7 Things To Know About Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney World

Walt Disney World’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts hold some of our very favorite restaurants between these two sister resorts that share several amenities. We’re always up for a meal at Beach Club’s Cape May Café, or even a satisfying sweet-tooth dessert at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop. And who could pass on the outstanding entrees offered at Yacht Club Resort’s Yachtsman Steakhouse? Well, we are pleased to have tried this eatery within the Yacht Club Resort known as Ale & Compass Restaurant and would like to share seven things you’ll want to know before dining there!

1 – Yacht Club Takes On An “Ale & Compass” Dining Theme

In October 2017, Yacht Club Resort began a dining transformation, unifying the quick-service dining, lobby lounge, and lobby restaurant with a general “Ale & Compass” dining theme. The Market at Ale & Compass is located down the hall from Yacht’s lobby (in the gift shop), and is a bright and modern quick-service option that is perfect grab-and-go food. When entering the Yacht Club lobby, look to the left to find the elegant and sleek Ale & Compass Lounge with Ale & Compass Restaurant right next door. The overall Ale & Compass theme across all three locations is modern and sleek but keeps that nautical Yacht Club Resort feel.

2 – Transformation from Captain’s Grille to Ale & Compass Restaurant

When Captain’s Grille closed in 2017 for “refurbishment”, we were more intrigued than disappointed. While we enjoyed the occasional meal at Captain’s Grille, it wasn’t a must-do on our list and more of a restaurant selection if it fits into our plans. While the restaurant was bright and airy, it was definitely lacking in décor with much-outdated carpets, tables, and chairs. It honestly was falling behind in what one would expect of a Yacht Club Resort restaurant. Ale & Compass opened on November 21, 2017, with a much-needed face-lift to the entire space. From floor to ceiling, the décor alone is a huge improvement, as is the menu and taste of the food.

3 – A New England Atmosphere With A Modern Twist

Like Captain’s Grille, Ale & Compass Restaurant is still in a lighthouse shape with multiple circular windows and large open windows to the resort lobby and hallway. The new colors inside exude a nautical feeling with a dark blue hue overall. The seating transformation is awesome, with a combination of bench seating mixed with chairs. The lighting and open floor plan offer a bright and airy space, but it still makes for what could be an intimate meal. Wine glasses and blue cloth napkins dress the table for what feels like a high-end restaurant while still being a family-friendly location. Upon entering the restaurant, the focal point is the open hearth oven area with a bar top option with a few seats available. Also near the entrance is an open doorway where guests can enter the neighboring Ale & Compass Lounge.

4 – Three Different Meal Menus

Something we love about Ale & Compass is that breakfast, lunch, and dinner are totally different menus. We especially love when resort restaurants offer different meal options so you can have a totally different experience at each mealtime if you want!

• On a typical day, breakfast is served between 7:30 am-11:00 am. All of your usual breakfast dishes are served up with a slight New England flare, like the Dark Chocolate Waffle or Salted Caramel Apple French Toast. Go light with yogurt and granola or heavy with pancakes and cinnamon rolls. A great variety, especially for a breakfast menu!

Editor’s Note: I enjoyed breakfast at Ale & Compass. Not only was the food delicious, but the meal itself was a fantastic value. For just $23, you’ll receive your choice of entree, along with a buffet that includes Seasonal Fruit, Assorted Yogurt Parfaits, Assorted Breakfast Pastries, House-made Granola, Artisanal Cheeses, Assorted Spreads, Jellies, Preserves, Oatmeal with Traditional Garnishes, Biscuits and Gravy. Coffee, Tea, Juice, and Soft Drinks are included. I left full and satisfied, and my Salted Caramel-Apple French Toast was one of the best breakfast items I’ve had at Walt Disney World. I highly recommend this breakfast! –Cindy

• Lunch is served between 11:45 am and 2:00 pm. The stars on the menu are the seafood items like the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. However, we enjoyed some non-seafood dishes like the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup and the Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger.
• Dinner is served from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm. The menu transforms into more signature style dishes such as the Cabernet-braised Short Ribs, Sustainable Catch of the Day, and New England Seafood Pot Pie to name a few.

Excellent selections for all three meals! Our kiddos especially loved the kid’s cheeseburger and pasta. Plus, our gluten-sensitive family was impressed at the number of gluten-friendly options Ale & Compass offered.

