dazu bewogen, einen neuen Standort zu suchen?

Ich hatte kein Gelände am Wasser für meinen Betrieb und wollte das schon immer ändern. In Stralsund gab es auch verschiedene Möglichkeiten. Ich habe für zwei Objekte sogar Pläne geschmiedet, Konzepte entworfen und mit Banken gesprochen, aber beides hat sich seitens der Stadt zerschlagen. Dann habe ich angefangen, überregional zu suchen. So landeten wir hier.

Wie finden sich Käufer und Verkäufer einer Yachtwerft?

In diesem Fall über eine Chiffre-Anzeige in der „Bootswirtschaft“, dem Mitgliedermagazin des Deutschen Boots- und Schiffbauer-Verbands, die ich aufgab. Ich erhielt die Nachricht, dass eine Werft an der Ostsee angeboten werde, und unterschrieb eine Verschwiegenheitserklärung. Als ich dann erfuhr, worum es ging, war ich sofort Feuer und Flamme und verabredete mich zu einer Besichtigung.

Die Sie offensichtlich in Ihrer Begeisterung bestärkt hat …

Zuallererst war ich von der Größe des Objekts beeindruckt. Es war alles da: Hafen, Kran, Werkstatt, Lackierhalle, Lagerfläche, Freilager, Büro. Einziehen und anfangen, das war mein erster Gedanke.

Es dauerte dann noch zwei Jahre bis zu Ihrem Start hier.

Ja, zwei Jahre mit Aufs und Abs, mit viel Planung und Kalkulation, zahlreichen Verhandlungen und Bankgesprächen. So kam es zu den üblichen Verzögerungen.

Was hat Sie dabei am meisten aufgehalten?

Die Gespräche mit der Bank – und wir haben lange über den Preis verhandelt. Es gab auch noch einen weiteren Interessenten. Aber dem Verkäufer war es wichtig, dass der Standort für den Bootsbau erhalten bleibt. Es gibt ja zahlreiche Beispiele für Werften, die verschwunden sind, weil schön gelegener Wohnraum realisiert wurde. Und das wollte der Verkäufer eben nicht, wofür wir ihm sehr dankbar sind.

Wovon hat die Bank ihre Zustimmung abhängig gemacht?

Ich musste konkret planen, ein Konzept entwickeln, den berühmten Businessplan. Dabei konnte ich sehr von der Vorarbeit aus Stralsund profitieren. Und ich hatte nun, aufgrund der Verschwiegenheitserklärung, auch die Zahlen der letzten drei Jahre für die Kalkulation zur Verfügung, das ist das geschäftsübliche Vorgehen in solchen Fällen. Die Bank stellte dann Fragen danach, woher die Aufträge kommen, wie gut die Auslastung sein wird, wo die Mitarbeiter herkommen.

War es schwer, überzeugende Antworten zu geben?

Nein, aber es wurde eben schon sehr genau hingeschaut, und wir wurden mit vielen Themen konfrontiert. Das waren im Nachhinein aber fast alles Fragen, die sehr berechtigt waren. Ich habe mich dadurch mit vielen Dingen beschäftigt, von denen ich sonst gesagt hätte, das haben wir in Stralsund schon gemacht, das ist kein Problem.

Können Sie dafür ein ganz konkretes Beispiel geben?

Ja, die Frage nach den Mitarbeitern etwa war damals auf einer halben Seite im Businessplan beantwortet. Aber heute ist das ein Riesenthema. Der viel zitierte Fachkräftemangel hat uns enorm große Probleme bereitet, es hat lange gedauert, ein Team aufzubauen. Es war auch nur ein Mitarbeiter hier, den wir übernehmen konnten.

Gab es auch positive Überraschungen?

Die gab es in der Tat. Die Liegeplätze hier waren nicht voll ausgelastet. Und in der Corona-Zeit war der Hafen plötzlich rappelvoll. Wir hatten schlagartig völlig andere Umsätze als geplant. Das war bei allem Unglück dieser Pandemie ein echter Anschub für unseren Start.

Wie muss man sich die Übernahme einer Werft ganz praktisch vorstellen?

Es gab wie bei jedem Immobilienerwerb einen Notartermin – im Dezember 2018. Dafür waren auch mehrere Dinge abzuklären und beizubringen. Aber dann haben wir die Schlüssel erhalten und losgelegt.

Womit als Erstes?

