Steward/ess play a crucial role in ensuring that guests and owners have an unforgettable experience onboard, and as such, are highly valued members of the yacht crew. The yachting industry is a growing and dynamic industry that offer a wide range of opportunities for those interested in working onboard superyachts. The industry is driven by high-net-worth individuals who own these luxury vessels and is characterised by a high level of service and attention to detail.

If you are seeking work in the yachting industry for the first time or if you want to build a career in the yachting industry, certain courses are essential and others are highly desirable in the eyes of potential employers. We offer both the essential and the highly desirable qualifications. Please refer to the “Syllabus” tab below for the inclusive modules and other optional and beneficial modules.

This course is aimed at the learner who wants to enter into the Superyacht Industry at a RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Level. We cover all aspects of training from RYA Competent Crew to RYA Yachtmaster Coastal – including, SRC (VHF), Deckhand / Superyacht Training, RYA PBII, RYA PWC, RYA Radar, RYA Diesel Engine and the outsourced course STCW 2010.

The Commercial Yachtmaster Offshore course provides the training, practical experience and preparation for gaining a commercially endorsed RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate. Successful graduates are able to work on a variety of sailing & motor yachts, including charter skipper, flotilla skipper or corporate day sailing.

RYA Start Yachting Course

If you are you curious to know what it feels like to sail on a yacht, like adventure or want to learn the basics to see if you want to do further sail training, then this course is for you.

RYA Competent Crew Course

This course introduces the complete beginner to cruising and teaches personal safety, seamanship and helmsman ship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a cruising yacht.

RYA Day Skipper Shorebased (Theory)

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship.

RYA Day Skipper Practical Course

This course is to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in tidal waters with which the student is familiar.

Want to join the Charlevoix Yacht Club?  We welcome your inquiry.   The Charlevoix Yacht Club does not discriminate against any person’s application for membership, election to office within the Club, or any activity under the control of or sponsored by the Club on account of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or physical limitations.

We are currently accepting a limited number of new full memberships each month.  Please let us know of your interest by completing our membership inquiry form .  

Once your inquiry is received

When our membership committee receives your inquiry, we will contact you with more information and a link to download an individualized PDF file of an application package for a full membership at Associate, Club, or Sustaining levels. Crew Limited upgrades to full, applications for any levels Under Age 30, and past members rejoining if now Over Age 80 may be expedited for review.

Sponsorship information

To join the club at the full membership levels you will need a Sponsor who is a current full member in good standing and has been a full member for at least the two prior years.  The same application documents and Sponsor letter are required for the Associate, Club, and Sustaining levels.   If you do not know a member of the club who can sponsor you, note that in your inquiry, and our membership committee will endeavor to make introductions. 

Detailed full membership instructions for applicants and sponsors

It is requested that the New Membership Application form for Associate, Club, and Sustaining levels be submitted along with the Sponsor Interview Questionnaire form and a Sponsor Letter.  The proper dues payment, and a one-time Initiation Fee (if age 30 and over) will be collected later during the review process.  The Sponsor Interview Questionnaire is to be completed jointly (in person, or by phone, FaceTime, Zoom, etc.) during an interview between all the applicant(s) and the Sponsor.  The Application, Sponsor Interview Questionnaire, and Sponsor Letter must be signed and dated (ink or digitally) by the applicant(s) and the Sponsor and be submitted together at one time.  The sponsoring member(s) should be in good standing for the past two years.  Co-sponsoring letters by any additional members may be beneficial.  By signing the Questionnaire, and explaining their relationship in a Sponsor Letter, the Sponsor affirms endorsement of the applicant(s) as becoming contributing members to the credit of the CYC to achieve its mission and commits to being their guide for the next year or two.  Moreover, the Questionnaire and Letter are intended to provide the Membership Committee and ultimately the Board with enough subjective qualitative information to determine if the applicant(s) have desirable attitudes to maintain the yacht club's boating culture and to achieve the CYC's objectives, goals, and mission.  Also, these will define the applicants' skills and eagerness to contribute to the Club's various activities, and that their Sponsor will be their guide.  The Sponsor Letter may elaborate on the duration and details of their boating relationships. 

Submit your application

When you have completed your application package, you may upload that and your sponsor letter to the website, at the location provided with your application.  Once we receive your application documents, we review them for completeness and begin phone discussions via the Membership Committee.  The Committee typically discusses interests and Club opportunities with the applicants.  The Committee and Board typically process a few applications per month.  It may take two or three months to complete the application process from your initial inquiry to acceptance by the Board, and that will vary monthly depending on demand for memberships.  Prospective members who quickly return their completed individual application packages with their application and questionnaire authentically signed by all applicants (ink or digital), and a genuine Sponsor letter, will expedite our review.  Sponsor letters endorse the applicants and commit to being their guide for a year or two.

Individual (Personal) Membership

Membership path, individual debenture membership.