5 – Dessert and Beverages To Be Remembered

What meal is complete without dessert?! Lunch and dinner dessert highlights include the Warm Apple Cobbler and the Twelve-Layer Chocolate Cake. After all, the restaurant is ALE & Compass Restaurant, so you can expect to find refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on the menu. Alcoholic breakfast beverage recommendations would have to be the Bloody Mary or the Mimosa. Lunch and dinner drink menus offer a great variety of fantastic ale, wine, and cocktail selections. We enjoyed the Seaworthy Breeze Cocktail, including Yacht Club Vodka, grapefruit, and cranberry juices.

6 – On-Point Cast Member Service

We were pleasantly pleased with Ale & Compass Restaurant’s Cast Members. The hostess was super friendly and eager to seat us right away. Our server was exceptionally helpful. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and was a huge help with our family’s gluten allergy. We especially loved how attentive she was to our children. She even brought them Mickey straws just for fun! The food arrived fast, and the Chef must have been well-trained because the food looked and tasted wonderful.

7 – Ease of Reservations

While we always recommend making Advanced Dining Reservations 60 days in advance of your dining date, we will say we were surprised to find dining reservations readily available for Ale & Compass Restaurant. While waiting to be seated for our lunch, we saw several people walk in with no reservations. Keep this resort restaurant in your hip pocket if you are in need of a last-minute dining option. You’ll experience a relaxing atmosphere, great service, and excellent food and beverages!

Breakfast Start the day with hearty breakfast dishes—including an omelet, dark chocolate waffle, salted caramel-apple French toast or a protein bowl. Or, enjoy lighter fare, like a fruit smoothie.

Lunch Sail in for lunch options, including Lobster and Corn Chowder, Ale and Compass Salad, and the Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger.

This was one meal Lily was looking forward to again and Tasha was starving after not eating yesterday.  This is the meal, apart from California Grill we were looking forward to going back to again. Unfortunately our meal didn't go to plan. As there was... 8 of us we were split on 2 tables. We were told there were issues in the kitchen and the other table all had their food all ok and we enjoyed our starters. We love the buffalo cauliflower with vegan ranch. We then waited about 45 minutes for our main courses to arrive and the 2 pasta dishes were cold. My vegan bowl was also lukewarm but I ate it. We sent back the pasta and when it came again the mushrooms were raw and pasta barely cooked. They dealt with it very well though and comped us the whole meal and drinks. 2 hours in there and we hardly ate anything, except my son who enjoyed his fish. I'd still come back next time though as the food is usually great and the servers dealt with the issues so well More

My daughter and I decided to try different restaurants in Disney World that we hadn't tried and first up was the Ale & Compass in Disney's Yacht Club. The decor was typically well done with nautical things interspersed with seasonal Christmas cheer. We were promptly... seated and our server, who was very pleasant and humorous, gave us a list of specials and her recommendations. I chose the Lobster Corn Chowder with Fish and Chips and my daughter the Lobster Bisque and Quiche. Both meals were well cooked, the fish crunchy and moist inside. Even the chips were perfect. My daughter's bisque was very tasty and her quiche excellent. Everything was "Disney Perfect" and that's pretty good for a first time visit. We will definitely return for another great meal. As much as I love, love, love Disney, sometimes it’s nice to not be smothered and surrounded by all the splendor. While trying to find table service dining for a simple breakfast without reservations, we sought refuge from the rain at Ale & Compass at... the Yacht Club Resort. The decor was elegantly yacht themed and not overwhelming or pretentious. The wait was not too bad, and the service was exactly as expected for the already “magical” environment though nothing was too bright, cheery, or fancy for an early morning pick-me-up. My kids ordered Mickey waffles with bacon, I ordered the classic oatmeal, and my husband ordered the basic traditional eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Contactless scanning of menus was provided, and tables were spaced apart from other guests at a safe, social distance. Much appreciated! More

I thought Ale & Compass would be a good value in the deluxe dining plan because you get the buffet AND an entree - more food than most a la carte breakfasts. Service was good, a little slow, but in a relaxed way. Server offered... coffees to go at the end, which we appreciated. The meats and yogurt I took from the buffet were good. My son’s chocolate waffles looked delicious, and my husband’s omelet also looked tasty. However, my entree - the flatbread - completely missed the mark. It was literally all cheese. It was like someone poured a whole bag of greasy grocery store shredded cheese on the thinnest piece of cracker and melted it. Normally I like cheese! However, the cheese way overpowered this dish. I’m not sure I made it through half of it. I definitely ordered the wrong entree. If you go to Ale & Compass for breakfast, definitely get waffles, pancakes or an omelet. Don’t make the same bad choice I did. More