Wir haben zunächst Inventar sortiert und aufgeräumt. Die ersten Wochen waren schwierig. Wir mussten erst mal persönlichen Kontakt zu allen Kunden aufnehmen und neue Aufträge akquirieren. Und wir hatten anfangs noch den Plan, unsere Werkstatt in Stralsund weiterzubetreiben.

Sie sind also nicht mit dem ganzen Betrieb umgezogen?

Nein, wir haben nur zwei Mitarbeiter mitgenommen. Wir hatten in Stralsund einen sehr guten Betriebsleiter und zwölf Mitarbeiter, die mit einem großen Projekt beschäftigt waren. Der Laden lief. Aber in unserem Gewerbe muss man vor Ort sein und Akquise betreiben und Aufträge persönlich betreuen. Das war mir nicht mehr möglich, und so haben wir uns auf Fehmarn konzentriert, in Stralsund sukzessive abgebaut und den Betrieb Ende 2020 stillgelegt.

Was waren anfangs die größten Herausforderungen am neuen Standort?

Erst mal die ganzen Formalien. Das ging schon damit los, dass ich unterschreiben musste, dass ich niemanden haftbar mache, wenn durch Sog und Wellenschlag Schäden entstehen, weil das hier eine Bundeswasserstraße ist. Hier rauschen ja große Fahrzeuge durch. Das ist aber mein Problem. Dann kamen Berufsgenossenschaft und Gewerbeaufsicht …

Das klingt wenig begeistert!

Die Berufsgenossenschaft hat keine Probleme gemacht. Da habe ich selbst angerufen und erzählt, was ich vorhabe. Daraufhin kam einer an und hat mit mir darüber gesprochen, wie das geht. Das lief viel entspannter ab, als ich gedacht hatte.

Und die Gewerbeaufsicht?

Die hat auch besichtigt und sich angehört, was wir vorhaben. Und dann kam ein Bericht mit allem, was zu berücksichtigen sei: von der Blickrichtung meines Schreibtisches über Feuerlöscher und die Rettungsringe am Hafen bis hin zu diversen Anschaffungen. Als ich durchgerechnet habe, was die drei Seiten für Kosten auslösen, konnte ich das gar nicht glauben. Wir haben daraufhin einen externen Arbeitssicherheitsbeauftragten engagiert, der hier regelmäßig erscheint und sich darum kümmert, dass alle Prüfsiegel und TÜV-Abnahmen aktuell sind und was noch alles so zu dem Thema gehört. Und dann erhielten wir natürlich viele Schreiben, weil Verträge liefen – über die TÜV-Abnahmen für Kräne und Radlader, die Elektrogeräte, die elektrische Anlage im Hafen …

… und vermutlich meldete sich die Versicherung?

Die haben wir im Rahmen der Übernahme auch gewechselt.

Und stimmt die Bilanz, fühlen Sie sich heute so wohl am neuen Standort wie erhofft?

Ja, aber so ein Gelände kennenzulernen, herauszufinden, was geht und was nicht geht, das dauert. Und man muss mit sehr viel Fingerspitzengefühl an Veränderungen gehen. Es ist ja quasi ein Naturhafen, eingebettet in die Landschaft. Alles ist ganz langsam gewachsen.

Hätten Sie im Nachhinein etwas anders machen sollen?

Mit der Erfahrung von heute würden wir ein solches Projekt anders angehen, ja. Wir haben immer auf den nächsten Schritt hingearbeitet und von da aus weitergemacht. Heute würden wir gleich mehr Fragen stellen.

Wie sieht Ihr Werftalltag heute aus, und was sind Ihre Pläne für die Zukunft?

Bootsbauerisch stehen wir auf zwei Standbeinen. Da sind einmal die traditionellen Arbeiten an klassischen Yachten und natürlich die Pflege und Reparatur von modernen GFK-Yachten. Info: die Bootswerft Beelitz – Martin – Schaich

Auf dem Gelände des früheren Fährhafens Fehmarnsund entstand ab 1967 die Werft von Robert Beelitz. Der Bootsbauer führte hier ein 1883 als Bootsvermietung von seinem Vater am Berliner Wannsee gegründetes Unternehmen fort, aus dem bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg eine renommierte Sportbootwerft geworden war. Auf Fehmarn baute Beelitz Segel- und Motoryachten aus Holz. 1982 ging der Betrieb an den dritten Beelitz über, der ihn 2007 an Josef Martin verkaufte. Die Werft wurde zur Dependance der Martin-Werft in Radolfzell am Bodensee, bis Philipp Schaich das Gelände 2019 erwarb und seine Bootswerft Schaich dort einrichtete.
