Royal Yacht was sort of a jokey blend on Forums, or discussed that way, a few years ago. Royal Yuck, etc. Others approved and strongly defended it. I let a tin age for several years, and mentioned that on Forums, and a member encouraged me to try it, maybe with some levity. My experience of it was different than I expected.

Dunhill Royal Yacht was introduced in 1912 and has been a firm favourite with smokers around the world ever since. What is essentially a Virginia mixture is given a slight plum topping, adding a little to the smoking experience. It comes across as almost a VaPer without the addition of Perique. From the tin this tobacco has a wonderfully complex Virginia aroma with a slight raisin not to it.

Use a fine-mesh sieve to strain the mixture. Press the pulp gently to extract the liquid. Let the syrup cool for about 20 minutes at room temperature. Cover the syrup and put it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before use. Pour ½ oz of lime juice and 1 tablespoon of the cooled syrup into two Collins glasses or copper mugs.