My co-worker and I came in for brunch during the week. We had a reservation but had to wait a few minutes before being seated in the back room. I planned to just order an entree, but after walking past the buffet area and hearing... the deal from our server, I couldn't resist! The breakfast/brunch buffet includes your choice of an entree (ranging from $12-19), drinks, plus fruits, pastries, yogurts, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, cheeses, and various charcuterie for $23. For my entree, I ordered the Dark Chocolate Waffle with bacon on the side. The waffles were not too sweet and the dried cherry compote was a perfect complement. The espresso-mascarpone cream was perfection! More

We snagged a last minute reservation there last week (6/1/2021) and I wasn't overly impressed and probably won't bother going back. The hosts and hostess who sat us were super friendly and welcoming and sweet. I only have wonderful things to say about the two... of them! The two of them and the bread service appetizer were definitely the highlight. Loved the pub cheese and the citrus butter was so unique. I'm vegetarian and ordered their pasta dish plain (no meat) and it came with chicken chopped up on top, so I sent it back for a new one and when they returned a few minutes later it became apparent quickly that it was the same plate with the chicken scraped off. We were one of their last tables of the night and they clearly wanted to go home so I didn't push it, but it was annoying to pay like $100 for a dinner and have to pick small chunks of chicken out of my "vegetarian" dish. Disney has always been so amazing with my dietary restrictions and this was a major disappointment. The flatbread that the other member of my party ordered said it wasn't anything special. So other than the friendly staff, the food, quality and value for price were mediocre at best. More

I can’t even begin to describe how baffled and dismayed my entire family is about this once bright, sunny and upbeat restaurant and its ridiculous remodel. It’s now a black, grey, lifeless box that looks like its inspiration was Fifty Shades of Grey. The carpet... alone is reason enough to fire the individual or division at Disney that created this place. And having the male servers wear a blank leather tie is just pathetic. The server told me the interior was inspired by a lighthouse and pointed to a cheaply framed print of a lighthouse. Oh... then that’s really sad. A light house is the beacon of light-not the bleakness of a blind night. To make matters worse, they changed the adjacent bar to look like its depressive sibling. If I wanted ordinary and the feel of a dated W Hotel I’ll stay at one. When I’m at Disney I want to step inside a story and a place they isn’t found off property. More

We had breakfast here after getting off a red eye from the west coast. We wanted decent food in a low key environment and that's what we got. 2 adults and 2 teens all ordered the buffet with various entrees. The buffet was nice. It... included various breads, cheeses and cold cuts. The buffet includes one entree. I got the chocolate/cherry waffles which were delicious and a real vacation treat. My husband and son got the eggs and sausage which were fine. They allowed my picky teen daughter to order the Mickey waffles from the kids menu and brought her out an ample amount. The only issue we had was when it was time to pay. We had just purchased Tables in Wonderland about 10 minutes before breakfast. I asked the server if tip was included when using TIW because we had never used it before. He said it wasn't. When I looked at the check, it was clearly included. I hope the server just made a mistake and wasn't trying to get a double tip. Overall a pleasant breakfast that we would happily go to again if we were staying at the Beach Club or on the Skyliner route. More

We were staying at the Yacht Club and this restaurant in the hotel looked so inviting. Our server, Jacqui, was very attentive and full of personality! My husband raved about the New England Seafood Pot Pie filled with shrimp, scallops, jumbo lump crab plus vegetables... in a delicious cream sauce. My daughter and I split the Pappardelle Pasta which was more than enough for both of us. Highly recommend ordering the pasta with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes in a garlic cream sauce. We enjoyed our meal so much we made reservations for another evening, something we rarely do. More

Great meal from start to finish! Steaks were tasty and prepared to perfection. The parker house rolls, with assorted butters, were delicious and plentiful. The seafood pot pies were divine. Desserts, both the chocolate cake and the apple crisp, were fantastic and provided a wonderful... end to a fabulous dining experience! Wait staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We highly recommend Ale and Compass for dinner. More

I tend to be very forthcoming with most restaurants, taking into account that everyone has a different taste profile. This restaurant ranks at a highway cafetaria level. Wine was served almost midmeal, plates at different times, waitress absent, etc. Skip it go to Disney Springs.