Age 18 and over

Single/Married Ordinary Membership Candidates who have a proven record of experience in sailing or rowing, including paddle sports and wish to continue to participate in sailing or rowing, including paddle sports activities may apply for single or married membership. The General Committee may from time to time set a membership ceiling for Life, Full and Ordinary membership while the Ordinary membership is currently fully subscribed. Whilst the ceiling is in place, the Membership Committee continues to consider applications for Ordinary Membership with successful candidates placed on a membership waiting list. The waiting period depends on the number of vacancies that arise due to the resignation of current members or their transfer to absent membership when leaving Hong Kong. Age 18 and below 32

Ordinary Membership lasts for 5 years. After 3 years of membership, an Ordinary Member may apply to become a Full Member and thereby obtain permanent membership of the Club. To become a Full Member, he or she must have taken an active part in sailing or rowing, including paddle sports activities organised by the Club and have demonstrated an active interest in the management and administration of the Club's activities. Age 21 and over

Persons who can demonstrate experience and active participation in sailing or rowing, including paddle sports to the satisfaction of the Membership Committee and must confirm that he/she resides in Hong Kong and expects to reside in Hong Kong for a period not exceeding 2 years. Short Term membership is for a maximum of 2 continuous years, it cannot be extended, and an applicant can only enjoy the privilege of this membership once. Autopay Children of Short Term Members Cadet Membership ( Download Application Form ) Children who is aged over 12 years but less than 18 years, may apply for Cadet Membership. Children in this age group may be able to sign chits. At the age of 18, Cadet Membership becomes invalid, and persons of this age may apply to convert their membership into Junior Membership. Child Membership ( Download Application Form ) Children aged over 5 years but less than 12 years must be entered on the parents' application form. Child Members have no signing rights. At the age of 12, Child membership becomes invalid and persons of this age may apply to convert their membership into Cadet Membership. Children of Short Term Members will expire upon the 2nd anniversary of Short Term Membership or subject to the age limited whenever the soonest.

Age 9 and below 18

For Ordinary / Short Term / Junior Members

Admission Guideline – For Consideration of Ordinary Membership

Order of priority for admission of ordinary membership.

In order of Priority:-

• New applications for Ordinary Membership and for those successful candidates who are awarded an ‘A2’ ranking, when a membership vacancy arises, he/she will be admitted as an Ordinary Member according to his/her waiting list number; then
• New applications for Ordinary Membership and for those successful candidates who are awarded a ‘B’ ranking, successful candidates can only be admitted when ‘A2’ is cleared and membership vacancies are available
• Existing Junior Members applying for Ordinary Membership, Spouse of Existing Members and successful candidates who are awarded an ‘A1” ranking, applying for Ordinary Membership could be admitted as Ordinary Members once Membership Committee approved their applications; and they will not be counted as part of the 3,800 ceiling and hence will be granted immediate Ordinary Membership status.
• When 2 successful candidates are graded/awarded the same priority/ranking, the one who holds the earlier waiting list number will be admitted first.

Admission Guideline - For Consideration of Full Membership

Alternative satisfaction of the committee involvement requirement, processing time, membership committee, entrance fees, monthly charges, monthly instalment.

The Club requires all new Members to pay their monthly accounts by means of an autopay arrangement with their bank. A direct debit authorisation must accompany an application for membership. The direct debit authorisation will be processed upon an application for membership being approved by the Membership Committee. In the event that an application for membership is withdrawn or not approved by the Membership Committee, the direct debit authorisation will be returned to the applicant.

Application Forms

The issuance of an application form for Ordinary, Spouse, Short Term or Junior Membership is restricted to a qualified Proposer. A Proposer should contact the Membership Office to obtain an application form. Exception to this requirement are for Full Membership, Cadet Membership sponsored by a Member and Corporate Nominee Membership where the application form is available from the Club’s Membership Office or Reception or download from the Club’s web site.

Step onboard the Elite Charters luxury 39ft catamaran yacht at Club Mykonos Marina and enjoy the perfect way to explore the Langebaan lagoon and view the ultimate sunset.

A leisurely 2 hour cruise departs from Club Mykonos Marena daily at 11am, 2pm and 5pm. Experienced crew will make you feel at home and refreshments are served at the cash bar with card facilities. These trips are shared with other guests and a minimum of 6 people are required. A cruise is R300pp for a 2 hour excursion, R200 for children u/12 and under 6 is Free.

They also cater for private functions and are able to cater to your needs and is perfect for that office party, year-end function or a special celebration.

A popular cruise is the 3 hour Braai Cruise to Kraalbaai at the West Coast National Park , this yacht can accommodate up to 40 people. Kraalbaai is known to have breathtaking crystal clear shallow water and the braai spots has magnificent panoramic views of the lagoon.

• Set sail from Club Mykonos Marina Yacht Club
• Sail on the langebaan lagoon to Kraalbaai (1 hour) .
• Drop anchor at Kraalbaai (1 hour), were the Elite Charters Crew can braai if you desire
• Then back to Club Mykonos Marina (1 hour)

Application for Membership

Become a member of the moriches yacht club.

As a new member, you must serve a probationary period as an “Annual” member prior to consideration by the Board of Governors for “Owner” member status.

Annual membership status shall entitle the member(s) and dependent children, up to and including the age of 24, residing in the member’s household to the facilities of the Club. Annual members shall not have voting privileges and are prohibited from holding any elective office or chair position. Renewal of membership will be considered each year by the Board of Governors.

2024 Membership Fee Schedule:

Annual Dues: $1,350.00 Sales Tax: $116.44 GSBYRA Dues: $7.00 New Member Initiation Fee: $300.00 Dinner Meeting Voucher: $125.00*

Total Due with Application: $1,898.44

*When your dues are paid, you will receive a dinner meeting punch card that can be used for any food costs at dinner meetings.

Please note that all applications must be PROPOSED AND SECONDED BY CURRENT YACHT CLUB MEMBERS to finalize membership.

Once the completed form is received, you will be contacted to set up a membership interview at the Yacht Club.