We were very excited to see A&C added to the mobile order. We were staying in a one bedroom at the BCV and did not feel like cooking. The first night we ordered the Roasted Garlic Shrimp & the Roasted Buffalo Style Cauliflower for our... appetizers. We shared an entree, the Cabernet-braised Short Ribs. Plenty of food for two people. The second night we ordered the Cauliflower & Short Ribs again. We also ordered the New England Seafood Pot Pie. Food was great both nights. Ordering was easy. We picked a time and when we got closer to the restaurant we hit start the order. We had a beverage at the bar while waiting. It took about 30 minutes the first night which was a busy Sunday & 15 minutes on the second night which was a Monday. This is great for people that don’t feel comfortable eating inside. We hope they keep the A&C on the mobile order app. More

We have dined at this restaurant many times on numerous visits to yacht club and have had exceptional service and excellent food every time . Sadly this time we did not . We had a reservation that we tried daily to modify as it was... late and each time we asked we were told no . As residents of the yacht club we did have some expectation that we may be allowed to modify ( we had a decent time window in which to do this ) but we’re told on every occasion we enquired that they were full and couldn’t a commodore a party if two at any time that day . This was extremely disappointing . We decided to cancel the reservation and do a mobile order instead . We collected it at the front of house and we’re given plastic cutlery and flimsy trays to eat from . My husband asked politely if we could have some proper cutlery and plates and we would return them immediately as we were staying on site . We were told abruptly no . So after trying to eat the very overpriced and quite frankly bland food on our lap and spilling it , I went down to the restaurant and asked a little less politely for proper tableware, they were not polite but reluctantly obliged eventually . We returned the tableware immediately , washed and dried and they didn’t even look up when we returned it . we have such amazing and fond memories of this restaurant but sadly will not return after this experience . I feel if you are staying at a delux resort you should have some priority to amend or book the on-site restaurants . It was made very clear this was not the case . More

Cannot beat the location of this place, located inside Disney’s Yacht Club resort. Beat if you get reservations in advance. We enjoyed the great service. Tables spaced out for social distancing. Starter of Buffalo cauliflower was of good size ($13). Ordered the stater rolls too.... Wow! Wish we had more. One dish of 10 oz NY Strip cook to my style. Didn’t come with the house made sauce menu stated. Chose to substitute truffle fries for fingerling potatoes (which were even better with the dips that came with the bread). Another main dish ordered was Pappardelle Pasta. Good size portion. No room for dessert. Attire worn by guest was everything from shorts and tshirts to Casual. May try again the next trip to Orlando. Is a tad pricey, but it’s worth the try. More

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Ale and Compass, while staying at the Riviera. This was our 4th time dining here, and perhaps the best, in terms of food taste, quality, and value. There are fewer dining options right now, due to Covid,... so this place was very busy, and we had to wait beyond our reservation time. But it was worth the wait. Our server, Ibrahim, was helpful and attentive. We would go back just for the delicious and fresh Ale and Compass salad! I want to recreate the dressing at home. The swordfish was fantastic, as well. My husband enjoyed his burger on a good quality gluten-free bun, which is hard to find in restaurants. The prices here are more reasonable than other Disney restaurants, like Topolino’s at the Riviera. Good Covid precautions and distancing, too. We will be back. More

Review! Is Ale and Compass Worth Your Time in Disney World?

Hello, from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort!

We decided to try breakfast at the table-service location  Ale & Compass   on our recent trip to Disney World. This restaurant is known for coastal, New-England style cuisine. We haven’t been blown away by this location in the past so we wanted to see how breakfast was holding up.

As you walk up to the front desk, you can see several health and safety measures in place. There is a plexiglass barrier at the check-in desk, as well as several signs with requirements for entering the restaurant. Mobile Dine Check-In is in use here, as it is at most other locations around Disney World. Simply scan the QR code near the entrance and from your phone you can check-in, specify any special needs, and wait to be texted when to head to the podium to be seated.

Ale & Compass

When we hear the name Ale and Compass, the first thing that comes to mind is glossy varnished woods and boat-related chotchkies but that is the opposite of what this space looks like! Ale & Compass has a simplistic yet beautiful atmosphere. With tall white ceilings, and blue and gray hues, the color scheme is quite calming.

We especially love the gastro-pub style light fixtures  hanging from the ceiling and walls.

Certain areas of the dining room are full of light from the windows . The furniture gives the restaurant a minimalistic mood with sleek and dark booths and chairs. Yacht Club houses a convention center, so this hotel is often bustling with business men and women. This place feels like it is here to cater to that clientele.

One of our favorite aspects of the restaurant is the open kitchen , however it is currently closed. Usually, you can see chefs hard at work as they prepare the restaurant’s food.

None of the tables have been removed from the dining room. To comply with physical distancing, many tables have signs stating that the table is not available. We have seen these at most of the reopened restaurants in Disney World.

There are a couple of options when it comes to tables, with standard tables and booths available to guests. We happened to sit at this particular booth in the corner of the restaurant which was VERY nice. We love a good cozy booth! The tables are currently not set when you go to sit down like they were before the closures. When our party was seated, we were given individual sets of utensils in cloth napkins.

The atmosphere is nice, especially with the natural light , but it is not the most exciting restaurant on Disney property. For those looking for a simplistic or more business-like meal, you will enjoy the feel of this restaurant. This definitely doesn’t scream “DISNEY” everywhere you look like other locations might!

The menu was posted outside of the restaurant, or there was a QR code option to scan. Hard copy menus are available upon request , however they are not handed out automatically to avoid another point of contact.

As for the breakfast menu, you’re looking at generic breakfast staples here. A breakfast platter, omelet, pancakes, waffles, etc.

The kids’ menu offers simple, approachable breakfast options . Most kids should have an easy enough time finding something they’d like.

We decided to start our meal with a cocktail. We ordered the  Agua Fresca Libation for  $12.  This cocktail is made with  Paul Cheneau Cava  and Agua Fresca Strawberry and Hibiscus.

This drink was light and bubbly ! If you like bubbles but want a flavored sip a little more unique than a classic mimosa, this will fit the bill nicely. This drink was slightly sweet from the strawberry agua fresca, but not too much to handle. The red color matched with the strawberry topper is an Instagram photo waiting to happen. If you enjoy bubbly drinks with brunch, you’ll enjoy this drink! We certainly did!

To get a little caffeine, we also ordered a cup of coffee for $3.79 . The coffee itself was fairly generic, but was a nice pick-me-up. Our favorite part of ordering the coffee is the cute bottle the half and half came in! CUUUUTE.

Before our food came out, we were given salt, pepper, and ketchup in individual containers. Salt and pepper shakers used to sit on the tables, but to create less points of contact, this is how seasoning and condiments are given to guests right now.

For our breakfast entree, we went classic and ordered the Eggs Benedict . This dish is made of poached eggs, slow-roasted barbecued pork loin, and roasted tomatoes. They’re served on a toasted   English muffin with spiced herb hollandaise and breakfast potatoes.

The thinly sliced pork loin was a fun and unique alternative to breakfast ham often used in this dish and was cooked very well . The creamy herbed hollandaise was decent. It was well prepared, but we didn’t get loads of herb flavor.

The eggs were poached perfectly and were super runny, like they’re supposed to be . If you are a big fan of eggs, these will likely make you happy. We thought these were some of the best poached eggs we’ve had at a Disney breakfast! They had that satisfying pop when you break through the whites and the yolk oozes out!

The potatoes were seasoned very well. They were a hearty counterpoint to the eggs, but they weren’t anything out of this world. They were your average breakfast potatoes. They weren’t something we’d turn down though!

While we enjoyed the hollandaise, we wished it was spicier , so we asked for some Tabasco sauce. Our server brought back a baby Tabasco bottle , which we thought was adorable . When we added the Tabasco to the dish, we finally got the kick we were looking for. Then we could admire the cute itty bitty widdle bottle!

If you are not a spice fan, you will enjoy the dish as is. If you like things a bit spicier, the bit of Tabasco sauce really kicks it up a notch!

Nosh or Not

You should dine at Ale & Compass if…

• You are staying at Yacht Club Resort or a surrounding resort
• You want to get away from the crowds for a midday break. It’s quite quiet in here!
• You’re looking for a little less in-your-face Disney feeling at your meals

You might want to skip Ale & Compass if…

• You want more unique flavors
• You are not staying near the Yacht Club Resort
• You have kids who want a more exciting atmosphere

Ale and Compass once again performs perfectly adequately but is by no means a destination restaurant. This feels like a restaurant put in a hotel to provide food for hotel guests (in this case, convention hotel guests). It’s trying it’s best, but the food is nothing remarkable. That said, the prices aren’t that bad. They’re in line with most casual table service spots in Disney World. You’d get a breakfast sandwich or plate of Mickey Waffles at many quick-service locations for about the same price as a plate of Eggs Benedict. Not terrible.

If we were staying at Yacht Club, this would be a totally acceptable spot to stop for a meal going to or from the parks but otherwise, we can get eggs benny at LOADS of other Disney World breakfast spots, and the drink, while tasty, was two things poured in a champagne flute. Nothing earth-shaking. If you find yourself in the Yacht Club on an early morning and feeling a bit peckish, this will do, but a short walk in literally any direction will likely land you just as good or better results.

Had breakfast here for the first time a few weeks ago! While the fare seems standard, I love how each hotel has their own unique pancake/French toast flavor. My mom and I loved the blueberry bacon pancakes and salted caramel apple French toast! Second only to the banana bread French toast at Olivias 😋

Disney Yacht Club Resort Review

W e love the Boardwalk area at Disney World and are always on the lookout for a good deal at one of the resorts in that area. Being able to easily walk to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is a huge plus for us. And we can finally say we have officially stayed at every resort on Disney’s Boardwalk! Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has been on our radar for some time now and we recently had the opportunity to stay at this resort and experience everything it has to offer. Read on for our full Disney Yacht Club Resort Review!

Yacht Club Resort at Walt Disney World

Yacht Club is a deluxe resort at Walt Disney World that is situated in Disney’s Boardwalk area, near EPCOT. With an elegant New England style Yacht Club theme, this nautical resort is the perfect place to relax and unwind.  While its sister resort, Disney’s Beach Club, is known more for its beachy, cottage type feel, Yacht Club transports you to a place that feels like luxury. 

Home to several restaurants and the Stormalong Bay pool complex it shares with Beach Club, let’s take a look at this resort and see if it’s right for your next Disney Vacation. 

Yacht Club Resort Atmosphere

The atmosphere is Yacht Club is laid back but feels slightly more elevated and upscale than Disney’s Beach Club. Some think it feels a bit “stuffy”, but it’s nowhere near as sophisticated as say, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.  The resort feels nautical. And has the lovely scent of Green Clover and Aloe filling the lobby and hallways. 

Since Yacht Club doesn’t house any character meals and is slightly farther from EPCOT than Beach Club, it’s often quieter and less chaotic feeling in general as well.

Yacht Club Resort Rooms

The rooms at Yacht Club resort are modern and simple. They have small Disney details. But nothing that is in your face Disney. One of the best parts about the rooms at Yacht Club is that they sleep five. Much like the rooms at the Contemporary, these rooms include two queen beds and a couch that converts into a twin bed. The twin bed is large enough to fit a small to average sized adult. So this makes them great for families needing a little extra space. Or for larger parties that don’t want to splurge on a family suite or villa. 

The Yacht Club rooms have the classic room and bathroom setup. The vanity area is able to be closed off from the rest of the room by closing the door. And the toilet and shower are also able to be separated as well. 

We booked a resort view, which can mean a variety of things and were pleasantly surprised at our view! See above for photos from our balcony. We could see EPCOT’s fireworks from our balcony and that felt like a huge added value, as we happened to be traveling during January for this trip. Which meant that we often had earlier nights in. 

The Yacht Club Resort’s rooms feel spacious, clean and updated. And though there’s not a ton of Disney theming, if you look closely, you can see some very cute Disney touches that match the decor. Hidden mickeys in the photographs. And Disney characters in the shape of constellations on the curtains. 

Yacht Club Resort Grounds 

The resort grounds at Disney’s Yacht Club are fairly limited to the Boardwalk area . With palm trees and white sandy beaches that it shares with Disney’s Beach Club Resort , and its amazing pool, Stormalong Bay, the actual resort is quite compact. This makes getting around super easy. Though Yacht Club does have tennis courts and some green space, it’s not an expansive resort by any means.

The pool at Disney’s Yacht Club is the main attraction. And one reason so many people are willing to pay the cost to stay here. It really is the best pool at Walt Disney World. With a sandy bottom, lazy river, very cool pirate ship slide and plenty of room, both for swimming and for lounging, you could come to Disney just for the pool and be happy. 

There is also a pool bar, Hurricane Hannah’s, that offers drinks and small plates. You can order these from one of the servers at the pool area. Or walk up to the counter and order that way. 

The pools at Yacht and Beach are pretty strict when it comes to who can use them. Guests are required to scan in with a cast member before being allowed to enter. And will receive a wrist band at the gate to prove that they’re allowed to be there. 

Disney’s Yacht Club also has a quiet pool called the Admiral Pool, located around the back of the resort near the tennis court. 

Does the Beach Club and Yacht Club Share Pools?

Yes they do! Stormalong Bay is the main attraction here. And is one of the reasons the two resorts are so popular. Guests of the Beach and Yacht Club Resorts share the pool at Stormalong Bay, and you do need to scan in with a cast member to use the pool. 

Yacht Club Transportation Options

Transportation at Yacht Club is fairly simple and straightforward. They have ferry service that goes from the Yacht Club to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, as well as the resorts in the immediate area. You can take Disney’s Skyliner to Hollywood Studios or any of the Skyliner Resorts . And you can also walk to the back entrance of EPCOT to enter at the International Gateway and walk to Hollywood Studios via the walking path . 

Disney busses will take you to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs. The buses are usually shared between Yacht Club Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn, so be aware that you may want to account for extra time when traveling to these locations. 

Yacht Club Dining and Restaurants

One of the biggest challenges with staying in a Boardwalk area resort is finding hot food on the go. Neither Beach or Yacht Club have a full kitchen in their quick service locations, so hot food options are very limited. Yacht Club does do a little better here though, as they have hot breakfast sandwiches and Mickey waffles. And we love that you can get specialty lattes and coffees here as well. 

Ale and Compass

Ale and Compass is the main restaurant at Yacht Club Resort. Though there are always mixed reviews of this place, we love the chocolate waffles. And feel it’s one of the best breakfasts you can get at Disney for $15.  We have seen inconsistency be an issue at Ale and Compass, especially when it comes to the flatbreads. But overall, we enjoy this restaurant and love that you can get food to go!

Ale and Compass Lounge

If you’re looking for a lounge with an upscale feel, great drinks and service and some delicious bites, look no further than Ale and Compass Lounge. We are big fans of this lounge at Disney World. And even come here on days when we aren’t staying in the area but just need a break from EPCOT.

The Market at Ale and Compass 

The Market at Ale and Compass is the resort’s quick service commissary. This is where you’ll find grab and go foods, specialty coffees and where you can fill up your refillable mug or grab a soft drink. One thing that’s hard to ignore is that it’s sometimes difficult to find good hot food to go in this area of the Boardwalk. Or really, on most of the Boardwalk in general. There are plenty of grab and go options for colder food like premade treats, sandwiches and salads. But if you want something made fresh and hot, your options will be a bit more limited. 

We think the Market at Ale and Compass tends to do just a little bit better than Beach Club with its hot offerings. But you won’t find a full hot menu here like you would at most of the other resorts. 

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Yachtsman Steakhouse is Yacht Club’s upscale restaurant. Serving steaks, seafood, chicken and more, this is a perfect place for a date night, or any other time you’re looking for a special meal. We’ve never eaten here before mostly because it’s quite pricey. That being said, if you’re a steak lover, this place gets great reviews and is worth looking into for a special occasion. 

Crew’s Cup Lounge

Crew’s Cup Lounge is a full bar, located right next to Yachtsman. Many people stop by here before heading to the steakhouse for pre-dinner drinks, but you don’t have to be a guest of the restaurant to visit. While Ale and Compass serves brighter and lighter flavors, Crew’s Cup is big with the Scotch crowd. If you’re looking for Scotch at Disney, this is the place to go. They also have a wide variety of coffee cocktails if that’s your thing, and a few options for small plates as well.

Gift Shop at Yacht Club

The gift shop at Yacht Club is a bit more upscale than you’re probably used to for a Disney resort. Not only do they carry the standard Disney apparel, mugs and souvenirs, but they also carry high end brands like Vineyard Vines and sometimes Lilly Pulitzer. They are located in the right side of the Market at Ale and Compass.

Movies Under the Stars at Yacht Club Resort

We love Movies Under the Stars at Disney ! And we especially love it at Yacht Club because of its location here. Movies Under the Stars here is shared with Beach Club. And is usually shown on the beach near the Pirate Ship Water Slide. During times of inclement weather, it can be held indoors at the Solarium, which is technically located at the Beach Club. 

Yacht Club Resort Amenities and Recreation

Disney’s Yacht Club has plenty to do! With an arcade filled with games, resort activities for all ages and of course, their fantastic pool, spending some time at the resort is a great way to spend a non-Park day at Disney. 

Fitness Center at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Like all deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World, Yacht Club has a fitness center that it shares with Beach Club. Located between the resorts, near the pool and right next to the arcade, this gym has a good variety of equipment including free weights, treadmills, bikes and more. 

Laundry Facilities at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort 

There are two places you can do laundry while staying at Disney’s Yacht Club. The first is by the Admiral pool. Go past the Marketplace at Ale and Compass and keep walking until you reach the end of the hallway. You’ll find a door leading you to the back of the hotel. The laundry room is by the pool, which can be found right next to the tennis court. There are six washers and dryers here, and it always looks clean and is easy to use.

The second set of washers and dryers is a small room on the first floor, right across from room 1063. This laundry room is likely not the most convenient for many people, but if you’re staying near in this area, it could be nice to not have to go outside to get your laundry done. 

Yacht Club Club Level

Club Level at the Yacht Club can be found at The Regatta Club Lounge. This is located on the 5th floor of Yacht Club and can only be accessed with your Magic Band if you’re staying in a club level room. We haven’t experience yet, so we can’t give it a review. How much does disney’s yacht club resort cost .

Prices for Disney’s Yacht Club Resort start at $537 per night for 2024. This is the rack rate, so this is the price you can expect to pay before any discounts or promotions. And often times, you’ll find this much higher depending on when you’re traveling. 

Is Yacht Club good for families?

While I do think Yacht Club is good for families, I think Beach Club is likely better for most families. Mostly just because it feels a bit less intimidating. However, both resorts give you access to the main pool, which is the real draw anyway. So yes, this resort is great for families. 

Is Yacht Club worth the price?

That depends! We got an excellent price on our room and felt it was 100% worth the price. Between the convenience to EPCOT, the quiet feel, the view from our room and the upscale atmosphere, Yacht Club was worth it for us. Add in the fact that they have by far the best pool at Disney World, and we were very happy with what we paid for it. Keep in mind we traveled here in January, and you can usually find some pretty good deals during this time. 

A lot of this will likely depend on what type of Disney experience you appreciate or plan to have. If you’re planning to spend most of your time in the Parks, we rarely feel deluxe resorts are worth it. But if you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, with time to enjoy your resort, it may be worth it for you. In terms of pricing,  Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is generally going to be less expensive than Yacht Club, and the more elevated atmosphere may not be for everyone.

We felt this resort was a much better value than Beach Club. Beach Club had a lot of issues when we stayed there including stains in the lobby, tears on the wallpaper in the hallway and it just felt kind of….old and shabby. 

Yacht Club feels expensive and we felt that lended a bit more to its price. 

Does Disney’s Yacht Club have a fridge?

Nope! All standard rooms, including those at deluxe resorts, only have what is known as a beverage cooler. These don’t get cold enough to hold food that require colder temps for food safety. But they can keep your drinks at a cooler temperature. 

Does Yacht Club at Disney have DVC rooms?

They don’t! One of the big differences between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club is the fact that the Beach Club is a DVC resort, and Yacht Club is not. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort only offers standard rooms. 

How far is the walk from Yacht Club to EPCOT?

This will depend on your location in the resort. However, since Yacht Club isn’t that large of a resort, most guests can expect to get the back entrance of EPCOT in about 8-10 minutes. There is also a ferry from the Yacht Club dock that will take you to the same entrance if you prefer to get around that way instead. 

Does the Disney Skyliner go to the Yacht Club?

Kind of! Though the Skyliner won’t take you directly to the Yacht Club, you can take Disney’s Skyliner to the back entrance of EPCOT and walk to Yacht Club from there. 

Overall, we loved Yacht Club. The food at Ale and Compass and the Market at Ale and Compass was always good, and very easy to get thanks to Mobile Order . The drinks and service at the Ale and Compass Lounge was great. And though we didn’t experience the same welcoming atmosphere at Crew’s Cup, we were fine with it because Ale and Compass is more our style anyway. 

Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The view from our room was fantastic for a resort view. And we loved being able to see the fireworks from our room. Especially since it was pretty cold during our trip, which meant we usually had a earlier nights. 

The bus service is still a point of contention for us, as the buses seem to take forever at this resort. However, since it’s walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, we rarely used the bus service here anyway.  

Would we stay at Yacht Club again?

Yes we would! We would need a very good deal again, as this resort is usually out of our budget. But if the opportunity arose, we would happily stay here again. Though we never thought we’d say this, we prefer the Yacht Club over the Beach Club in terms of theming and atmosphere.
